For my project, I decided to gather a group of youth and teach them 4 different styles of dance. The age of the group was ranged from ages 6 to 17. After teaching them the 4 styles of dance I put together a dance showcase for them.  Every Tuesday for about 10 weeks I hosted dance practices at a local recreation center in my neighborhood. The practices were for about 1 hour and a half.

During the practices, I taught choreography, reviewed old choreography, and assigned dance spots. Some weeks were harder than others when everyone did not come to practices or when people were constantly late. While teaching choreography I was still working with my mentor to put together songs, and to become a better dance teacher.

The final product was a strong turnout. I hosted a “Youth Matters Spring Dance Showcase” at the Venice Island Performance Theatre from 6-8pm. We had a nice audience who was supportive, all of the students remembered their dances, and everyone performed well. The hardest thing would probably be teaching children younger than me because you have to have a lot of patience. Younger students sometimes don’t focus as much or sometimes they forget the moves however I was patient with the little ones and they worked hard.

I learned how to have patience when teaching in general because you have to understand everyone doesn’t catch on as fast as others. I learned how to be a better choreographer by breaking down dance moves step by step and showing examples of what I was looking for.

Using this website I was able to get some tips on teaching dance. I have been dancing for a long time, however, I never taught people on my own before so all tips are useful. The tips provided in this link are from David Howard. David Howard is a professional English ballet dancer. David also taught at 2 dance companies in New York. I used his tips in my teaching. For example one of his tips is to watch other people teach so anytime my dance teacher is teaching I take mental notes on her techniques. All 15 of his tips made me a better choreographer.

Irvine, Sarah . “Resource Paper: Dance Fitness.” Resource Paper: Dance Fitness - International Association for Dance Medicine & Science, 2011, www.iadms.org/?303.

Using this website I was able to look at dance from a different perspective. I normally only think of dance as something fun and something to keep people busy. However, dance can be looked at as physical fitness. People who don't workout much can turn to dancing to lose weight or to stay physically fit. When I noticed that dance can be used as physical fitness I was able to get more people to participate in my dance sessions. This helped me figure out what different styles I wanted to teach. I was also able to learn from this source what different types of fitness I use in teaching my students.

“8 Amazing Hip Hop Dance Choreographers.” URBANTABLOID.COM, 20 Nov. 2014, www.urbantabloid.com/8-amazing-hip-hop-dance-choreographers/.

This website presented me with eight hip-hop dance choreographers. When teaching people a style of dance you will always need multiple different sources and people to look at. Every dance choreographer may have a different dance style or way of organization but they will always help a less experienced teacher figure out how to be a teacher. I did not hear of all the choreographers on this website and it was more interesting for me to read about them and learn about their style. It allowed me a chance to look at hip-hop from different perspectives and I was able to take at least one tip or opinion from each choreographer.

Jimison, Robert. “5 reasons why dancing is good for your health.” CNN, Cable News Network, 19 Oct. 2017, www.cnn.com/2017/06/08/health/health-benefits-of-dancing/index.html.

This website was a strong source. I argue that this was a strong source because it was persuasive and made some good comments about dance and fitness tying together. When people think of dance they don't think of fitness but it's true that dance is another way to lose weight or stay in the right weight range. I used this source to inform my students on how them dancing in my dance sessions helped them stay fit and how it helped benefit their young bodies. The website actually inspired me to combine fitness and dance more. I also created fitness packets for my students using this information.

“A Guide To Choreographing A Dance.” YouTube, 19 Jan. 2012, youtu.be/6HLQiwvbKno.

Using this video I was taught step by step ways to choreograph a dance. The tips were very helpful and useful. It helped me to create a stronger foundation for my teaching, it helped me brainstorm new ideas and showed me how to be a better listener. Teaching dance comes with more than just you talking and sometimes it's good to listen to people's thoughts and opinions on choreography. Someone else might have a good idea or twist on how to make the dance better so you should be open to others thoughts sometimes. One thing I also took from the video was using creativity. Creativity is important in all choreography because you always want to be original.

“How to Dance to Hip-Hop Music | Beginner Dancing.” YouTube, 2 July 2013, youtu.be/Qx3TkFFQayI.

