For my capstone, I decided to research one of America’s greatest areas of concern, how so many people end up living a paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. I understood people could be poor(obviously), but what I didn’t realize was that half the population of America live anticipating their next paycheck. I talked about the effects of student loans as well as medical needs and how these two affect one’s possibility of living a paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. I created a youtube video talking about these two subjects and a workaround to the lifestyle, not a solution. I have also included my annotated bibliography below the video.

A Long Road Podcast

Group Members: Raven Tanpranadi, Kaleb Harris, Chris Jacobs, Tony Nelson, and Yasir Thomas

Our podcast episode was based on the book The Road by Cormac McCarthy in which we summarized and discussed the literary and figurative language used within the book. Whether it might be the weird mentioning of bridges that the characters never seem to cross or random burnt corpses scattered across the cold ashy barrens of this apocalyptic world. the episode is packed full of weirdly interesting events and more is to come.

Our logo is the storyline diagram shown below the video. Why have we chosen it you might ask? This generic sequence of events. It is because for half of the book the story has only incorporated the exposition, lacking any rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. We chose the image to spite the author.

Printmaking Blog Post & final steps for the element print

  • The name of my element is Carbon, its atomic number is 6.
  • Carbon was first found by Lavoisier in 1789. Carbon is produced everywhere around us, when combined with the element oxygen it produces carbon dioxide which we exhale out of us.
  • The image is a cycle of respiration in the world, all carbon dioxide exhaled or produced will eventually be turned into oxygen. It is a continuous cycle.
  • To make this final print, I first had to sketch the idea and research the element. Then I had to trace it into print paper which I then had to print onto foam to duplicate the images multiple times.
  • If I was given a second chance to redo this project, I would go for more detail in the drawing, carve deeper into the foam.
  • I enjoyed duplicating the final image onto paper, the peeling of the foam onto paper was very satisfying, to have an image you made be replicated was very nice.

After presenting my slide to the class or rather table, I received many critics to improve my original slide. I Learned to straighten out my images and use the negative spacing in my slide accordingly while not overcrowding the slide. I did learn that my text's font was quite boring and dull so I changed it to be more eye catching but yet not take all the attention from the center of the slide. I also learned to incorporate more of the slide designs into my slide. 
I made changes to my slide again because it was kind of dull and not eye catching. Now to fix this I had to start using some colors that would match the background but also match the other images. The rule of the thirds also helped my slide look more organized because the bitmoji resemble my social life so it took up 2/3 of the slide. I also made the text match the basketball so the upper half would be one color and the bottom half another color.
The research I did made my slide better because using a bleeding image instead of the entire image made it fit in. I did not need the entire image to be on the slide, it gets rid of unnecessary spaces it takes. It also taught me about texture and coloring. The rule of the thirds made my slide look more organized. I used bitmojis as one of my sources and presentation zen.

This slide basically represents everything I am. In the middle of the slide you can see a bitmoji that states the zodiac that I am. As an asian the zodiac does have an impact on my life, not directly influential but more like a role model. I’ve been told that people who are born in the Month of cancer are sentimental and care more for their family. I try to live up to these characteristics to make myself a better person. Off to the top right side of my slide you can see the image of a ball. This represents my dream of joining the NBA. Although I may not seem like the type of person who likes sport, i’ve taken a liking to this sport from a young age. I’ve learned about bleeding images, hence the image of the chopsticks. These chopsticks has sentimental value to me as the last gift I had received from my deceased grandpa was a 50 year old pass down chopstick. It may not seem like much to anyone else but it does to me. The negative spacing in my slide was planned according to the value of each image. The greater the spacing from one image to another, the more value it holds to me.

​A).I have a computer, 2 smart tvs, a wii, 5phones a tablet and a printer connected to the wifi either wired or wireless.
B). I learned that anything posted on the internet never gets deleted. It is saved somewhere in the world in a data base. I've also learned about how in depth those wifi terms of agreements mean. How they prohibit certain websites and allow superiors to supervise someones internet browsing.
C). People would need to know that wifi goes downwards so if you place your router at the highest point of the house, you get better signal. They would also need to know that there is a cable that enters your house that connects to your router, in my case an ethernet cable.
