Week 3 - Day 2 - blog - negative/positive space - cut out[Indiya Johnson]
1)What is negative space?
Negative space is the space around the pieces of the photo to focus on the main points. The negative space is usually the background of the photo while positive is the main object. People commonly use it for optical illusions such as the cup with the two faces or the old lady and young lady.
2)Explain how you found negative space in your cut out?
I first started by cutting up each piece. After I did that I traced all those pieces onto my pink paper. Afterward, I then took all the lighter gray parts( the tree and the extra pieces of grass) and after I did that I cut out the pink side. Gluing all the extra pink pieces to the blue(the inside of tree designs and background) I was then finished.
3)Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?
It helps an artist to see negative space because it helps them focus on the main points of the object. Also afterward it becomes easier to draw in designs, etc. Giving them a different point of view than they had before.
4)Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?
Yes because you see it in a different way than before therefore you get a different meaning of the art piece. Making it come out better than it would have before.

Indiya Remix Slide
During the last past few weeks, I've learned how to make an okay slide. My first slide was a complete fail. I didn't like anything after I'd seen my classmates slides. Theirs had nice quote not too short or for long. I also got told that my picture looked "like a decapitated gymnast" and it was also pixelated. I then realized that my slide was not as great as I thought it was so then I had to decide to just re-do the inter thing.
I decide to change my whole slide because I wasn't feeling the vibes of the slide with the " decapitated gymnast". So I searched up dance on Pinterest, Google, etc. I finally found a picture that I liked. I then searched again on Pinterest, Google, etc. I had trouble picking between two quotes but the picture I'd use had to do with feet so I then choose the saying "Dance with your heart your feet will follow". I then made the words follow the sunsets curve because it looks ascetically pleasing.
The research that I did really did help me create this slide because I found that bleeding doesn't work for every picture. In my old slide, it looked like a "decapitated gymnast" Those weren't the vibes I was looking for so when I heard this I knew I had made the mistake of bleeding. I also found that the way the text is formed and follows the picture it looks really nice. I found out many things while doing this project and I hope that I will create better slides later on.
Indiya's slide
Today I’m going to be talking about how I made this one slide about me. My slides theme is dance because I have been dancing since the age of two and it’s been a big part of my life. Dancing has always been something that I loved and enjoyed doing. Which is why I choose my theme to be dancing(My me magazine was about dance).
Over the course of the few weeks, I’ve learned about how to make a somewhat good slide. With using many resources online such as presentation zen, youtube, and zachholman. I learned many things but I could only incorporate so many into my slide. The most important things that I came across and incorporated into my slide were huge text, contrasting colors, and fewer words. Another was to use as less space as possible and to bleed and basically bleeding is when you cut some of the picture out of the slide.
In the beginning, I thought about the image I’d be using because it needed to represent me in a way and catch people’s eyes. Then I thought about what I could say to which would match my picture. At this point, I stopped to think “Would this catch someone’s eye on a highway and be able to go straight back to driving?” I got a few opinions and they said it would catch your eye. At this point, I was almost finished my draft. I lastly enter my name into the slide and moved around my words. I put my slide on presentation and looked at it for like five minutes. I remembered that I should bleed which Mrs.Hull also told us about. Then I changed the color of my font and also the type of font because my white background and black font didn’t look very nice so I went for a brighter look and choose blue but neon blue because it’s one of my favorite colors. Lastly, I intended to use the rule of three’s but I don’t think I did it right. This is actually one of the things I would fix if I had more time because I think it could have been better.