Using this video I was able to hear some tips from both dance fitness experts and professional dancers. I think hearing things from both helped me better understand how both of these topics connect and helped me expand my knowledge within this field. The video did not tell me tips for teaching instead it was just teachers teaching beginners how to dance to hip-hop and how to develop skills. However it was still helpful because even if the source enplaning how to teach you can learn from seeing others teach to other people. One thing I took from this video was to be very descriptive when teaching someone because you want to be sure that they understand everything you are trying to say or teach.

“Hip Hop Teacher information for the complete beginner.” DanceClass.com, www.danceclass.com/hip-hop-teacher.html.

This website was helpful because it was directed to hip hop teachers in specific. Other websites and videos I looked at was dance in general, however, this was a more specific source. Things that stuck out to me within this article was positive reinforcement and energy. These two things stuck out to me the most because I have heard this from my pass dance teachers multiple times. I will use positive reinforcement to make sure my students are redirected positively and are able to understand what should be happening instead. I will use energy by always keeping energy positive if energy is positive anything is possible and everyone is all aboard to try new things.

Warta, Tamara. “Hip Hop Dance Choreographers.” LoveToKnow, LoveToKnow Corp, dance.lovetoknow.com/Hip_Hop_Dance_Choreographers.

This website was helpful for me because it gave me some information on multiple dance choreographers who are often brought up. Each of these choreographers was from different parts of the world and were of different racial backgrounds. The website also includes popular dance moves that I am familiar with. This source helped me choose some unique dance moves, and some different techniques I could incorporate into my dance pieces. One choreographer who stood out to me the most was Charles Klapow. I am familiar with a lot of his work and I know he is a very original creative dance choreographer.

“How to Teach Hip Hop Dance to Kids : Hip Hop Dance Choreography Demo for Kids.” YouTube, 1 Oct. 2008, youtu.be/qKL1ppbBDm4.

Using this video I was able to learn a lot of helpful tips. Even though the dance teacher did not state actual points I will able to pick up on some of her teaching tools. One tool she used was using eight counts out loud. It's important to count out loud so that the students can hear and know which step goes on what count. When teaching choreography you use counts to keep everyone on the same page throughout each dance. That's why when I taught different dances to my students I used eight counts and even when the music was turned on I still counted out loud until the students could dance without the count.

Rajakumar, Mohanalakshmi. Hip hop dance. Greenwood, 2012.

Using this book I was able to get some key points about hip-hop which were very useful. Before you teach something you should always know the history behind it. This book talks about hip-hop before the time I was born allowing me to learn information on the topic. One thing from the text that will stick with me is that self-expression, earning respect, and originality were key elements of hip-hop culture."This quote will stick with me because it helped me realize that I have to be both creative and show expression within my choreography considering hip-hop dance genre is so symbolic.

Artist Statement

During this quarter I worked on my capstone a lot in this class however I was able to learn a lot of new techniques. I learned to master working with watercolor, I learned how to be more creative and unique by creating an abstract piece. All the work I created was something outside of my comfort zone. I wanted to try something new for once and challenge myself even more than last quarter. This quarter what I took from art was time management and of course hard work these two things kept me focused all quarter. You need good time management because that's the only way you can meet deadlines. All my studio time was properly spent and invested all of my projects met there deadlines. You have to invest in good work in order to get a good outcome if you don’t work hard your final product won’t be as strong as it could've been. My goal for quarter four is to end strong and reflect properly. I would like to take all corrections from my three previous quarters and use it in my future. Even if you don’t take art in the future you can still use the skills, and techniques taught from the course. I want people to take my motivation and dedication from my artwork because everything I submitted I took time and hard work to complete them.

Quarter 2 Art Slideshow

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in Senior Art · Hull · A Band on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:13 pm

As I walked into quarter two I was more aware of the expectations of the class and I was able to excel my projects better this quarter. Throughout the time consuming projects we received I did struggle to work with some things however I was able to work through things each time and each  struggle made things easier for my next project. I learned how to have better time management and how to have more respect for my own artwork.

I have learned how to master time management by finishing all my projects on time and still being able to work on other homework assignments or class assignments I was behind in. If you don't have good time management you won't be successful in a independent class like art because you'll never be aware of how to use valuable in class time. I have also mastered to be very patient. Before I would get angry because some classmates finished before me but I noticed that good hard work takes time and I should be mindful of it.

I learned new color pencil techniques and shading techniques through this quarter as well. I enjoyed learning new techniques because it challenged me more to finish my projects. Even when I wanted to give up I didn't and I remained finishing strong.

