On today’s podcast, we explored author’s intent in “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel. We discussed the meaning behind the tiger, Martel’s ability to imitate a religious character, and the religious insight we gained from the book. Welcome to our last and final special debate-styled podcast hosted by Owen, Tommy, Leo, and Sam.
throughout this quarter I’ve used my notebook. it has helped me through many projects and discussions and I will rely on it in the future

My benchmark was about a random drawing i created. During the creation, i realized my drawing can have a meaning behind it. So, i made a meaning to it. You can view my benchmark at [Amins Q2 benchmark] (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zmSa5CK_SgCxh3hkJuOsgDNMC6ub4n76Yvm213ZECLA/edit?usp=sharing).
My Q2 benchmark shape that I’ve chosen to do was a christmas tree due to the timing of this project. In my project, it shows the christmas tree in many forms plus the explanation of the many different types of lines used in my shape. Hope you enjoy it!

this is my group project. we were assigned to make a portrait out of straight lines and we did a dog.
This is my algebra project. For this project I created a design that was graphed with slope and y intercept.

On Desmos, Me and Naheem created a flag design that we’ve thought of. We used Slope, and different type of lines
I worked with Kade to create a design of a heart in a box. We created this using different types of lines and by calculating the slopes of these lines. Q2 Benchmark
For this Benchmark we needed to make a design out of lines on a coordinate plain. My design is up for interpretation but I see it as a big star and a little star. This is one of the more creative projects we have had to do this year.

My project is a design on a graph made by points and equations. Our shape is multiple diamonds on top of each other. We used slope to find each point on the graph.

I made my project by placing lines down on my coordinate plane. we had to solve for the lines using slope intercept and point slope to get the equation for them.
For this benchmark my partner and I created and graphed a design. We applied all of our in class concepts to this project.

During this quarter, my notebook has helped me look back and use the tools that we’ve been discussing in class. I also used my notebook to write down any important information about a topic that we were learning. My notebook helped me share many opinions and thoughts about class lessons, especially towards our previous novel.
Join Nick, Michael, Sam, and Samson, the Slaughterhouse 4 for our third and final podcast. This time discussing Author’s intent.

This is my quarter 2 notebook project. This shows you how I have used my notebook throughout this quarter. My notebook allows me to put my thoughts down from discussions or the book. I think that I can still improve in using my notebook by using it more often during class discussions and to be able to know when I should use my notebook even if I’m not being told to use it.
This is my Q2 Notebook. With my note book this quarter I utilized more of my notes in the book. I used my book to write things down and then come back to them. This was good for me because I have problems with remembering information. Other things like discussions were good for us because it made us think more. It made us have our own and different Ideas and we were all able to talk without disrespecting others perspectives. I also did more notetaking.

Q2 Notebook My notebook has helped me during quarter 2 because it allows me to look back on previous lesson notes when I need them. I will continue to keep my notes organized moving forward.

The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
Corbyn, Jeremy, et al. “Jeremy Corbyn: Brazil’s Insurrection Plotters Are Trying to Destroy Democracy.” Jacobin, 1 Sep. 2023, jacobin.com/2023/01/jeremy-corbyn-brazil-insurrection-attempt-bolsonaro-lula-democracy.
This source provides information of a current event both similar to America’s January 6th incident in 2021 and Brazil’s January 8th of 1973. Both these events mark a dark time in history where a powerful politician convinced his supporters to question democracy and wreak havoc on the government. The current event that connects the two is the more recent insurrection attempt in Brazil, instigated by Jair Bolsonaro. In the White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, democracy is nothing but a tactic. In the novel, fingerprints are bought off from citizens by police and used to vote for the Great Socialist while in Brazil, Bolsonaro’s support from the police allowed so many citizens to walk right into Congress, the supreme court and presidential palace. Both the Great Socialist and Bolsonaro look at democracy as something to manipulate for their own gains and, identically enough, both have full support of police and great power to continue to openly do so.
This quarter, my notebook has helped me stay organized and make sure my thoughts stay all together. In the future, for quarters three and four I plan to use it to practice my taking notes not copying notes. Even though we continue to practice it, I still find it difficult so I plan to use this notebook to max out my skills.

Welcome to All booked as Damola, Cole, and Giann tackle their newest series Things falls apart written by Chinua Achebe. This is part three of the discussion of the book.
My notebook was a helpful tool over the course of the 2nd quarter because I really focused on what quality over quantity meant. I took notes of what I thought would be useful to me in the future rather than putting everything in my notebook. In the future, I plan on continuing to use this method because I have found that it works well for me.
