We Wear the Mask (English Journal #21)

We wear the mask to hide our face:
We run around and act carefree,
We smile and laugh-
And hide the truth because
We care too much.

Judgement-
It fills our world 
It's everywhere- 
Up and down and all around
Scared of who will say what,
To who.

We hide and lie 
To please the others
For protection
And appreciation 
But... Why?
