ILP Blog Questions

1.) My ILP was at an office and it is basically for anyone who likes to do clerical work. It is suitable for learning to qwork with computers and also if helps you learn the basics of working in a professional setting.

2.) The things I have done there was write thank you letters to companies, corporations, and industries that gives them grants thanking them for their money. I also organized their books in their book closet, and put information into their database.

3.) I learned how offices operate and what not to do in such a professional setting such as the Philadelphia Reads office.

4.) My expectaions were to have an ILP that was easy and did not require much work.

5.) It was easy and it did not require that much effort. It did not come with like homework and it was exactly what I expected it to be.

6.)  I dont think I want to do anything with office when I get older. It tends to get tedious and boring.

7.) My ILP doesn't have anything to do with what or how I learn at SLA.

8.)  I will make sure that i don't pick anything having to do with the kind of work i did at this ILP. I didnt like anything.

9.)  Nothing.

10.) Don't go.

ILP recap

• Describe your ILP.
o The Center for Civic Engagement is a place where college students gain their credits for service learning. Drexel’s strategic vision is to become a leading university known for students who engage with contemporary and enduring questions, through active involvement with diverse communities and real-world challenges.

• What have you done there?

o At my ILP I have gone on multiple trips including Independence Hall, African American History Museum, and the Franklin Institute. We have also done some community service, like putting a box out in our school to collect coats for homeless shelters for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Along with that we have joined together with Drexel to get some actual service in and help to beautify parts of Greater Philadelphia.

• What you learned?

    o The value of service
o Serving helps more than just yourself
o You can learn about yourself and the world through service
o What service values America was built on

• What were your expectations?

o We didn't have any expectations because we were placed in this after our previous ILP choices. My expectations were waiting to be set after this. It was important to remember that I had to enjoy whatever I was going to do.

• How did your ILP connect to your future career plans?

    o It doesn’t at all.

• How does your ILP connect to learning at SLA?

o We try to connect things to several other concepts. SLA is geared to learning in general while the Drexel's CCE is all about what service REALLY means.

• How does your ILP connect or affect your ILP plans for next year?

o This ILP doesn’t connect or affect any of my ILP plans for next year because the ILP that I anticipate on having next year has nothing to do with my ILP I had this year.

• What are you taking with you from your ILP experience?

o What I’d like to take with me from this experience is that everyone can lead because everyone can serve. You don’t need to have any special skills to be able to serve, all that you have to do is have the willingness to help yourself and others in the long-run.

• What advice do you have for someone else about to go into your ILP next year?

    o Have an open mind
o Be ready for whatever comes at you
    o Have fun :)

Blog 2 Othello Q4 Benchmark

My group and I have completed the script and have already started recording for our presentation. The way that we're going to be presenting it is through a podcast. We all have designated people we must reenact for this project. I am doing Desdemona and Cassio, Michael is doing Othello and Roderigo, Dakota is doing Barbantio, and Jacob is doing Iago. My job is also to edit everyones parts to make the podcast ready for the presentation.

The good things about working in this group is that everyone knows their assignments. We all know what we must do to get our portion done and we know how to use our time effectively. But the bad things about working in a group is that some people didn't have computers to use the program we needed to record the lines. So we had to designate times in which we were going to be able to get them to do their part.

For the editing part we had to choose which parts of the script sounded good together, as well as what would get straight to the point without losing story plot. It was hard to analyze all of the text and edit it, but we found out how to do it effectively and correct.

My understanding for the plot and characters, as well as the theme are deepening through this benchmark process because I'm starting to see how things are tying together due to what has happened. I'm also seeing how somethings need to be mentioned in the beginning to make sense of what has happened at the end.

Othello Blog 3

What have we done so far? Well I am happy to say we have finished our draft of the script however, serious editing is needed. There are a lot of unnecessary conversations in the script we have made. Everyone has finished his or her part. Now we need to come up with a presentation. We came up with a podcast, but we soon changed to an out-loud reading of our final scripts.

Our group is working well although it seems as though Julian defected after performing his task. Which is not unexpected, he only did enough to help us so I guess his job was done. Other then that we are cooperating and working to finish our presentations as fast as possible.

As far as editing it’s out of my hands, it’s all on Kiara now so I haven’t done anymore editing. Kiara is editing our script. From now all I was going to do was edit the podcast but we decided not to do a podcast so that was also not needed.

Since we finished the book and our scripts an answer to the 4th question isn’t really needed.

Othello Blog 2

What have we done so far? Basically we have begun to put together our findings from our respective Acts. Cassandra is almost done, as am I, Julian is getting there, and Kiara is just about done. We are placing our finds on one-shared documents over Google Docs.

Our group is working pretty well actually. I’m surprised. Because when we made the groups I wasn’t getting my ideas across and I was arguing with Kiara and Cassandra a lot, And Julian was just sitting back chilling and not doing any work, but now we are working efficiently and just might have a good project.

