Reflections In all honesty, this was one of the worst projects I have ever done. There are many excuses as of why? Maybe it was the idea of the me not being motivated to do work or plain and simple I'm ready to graduate. It could simply be that I can accept getting a C this quarter and having a B overall. The challenging part was actually completing the project. With aspirations of getting anything above a zero, I think I hardly can say I accomplished that goal. I only did 3/10 for pictures and my facts are no where near as strong as I would like them to be. I dont really have a favorite part because me not putting any effort forth in completing this project. My favorite image was getting the religion and showing which cultures come at different times. This was pretty unique and something I felt was interested. I could say may evidence does help to lean my opinion in either way because I did not find enough research to have a valid opinon on this topic.
The life of myself and a child from Panama are very different. Those children are faced with many dangers. They are in a society held back by the amount of money the family earns. They are faced with dealing with the threat of catching diseases. They are required to have certain school supplies are they will not be allowed to come to school. There literacy rate is quite high for what I expected. There diet of seafood, chicken, and corn is much healthier than what I eat. By the age of 40 most will be dead or be very ill. The health care system there is not very strong. The one thing that will always persist in there lives will be the lack of a strong education fundation and lack of a healthcare system to prevent such deadly diseases from killing children. It just makes me feel bad that so many americans have such great healthcare systems but take advantage of it by killing themselves with such bad products sold by consumers in this country.
The 2 countries I focused on were Saudi Arabia and Papua New Guinea. There was an explanation for why they were chosen but for nothing a want to learn about to different countries. The process consisted of researching both countries. The research didn't take long but was pretty tedious. The hardest part of project was picking a design. At first, I wanted to do an Imovie but it was starting to take to long. Then I tried a website but then again it became too difficult. Finally I decided to do a google slideshow. The 5 point frame work was kind of easy. The hardest part was just reflecting on what each factor actually meant. The hardest one was climate change. It was very hard to find information about hostile neighbors. A solution could have been being more thorough with my research. If I could change one thing I would of tried to put more effort into my project. Eventually I was attacked by a force called senior slacking. Eventually my mindset became just get the project done hopefully get a C and pass for the quarter. If I had the fortitude to try to achieve make the project better it would have been a much better project.
Well there is a simple answer to this question, but my fellow classmate David Buckholtz said it best, "Evolution. Duhh!" Monkeys and humans go hand and hand. At least it does to Darwin and the people who agree with his theory. But if they are so closely related where is the tail??? Monkeys throughout history have always had a tail. It has become very handy to survive in their environment. And come on, who wouldn't want a tail?
(This picture was provided by University of Maryland) So, this brings up the question why do humans or homosapeins not have a tail? Was it the work of the dreaded evolution? Or was it another source. I was given a very good clue about the answer to this question from a good source. "Well it's not like humans never had tails didn't they have umbilical cords?" said Mr. Best, one of the many science teachers at Science Leadership Academy.
The umbilical is a vital part of human life. It has three very distinct functions. According to ehow,"The umbilical cord has three functions for the developing fetus: it supplies oxygen, it delivers nutrients, and it helps to withdraw blood rich in carbon dioxide and depleted in nutrients." The nutrients come from the mother. So, once the umbilical cord fall off where do the nutrients come from???
(This picture was provided by google images, if you can not see the picture, just click on the link please and thank you.)
Well the everybody needs a certain nutrients to grow, so many people get them from outside sources such as McDonald's or even from a neighborhood drug store. But is this a good enough reason for us not to have tails? So, since monkeys can't go to Mcdonalds they need their tails. But wait a monekys' tail does not work in the same action as an umbilical. So the question still hangs. If monkeys get a tail, why do humans not?
So, after concluding information a new question came to mind did man evolve from monkeys or apes? Obviously from looking at this diagram man evolved from an ape. Apes never had tails. So, it would make since neither would man. So, the question has been answered. But on the positive we have learned much about umbilical cords. So, in theory man and ape have had tails. But some may say it was just an umbilical cord.
