Negative space.

Negative space is the space around the object. It is like the background of the object.

The way I found my negative space in my cut-out was from first cutting the tree in one background color then place it on another color background. In my stool drawing I drew the shapes inside of the objects with the orange paper in the background.

Negative space helps an artist because it can help see how the drawing looks like even more realistic.

Yes, seeing in negative space enhances drawings because it will help you draw it more detailed and correctly.