Basically I have my facts on jealousy from Act 3 Scene 1, 2, and 3. However, within the lines I found, there were many useless conversations within the important lines. So I had to cut them out. That’s the only editing I needed to do so far.

As I read I see that most of the characters that are submerged in jealous behavior are the main characters. Such as Othello I see that he is passionate, easily jealous, and gullible. So when I’m reading and skimming through my scenes in the book, I look for dialogues that involve Othello in heated conversations.

Othello Blog 1

What have we done so far? Basically we have received the assignment, and had our groups assigned. I’m in a group with Julian, Kiara, and Cassandra. So far we also have assigned jobs, and where we will post our stuff.

Well our group is probably going to be difficult as well as easy. I expect hard work from all of our members. But as you may know some of our members, mainly Julian and I, tend to be slackers, especially at the sight of potentially hard work. Cassandra is a slacker on and off. And Kiara works hard all the time so we will see.

Basically I haven’t done any work yet but I have taken a few glimpses at my Act (Act 3) in combination with Spark notes (for added comprehension and interpretation). I don’t know what tactics my teammates will be using. However, I doubt we will alter any of the lines we find.

I chose Act 3 because I believe that’s where our theme (jealousy) unfolds and gets the most attention. Such as Act 3 Scene lines 195-225 in which Iago warns Othello of the possible feelings of jealousy he could catch from seeing Cassio and Desdemona.

Othello Blog #3

Well this is the end of our preparation for the presentation and the presentation itself, which we might have done not too well on but it think that it was somewhat good because it looked like we did everything well like the lines we picked and the pictures that were drown to show who was which character when reading the script.

The thing that would have been better if we changed in our project would be to have practiced reading our line for the script a little bit more to be more clearer when reading and be very familiar with the lines and have a more animated voice to be more appealing. Other then that i don't think that their was anything else wrong with the project, we folloved every guide line and did everything on time.

Othello Blog 2

Right know our team is working on taking editing the lines for the final script we are going to use. The way we did this was by having each team member take the lines that they found during the first part of the benchmark and choose the most important lines from the ones they found so we could create the script. After that we will need to update the GoogleDocs so that our teacher can see our progress so far.

After we finished our script the only thing that we had a problem with was weather  we should delete the whole GoodleDocs and update it so it has our final script. This is a problem for us because we were not sure if we will need the information again. But this problem was solved by copying the information form the GoogleDoc so that we could look at if for future preferences.

Otello Bolg 3

Well, I am delighted to say that my team and I are finally done with both the script and the final presentation. I admit, we met quite a lot of difficulties, and just after a week I started to feel unconfident about the outcome of this project. Nevertheless, things turned out great. In fact, today we finished up the presentation, consisting in a Garage Band file we created a few days ago. And, although we didn’t have it completed for the beginning of class this morning, Mr. Chase received the final file thanks to Mithun, who spent all the remaining time working on the audio version of the script. Thankfully, despite the first misunderstandings with some of my group members, all of us did what we were supposed to do. Strangely however, we eventually decided to make audio version of the script, based on the audio version of the book itself. We did so because after a while we realized that half of us had pronunciation problems, and therefore we weren’t able to speak fluently and perform well.

Almost a week ago, we faced a technical difficulty: Naadir didn’t come to school that particular day, and we absolutely needed his part of the script. Unfortunately, he wasn’t even able to post them on the Google document. But, I knew he actually had them done on his laptop. So, after a couple of hours I lost hope, and decided that I had to find important lines we were missing, since I was the team manager. In that occasion I read the act in which the characters are waiting for Otello to arrive on the shore in Cyprus. I identified a very relevant line, which very few people noticed. I am talking about the one when Cassio takes Desdemona’s hand as an act of courtesy. It actually is an act of courtesy where Cassio comes from, but to the eyes of everyone else in Venice and Cyprus, it symbolizes a simple interest toward that specific woman. In essence, it can be interpreted as a Cassio’s mistake, by showing this supposed “attraction” for Desdemona. Today, I also found an interesting quotation from the writing Analysis of Iago, and it is the following: “However, it is not that Iago pushes aside his conscience to commit these acts, but that he lacks a conscience to begin with.” I have to say, I disagree with this statement. You see, if Iago does not have a conscience, why in almost every scene does he try to justify his immoral acts with pointless subterfuges and pretexts? I thought about the answer for a while, and I realized that by doing so, Iago shows to have a certain, although undefined conscience.

Othello Blog #2

We edited our script and found out that we had way too many lines so we had to edit it down a lot. Our script is organized but we still haven’t figured out who is saying what and we haven’t really decided on how were presenting. We don’t want out presentation to be boring but we don’t want to have to do too much because we have a very short time to finish this.

We said we were going to read the lines but I think that wouldn’t be enough. Then we said we were going to use cards to help with the transition between acts and scenes. I want to make the cards that we use interesting. I want to put pictures of who’s talking on each card and what their actions are.