Quarter One Art Project

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in Senior Art · Hull · A Band on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:58 pm

Throughout this first quarter of senior year I have worked on four time consuming projects. I have painted a ceiling tile, designed a fall wall hanging, created a self portrait of myself, and I have designed a fruit/vegetable watercolor painting. I have struggled but still was able to accomplish each project each time learning new tactics.

I have learned how to go further with my art. Detail is important and it’s an essential in most art pieces. With detail I have gone further by adding shadows, lighting and different textures on each of my artwork pieces. At first I was struggling to do these things but with a little help and some extra practice I was able to pick up on the skill and be successful with it.

I also learned how important “patience” is. Patience is so important because you need a lot of it when you are completing any art work. You need patience because everything takes time and if you don’t take your time you will never have a good final product. Once I learned the key to patience my artwork began to look much better.

During our pieces I used color pencils, water color, water color paper, and paint. All of these materials were used when creating my projects. Each project I used different materials some that I worked with before others new. I had fun with new materials because it is new and I like trying new things sometimes.

My favorite artwork piece would have to be my self portrait. At first I didn’t like this project but as I sat and thought about it I have began to like it more and more. I like the project because it took me the most time and I helped me with discipline. When you take your time it makes the artwork look even better and it shows discipline because it shows that you had the focus and patience to complete the project. If I were to do this project again I would probably add even more lights and darks than I already used. I would also find a picture of myself involving more detail then the picture i had used.

Advanced Essay #4, Randle (Stop The Criminalization )

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 1:41 pm

Introduction:

My goals for my paper was to include 3 or more quotes to support my argument, to go over the minimum word count and to persuade my reader to agree with my argument. I also wanted to ensure that I sharpened some of my grammar errors and I even tried something new by using descriptive scenes to start of my essay. I worked on my essay a lot, I did a lot of deleting, editing and revising before I got a finished product. If I was to do this essay again I would write a lot more so when it comes to deleting I would not have as much to read and I would also get more peer edits. Overall I am proud of myself and my essay. I worked hard on it and gave it my best.

Stop The Criminalization

He walks down the street with all black on. Black hoodie, black jeans, black sneakers and don’t forget he’s black. Stopped by the police, quickly patted down and thrown in the police car. They didn’t find anything on him but as the police said: “He fits the description.”He fitted the description of some crime. The cops aren’t sure about what crime he “committed” but they are sure it is something.

This scene presented above is so common considering it’s one of the everyday norms African Americans face mostly males. For a long time, things have been this way back since racism. Racism has impacted the way things ended up occurring in today life. So many African Americans face the same troubles and worries considering this is such a norm and they often have to think how can I dress, talk or act so that I don’t get pulled over or attacked by police authorities.

We as a community and a society have criminalized everyday social interactions from our African American males. We have allowed our males to think that they will be punished for being themselves. Allowing them to second think their outfits, what neighborhood to be in and what to say considering they could be accused of something illegal based on stereotypes and accusations of their race.

Violence in the society has only gotten worse throughout the years considering the situations we have been facing. Your race, your gender, and your clothing can determine so much to a police officer nowadays. Walking down the street and you fit the description of a suspect. But it’s the same one suspect a black male and anyone can fit this description. The community is endangered and it's sad that enough people aren’t informed.

Statistics imply that “ 6.66 Black, 3.23 Hispanic/Latino, 2.9 White and 1.17 Asian/ Pacific Islander.” Of all the different races, the African Americans have the highest percentage of deaths due to police brutality. Statistics like this have allowed the males in our community fear for their race considering their race is the most endangered. Endangered considering huge populations of their own race have been getting killed and it's nothing they could do about it. The only thing they can do is worry and hope that they won't be next.

“Seeing so many black men killed by police and having negative experiences with law enforcement have made him less empathetic to the police.” African American males can not even feel comfortable or trust police enforcement considering they have often been accused and attacked just because of their race. “I’ve had a gun in my face from a police officer before,” he said. “I didn’t feel it was warranted, but he (the officer) did. I’ve been pulled over for a tail light that wasn’t out.” when you are being accused of something for no reason you have to stop and rethink everything action to ensure your safety.

You have to think should I turn here? Should I wear all black? Should I wear a hoodie? And I think this something that should not be a norm in today’s society. We have allowed black men to believe that everything they do, wear or say is a crime and that their race is automatically a target.

