never give up

Posted by Amadou Magassa in English 3 · Block · Y Band on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 12:38 pm

Introduction

What my goals were for the essay was to get people to never think of giving up as an option. Always think that you can do anything you put your mind to. Also to know how important it is to always give something a second chance. I’m proud of me telling these two stories to the class because these two stories were very emotional stories for me to talk about and for me to put it out there for people to see it makes me feel happy about myself. One thing I would improve is to make myself write the story as if I am speaking to someone else so that when they read it still feel like they’re right there with me.

Never giving up

All my life I went through it with people giving up on me, never having faith in me, and never trusting me. I’m getting tired of that so there was this teacher who came outside to look at my creation he decided he was going to put all 12 of the batteries on the battery cart that I made for the robotics club the battery cart collapse. At that moment I felt like I was a failure and everybody gave up on me but I wasn’t going to let that determine who I was. they said that someone else should make the battery cart Instead of me and I wouldn’t let them. When I mean that I wouldn’t let them. I wouldn’t give up on myself even though they’re giving up on me.

If you give up on yourself who else is going to believe in you in that moment of time. when no one wants you to do anything for them and they think you’re a failure. I would always say to myself “if you’re not good enough for yourself you’re not good enough for anyone else.” What I mean by this is If you don’t think you’re good enough to do something or to accomplish something who is going to think you can. So there was another incident where someone didn’t believe in me and guess what it was my friend.

So I laid on the ground and counted to 30 after 30 Seconds I was for sure going to do it. So I started 1, 2, 3, I licked my lips wipe the sweat off my face. But all I heard was Dylan screaming at me say ̈are you scared bro are you really scared You’re a wussy.¨ So I got up excitement rushing through my body, I said to myself you ain’t no wussy you can do this. So when I said to myself you ain’t no wussy I meant that I can do anything when I focus.

But at that time I couldn’t focus because Dylan was putting me down he was making me double think everything. I think that was the reason I fell when I was doing the trick. So what I realized after these two events happened, So know whenever I’m getting doubted or someone saying that I’m a failure. I just will not let that get to me and just focus on myself and what I’m doing at that because that can affect what I’m doing at the time. So what I realized after these two events happened, is that people are always going to have people doubt them and It’s not what you do back to them that makes a difference, it’s what you do back to yourself to not let it get to you that’s what makes the bigger difference.

The bigger picture of never giving up to me is that you are going to finish or accomplish the task or challenge at the time no matter how long it takes me to do it. I will work until the blood drips down my fingers and I can’t even stand to pick up my hand for another second. Then I still get up after like 30 because I can’t be happy with myself unless I finish what I started.

LOTF Essay

In the book Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, there is a group of kids with no adults that get stuck on an island where they get scared of a beast. the only two people that know there's no beast is Piggy and Simon. they do not like them is because of his appearance --  piggy is a chubby boy and he has glasses. Simon knows when to have fun and when to work. You constantly see Ralph and Jack pick on Simon and Piggy because they're different in some way. people treat others differently if they're not the same as them. Like if people are creepy and weird compared to other people that are outgoing and creative they will not get the same treatment.

In the book, Ralph, Piggy, Jack, and Simon are hiding from the beast And thinking of a way to fight it. Jack's told the group that Ralph thinks that they're cowards. At that moment Jack was trying to get them not to trust Ralph so that they will pick Jack to become their chief.“He’s like Piggy, He says things like Piggy. He isn’t a proper chief.” This means two things, he's trying to imply that Peggy is weird and that he doesn't like Piggy. Saying Ralph is like Piggy means that he doesn't like either one of them. Since he said  Ralph is a coward and that he does things like Piggy is basically saying he is a coward. He's using Piggy name in the sentence ever so slightly implying that he doesn't like Piggy too. If people are different and any type of way from the rest of the group. Then no one likes them they try to push them to the side like they're nothing, and because piggy is a fat boy with glasses and is a know it all. but just because they do different things doesn't mean they deserve that punishment.

Right now, Simon is next to the pig’s head and even when the pig is falling apart the flies are still on it.  “Simon’s nose and the blood gushed out they left him alone, preferring the pig's high flavor”, the Lord of the Flies is still hanging on the stick like a black ball. Simon gets up and says, “What else is there to do.”. From the quote, you can see why people think Simon is creepy and weird. He is speaking out loud to a pig head. This quote shows how Simon is different from the other boys. Like he would go off and talk to the pig's head and climbing up mountains to see if a beast is real. At this time Ralph and Piggy were about to join Jack's party and Simon was climbing mountains all by himself to find out if a beast was real. The other kids do not want to be around Simon because they do not believe that the beast is real but Simon does. When he comes back to the group to tell the boys that the beast is harmless they think he is the beast that they didn’t believe in was Simon.

On June 26, 2018, Donald Trump created a Travel ban that affects people from Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. He was afraid of terrorists coming into Our society and messing it up. He wanted to stop terrorism but not all people that come from those countries are terrorists. most people from those countries are trying to just come here to get an education. “Radical Islamic Terrorism must be stopped by whatever means necessary!”, this is saying how he will go through so much just to stop radical Islamic. just because some people in the religion did some bad stuff It doesn't mean you have to prevent everyone from coming to America.

