E2U4 - Mural y Essayo

Posted by Amelia Benamara in Spanish 2 · Hernandez · B Band on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 8:22 am

Gracias.,

A PEOPLE’S PROGRESSION TOWARD EQUALITY

  1. S 8th St & Ranstead St, Philadelphia, PA 19107

  2. This mural discovers the legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the abolition of slavery by presenting an allegory of the way African-American culture has been woven into the fabric of American life and President Lincoln’s role in this process. Light and shadow playing against the characters in the scene hints not only at the historical struggle for civil rights, but also the way in which Abraham Lincoln has been molded into a figurehead for civil rights issues.

  3. “Progression”, “People”, Equality”, “Charity for all”, “Malice towards none” are a few important words caught about this mural.

  4. This mural shows the progress of equality in our nation over the years with slavery through the images of the different stages it took. YOu can spot the different backgrounds on all 3 levels, with the first one from the top being the most calming. The quote on the mural states, “WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE, WITH CHARITY FOR ALL”

Internet Safety - Amelia Benamara

Posted by Amelia Benamara in Technology - Freshman - Hull - b2 on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 7:20 pm
What TV show did you watch in class?
These past Tech classes we spent the majority of the time watching "Growing Up Online" which is a program.

What was this show about?
The show is mainly about how kids in this generation take the network out of proportion. Teenagers in this series make mistakes online and come to talk about it. Parents share their feelings about their children and what should be happening instead.

What is the most memorable thing to you about this show?
The most memorable scene was when Evan Skinner's son took a trip to New York with many other students and made really bad decisions such as drinking and recording everything. Evan Skinner's ends up finding out and did what she thought was best. She sent an email to all of the other kids' parents informing them about the event that took place.

Why/Why not -  is it important to watch shows like these?
It is important to watch shows like this because it is just like the news, but it's more for a certain group of people. Parents need to stay updated and get advice on what to do to improve their kid's lives. Perhaps make some changes within the house holds regarding the internet.

How will you keep your future family safe online?
In the future, the problem with teenagers will probably get worse because of the more advanced technology, and a way I can keep my family safe would include having a strict policy with using the technology a certain way and on a certain time. Household rules are always the key! Also, I would talk to them and ask them about any problems and what is going in their lives right now, just to keep track and connect with my children.

Why is it important to talk with your family about internet safety?
It is important because without talking to everyone in the household, especially children, you will not get them to tell you any challenges or problems they are facing, which means you also will not be able to find any solutions and help them with a situation. Then, they will look for ways to "solve" their problems online and get stuck.

What advice would you give to parents that don't know how to keep their children safe online?
They should start talking to them about their daily life and what is going on in it. The more you are informed the more time they will spend to make things better and help their children before somethings ends up going wrong.

    Benamara - Online Identity

    1. Today in class we watched the "I Am A Witness" video about bullying and how to help prevent by clicking the eye.
    2. The video bring many things to my mind, for example, how bad people's feelings get hurt and how bullying can mostly be worse on the internet, especially when the bully is anonymous.
    3. When my name is searched online many school websites are found. Especially my middle school awards I have received for my science fair. So, online I am a student, which is correct.
    4. Based on who I am online, people probably see me as hardworking and scientific.
    5. The goal that internet trolls have are to bully someone online without getting caught. They are most likely to be anonymous, giving them more of a purpose to have fun and torture someone without being found. They mainly expose people and mess with their feelings for their own pleasure.
    6. A positive thing about anonymity is you do not know who they are which makes things less hurtful, in a way because, if you find out who this online bully is, your feelings will be crushed and you'll have a hard time actually believing that person would do such a thing. A negative thing about anonymity is it will be harder to report them because they have a hidden identity online.

    My Home Network, Benamara

Posted by Amelia Benamara in Technology - Freshman - Hull - b2 on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 1:22 pm
    Questions:

1.) My Local Area Network include my Dad's laptop, my own laptop, and my brother's laptop. All of our i-Phones are connected to the wifi at home also, this is a total of 5 i-phones. There are also, other devices connected such as 1 i-pad, 1 wireless printer, 1 TV, and my brother's Play Station 3.

2.) I learned a lot of things about the network we use all around us. Something that surprised me was how much money it costs per year! It goes up to 1,500 dollars. WOW! I never thought about it. Learning about the network more, also opened my eyes and got me to be thankful whenever something is sent or I get where I want to get on the network because it really is complicated and hard to get everything started.

3.) Something I would let others know when it comes to their home network is to be careful with what you do online. Be kind and watch what you go on when your connected to a certain internet, for example if you're on an inappropriate website because anything you go on is being recorded. Also, be thankful that your have a home network, in general because many do not and they don't have as many opportunities as you do with your ISP.