One resolution would be to work harder on fighting towards police brutality. If more people stood up and spoke out on situations there would be justice and statistics wouldn’t be as high. Another solution would be rebelling against things and being yourself. Don’t allow police brutality or your race stop any of your social interactions. If you like who you remain yourself.

“Along with racial profiling and other legal harassment, like stop-and-frisk, being pushed through a window by police has apparently become a new reality for brown-skinned kids. Yet how is such aggression and violence justified by law enforcement, and are these incidents to be imagined as mere coincidence” although this is considered a “reality” it should stop occurring.African American males should be able to love themselves and should never feel like anything they do, wear or say is considered a crime.  Stop the criminalization and start to love the African American males in our community for who they really are.

Introduction:

The goal of my interview was to end up with a clean , clear interview. I tried my best to have clear sounds and recording , I made a lot of cuts and edit before I had made my final copy of my interview. I also interviewed 3 people to see who woud provided me with the best answers and I used one interview as my final interview piece. Some struggles I had faced would be working on sound trap , considering I had never used soundtrap before I made a lot of mistakes I later on had to fix. If I was to do this project again something I would do differently is not ask so many questions so I have time to add narration and add extra sound effects in my interview.

Advanced Essay #3 [Society Identity V.S Self Identity]

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 9:37 pm
 Introduction:
There are 2 different identities. Society’s identity and Your own selves identity. The one that should matter the most is your own identity, however, society’s identity always is found to be more important to people.  People allow the people in the society to identify who they are when in reality the only you can identify yourself to the fullest extent. This paper took time to create , I had to observe a lot of different sources before I stuck with some and I did a lot of rewriting. Overall I think my paper came out very well and polished.

In life, you experience obstacles before you can identify yourself and find out who you belong to or what you belong to. You will never know right away who you are. All of these things take time considering you will always be trying to figure out who you are, and what you like or dislike. People are different so they will never figure out things at the same time. However, society gets in the way of how people identify themselves. Society gets in the way when they allow people to think or believe there is only one way to live and one place to belong to.

People a part of the society are the ones who remove others of what they identify as and change their perspectives towards themselves. Since society has an ideal set on what different people of different races and genders should do or think people don’t self-identify. They allow others to identify them and let other people take control. Stereotypes play a big role in how society influences identity in our community and world. Men should wear pant suits and sneakers while women should wear dress, heels or skirts. Stereotypes like those change people’s perspectives of themselves and would cause them to question their own identity. In an article called Society shapes identity, Jessica Fussell claims “Through our gender, society dictates what jobs would be suitable for us, what we should wear, how we should look, who we are to socialize with and what is acceptable or not.”  Jessica is showing and presenting how people get identified and stereotyped based on of everything even things like gender. The article also argues that “Although each person has their own individual personality, ideas and thoughts, we are shaped by the society and culture which surrounds us every day.” What this quote dictates is that people base their personality and ideas based off what is expected of their society or culture instead of basing things off of their personal opinions or points.

It takes some people longer to figure these things out considering they are not willing to accept themselves, so they won’t be able to understand who they belong to. Rather it's a religion, race, gender or anything everyone belongs to something different and has the right to belong to something different. However, sometimes society doesn’t accept who people belong to when they rename people's identity. Heidi Durrow’s Identity, Race or Otherwise, Is Your Lived Experience claims “I spoke Danish at home. I ate Danish food. At Christmas, we danced around the Christmas tree singing Danish carols. But when I went outside my home, I was black.” In this quote you see how even though she was one thing at home, when she stepped outside she allowed the society and other people to classify her and identify her as something different. This shows how people in the society deprive people of what they are and make them be what they were perceived of observed as. Although they perceived her and observed her as something different she should still speak up but instead she won’t considering the people of the society said it.

Society identity will always have an ideal set and expectations of how each gender, race and social class should act, do or believe in. No matter how someone identifies themselves the people of the society will always deprive and remove them of what they self-identify as.  However, a self-identity is always better and you can be whatever you want when you're the only person in charge of your identity.

Speaking Up

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 1:47 pm
This essay fits into my development as a writer because I have grown as a writer. I achieved my goals that I had set for this essay. My goals were to complete my essay on time, revise properly, be more descriptive and support the main idea. I am proud that I accomplished my goals, worked hard, and asked for help even when I didn't want to. As I continue writing essays I can improve as a writer by reading more to see other writers ideas and just by working on my grammar.