Othello Blog #1

So far my group is working extremely well. We all have lots of ideas that we want to put into this project, it’s just a matter of putting it together though. The first thing that we were discussing was finding the lines. We all wanted to find as many lines as possible so we could edit the script any way we wanted. We divided the acts amongst us and everyone looked for lines that dealt with jealousy. At first it was hard to find any lines that actually saying that someone was jealousy but when I looked deeper into it I found a lot.

Another issue we were talking about was how we were going to edit the script. We didn’t say who would say what yet     because we want to know how much we were going to need first. After we edit our script things will become clearer.

Othello Blog #2

Right know our team is working on taking apart the lines for out final script. The way we made this work was by having everyone take the lines that they have found and take the most important ones so that we could create the script. After-ward we need to update the GoogleDocs so that our teacher could see our progress so far.

Well after we have finished our script the only thing that we had a problem with was if we should delete the whole GoodleDocs and update it with our final script because we were not sure if we will need the information again. But this problem was solved by copying the information form the GoogleDocs to a Microsoft Word document for future preferences.

Well so far the amount of understanding that I have for the book Othello might have increased a little bit more because we went in deeper into the book and picked it apart to find things for the project. The things that we have found gave me some more understanding of Othello, Desdemona, Roderigo, Cassion and Iago because much of manipulation happened between those characters.

Othello Blog #1

Since the beginning of the benchmark the thing that my group has accomplished to further the benchmark was that we have found the lines from the text that would relate to our theme. Lucky for us we have found plenty of those to lead us though the project. Afterward we had to put the lines that we have found on GoogleDocs so that the whole team could see the progress that we have so far. From what I have seen from the lines my group and I have gathered we are good on and on track to further the Benchmark.

So far for us as a group we did not have any difficulties, well at least from my point of view it didn’t seem like we did. But on the other hand the problem we had was some of us could not read some of the lines since they were written in the language of Shakespeare. But other then that we didn’t have any problems so cooperation was on our side.

The way that we picked the lines was by how much they related to our theme that my group and I have picked for our project. It was interesting to see some of the lines that were picked by my teammates because when I read the book I didn’t think of the things that were written in the way we are thinking of it right now for our project. Thanks to this project were able to think more in-depth about Shakespeare’s writing and see the things that he might have wonted us to see though our own eyes.

Othello blog post 1

Process: We made our Goggle Doc and decided what lines and act we going to do. We decided on what we are going to do and decided whom going to be the manager and teach manager.

Group Dynamics: Well we are good at working together and we are making decisions as a group. Every one is on their own on doing their parts and we have a good manger that is keeping everything in place.

Editing: We do not have to edit anything so we are still working on our own parts. We are planning on doing either a podcasts or a movie and I will edit this.

Evolving Understanding: Well the first time I read the book I didn't understand that much about the plot and jealousy. And now when I am reading aging and thinking I understand the plot and the themes. Now I could pictures the plot, see the setting

Othello Blog1

Through out the process of working together with my team we have agreed much so far. So far we have read our parts of the book and reviewed it. We wanted to review or pages to find out which lines will have our theme in them. Over the course of one class we all agreed on how we would do our presentation and what characters we would be. We decided on which characters we would be pending on our personality. We also decided how the team managers are and what each person is responsible for. Each person in our team would be responsible for each part of the project so this way the pressure or stress of the project would be divided evenly.

Though it was not easy deciding on all of this we all had different opinions and wanted to be in charge of different things. And some of us didn't even want the responsibility of certain things. In the beginning we had trouble getting started and some of us didn’t want to read our parts so we had to set some ground rules. The rules were if you didn’t do your work one night then the next night you would have to do the recent work and extra work. This motivated us because none wanted to do extra work.

In the Othello text we grabbed scenes and lines from the book that related to our topic, which was manipulation and added them into our google doc. After we inserted the manipulation themes into the google doc we remembered that the whole presentation had to be no more then ten minutes long. So when we were editing we kept only the important parts that would get the point across into our script. We took out unnecessary lines that wouldn’t throw you off if you didn’t hear them. We knew which ones to take out because we read the script over after we took certain lines out to see if the script would still make sense.

When I first got the book I really didn’t like Shakespeare but when I started reading I began to understand what point he was trying to get across. I have never read a play by Shakespeare before but it seems like he was talented and he knew what he was doing. I slowly began to understand why certain things happened in the play and why certain themes took place throughout the play. I also began to understand what was called comic relief by my whole team understanding Shakespeare’s work we had no trouble translating his words and writing our final script.

Okay, blog entery 1, yea.. I'm late. Grades go in soon and it's so awesome to finally be finishing up all of these benchmarks. We're all done with the scene write ups I believe and now the only problem we're really encountering is the fact that the 4 of us are hardly ever all in school on the same da, so we've been having issues on getting the script finnished and the props we need together. but we should be fine and we'll make it though this and hopefully produce a good quarter four benchmark.

