Hello class

I have given my slide the title of "Just Taking My Time" because that is exactly what i do with my life. I don't rush things, I never do things all at once. The tortoise is a strong representation of my life.

I bled the picture to make it seem as it was coming onto to the slide from offstage.
The tortoise was a visual aid for my slide.
There is also lots of empty space so the audience can focus on just the words and the picture.

The bolded and contrasted "TIME" is so the audience can focus on that one word and know it is important because it stands out.

REFLECTION

From this project I have learned presentation zen. I have always seen billboards and slides with good eye-catching designs. I have never known the proper names for the effects until now. I have learned about “bleeding” and “kerning”. I learned about the basic fundamental knowledge of slide design. Color contrast, boldness, and font is something I improved in. I feel that knowing more about the slide design will help me with presentations in my other classes.

I followed the website "presentation zen" the most. I got ideas for my color scheme. Then I found pictures that expressed my idea and followed my color scheme. I then used ideas from Zach Holman about kerning and alpha. Once I had all of the pictures and words on mine I wanted to keep the scheme so I added little stars in the same color of the rest of my slide. I did this because it added a sense of completion that I didn't feel was there before. I chose my color scheme because it added contrast. I feel that I showed that I knew what I was doing and I didn't make it too complicated in the process.

Hello, my name is Brian. I have many hobbies. I love to hangout with friends, listen to music, play sports, and mostly dance.

When I was little I use to sit outside and listen to Michael Jackson on my CD Player, yes CD Player that’s how long ago it was. Even as a kid i use to dance, at my Aunts party I did the moon walk with my cousins uncle. We had everyone laughing and clapping and singing along.

I love to shop for hats and shoes. Nike is the best!

My favorite music artist would definitly have to be Drake.

My favortie movies are all the Transformers and all 3 Step Up movies.

UPDATE:
Because many suggested that I get rid of the quotes on my slide, I decided to do so and delete them, because like they said, it actually is more meaningful. Additionally, the audience felt that the words were covering my face too much. In actuality, it was supposed to cover to have the audience focus on the text. To improve the contrast even further, I switched everything to the opposite side. So now, the yellow period is even more outstanding than the other text to solidify the statement on the slide. Finally, to make the slide come back to life, I fixed the shadowing on the text to make sure it still had the "night and day" effect to it.

Throughout this slide design unit, I learned a ton. I used to think that slides were designed so that you can read them to your audience. It turns out that slides were used for a reason far from that. I now know that slides are nothing but a VISUAL AID, meaning it’s supposed to help you a little bit by helping you remember key points in a presentation but a Keynote of PowerPoint presentation is 90% made for your audience to follow. I learned from websites like Presentation Zen, Zach Holman, and Apple.com that less is more, picture backgrounds can be modified via Alpha, and that color contrast is key in a slide.

My slide is entitled “The Dreamer.” For my color scheme, I used a pallet of light-ish primary colors, because the contrast with each other very much. The background of the slide was composed of a fade from yellow to a baby blue. The yellow represents the day, while blue represents the night. The yellow of the background in the slide “shines” a light onto the letters in the slide and the letters then have a shadow. I used the website http://www.colorsontheweb.com/colorcontrasts.asp as a reference to see which colors contrasted the most with each other so that the words would be relatively clear. The punctuation and quotes in the slide are in different but bolder colors to emphasize the statements.

The text is shown to be very important because of its boldness and contrast to the background of the slide. I adjusted the kerning on some words so that they would appear more or less important and impacting on my audience. Since the quotes are in the upper left corner, they almost sway the audience to look at the bottom where the more important text is, the title. I used plenty of emptiness to keep my slide very simple to understand, and so that when the few words on the slide were read that the audience could look at the speaker. The picture bleeds off of the slide, and the picture is also in a way “looking” into the yellow light of the background on the slide.

“Hello class. My slide is about the effects of peer pressure. It says that peer pressure equals disaster. That’s just what I think of peer pressure but someone else might say differently. I’ve had many experiences with peer pressure and this is the way I describe peer pressure because of it. In elementary school peer pressure got me into a group of girls thinking I’d be picked on less if I was apart of their click. Another peer pressure was when my boyfriend wanted me to do something that I wasn’t comfortable with but I did it anyway to make him happy. Both pressures ended in me being hurt more than before. So to me peer pressure equals disaster. I chose this backround just to show what disaster and give the presentation color and picture. Then I put white letters to contrast the design and used cracked letters to give the words some pizaz. I tried to keep the words simple and nice so I chose peer pressure and disaster. Thank you and that’s all.”

I learned that the way pictures and words are done make a big impact and image on people and their thinking. The size, shape, color, and way it’s positioned effects it’s outlook to others. Contrast is pretty darn awesome in slides and shows a lot. I like experimenting with slide designs and pictures and colors. I also used this source. I think it looks better this time than before. The words and font are clearer and more legible. The white lettering is better looking and contrasting than the orange lettering.

