Journal 13 (Q4 English BM)

This was a Journal response to the question "How does your environment shape the kind of person you become?". At first I didn't know how to answer the question but then I simply thought about a few of my own experiences as well as what I read form inside "Kindred".

Your environment shapes the type of person you become by it being something to observe. For example if you grow up in a successful family with nothing but doctors, chances are that one-day you’ll become a doctor too. However, your environment may make a person want to be different than everybody else. Like if you grow up with an abusive dad, seeing that may make you be the complete opposite of him. In my opinion, it depends on the type of person you are and how you perceive things.

Your environment shapes the type of person you become by it being what you’re around which rubs off on you after a while. In my life I know for sure that my mother has influenced the road I want to take in life as well as the decisions I make everyday. However, it may be different for another person, For example, if you grow up with an abusive dad, seeing that may make you be the complete opposite of him. It depends on how impressionable you are and how you perceive things. I think that no matter what your environment is or looks like, that you should still be you and do the things you want to do.
