Reflection- Element Project

Posted by Sean Morris in Art - Freshman - Hull on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 8:29 pm

Inquiry -  This project reflected inquiry because we needed to ask ourselves how we would do each step. For example when we used the cutting tools we needed to ask ourselves questions like: "how will I cut out the finer details of my drawing" and etcetera.

Research - The project reflected research when we needed to find out what our mineral is used for. So in order to find out what would be an acceptable design we needed to research online what it has been used for.

Collaboration - The project reflected collaboration because often times I collaborated with fellow students and my teacher for my concepts. For example I went to a supervisor student to collaborate ideas about what to have for my final concept.

Presentation - It reflected presentation because we often tried to smoothen out final details to make the final product look nicer. For example when I was cutting into my design I often had to work out the final details to get the design I was looking for.

Reflection- The project reflected reflection because it allowed us to compare some of our previous looks to others and see which one worked the best. An example of this is how we did more than one print so if one we did didn't turn out just like how we wanted we could know what to change for the next one.

Reflection

Posted by Hikma Salhe in Art - Freshman - Hull on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 12:38 pm

Write two sentences for each core value and how the element project is reflected in the words.

Inquiry- I had many questions as to what my element was. Also, this was new to me, as I have never even heard of this element.

Research - To print this element I had to do research as to how it is used in day to day lives. I read many articles and looked up many websites and saw how it affects us.

Collaboration - I collaborated with my science teacher and found out more information on Tellurium (my element). I also talked to students outside of my classroom and asked them for help.

Presentation - I drew 3 copies of this print before it was finalized. Another thing is the colors that were used in this print of my element.

Reflection- I can honestly say that I learned many things about this element in my time of research. I know that I won't forget it quickly.

Element Print

Posted by Kara Rosenberg in Art - Freshman - Hull on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 12:38 pm

The element project reflects each core value:
Inquiry: Right from the start of the project, I was questioning what my element's roots were. Inquiry and research tie together, because after questioning the history of my element, it pushed me to research it as well.
Research: We were all assigned a random element, which most of us didn't know much about. The print had to be of something creative that reflects the element, so it was required that we research the element before we started our design.
Collaboration: When trying to decide which design to use, it was really helpful to turn to my peers for their opinions. They were a huge help with carving too, especially when i had an injury and they helped me.
Presentation: One of the most important parts of this project is how it looks, so the presentation should be neat.
Reflection: Well, this one is pretty self explanatory, for every project we're required to do a reflection of it. This project required us to reflect on our core values.

Negative space reflection

Posted by Ameer Forte in Art - Freshman - Hull on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 7:06 am

What is negative space?

Negative space is a picture in black and white showing difference in the lights vs. darks

Explain how you found negative space in

1. your cut out?, 2. in your still life drawing?

I found it through the different colors in my cut out, I found it in the realness of the still life.

Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

Because it gives you two views to art.

Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?

Yes sometimes.

Negative Space Reflection

Negative Space is when you draw the outline of an object on one side and the other side is colored in.
I found the  negative space by looking in the empty space between the objects. Then I shaded it in.

I think it is important for artist to use negative space so they can see the whole object.

Negative space enhances pictures so you can see the outlines of the object. And so you can identify where what object begins and ends.

Negative Space Reflection

What is Negative Space
Negative space is the space around or in between the object you are drawing. Negative space has no detail.

My Negative Space
In my drawing I found the negative space by looking at the spaces in between the object. One example is the chairs stacked on top of each other. I tried to shade in everything but the actual chair, such as the space between the bars. In my cutout, everything that I cut out was negative space.

Artists' Negative Space
I think that it is important for artists' to use negative space. Then, they can look at the whole shape and not just the figure.

Negative Space Enhances
I think that negative space enhances pictures because you are not only drawing the figures you are drawing everything around it too.

 What is negative space?
- It is the space or environment around the object or image your drawing.

Explain how you found negative space in 1. your cut out?, 2. in your still life drawing?
- By looking at the images in a different perspective and looking at them as bubbles and then shaded around them.

Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?

It helps them find certain details of an object that one does notice at first.

Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?
- It can in a way enhance drawing because it makes you look at them at a perspective. Also the outlines and shading will be more noticeable.

Negative Space Reflection

Negative space is the when the space around an object that is shaded to show the outline of an object.

I found negative space in my cut out by having the outline one color so it outlines the bird on both sides out the picture.

I found negative space in my still life drawing my shading around the area of the object until I started to see the object in real life.

It helps an artist to see negative space because it easier to not think about the details of an object. Also it helps them draw what they see.

Seeing negative space does enhance drawings by making you see the surrounding space of object and still see the object itself.

Negative Space Reflection

Negative Space is the space around and between an image. It's used to be presentable in 3D.
I found negative space in my cut out when it was all put together & I could see the image come out at me. I was able to understand the story that the image was trying to to me through negative spacing. In my still life drawing, I found negative space after i shaded around and inside the spaces of the image.
It helps an artist too see in negative space because it helps identify the real subject in the image.
Seeing in negative space enhances drawling because you can easily tell the main subject of the image.
