Native Child

Posted by Emma Connell in STORY-001 on
When I was little, like around the age of 8 or 10, I would get super tan. I looked like a little native child. I had bruised up legs and always had two braids. I want to get that tan again. Hopefully, I won't look like a native child this time around but I'm willing to take my chances.

Morning Bus

Posted by Ralen Robinson in STORY-001 on
Everyday since school begun I've taken the same bus at the same time give or take a few days. In staying in this pattern of life I've come to see regular bus goers. There's this guy that takes the bus mostly all week hes missing an arm but seems really cool. Every time he gets on the bus he uses his nub & hand to text it's really fascinating. He looks like a generic white guy but just so happens that his right arm is missing thus leaving a nub. From my observations hes married thanks to the silver band that's placed on his ring finger. Mostly all the time I see him he receives a text on the 7 block radius of his bus duration. I believe its his wife because one day  I looked over his shoulder to see a naughty text I'm way too nosy.  Other then that hes sensible due to the same pair of shoes he wears & on occasion I'll see him in flip flops. He shops at trader joes when I catch the late bus hes there getting his grocery on.

Mnchner Kindl

Posted by Megan Doe in STORY-001 on
I was carried around on a beer barrel by men in lederhosen and women in dirndls. I may have been 6 years old? I made my German (Bavarian) grandpa proud that day.

"Every Oktoberfest begins with a parade led by the Munich mayor and the “Münchner Kindl” (Munich child, the city’s mascot, usually portrayed by a girl). Then comes the ceremonial tapping of the first beer keg at 12 noon. That honor goes to the mayor, who shouts out the traditional cry of “O’zapft is!” (“It is tapped!”) Only then can the beer start flowing and the festivities begin."

The Bank

Posted by Evett Hawks in STORY-001 on
Yesterday i went to the bank with my mom too get my first credit card. we get to the bank and this woman inside is  cashing a check. the teller then said too her that they could not cash her check for some reason. She flipped out and started talking really really loud about how she couldn't get her check and make a huge ruckus. She then got up and said to the tellers " This is why i can't go to banks because it's always african americans coming up in here and disrespecting me and denying me service" Well i laughed my mom grimaced and the other two tellers just stared at the lady like she was an idiot she then talked for 30 mins and left and i finally got out of there. At least there was entertainment
