Quarter 3 Art Slideshow

Posted by Melissa Alvarez in Art Advanced - Hull - a2 on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 8:40 pm

During the third quarter, I would say that we definitely focused a lot more on value of color. In our first assignment with india ink, I had to practice my hand at something with such a heavy color consistency, and control where my darks and lights ended up. It took a lot of patience (and water). Then in our assignments involving shapes, I practiced how to form multiple drawings with just your basic shapes (rectangles, circles, ovals, triangles, thick and dark lining). Anything can start with just simple shapes and lines. I practiced lightening my hand which can often be heavy in my drawings. This quarter I got a lot better at successfully defining which color values belong where in my artwork.

Collins Quarter 3

The art I did this quarter is a good representation of my artist style. I have been doing a lot of photography and taking photos of the people around me that I am interested in. I did a lot of drawing with charcoal and that was a whole lot of fun because I think it is a great medium. I have become more focused in the last few weeks especially. I am more focused when drawing and it is very enjoyable for me. I hope you like it.

this quarter in art I stepped out of comfort zone and played with shapes, shading and other components. i was able to produce work that I am proud of, I was able to familiarize myself with different lines and patterns. I feel as though this quarter in art while I was not always present in class i was able to learn a lot.

Bailey Britton Q3 Art Portfolio

This quarter I explored mostly basic shapes. The hardest piece of art work for me to create was the self portrait because I've always had trouble drawing people's faces. We focused on basic shapes for the last three assignments and I thought it was going to be harder than it actually was. I really liked this quarter of art because we didn't have to do too much detail and we could just focus on making it the best artwork that we could.

Lisa Kang Q3- Advanced Art

This quarter, I explored different kinds of artwork; from india ink, abstract art to basic shapes. Most of the artwork this quarter was focussed on the process of drawing rather than trying to create a super detailed or intricate drawing. These art works were the value, basic shapes and animal shapes. The pieces that I enjoyed the most was the abstract drawing and india ink because they're really different from the other pieces. The abstract drawing did not even feel like I was doing a lot of work because I find myself drawing random things all the time and I was able to do that but create something more meaningful. I did not really have a theme this quarter in my work but I learned a lot and I can feel my art skills improving.

Donesha Lee Q3 Artwork Portfolio

Artist Statement

During this quarter I have made 6 pieces of art I could not be more proud of. I was able to experiment my skills with "Indian Ink", draw a beautiful owl, and create eye popping illusions. It has been a very interesting quarter. I have created everything "free hand", which is a huge accomplishment. I was even given the chance to play with shadowing techniques. It was truly an eye opening experience this quarter.  Throughout this quarter I was able to express myself using many more mediums. It could very challenging, however, the finishing products came out very well. However, I would say that as an artist in "A" band's class I still represented myself through my artwork. Every artist has their own style, and I think I've improved my skill set during this quarter.

Lauren Thomas Q3 Art

The reason I create art is to express myself. Even though the art may not be something amazing or profound, it is something I am proud of and happy that I created. When I look at my art, I see myself being reflected. This quarter I fell in love with painting my self portrait. I enjoyed using a new media (India Ink) and it was super fun to use and paint with. I wanted to paint more self portraits because I enjoyed making my first one so much. I create what I love and I have to be happy with what I create. I feel that my self portrait is the best thing I created this quarter; it shows a complex image in a simplistic way with an artistic attitude and a new media.

Art Portfolio Quarter 3

Posted by Jacklyn Middleswarth in Art Advanced - Hull - a2 on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:34 am

Within this quarter of doing Art two times a week, I focused more the shapes of life. Meaning that all objects have a three dimensional shape to them and I tried to show through evolution how something could look two dimensional can be changed to look three dimensional. To show this I used a lot of black and white with radiation to show all the individual shapes. At the end I was able to produce pieces of work with three dimension and have the objects look real, not still.

Art Portfolio Q3

This quarter I focused more on things I like, especially with drawing animals. The first project with abstract was more of a work that I research about. Self portrait was challenging because I do not usually draw people or their faces. Value assignment was fun because I used to do assignments like this before in middle school. Basic shapes and animal shapes helped me in general for drawing because I did not think of drawing shapes before I sketch what I wanted to work on. I wanted to focus more on things I am not good at and having these assignments helped a lot to challenge my art skills.
