Q2 Art Portfolio

This quarter I decided to focus on art that meant something to me personally. Many artists find their inspiration on things and people around them and I wanted to find that same kind of inspiration in my life. For me it started with the art history. I chose to research art from the middle east because it has a spiritual connection to me and I wanted to learn more about that part of my life.

The second thing was the collage. I chose to make the symbol for the Philadelphia Eagles. To many this may seem boring or even lame, however as a beyond avid sports fan who plans on pursuing a career centered around sports it is a big part of my life. I didn't want to do a conventional Eagles symbol. I used many different colors of paper and arranged them in a unique way to display that I want a bright future for our city's football team.

The third piece of art was the fabric drawing. For this one I drew the cloth draped over the stool that was displayed in class, however when I drew it I imagined he cloth instead as my bed blanket. A much thicker and less creased fabric. I wanted to catch the flow of the fabric as it drapes of the stool.

For the next art project I edited a photo of one of my friends. We were in class together and I took a photo. This was probably my favorite assignment because it was very cool to play around with the different features of the photo editing tool. In addition I got to incorporate one of my friends into the art class which was awesome.

Finally for drawing the scenes I drew one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite books, Moneyball. The scene portrays Billy Beane telling the coach of the Athletics that he cannot play a certain player, with the reason being that he was traded. The manager is dumbfounded by the news and I tried to show that.