In this sassy, I talked about how people treat others differently if they're not the same as them. So Donald Trump stopping people from Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. When Jack said to Ralph He’s like Piggy, He says things like Piggy. He isn’t a proper chief. Both of these things are making the people that they're doing this to fill a different way and it's just putting people down. Both of things prove my thesis that people treat people differently if they're not the same as them.

Give it a second try

Hey sarah, I know you are doing homework right now in class but I need some advice. There is this girl that I like and I don't know if i should ask her out. what should I do because when I asked out Emily she said no, she said she would never like me, she said I am ugly, she told me to kill myself. What should I do? I been thinking to myself about rather if I should ask her out. This new girl every time she looks at me I know she is the one. Every time she hangs out with me I know and she knows that she is the one for me. This girl is always giving me compliments on my looks and how I am so nice and when I meet the right person I will know. This girl is the beautifulest girl I ever meet and I get to see her everyday in class. she always smell good. If she ever leave I would be very sad that I don't get to see her anymore. Maybe she is trying to tell me that, that person is her. I don't know which way to take the information that she has given me. If I ask her out and she says no, Then she says she was talking about someone else and not her it makes me feel like an idiot. But if I don't ask her and she was talking about her I will never know how she feels about me. Maybe I should ask Chris for some advice. Why are you looking at me like that, you should be telling me that someone will love me one day. Or how I should ask this girl out that I been talking about. Can you at least tell me how should I dress or how would you like me to dress. Maybe I shouldn't ask sarah that, she might know I like her I should just stop thinking about love. No one's ever going to like me. even worse, no one is ever going to love me. Maybe I should just take Emily advice and just go kill myself. Or should I just give it one more try maybe there's actually someone out there for me. You know what maybe Emily was right. I'm ugly, I'm stupid, and I'm retarded. I should just go die, no one's going to love me why don't I just stick it in my head, why don't I just go run away and live in the forest where no one can ever see my ugly face again. You know what maybe I should go talk to her maybe I should ask her why did she say all those mean things to me was it because I'm weird or is it because all those things are actually true. Sarah sarah… why are you Ignoring me Maybe she doesn't like me anymore maybe she heard so much of my problems and it finally got to her that she doesn't care. She wants to talk about herself or maybe she's trying to tell me just ask her out. Forget it maybe I should just go home. I think I'm going inside my head I should think outside the box I just ask her out. Artifact forget it Sarah do you want to go out with me, Oh my God she said yes this whole time I was thinking she was going to say no. Where do I start what do I do what do I say. The first thing I'm going to do is take her on a date then We're going to have sex and we're going to have for kids and then the journey will take us from there.

Teamwork Makes the DreamWork

Posted by Amadou Magassa in English 2 · Pahomov/Rhymer · E Band on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 8:15 am

“Today we're going to be practicing taking a disc from one place to another place he asked us what is that.”

My teamś coach, Kobe, told us that without teamwork there's no team.”

After he said that I felt like we wanted to be a team but we didn't know how to be a team. We were counting on Kobe to teach us how to work as a team.

We split the teams up into two offense versus defense, Kobe threw the ¨discs in the middle and we started playing.¨ Alex cut left and I filled a diss to Alex then he threw it to Phoenix. We were halfway down the field then Kobe said, ¨throw it down the field Amadou then I ran as fast as I could and I felt the green and black turf in between my cleats I felt the breeze go past me as I caught the disc in the air,¨

“Let's try it with no teamwork, and see how that works,” Kobe said.

Then we started it again started with the disc and all Kobe said, “Will someone run all the way down the field .” Then we tried it with teamwork again, so I started with the disc again then I threw it at Phoenix and he threw it back to me. The Ethan had the disc.

Kobe said, ¨Sit down and tell me what were the pros and cons of the practice today.”

Phoenix replied with, “The pros were that we worked as a team and communicated with each other.”

The cons were, we weren’t working together as a team and our communication was not organized.

I finally understood what Kobe was trying to say he was trying to say that if we don't put our head together and work as a team we will never win a game.  when he told us to Try it without teamwork it was an example of how we would play if we don't work together Show us that we have to work together.

Two weeks ago, after school, at 44th and Haverford I had soccer practice. The coach told us we have a game tomorrow and we need to practice controlling the ball, passing it to our teammates,  and getting open. he advised us to gather into small groups where we would pass the ball. There was one defender in each of the group where they were supposed to block the ball, with this drill we improved in our communication skills as a team. There were a couple times we lost the ball, the coach stopped us after five minutes asking why did you lose the ball.

Ash replied “Because we weren't talking to each other and using all the space we have as a team,” Coach made us try it again.

I passed the ball to Ash and then he passes it back and we kept this up for about 5 minutes without the defender getting. The coach pointed out the difference after we played and he congratulated me, making me happy.

I learned that without working as a team and communication we will never learn to keep the ball in our possession. we have to talk because if someone behind Ash trying to get the ball I can tell Ash to pass the ball and as a team, we will learn to work together.

Amadou Magassa I learn that my slide was not that good to see and did not highlight the most imported words. Because as i said i did not make it so that is the first thing they see. I know how to make highlights to the text and how to make the word stand out . Because that was the thing you told us to do .
