This mural discovers the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the abolition of slavery by presenting an allegory of the way African-American culture has been woven into the fabric of American life and President Lincoln’s role in this process. Light and shadow playing against the characters in the scene hints not only at the historical struggle for civil rights, but also the way in which Abraham Lincoln has been molded into a figurehead for civil rights issues.

3. “Progression”, “People”, Equality”, “Charity for all”, “Malice towards none” are a few important words caught about this mural.

4. This mural shows the progress of equality in our nation over the years with slavery through the images of the different stages it took. YOu can spot the different backgrounds on all 3 levels, with the first one from the top being the most calming. The quote on the mural states, “WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE, WITH CHARITY FOR ALL”
