Maya Bright's Capstone
For My Capstone I wanted to do something that educates people. I decided to make a website that focuses on the history of evolution of African-American hair. care has always been more than just a style and a black community, it represents identity, culture, creativity and self-expression. When I leave SLA I want to become a licensed cosmetologist, and making this website talks about things we don’t really hear about anymore that includes the history of African American hair. I created this Capstone to inform people of the significance and beauty of something I love doing. I also want people who do want to work in the beauty field in the future to know the history of what they love doing and just like me. A style isn’t just a hairstyle, it has a meaning behind it, it has a history behind it. Hair connects to confidence, representation, and definitely culture and it will continue to be an important part of African-American culture.