Othello Journal 2

Group Members: Maxx,Lonnie, Nicole, Marchella

Theme: Jealousy,

I know (or rather I strongly believe) that my team don't believe that I can get the script done in time, causing our grade to go down the drain along with the toilet behind it. I am actually doubting myself into believing the samthing. I keep working on the script though, but me being me, I just look at it as "what if it's not right; what if it has nothing to do with the story line; what if it don't flow smoothly." I can't think straight right now, but off the self depression situation. I think overall we are doing ok, everyone got there script portions ready. Everyone is just waiting on me to make the script for them to practice, no pressure right?

When we started this whole thing, we were actually lazing around, which took a huge toll on us that we had to pay for. We have a plan now and a (non edited) script ready but we still haven't practiced the non-robotic talking that is most likely to come as we perform this to the class. A question that was going on in my mind was, how can we practice this over the weekend without our partners?

Mr. Chase is letting us off easy, or rather he was, if you thought about it the wrong way, we were given a deal: perform Monday and be ready, which will take us more effort to get ready by than, or do it wednesday and make it sound perfect, which means that we can't sound like we're reading it off a paper as well as well planned out scripting to use. If you looked at that the wrong way, than you would believe that Wednesday is a better choice right now, but in our current predicament, than you would just go with Monday to get it over with and not be graded harder for the samething you would have given him Monday.

Othello Blog 2

Process: So far we are done with our Initial script. We started out with finding important line that sets our plot and then supports our theme. Since we were assigned on specific acts and scenes we found the lines, wrote a brief description of what happened and put it on google doc. So far everyone found their part and put it on google doc.

Group Dynamics: At this point everyone’s parts are done. No one was assigned to write the lines out on google doc. Since the two scenes I was assigned were pointless and did not have anything important on it so I was done first. I went online and found The Othello book and then read through google doc to see which lines we needed and then started pasting everyone’s lines. Since Guess was also done with me he also found the lines he needed for his section. As we finished coping and pasting our script I worked on my section where I cut out all the lines from the original text that we did not need. Because Sarah was not there I tired doing her line too. My other team members are working on theirs right now.

Editing: For the editing part it’s very confusing for me. Well not exactly, I was confused at first of what I should be doing so yeah. So far I have cut down my lines to where a character says something and it basically states what my one line summary says about that event. I did not go over where I have to link the scenes, but that will be done soon and we should be working on that the next class.

Evolving Understanding: I choose each line by looking at what that line leads to. For example I wrote the line where Iago tells Cassio to drink with him, this is important because that leads to Cassio to get drunk, get in a fight with Rodrigo and then get fired by Othello. So things like that, which basically changes or go along with Iago’s plan in the play are what I usually pick out.

ENG Q4 Blog 2 (Othello)

Woah. The time is going so fast that I barely know what day it is./ my group for this project is moving at a great pace. We are not behind in anything that I know of. All of us have done our part in reading the scenes and editing the dialogue. Now all that is left for us to do is record our podcast.

Okay. I will so take back what I said before about working in groups. Sometimes you have a major slacker and sometimes you have the ones who do what they have to do and they do it well. And I have to say my group is doing a great job at that. We all know what needs to achieve and we are so on the verge of doing that.

The last two days were when the editing of the text was being done. Each one of my group members had the task of cutting down the text that we were responsible for reading. We edited our own parts so that we could let each others interpretation work their way. Everyone has a different way of thinking and this way you could express what you think your way. You decide what stays and goes.

If you understand Iago’s plan the story pretty much tells itself. He is the guy who wants revenge, but in order for him to get that he needs everyone’s blindness. Knowing Iago inside and out opens up so many options for themes and ways of thinking. But in order to use those themes you must really understand and not just act like you do.

Othello Blog entry 1

First off I will begin by saying 2 of our group members are not her presently and one hasn’t been here most of the time. Now if they completed what they were given we should be done. I am finished what I had to do and I would like to help them but they are not here so I do not know which parts to do. Another problem that occurred is when choosing how we are going to present the other members were not here to put in their 2 cents which might be a problem later on. These all are obvious reasons why group work is hard to do. Well now we are continuing to try and work on what we can to fill up time, hopefully when Ayanna and Selarra get here they would have finished their parts. Such as do the script or make sure our lines are perfect so we don't have to edit them later.

I wonder how this will work once we all put each of our parts together, and what work we will have to do, if any to make it make sense. It’s easy to find the right lines to progress the plot but the tricky part is finding lines that link to your theme. They both have to match which limits out a lot of lines that could be used and you usually find lines that have one without the other. Very rarely and only if you get lucky will you find lines that have to do with both on your first try. This can be seen as a learning experiance because you have to look deeper into the plot and see the characters for who the really are to match it with the theme we have chosen.

Othello Q4 Benchmark Blog #2

My group and I are just about finished our script. Myself and I think another of my team members have found lines from all the acts and scenes we were assigned. We have them up on the Google Docs, and the rest of my group is just about finished with their acts and scenes as well.

