Rifah Islam's Media Fluency Slide

Rifah's Islam Media Fluency Slide (1)
Hi! I’m Rifah Islam and this slide is about one major influence in my life. My ohana, or family is very special and important to me. This slide is dedicated to my family. Anyway, I designed the slide to made the it look the way it is for a couple reasons. I tried to make the slide visual, focused and understood by just one glance. I also tried to achieve good contrast in my slide. To do so, I kept text to a minimum and one picture. Since I only have three words and one picture, I needed them to be captivating and memorable. To make the text both easy to understand and eye catching, I used the largest font size for the word ‘Ohana’. Then, I made the definition of  ‘Ohana’ (‘means family’) only two sizes smaller. I kept the text plain all black, so there is also a fair amount of attention going towards the picture. The picture I tried to keep very simple, yet compelling. I used a white as my background color so that the beautiful blue of Stitch’s skin stands out. Finally, I used the rule of thirds to help me while arranging my slide. I kept some parts of my slides empty, to add some balance. I didn’t want my slide to be overpowering. That’s why I designed the slide the way I did. Thank you for taking the time to listen (or read) to me talk (or write) about my slide and it’s design!
Rifah's Islam Media Fluency Slide (2)
After presenting my media fluency slide to the class and receiving feedback, I changed my slide just a bit. Since I had gotten mostly positive feedback about my slide (thankfully!), I didn't want to change it too much. I kept the sizes of the text, the font, the spacing and the centered text and picture the same as before. I just switched the side the picture and text was on. Now it looks like the Stitch is looking at and the heart is pointing towards the text. This gives the slide a nice transition from the picture to the text. Thanks for all the great feedback! I hope that I was able to change the slide for the better.