This slide shows me. It might be simple, but really, its very complex. I'm a very complex person as you can tell. I'm from Mississippi, but I live in Philadelphia. I attend Science Leadership Academy...GO ROCKETS! I also have an amazing sense of humor! I love my friends, they are my everything. I love music! Just to name a few I love LMFAO, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj. I also love sports! My favorite teams are Real Madrid for soccer, Miami Heat for basketball, and the Eagles for football. Also, I am a National Spokesperson for a youth health program called Fuel up to Play 60. When I watch TV I love watching Modern Family, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and the Middle. They are hilarious!!! This is just a little bit about me. Talk to me to learn more! :)

p.s. My family mean the WORLD TO ME. I didn't put them in this because they can't be in the category as all my other interests. They are in the category of their own. They are spectacular. I love them more than I love myself...that's a lot of love.

Now to the school and technology perspective of my project. For the background of my project I chose to have a dark gray. I chose a shade of dark gray because gray matches a lot of colors. I also had a lot of pictures that had a lot of color so I wanted to use gray because it fit perfectly. The link below really helped me. This helped me figure out where to place each picture. For example I placed the Fuel up to Play 60 logo next to the rainbow picture of me and my friends. This and the colors fit very well.

Erratic is a word meaning random which is a main part of who I know I am. I decided to put the main things that describe me in the powerpoint page because it's who I am. Duh! I also put in the few things the that presentation Zen link said makes a presentation look great. Like bleeding! Contrast and of course not cluttering my page with messiness but leaving some blank spaces. Or as said in presentation zen, take a chance! Also the kerning of my words were actually modified to fit my piece.

My slide, I think, incorporates what we've learned. It has a bright blue background with large chocolate brown letters. The background makes the letters POP! The size of the letters is also used from the websites. Each letter is above "100 point" font.

I chose my the things to put on my slide mainly because they reflected who I am. I also tried to stick with some main colors, with a few exceptions. My colors were red and black. I have a yellow flower that adds some major contrast, and also the Statue of Liberty for contrast. I have some white on there, which is generic and contradictory to the other colors in the slide. I like the way my flower does not go across the whole page, and it is not a full flower. I thought of doing that because of what we learned from the Ikea ads.

I put my name in to have that be the central focus. Then, I put things am intersted in surrounding my name. My name is eye-catching. It is the thing that will most be remembered. My color os not distracting, but will draw attention. My text is big. There are very few words. The colors of the signs are corresponding so the eye will not have to take in too much. This is why i placed everything as I did.

Basically, what i did was took a lot of pictures from what i like doing, enjoy watching, and some of my favorite things in life all into one slide. I decided that rather than using text, I would use pictures to show my name. I used layout and size to decide that the L in my name would be bigger so that it would catch people’s attention. I kept the E, A and H in my name all the same size, which was significantly smaller than my L and actually fit into it. Because of the layout of my pictures becoming letters, I have also demonstrated unity.

On my presentation I made sure that I had a counteracting of COLORS from the CONTRAST of the darker red to the black the the lighter red fonts. Also i made sure the SIZE of the fonts that were more important were larger then that of the other fonts. Also the SIZE of the pictures compared to the fonts are a little larger. Also the alignment and patterns of the pictures were in corners.

In my presentation I made sure to have a neat alignment with symmetry. I used a black background to contrast with all of the other colors that were put on my slide. All the things that are about me are in a size that fits perfectly around my picture.

I changed the fonts in my slide. This added more style which gave my slide a more eye catching appeal. I also changed the opacity of some of my words and pictures. This made them fade into the background which allowed my focal point to change to the items that really mattered. I made it so that people wanted to look at my slide and when they did they would see what really mattered first.

I changed the whole aspect of my slide by adding a black background first. The contrast between the dark background and the bright colors adds a lot to the slide. It gets the point across while still telling you so much about my topic. I bled the fist off the bottom because it would look weird if it was just in the middle. I wish that the black around the side would come off as well. However I feel like this is a big improvement on the slide. THe viewer gets so much out of it.

I changed my slide around because I noticed there were to many pictures in the wrong place. After my piers presentations I learned to use designe technics like bleeding my pictures and contrasting. Also if one of my pictures was cut off I learned to put it on the fram of the slide. In class I learned how to give criticism on someones project too.

In this slide I demonstrate color contrast. I wanted to keep the slide simple, so I color coordinated the quote with colors that would go right with the picture. Since the quote had the same word I colored that word because it's so important to the quote and it makes the quote pop.

My slide contains many of the skills taught on the Presentation Zen and Slide Design website. I incorporated enlarged size to grasp attention. The concept “One slide, one point” was an idea I remembered when creating the slide. I left empty space, as recommended in Presentation Zen to put focus on what I believe was important. Finally, I gave a visual theme by having the font of the quote coincide with the border of the slide.