There have been no additional difficulties so far relating to my group and their ability to work together. Our situation has been pretty much a complete success. No one wastes time or gets off task. We talk about what needs to be discussed, then we get done what needs to be done. Everyone is working effectively and efficiently, so there are no problems with my group, as far as I can see.

When adding lines to the Google Docs, my group searches for the quotes that can show off our theme without actually saying it, as well as give hints to the storyline and move it forward. We try to get the juicy quotes that let you easily know what's going on at whatever point of the story the quote is from. For editing, we try to pick out what is unnecessary in the quotes/lines we find and try to get to the point without too much extra information. My group picks tha lines apart and then puts them back together in a way that can be more understandable to the audience and not bore them or leave them stumped.

Now, after finding my lines and looking at those that my partners found, I do understand some of the secret jealousy and character edvelopment to a greater degree. I realized that Brabantio was jealous of Othello almost from the start, seeing as how his daughter was tempted by a "Moor" and not a noble man of Venice. He thinks just about anyone else would be a better choice for Desdemona, but that doesn't seem likely. Also, I've seen how Othello's jealousy was sparked little by little over the course of the story. Throughout Acts 1-3, he gets little nudges down the path to jealousy, but in Acts 4 and 5, he really starts to get "heated" and reveal the jealousy that was created in him by Iago's plan. He goes off on Desdemona about her being a whore with Cassio and giving away his blessed handkerchief, and even questions Emilia's motives. His judgement starts to become clouded near the ending and when the story does come to a close, he ends up dead.

Otello Blog 2

Unfortunately, my optimism present in the first blog is now starting to turn in pessimism. During the last class, I worked with my group members on the criteria by which the lines need to be identified. Essentially, we realized that the passages that we pick up have to make sense once they will be part of our actual script. However, that’s not the reason why I am not confident anymore about the outcome of this project. The point is that I looked up on the google document the lines my partners chose, and, as far as I can tell, they are not related to jealousy, which of course is our theme, or very important for the plot. Furthermore, they are simply meaningless because they consist in just a few sentences with no context at all. In addition, the final script is due tomorrow, day during which Mithun will not be in class. Therefore I am not going to be able to talk to him directly. I already told him about what needs to be done, but so far there is just one line “done” in his section. Fortunately, Naadir has almost completed all the lines he has to do. I went over them, and he is doing a great job. Still, on Monday we eventually decided to present the project as a video. Mithun will take care of that later on, when everything will be ready. Anyway, while reading the book over and over to catch some passages that I probably missed, I figured out how everyone realized what kind of person Iago is just after he killed his wife Emilia.

Blog 3

Ok so this is the 3rd blog post and still nothing to much is different from now and blog number 2. Nicole didnt come to school today which is a total flop. Marchella is well on her way almost done her part, and me and Lonnie are totally done. Now here for the dilemma is that we as a group can't actually start the script until everyone is done. Now i know that everyone is just about done but thats the thing. We cant "almost" be done, We Have To Be Done ASAP. Grades go in as i know very soon and the clock is ticking. This deadline i know will be tight (because thats just how Mr. Chase is.) so every day we waste will make this project that much more hurried. And we all know from experience that anything hurried may result in a failure. Which to me isnt so great.

ENG Q4 blog 1 (Othello)

Currently my group is working on making the lines that we found in the book look like an actual script. Since we are all done reading our assigned section of the book we should be good then of course we have to edit and shorten the dialogue.

Working with a group is some kind of difficult. Its like if one person doesn’t do what they are supposed to do it throws the entire group off. Then you have the students who have a habit of no doing work and it sucks when you get stuck with them. But when you do work with you don’t have as much work to do and everything is not just on your shoulders.

My group is doing a podcast. At first we were just going to take the summarization of our lines and make our own dialogue in modern day language. But when we realized that couldn’t do that we will just have to remove lines from what we have typed up and choose what lines we will use from that.

If someone fully understands that concept of the plot of the story it because easy to dig deep and analyze. It would also become easy to apply a theme to the words you are reading and be able to pick apart what’s there in front of you. Plus understanding the personalities of the characters help to pick out what’s perfect for them to say and it’s easy to place them in the right area.

My team- Me, Cassy, Julian, Zach

Our theme-Jealousy

So far my team and I have come up with the theme that we are going to highlight in our “mini-play”. We split up the acts in such a way that each person has a certain amount of scenes to look through and find lines. After we found lines, we started putting them up on Google Docs and now all we have to do is rearrange the lines so that the order they are in follows a storyline that makes sense. We were able to get most of the lines done in class but we still have a ways to go in terms of putting them all in order to get the initial script done. We also determined that we were going to do a video for the final presentation.

