I don't like to take pictures of myself for reasons that make no sense. I love to take pictures with my family and cuddle with my cats though. Every once in a while I take random pictures of random things. My little neice Emalee is the best cure for a bad day. She makes all the problems just melt away when she smiles and that little face lights up. It just makes my day seeing her all happy even if she can be a little violent. My cat Murphy gives some of the warmest cuddles. He just loves to curl up on me and purr happily.

Selfies

Posted by Margaret Hohenstein in Storytelling - Rami - B on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 9:56 pm

I decided to take three similar selfies that represented different situations in my life. The first image is a picture of me while at school, the second at home and the third in the airport (a very public place where it is more or less acceptable to not look your best). I chose these place because they were very different but I find myself acting very similar in all of them. I often sit cross-legged because i find it comfortable as well as secure. I also chose not to include my face because I believe that body language shows just as much as facial expressions. I believe that by showing myself cross-legged I am saying that part of me is shy and wants to sit folded up and secure. However, by showing that this is how I sit all the time (even when alone in my room) I am saying that this is just a part of who I am but not all of who I am. The rest of who I am isn't shown in these images, it remains unsaid.

These three “selfies” do not represent every aspect of my life, I would would need many more to accomplish that feat, but they show three important parts of my life. The first picture represents my love of sleep. This does not mean I do it in access, in-fact, I do not get much at all, but it makes the sleep I do get all the more precious. The second shows my love for video games, the ultimate stress reliever. The third shows how much I enjoy hanging out with friends, which is something everyone should always do in access.

Selfies 4 Days

Posted by Alisha Clark in Storytelling - Rami - B on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 7:19 pm

I take selfies to remember the moment. The way I take selfies are usually from my shoulder and up, so not much of my body is shown. But, I love taking selfies because it captures who I am. It is a way of capturing me by the way I define myself instead of the way others define or look at me. I am able to capture myself  by taking selfies of myself while doing things that I love and feeling good. In a way it is a constant reminder and are pieces of reflection. Not every selfie is perfect, because I'm not. That's what makes me… me. Some selfies show happiness, sadness, tons of flaws and stress. I am able to look back and remember the day, time and place; but, I am also able to see a personal evolution. I can watch myself grow throughout selfies. Sometimes its little changes, such as: hair length, hair color or hair style. But, selfies also show features and my overall style. Those are the big changes that occur within my life and are things I would like to remember and be shared with the world. Selfies give a voice to the new age by just a click of a button.

Pictures can show many things, but they are frozen in a time. They capture a moment and nothing else. Some pictures show different things, but when you take a picture of your self what does it really show about you? You can only show one emotion in that second so which do you choose? My pictures show my quirky-ness but nothing else. Why dont selfie pictures show more about the person? Well different selfies can show many things. For ex, in my mid body selife you can tell that I like you dress nice, and I was at even having a great time. However looking at that picture you would never be able to tell that My feet were hurting, and that I was anxious to leave. Pictures show what you want them to show. If you want to show you have a great time then you make a face that shows your good time. So selfies are COOL in my opinion just because you can show off what you want, and hide everything else. Its not false advertisement, but its a confidence booster to take a great selfie and have other people look at it and approve, or say "they look nice"

What is unseen is everything? A picture may tell you 1000 words but it would take more than 1000 words to describe me. The reason I picked the first to pictures is because there is a demon and an angel inside of all of us and we choose which side we let show. Everyone has the capacity for great acts of good and great acts of evil, and I know this about myself, which lead to me choosing these to pictures. The third picture is of Batman a fantasy character who can get away with being capable of anything he wanted. I see myself that way because I have a very big imagination and can do whatever I want. There are no actual picture of me because I don't take selfies, period.

Selfies i believe shows the person emotions. Give people some idea of how their mood is during that day or at that moment. #Selfies is something that describes the person feelings at that moment also. Whether their mood is being happy, sad, hungry, and or just being bored. Each #selfies that is shown above just shows my mood of that day. The first photo describes me home doing my homework after i was done i just decided the take a selfie to say hi to the IG (instagram) world. The second photo describes me in the school bath room taking a photo with my new head band a friend made for me, so i wanted to show the world how it looked on me. And how they should buy it. The third photo just shows how i made it to Delaware, how happy i was, and how badly i’m about ready to get in the pool and i decided to strike a pose to tell the IG world to let them know what i’m about to do.

Selfie Assignment

Posted by Sean Force in Storytelling - Rami - B on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 8:12 am

I’m not someone who usually takes selfies, or at all really, like I have never done it before so I don’t know as though this really even counts, so I was just taking a stab at selfies when I was doing this assignment.  I did a lot of things that obscured my image like taking a reflection of myself in water and a reflection of myself in a glass pane in a cabinet in my hallway because I partially misunderstood the assignment and thought that these were supposed to kind of represent a story or something about the world, and partially because I don’t always present myself head-on necessarily I’m generally a shyer person so in the beginning I tend to be somewhat obscured and reflective of my surroundings.

Selfies

Posted by Ayoola Hooks-Gibbs in Storytelling - Rami - B on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 12:00 am

As of today I'm not a big fan of selfies, like I was last year. Most of the picture I posted were from last year, when I would take them all of the time. The things that make me want to take selfies is if I look nice. The first picture of myself with the purple lipstick, I decided to take a picture because I liked the look and and because of the good lighting. I feel as though today selfies are overrated. Most of the time I take selfies of myself, and sometimes with others. The one picture of myself and the other person, was when she visited from the UK. I took that selfies with her for memories. Although selfies are somewhat annoying and the name is always used, I think it's something that as you get older you can look and see what you loked like when you were younger. When I was looking for some older selfies, I saw how different I looked, and how put together I was last year as a junior because I cared a lot about the way I looked and the way I dressed.

Self Portrait

I think that selflies are important because they show people's self expression. I myself take selfies every chance I get to, especially on a good hair day. Selflies are indeed like self portraits because I get to be my own artist. I am the photographer and I get to be the model at the same time. I get to show people a side of me that they may not usually see in person, I think through selflies I show my true personality. With selflies the viewer looks at the meaning in the picture to see what kind of person you are, selflies can give others a look of how you are as a person even if they don't know you. #strongesteyebrowgameonthisTL