The bell quickly shakes, and classes change. I drag my feet as I quickly shift my head over to the front of the classroom I see that my teacher is still absent. Before she turned her head to the classroom, chalk screeched across the board as she wrote out Ms.E. When I was in middle school, my teachers were often out of school so we had a lot of substitute teachers. The substitute teachers were often rude or they thought they knew everything. I often spoke up telling what we were supposed to be doing and they wouldn’t listen to me. Or I was sent to the office for being rude when I was only voicing both my opinion and saying what we did normally.

The teacher starts off by greeting the class and then she tells everyone  “sit down, remain quiet”, and demands that we ask her nothing. Meaning she didn’t want us to ask to go to the bathroom, to go get water, or even ask for help. We were expected to be silent. As she spoke aloud to the class she rolled her eyes, claps her hands and raised her voice. Everyone is in complete shock and can’t believe that she has talked to us so rudely. One of the students quickly stood up and responded “ You're only a sub, so don’t tell us what to do, were allowed to talk in this class. Also the project we are working on is a group project so you should shut up.” Then another student spoke aloud saying “We didn’t ask you to be here.” Shortly after that the room was surrounded in laughter. The sub was now furious.

The substitute stood in front of the class responding “I don’t care about your project or you as a whole. Everyone is expected to be quiet this period and that's that.” She had then wrote on the board “Principal offices” in big letters as if it was supposed to shake the classroom but it had only made it worse. After she had said her briefing speech , I turned back around and continued my conversation. I was talking to my group about the project that we had due tomorrow. The sub had ran toward my desk and thrown her hands on the desk quickly. She then scowled “Whats going on? Who's talking and why are they talking?” So I quickly had responded “We are doing what we are supposed to do , and getting work done.” The teacher had been annoyed with how I responded so she quickly wrote my name in big letters on the board.

I figured regardless of who was in front of the class, if an assignment is given you should do that assignment during that class period. Before I could argue my point I had been sent to the principal's office once again for “talking back” when in reality I was doing what I believed was the right thing to do. However the principal wasn’t trying to hear my side of the story and he was upset that I had been sent to his office.

He asked me to go apologize, and I simply refused. When you are being perceived as rude and you don’t think you’re being rude it can be very frustrating because maybe that’s just how you talk or react to things. If you're accused of being rude when you were trying to speak up it seems like someone is trying to shut you out or shut your voice out of the loop. In this situation I felt like the narrator in the story being stripped of the first amendment just as she was or at least how she had felt. Gloria Anzaldua states “Attacks one’s form of expression with the intent to censor are a violation of the First Amendment” , I felt like I was being censored and couldn't voice my opinion. If I wasn’t censored I would be able to speak on things and not get attacked for it.

However sometimes even if you’re right , you will still be accused of being wrong. It’s all about people  misunderstanding people verbally, physically and mentally. When people don’t understand you they will accuse you of trying to be negative , when in reality you may be trying to be positive and things just come out wrong. People often misunderstand people because they might not know them well enough so they judge or quickly assume based off of body language or tone in someone's voice.  That can make someone who is trying to do good , want to do bad cause they will think since people accuse me I might as well act or do what they expect of me or accuse me of doing anyways. For example it states in the text “How To Tame A Wild Tongue” on page 53, “ I remember being sent to the corner of the classroom for “talking back” to the Anglo teacher when all I was trying to do was tell her to pronounce my name.” She had been accused of talking back when she just wanted the respect of having her name being pronounced properly. Since she spoke up she was in trouble and I believe situations like this make you want to be negative when you tried being positive.

Before you accuse, judge, or react be sure to remember that there is always two sides of the story. Hearing the other side of the story would change the situation in a more negative way or positive way depending on the situation.

Advanced Essay #1: [He was the one that caught my eye]

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in English 3 · Block/Franz/Taylor-Baranik · E Band on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 8:39 am

Introduction: The goals for my paper were to get the audience to understand how I got over my shyness and was able to talk to someone I really liked. I am proud that I was able to use something important to me in a class writing assignment. I normally write on topic and this gave me a chance to talk about what I like and what made me happy. Areas for improvement in the future go to more people for feedback, expand my writing vocabulary and next writing I will write more even though I wrote pass the word limit. I am proud that I came out with a good piece of writing and that I worked hard on it.