The difficulties of working in a group as always is the dependency you are forced to have on other people. If your group works as a group and everyone has equal jobs, you have to depend on other people to get the work in on time especially when the work is not separate and it all has to eventually go together. For example, the part of the project where we have to put lines up on Google docs is hard to get past when everyone doesn’t put their stuff up. It makes it hard when the other people in the group need their work to move on. So far everyone in the group isn’t really working as expected so there is a lot of dead weight for others to pick up when other people don’t do what they’re supposed to do. I don’t think that part is fair.

The choices we make in editing the text are going to be to take out all the unnecessary lines about jealousy and keep the main points that really go along with the plot of the play. So we keep the stuff that highlights the theme but also adds crucial information about the text.

My understanding of the plot of the play is getting better since we were assigned the project. When we were reading the play, we only read each part once or twice and had discussions about it, but since now we are going back and taking everything apart this would be our third or fourth time reading everything so I got a better understanding of it since this is not the first time I am reading this. It seems like I am finding out things and getting a better understanding of things that I did not have the first, or even the second time around.

My current progres on the report is somwhat favorable.  I have gained monolouges for all four acts I was assigned with:  Act 1 Scenes 1, 2, and 3, and Act 2 Scene 1.  Today, I gave them to the group leader, Michael Doyle.  I am currently waiting for the script to be fully complete.

Unfortunately, I am waiting for my groupmates to finish their line-hunts in their progress.  My the girls in my group haven't finished their parts, so this could be a problem.  I am at least somewhat impatient, but they have difficulties, so I might as well cut them some slack.

I understand how revenge took place in the play.  Iago wanted it and he got it by tricking Othello into wanting revenge on Desdemona.  He created a villanous trap of vengance and dispair for Othello leading him to his doom.  But it brought him to his own as well.

Okay so now that marchella is back we're in business. Marchella is now caught up in everything and is aware of what is going on. Nicole is almost done her text searching for important quotes. Lonnie is pretty much already done, and tonight he will be making the script for us with my help hopefully if he doesnt get to carried away and does it all himself. Knowing Marchella she will probably have all of her stuff done by tommorrow or wednesdays latest. It's a lot of text to cover but she wont have any difficulty doing this.

Me on the other hand im 90 percent done all of my reading i just need a little bit more and i'll be all done and helping lonnie with the script. The entire grouped agreed with the idea of using puppets as our show. Now that, that part is taken care of all we need now is a script.

Right now all that we've done is split up the work. By this point everyone should know what she and he are responsible for. As you can see on top that the work is split among us evenly as possible. We are all scanning the text for anything to help us with our theme "Jealousy". Soon enough we should have lines and quotes under each chapter we read on google docs. (Only the important themes of course.) As of right now thats all we have and we are all aware that we have little time to do this and we must manage our time wisely, and work on this consistently or else the work will fall in around on us and we're going to die

We chose Sarah as the team manager. We based our jobs on the reliability of the person. We decided on the scenes just in order. The amount of scenes was given also according to the reliability.

Group Dynamics:

The relationships between some people are kind of rough. We are being as fair as we can to all the members. Some of us are a little clueless on what to do. Were getting things done.

Editing:

I chose my lines by getting some from my Inspiration document. I chose the important lines by finding lines that change the meanings in the book and have events in them.

Im not sure about this one.

BLOG 1 (OTHELLO)

We have completed a lot so far we have I actually don’t know of hand because I forgot my password to get access to the document. But what I have seen so far everyone is taking care of their desired portion of the project.

So far the project is going well everyone in my group is taking responsibility for their parts. I thought it would be a problem since it was a group effort. But Dario Rainone who was elected as team manager makes sure everyone understands the aspects of the project that involve him or her. He also constantly checks to make sure you are on task I think he is a great fit for team manager and is a huge reason we are having success as a group.

My group plans to make an I movie preventing us from acting on stage. We think this will accompany us well because none of us really like acting in front of a crowd. We also have Mithun who is very familiar with I movie and will make sure it is top quality.

Q4 Benchmark Blog Post 1

My team and I have already started a Google Doc and we have found almost all lines we need for each scene of the play. It's not as easy as it sounds though, there are some difficulties in finding lines and dialogue that goes along with our theme which is revenge. Because every scene isn't extremely lengthy we've had to cut some scenes out for lack of enough informati. My group is well put together I feel. None of us are slackers and we get what needs to get done because we know that others grades depend on our owns. No one is selfish about it and tries to bring us down by not doing what they're assigned to do. That's a good characteristic about us that I can't say I've experienced many times throughtout the schoolyear.

The way that I'm choosing to edit pieces of this play is to make it so that people will be able to tell what my team's theme is and still get the just of the play by seeing these. When I first started reading the play then I was really into it and I still am as I go through this whole benchmark process. As I get deeped and deeper into the benchmark I'm starting to look at things beneath the surface and think more about how the dialogue relates to the theme we've chose.