For my second slide, I reinvented everything. I started from scratch. I put a picture in the center of my slide, because that is what someone who is looking at this's eye will be drawn to first. I put a quote on top, and then added the people on the bottom to provide balance to the slide. I used the same color's through out the slide. My color palate included white, green and black. The earth in the middle gave a contrast and helped the colors blend together nicely. Everything I put on the slide was purposely placed to provide a sense of unity.

When you take a glance at my slide, you may see a couple of butterflies, flowers with a cool design, a purple back-round and my name in an aqua blue. We all that thats the only thing on my slide but theres more to it!
When you see my slide design the first thing you will notice is the color scheme. The main colors used are purple pink and blue. Those three colors are very appealing to they eye and are also my favorite colors. Presentation Zenk stated that the text should be as big as i wants. Theres never a limit. But I disagree because my name Chaveliz, would not catch the audiences attention if its written across the entire slide. The slide also contains a lot of repetition. Not by word but image. I have a many butterflies because it brings peace in every single country. There is a lot of bleeding. All of the images on the corners are cut off because it catches the audiences eye. They would wonder where the images are coming from and/or going to. Remember to pick the leaset colors as posible. Not to light or bright because then you won't catch the audiences attention. Have fun designing your next presentation because you will be surprised with your outcome.

This is my slide on soccer. Soccer for me is more than just a sport. I live soccer. Every chance I get, I want to play soccer.
I started playing when I was 9 years old. I didn't know how to play the sport, but as the years went on, I got better and better at it.
One day I hope to play for a professional team.
For this slide, I used the features on Keynote. It helped me organize my photos and my title. I also wanted to pick a color that would make the photos on my slide stand out so people could focus on them more. The photos were the main thing I wanted everyone to focus on.

I changed my slide because it was too much going around. i just thought about everything that was on my slide and just came up with the backboard idea. I made many changes to my slide, I've listened to people's comments on others and realized that you don't want to put to much on one slide. People won't pay attention. When you see my slide it is very simple. In the background the viewer can see pointe shoes and in the front you see the words dance, sing,love live. I wanted to make sure that my slide was very simple and didn't want to much color contrast. I kept the colors simple with black, gray and the hot pink shoes and words. I used the pop of hot pink to catch you eyes. I catch the eyes of the viewer I made the text for each word different. For this slide i made sure that it was not to much going on and that each space of the slide was used wisely.

Before my slide seemed to be cluttered and all over the place. Ms. Hull told me that the less I had the more eye catching it would be. I added just one picture this time with a quote so that my slide was more focused on the quote and not so much the pictures, which is why I don’t have pictures on there. Next I used alpha on a the pencil to get rid of the background that it came with. By adding the pencil I think it looked more creative and make it seems as though I wrote it myself.

I changed my slide in a few ways. Mostly, I got rid of the clutter. I deleted the items that took away from my slide. Then, I was left with the flower, background, and music notes. I kept the flower off center, because I thought it added some depth to the page. Also, the contrast of the bright yellow flower and darker background was pleasing to look at. I kept the music notes because I liked the way they looked flowing across the bottom of the page.

Something I used in my slide to make it eye catching and memorable was using the picture to draw attention to the words. The sun points down towards the quote but is neutral enough to not draw away from the slide itself.
I used warmer colors like oranges and yellows to compliment eachother.
I also put the quote "let the sunshine in" on the the ground going down the trail as if the quote itself were taking a stroll.

This revised edition of my slide has been done based on what I learned from the different things that I learned about slide presentation from everybody else's slides. I changed basically everything about my slide, including the horrible transitions that were on the original slide. This is simply a whole new slide that consists of one of the main topics from each of the websites that less is more. This slide only 2 different parts, my picture, and the titile. This gets my message across and shows the main things that I want you all to pay attention to.

For the comments students have received during the presentations about a month ago, I have utilized that as a guide to help me make final improvements on my final slide. But now, I will be describing what my first attempt looked like. The color scheme of my original one was red and white as you guys can see below. Also, as I have learned in previous classes the alpha tool makes things look more realistic. The stars and the plane as you can visually see are alpha’d. The stars I made so they can become the second main focus in which is why I made it the background. Although, the plane is uniquely aligned towards the corner but in the language of media fluency this is considered “bleeding”. When something bleeds it makes it appear as if it that substance was actually there. The rule of the thirds is a handy thing whjen it involves alignment but In a more fansy and professional manner this action can be seened on the quote. Concluding, that these were something’s I learned on the website of presentation Zen.

Giving credit to the website in which is located below labeled as a (Resource) this website helped me realized what colors can really go together yet helped me see which colors are warm and cold that could make a good appearance on a project like this.
