Negative Space.

Negative Space is the part of the picture that you did not draw. It is the extra space left on the paper that is not colored on.
In my drawing I found negative space by placing the parts of the picture that were positive space on the picture.
I was not here for the stool drawing.
This helps an artist see negative space because it's the opposite color and it is the opposite part of the picture.
Seeing things in negative space does help enhance drawings because you can see more in the picture.

Jalisa Smith: Negative Space

Negative space is the space around an object that wouldn't normally be drawn. For example, if you look at a glass you can draw the shape of that glass by coloring in the space around it. In the drawings below, I drew stools using negative space by coloring in the space that I felt would help shape the stools and then I outlined the stools. In my cut-out art I had to cut out the negative and positive space of the bat.
I believe it helps an artist to see in negative space because it makes the drawing more precise and the shapes are bolder because it looks more accurate. While in a regular drawing, you are just looking at in your perspective and drawing the shapes that you believe are there. I believe that seeing drawings in negative space brings out the art more because I can see the shapes better and it actually looks like what the Artist was drawing.

Neg. Space

A. What is negative space?

Negative space is space between an object or around it.

B. Explain how you found negative space in 1. Your cut out? 2. In your stool drawing?

You kind of had to picture it first and try to find out what was negative and what was positive.
In the drawing I just drew the object first and then shade it in around the shape of the idem.

C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

To grasp the basic shapes you can use when you draw different stuff.

D. Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?

I think so because then it would be way easy to draw anything you please because you know the basic shapes and then you can just fill in the details as you go.

Sara Nesbitt: Negative Space.

A. Negative space is all of the space around an object. It's just the empty space.

B. I first drew the stools, and then after I had the object I used a darker shade of my pencil and shaded the rest of the space that was not part of the object, but just there. There was also an orange piece of paper behind the drawing, and everywhere you could see orange was negative space, so you just color that in.
In my cut outs, I just cut every part of the tree out and then found the outline. Everything else I put on the other side.

C. It helps when artists can see negative space because it gives the picture a 3D atmosphere, and helps them see all parts of the picture, instead of just the outline. You can't draw an accurate picture with just the outline.

D. Yes, seeing negative spaces can enhance the drawing because the picture is flat unless you see the entire thing. I believe that the picture won't be complete unless you see every aspect.

Rosemary Flite

Negative space is the space behind an object. You would just draw the shapes you see from behind the object and shade them in.

I found negitive space in my tree by thinking the pink on the left side was positive since that was the actual tree. I found negitive space in my stool by drawling the shapes that are found behind the stool.

It helps an artist to see negitive space because it makes the drawling more accurate and helps you visualize 3-D better.

Yes it enhances drawlings because it makes you think about things more so you can pay attention to the shapes so nothing goes wrong.

MATTHEW MARSHALL NEGATIVE SPACE

A negative space drawing is when you color in everything except the background. You outline the drawing but then instead of coloring in the object, you color the outside.

In my cutout I found negative space by looking at the darker spots. In my drawing however I outlined the object then shaded around it.

It helps an artist to see negative space because it makes it clear what they should draw.

Seeing in negative space helps to give an art work a background. It helps make the drawing more 3-D.

Campaign of Love

I'm thinking about starting my own Campaign of Love. Yesterday was the DAY of Free Love, where everyone who cared drew a heart on their wrist for the people that are/ were depressed, attempted suicide, or have committed suicide. To me, this people need to recognize love and care for longer than a day, so I;m considering drawing a heart on my wrist, or somewhere else on my body everyday for a month or more. I'm excited about it.

First Day Back (4/25)

Ah I think I had butterflies in my stomach this morning for some strange reason. Ive been having this problem after having a longer break from my learning environment ever since like elementary school. I mean for gods sake, Im going back to the same environment that I have left not too long ago. I think my Polak body is just auto sensitive to nervousness in even the slightest of ways. Its a shame because it makes my morning miserable. Then I get to school, and well everything gets much better! :]