Othellow group blog 1

This project has a lot of different elements that will effect the outcome.  The first and maybe most important element is the group you are working with for the benchmark.  The quality of the final product really depends on how much work each individual in the group does.  Also it depends on how the group is able to communicate with each other and work well with each other.  When my group was created I was feeling good about the members.  I consider narayan one if not the best student in my stream.  I know he would be willing to work hard and i could depend on him.  This mad me r because in most groups i have been in this year my main job was to motivate my group members.  Having him made this job not needed.  My other two members are also good students so this group should do well.  So far we have worked well together.  Their is work up on the google doc, and I believe we will be done the rough draft by tuesday.  We have not had any major problems.  The closest thing you could call a problem was the theme.  Shannel didnt think that jealousy would have that many quotes.  We all disagreed and decided on jealousy as our theme.  We had a good discusion about the them and how its all through the book.  Some members in my team pointed out events that i had not yet thought of.  I pointed out to shannel how the aftermat of our theme could be included in our play.  For instance othellow killing Desdemona.  We seem to be learning from each other.  The only worry i have is really making this script work.  We have to include important plot events and lines that show our them throughout the play.  This is hard but if we continue to work together this should turn out well.

So far in this project wou team is doing good. In the group I am the team member and John is the play director. So far john and mostly finished his lines and Andrey and I have all of our lines finished. We have out google doc started as well and are adding any lines we find to it as well as updating thecheck list outside of the room.

Some things that have been a sucess for our group are that we able to devide the lines we need to findand were able to start finding lines right away. We have done everything that is needed so far including making the google doc and gettign everyone in the group to join it. One thing that I have been a little worried about is that Ashirah is in our group too and if she comes back then we will need to find a way to make her part of the project.

Othello Blog 1

Process: We made our Google Doc also some of the lines are done. We decided on what we are going to do and it is going pretty well.

Group Dynamics: Well we are pretty good at working together and we are making decisions as a group. Every one is on their own on doing their parts and we should be done and good to go soon.

Editing: Since we did not come to anything that we have to edit of each others we are still working on our own parts. We are planning on doing either a pod cast or a regular movie and this will be edited as we go along.

Evolving Understanding: Well first when I was reading the book I didn’t think that deep about what each person was saying and what it meant through out the whole book, but after I reread each line it seems to me that every line has its own meaning. I choose the lines that best fit my theme, misunderstanding, which meant I had to pick the scenes where if a character said something and it meant something else to a different character. For example when Iago talks to Cassio about Bianca, while Othello thinks Cassio and Iago is talking about Desdemona.

Group members: Lonnie M.-Maxx K.- Nicole C.- Marchella B.

This whole plan for the project has me laughing and my head hanging low shaking. It sounds like a really good project, I give it that, creativity is only about 40% of the project, better than most of the projects so far. The reason I enjoy it is because of the wacked out ideas on how to set it up, my group members and I were having, but the reason it isn't as good as it could be, well that has 2 reasons: 1- This has to be no more than 7 minutes long; 2- we have to use only the lines from the play to reenact the play we're creating, Mr.Chase and your funny ways are going to be the end of me one day.

We assigned our group to specific jobs not too long ago. Maxx is the big guy in charge, to us he's known as the team leader, I am taking care of the directing part, our buddy Nicole is taking care of the props for the play, and since Marchella's been absent recently we're not sure what to make her big responsibility. I can't speak for the rest of my team on this, but I've gotten a headstart by completing 2 scenes from the acts I was assigned too. I'm pretty sure our team is going to pass this project with soaring colors.

Theme=Jealous

So far whatt my group has done is split up the work, hand out jobs, and starting to look up quotes for our script.Julian does all of act I, i do all of act I, Zach all of act III and Kiara all of act IV. i;m team manger and Julian is like the director person.

Some of the difficulties of working together is that some of us get frusterated easily and some goof off sometimes.Sometimes its hard to get everyone focused because there's something to distract us. but then we can get back on track and get work done and not argue.

what we plan on doing is getting all the lines we need and putting them in an order that makes sense and then editing it to a modern day version. About the understand of Othello, i have gotten a better understanding of it now that we have finished reading it.the theme we chose develops more and more every act and it gets even deeper because of Iago saying things and people beleiving them.

Othello Blog One

So far in my team we have given out jobs for everyone, who does what section in the book and who makes sure that everything is getting done, and who is in charge of making sure that our presentation of the benchmark is in order. We have also started to look at each others inspiration files so that we can get only the most important lines from each scene. After setting up the Google documents page there have been a few posts with what each team member wanted top put into the sections that they were assigned.
Working in a team has been nice because there would be too much work to get done if this was an individual project, it was also nice that we got to pick about half of the people who were in our group, that way we could take who Mr. Chase thought we would work well with and also the people who we know we would work well with. This way we get a group that is pretty good and will get the work done as planned. It was nice to see that most of the work that we had given to each other was done when we had planned for it with the acceptation of a few things. The only thing that is kind of difficult about my group is that one of the members is on simple finder so he cannot get Google documents to work while he is in school, but that was easy enough to fix and we got over that pretty fast.
As a group we have not gotten around to editing what other have put up on the Google Docs page, but once we have everything up and go over what everyone has put up there that will be the next step.
One part of this project is that I actually have to pay more attention to the parts that I was assigned so I actually get a bit of a better understanding of the book. I had a really hard time figuring out what was going on in Othello and it was hard for me to be able to see what was going on and translate things accurately into normal day language, but now that I only have to focus on a few parts of the text the play is starting to make more sense to me and I can definitely see the underlying themes that are not completely obvious just from reading the book.

