So I'm going to show you how to count to hundred.

cinco 5

diez 10

veinte 20

setenta 70

Now that you know how to count to a hundred.

A thing to remember is when you say veinte, you must replace the last e with a i.

Here's an example: if you want to say 4:25 you simply say Son las cuarto y veinticinco.

When you want to say things like :35 you just put trientacinco. Same thing goes for all everything over veinte.

There's one exception though when you want to say it's 1 o'clock you must say Es la una. Not Son las uno if you say it that way you're pronounocing it wrong.

…y cuarto

Lesson One, Courtesy Phrases (April, Sarah-Charlotte, Vannary)

·      There are a few rules about speaking Spanish properly that one should learn when trying to speak Spanish. Basically they are as follows:

o   When speaking to an elder or someone of importance, you would have to use the formal way of speaking, using Usted (abbreviated Ud.)

§  (example) To ask an elder where he/she is from, say “¿ De donde es?”/”¿ De donde es Usted?

o   When speaking to someone you are close to, or someone younger than you, you would generally use the informal way of speaking, using tu.

§  (example) to ask your friend of little brother where they are from, you would ask, “¿De donde eres?”/ ”¿De donde eres tu?

·      Polite Phrases to use

§     (muchas)(mil) Gracias

§     Thanks (a lot) (a million)

§     De nada./ Por nada./ No hay de que.

§     Your Welcome

§     ¿Como?

§     What did you say?

These phrases are used in every day life in all languages.

·      Using “Excuse me.”

o   In the Spanish language, there are three different phreases to replace “excuse me” in English. The three phases are:

     “Perdon.”-when you bump into someone.

“Disculpe.”- when you want to get someone’s attention.

“Con Permisso.” –when you need someone to move out of your way.

What's the weather

Have you ever wondered how to ask the weather in Spanish well I'll teach you.

First one we'll learn is sol, sol mean that it sunny outside. Bastante is like very ,so bastante sol means very sunny. Here is some other weather words add bastante for emphasis.

Frio=cold
lloviendo=rainy
calor=hot
nevando=it's snowing
If you want to say"what is the weather in Spanish say ¿Que tiempo hace en el verano?

Lesson two, los numeros y numeros de telefono (April, Sarah-Charlotte, Vannary)

The first nine numbers in Spanish are spoken as follows:

1) Uno

2) Dos

3) Tres

4) Cuatro

5) Cinco

6) Seis

7) Siete

8) Ocho

9) Nueve

The number 10 in Spanish is pronounced, diez.

The first five numbers after that (from 11 to 15) are pronounced differently from the digit in it’s tens place. They are:

11. Once

12. Doce

13. Trece

14. Catorce

15. Quince

the numbers 16 to 19 all use the word for the tens place, such as deici seis, dieci siete, and so on.

The number 20 is pronounced, “veinte” in Spanish to say 21 through 29, use the word for 20 just as you did for ten in numbers 16 to 19. However, instead of using “veinte,” swap out the E for an I and use “veinti.”

(examples) veintiuno, veintidos, veintitres.

The number 30 is pronounced, “treinta.” For the thirties through the ninties, to add ones place digits, all you do is say the number “and” the ones place.

(examples) treinta y uno, treinta y dos, treinta y tres.

The next places follow the rules described for thirty.

Cuarenta     o Forty

Cincuenta   o Fifty

Sesenta       o Sixty

Setenta        o Seventy

Ochenta      o Eighty

Noventa      o Ninety

Practice this by saying the following numbers in Spanish:

  o Eighty-five

  o Twenty-four

  o Fifty-eight

  o Ninty-nine

 The 100’s

o To say 100 you say “cien.” To put tens and ones places after it, replace “cein” with “ciento” and then say the rest of the number.

    • (Example) 123 would be pronounced “ceinto veintitres.”

o All other numbers in the 100’s place follow the same rule as 100.

Doscien(tos)      200 (and)

Trescien(to)       300 (and)

Cuatrocien(tos)  400 (and)

Quinien(tos)      500 (and)

Sesien(tos)        600 (and)

Setecien(tos)     700 (and)

Ochocien(tos)   800 (and)

Novecien(tos)   900 (and)

Finally, the pronounciation of 1000 is “mil.”

To ask for someone’s telephone number, you can use either “¿Cual es tu numero de telefono?” or “¿Cual es su numero de telefono?” That translates to whats your phone number.

To tell your phone numberto someone, just say the seiries of numbers as you would in English.

How To Greet Someone In Espaol

Below is how you would ask someone "How Are You" in Spanish. It's not hard to learn Greetings in Spanish, and it comes out to be very fun. For example, say if you want to ask your Spanish friend how are you in Español. This will show you, how to ask it, and how to respond back after they answer the question.

                                  Asking Someone How Are They
¿Cómo Estás (y tú)?                       Informal

How are you? (And You?)
¿Cómo está (y Udsted)?                  Formal
¿Qué tal?                            Informal/formal

In Spanish, and English, it’s only right to ask the person, “and you”. But in Spanish you can see that there is an “informal” way to say, “how are you?” and a formal way to say it too. For a friend or a family member, you would you use “Y tú”. Though when you are on a business trip, and you know a little Spanish, to show respect, you would use “Y Usted” to greet the person your meeting with. Or on the other hand you could always use “Qué Tal” if you are more comfortable with that saying then the other two.

                    Responding Back

If you are asked one of these Spanish Questions, you should be able to response back to the person speaking. The table below will show you how to response back to “Qué Tal, Cómo Estás, or Cómo Está.

                                                    Reponding To ”¿ Qué Tal?”
(Muy) Bein, gracias.
(Very) Good, Thank you.
Más o menos. = Regular
Okay

(Muy) Mal. = Terrible
(Very) Bad
Estoy….
… Enfermo/a.
…Cansado/a.
…Tranquilo/a.
…Contento/a.
I’m….
…Sick
…Tired
…. Chill
…. Happy

After you have told the person how you feel, you always end with “Gracias”. It’s common curtsy to end with a thank you in Spanish. Below the video will show you how to pronounce "how are you?" in español. This is how you would greet a friend.

Art: Statement

The problem that we as a whole planet are having is bottle caps not being destroyed properly. So they get into the ocean where fish eat them and then what ever eats the fish also gets the plastic. Then that plastic gets into us so we’re kind of half plastic.

The art that I’m making out of these bottle caps is a castle. It will be a play set for my nephew.  I figured that since we cant get rid of the plastic for years on end I would do something with it. So I figured a kid plays with toys none stop so why not turn them into toys for now. That way they can be used for something that is useful. Not just through away and eaten by some sort of animal, which then we eat.

All I had to do was get a lay out for the bottle caps. So what I did first was make sketches. By doing that I figured out how I wanted to do my landscape for the castle first. Then I took a piece of cardboard and laid it down and drawled where I was going to place the caps.

Now I haven’t completely finished it yet but it’s a work in progress. I should have it fully done by Christmas. So it would make for a very nice Christmas present.

In perfect time, it’s also a good present because it help the earth and him.

Bottle Cap Poster

I created a poster to inform the student at SLA that we (room 301) is collecting bottle caps for an artist and also for the use of our first quarter project based on recycling. Bottle cap can not be recycle, so most of them end up in the water streams or in birds. I enjoyed informing the student using a picture and if I were to redo my poster i would have done it more neatly and took more time to make it look more prefect and more of a senior art class project.
