Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundent, Netherlands. Van Gogh was known as a post-impressionist painter, in the 20th century. His art was among the lines of notable beauty, emotion, and color. Van Gogh had a mental illness, and was poor as well as unknown for the majority amount of his life. When Van Gogh was 15 years old he was forced to leave school and get a job. He worked with his uncle and then got transferred to a gallery in London. He fell in love with the English culture as well as a women named Eugenie Loyer. She rejected his marriage proposal and he soon turned his life to God. He had dreams of becoming a minister. But failed to follow the rules and things that came with what it took to be one. Giving up on being a minister, he moved to Brussels to become an artist. His younger brother Theo supported him finically. Van Gogh had a different out look on women. He had a “catastrophic” love life. He wanted women who had troubles because he felt like he could help them. Fell in love with his cousin, then moved to The Hague and fell in love with a prostitute named Clasina Maria Hoorick. She became his model, his companion, and his mistress. But soon left. In 1885 he began his first project, “Potato Eaters.” Van Gogh moved to Paris and lived his brother Theo. Moving out Van Gogh spent all his money on paint, living off bread, coffee and absinthe. He began to feel sick and somewhat strange. He sipped on turpentine and had eaten paint. Theo had paid someone to watch over Van Gogh , but he soon left. Van Gogh ran after Paul Gauguin with a razor. He cut off his ear, and paid for a prostitute named Rachel at the local brothel. “Keep this object carefully,” is what he told her. The police found him and took him to the hospital. He was admitted to the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Remy-de-Provence after the people had signed a petition stating they thought he was dangerous. On July 27, 1890, Van Gogh went out to go paint but this time he went with a loaded pistol. He shot himself in the chest but it did not kill him. On July 29,1890 Vincent Van Gogh died in the arms of his brother Theo. Today Vincent Van Gogh is considered to be the greatest Dutch painter after Rembrandt. He completed more than 2,000 works of art.
Piet Mondrian was born in Amersfoort, Netherlands on March 7,1872. As a young boy his family moved to Winterswijk in the east of the country where he was introduced to art at a very early age. His father Pieter Cornelius Mordriaan was a drawing teacher as well as his uncle Fritz Mondriaan.
In 1892, Mondrian entered the Academy of Fine Art in Amsterdam and began his career as a teacher in Primary Education, but he also practiced painting. Most of his paintings were landscapes of his native country such as , windmills, fields and rivers.
In 1911, Mondrian moved to Paris and changed his name by dropping an “a” from Mondriaan to show his departure from The Netherlands. While in Paris he was influenced by the Cubist style of Picasso and George Braque and this appeared heavily in his work.
In 1938, Mondrian left Paris and moved to London. After the Netherlands were invaded and Paris fell in 1940 he left London for Manhattan, where he remained until his death.
After his death, two Mondrian friends opened an exhibit known as “The Wall Works.” They have been exhibited twice sine Mondrian’s death at Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art (1983/1995-96), once in SoHo at the Carpenter + Hochman Gallery (1984), once each at Galerie Tokoro in Tokyo, Japan (1993), the XXII Biennial of Sao Paulo (1994), The University of Michigan (1995) and for the first time in Europe at the Akademie der Kunste (Academy of The Arts), in Berlin (February 22- April 22, 2007).

Spirited Away was my favorite movie as a child. I have seen it at least twenty times. So I chose to draw the character no face. He can be seen below.
"Hayao Miyazaki // Nausicaa.net." Hayao Miyazaki // Nausicaa.net. N.p., n.d. Web. 12 Nov. 2013.My first collage is all about how fast time passes in high school. I made it out of transpass that I have been saving transpass scenes freshman year. So I chose a mix from 2011-2013 and I ended with one that shows graduation. The second and fourth one show how the media shows Black women. They all have straight hair and are thin with perfect skin. However the third one shows what I see Black women as. They are colorful, different shapes and sizes, and some have natural hair. And diversity is needed in the media.