My Group= Mekeda, Lucas, Shannel, Me

 Benchmark Topic= Jealousy

So far, my group has found quotes relating to the topic in Act 1 and Act 5. The project is going wel. We used our in-class time to find the quotes we have so far, and we have already discuseed and decided how we will present the final project. It will be a series of monologues for important scenes involving certain characters, instead of just straight up text reading. Also, we have decided to get more quotes and start editing over the weekend.

Working as a group has not been a problem for us. All members work efficiently and do not waste time. Our successes are that we stay on the same page and don't get off point when having discussions, we work seriously and diligently, and we get along with each other. No one argues or has trouble comunicating. The only difficulty the group has had so far was that we had trouble deciding on how we would present the final project, since none of us really were too concerned about how we presented. So,we all just agreed on and picked monologues.

In terms of understanding the text, I have gotten a better understanding since the project started. I see how characters show their jealousy without saying it. Also, I've seen that the jealousy started earlier than i thought. For example, when the story begins (on the first page, in fact) Iago talks of his disappointment and disgust at Cassio receiving the lieutenancy instead of him. Iago puts his jealouusy out for the audience to see as soon as possible, not exactly a smart move, but it still helped me to understand him a little more, as well as the concept of jealousy in the rest of Othello.

Otello Blog 1

I think we can easily say that my group and me are perfectly on schedule in order to complete the script for the third of January. In fact, we picked a theme, jealousy, and we have obviously divided equally the work that needs to be done. Furthermore, pretty much all of my team members have already started to find the lines related to our theme, and the plot itself. Initially, I thought it would have been easy to work on this project as a group. Instead, I had a few difficulties in explaining to some of my partners how to identify the lines we need in order to form a good script. Now however, we are all set, and everybody knows exactly what to do. Nevertheless, we had a brief discussion about how to present the script. Initially we were thinking of an iMovie video, but then we realized that a podcast could be just as effective and valid. Eventually, we decided to create a video, but in case we meet any sort of technical difficulties, we will do the podcast instead. By reading the book more accurately, in order to find the lines related to jealousy, I realized that quite a lot of passages in the book has to do with our theme. Essentially, almost all the important lines can be interpreted so that the reader will identify the relevant theme as the jealousy.

Process Benchmark Blog

Well so far my group members and I have picked a theme which is revenge. We have also, started to  find lines that circle around our theme. However it is quite dififcult because the theme that we have there isn't that much stuff to work with. Seeing as how most of the book isn't about revenge because most of the people don't do anything for another person to pratice revenge on them. So its calmly frustrating but it's ok i guess for now. Last, we have decided that we r going to make a podcast as our choice of presentation and that is fine with me because i hate acting lol.

First recorded lines.

My current team log:

We got along pretty well. We helped to negotiate how our project was able to go. I gathered monolouges for my acts, and delivered them to the group. They liked them. I did a good job in understanding how revenge related they were, and I comprehended Iago's vengeful ambitions. One groupmate had trouble with her acts, and so I reccomended her to skip acts she doesn't find a single line about revenge in.

“The parent company of a cigarette maker paid for a U.S. study that said increased use of CAT scans can prevent lung cancer deaths.” Stated by Cancer Compass. Its said that about 80 percent of lung cancer patients would have a higher chance of survival after a CAT scans.

Many of the cigarette companies have ensured the grant to the Foundation for Lung Cancer making the issue more important because if the cigarette companies are trying to help and prevent lung cancer there is a chance that their might be something else to worry about what could be happening but it also could mean that the people’s demands have been heard out by the companies and that they have realized the problem that is being caused by cigarettes.

ILP

My experiences in the ILP have felt random a few times before.  First I had to make my own RPG Maker game, and now I am trying to work on Dr. Java at a special college.  So, it's not always clear to me.  The old ILP jobs weren't very fun, and the new ones are, but they are hard and confusing.  But I still think this is better than the old ILP.

Drexel's RAD LAB

My organization is Drexel University. I work there at the RAD LAB. This is where they help develop education tools for teachers and students alike. They also help with advertising Drexel's campus and programs within their education division. I do various things from organizing files to filming and editing films captured by the RAD LAB team. I guess you should be somewhat computer savvy. I'm not very computer savvy but I know how to do what they ask of me. I am learning how to edit media and programs also I've learned how to quickly organize files. Sometimes the work can be a breeze and sometimes the work can be slow and boring. If you don't like to work hard then play hard, then this is not the ILP for you but if you don't mind working first before playing then check it out.