When we got to the game it was about 7:15. The other team was in the lead unfortunately but after the 3rd quarter, they started working hard getting the score back close to a tying score. As we were watching the game, the game plays for Overbrook were working. The team runs down the field tossing the ball back and forth to one another, knocking anyone down in their way. Touchdown ! The crowd screams and the cheerleaders began to cheer. The Overbrook panthers had scored another touchdown and got in the lead. The crowd is now stomping their feet and clapping loudly. Overbrook had made a touchdown tying score. After the touchdown was made a certain player catches my eye. He has on an orange and black jersey. I’m not really sure who he is or what position he plays but he had my attention that whole game. Player 15. Every Time I looked on that field I looked and watched player 15 run through players like it was nothing , helping the team score.

He had my attention through the whole game and nothing else had my attention. I completely ignored the other players as if he was the only player on that team. I went to a couple games just too shy to actually talk to him. I thought of so many different ways to approach him but I never would go through with it. I thought of talking to him before the game , talking to him after the game , or just talking to him through one of the other team members but I never tried any of these ideas. I even thought of like bumping into him but I knew that wouldn’t work out.

So many thoughts in my head. I didn’t even know how to go over and start a conversation with him. I wanted to get over my shyness and just go talk to him. I was so shy and I wouldn’t wanna talk to him if I was too shy because that could have been embarrassing I thought.

I went to a couple games hoping to see his face but I never saw him. He would always go from the locker room straight to the bus so I never got a chance after the game to speak and before the game, I didn’t want to knock his focus so I stayed to myself. One night I went to a game and after the game was over he took off his helmet and I thought he was so handsome in my eyes. I figured at that point I had to talk to him one way or another. I told myself that I shouldn’t be scared and I should take the risk because the worst thing he could say would be no. One day I was outside of my cousin’s house and I saw him walking down the street with my friend. First I thought of going in the house trying to avoid him , then I figured no I should stop being so scary and just speak up and say something. So I took a deep breath and called my friend to the side. When he came to the side I told my friend to get his number for me and he told me to stop being so shy and speak. So I went over , talked to him for a minute and things went well.

We hung out a couple times and at first things were kinda awkward but after a while things got better. If I hadn’t talked to him or spoke up I wouldn’t have got a chance to meet him. So I was glad I got over my shyness and spoke up because it changed things for the better. I was glad that things got better than before because if things continued to be the way they were then maybe things wouldn’t have worked out. Our first date was really weird at first because we didn’t know what to talk about or even what we wanted to for at the restaurant. After a while, we got more comfortable talking with each other and dates were more relaxing and fun. We went out to eat a lot , and to the movies once or twice.

Time had passed we got to know each other better. We had found a lot in common like our attitudes, interest and we shared some of the same values. Things were looking good throughout the time when we made things official.

We had our tough times but overall I don’t think I would want to be with anyone else. Thinking back to months ago when I was afraid to even approach him , I wouldn’t have imagined us together as of now. As you know his number was 15, but now he’s player 7 because it’s my favorite number.

Jaszmine's ILP

Posted by Jaszmine Randle in Ilp - 10Th Grade - Miles - Wed on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:44 pm
My experience with my ILP was very interesting however boring at times. I was able to sit in a classroom with kindergarten and first-grade autistic students I learned with them, read to some of them and helped them in my best ability. The only thing I did not like about my ILP is that I was often having to make lots of copies for the teacher and I was not in the classroom with the students as much. This ILP has made me a better person, I learned a lot more about people with autism and what they experience. I learned to interact with children better, and I learned to be more open with new things. This ILP opened me up to something new and even though I don't like change all the time this is something I mostly joined. Something I am looking forward to is involving myself in more activities and studying autism more its a very interesting thing to me.

ILP Blog Post 1st Semester, Randle

Somethings that went well is I got a chance to help students with autism learn how to interact better with people and their surroundings. Something I am looking forward to is getting a chance to work with the older autistic children. Something that stands out is the way the school operates , and how the students react to things. For the most part I am printing copies for the teacher but I am sometimes placed in the classroom and I play with the blocks with the kids. Go over colors with them and try to get them to converse more.

Artist Statement:

My visual on ¨Reconstruction¨ is trying to show how the ¨freed¨ slaves felt after they earned their freedom and how the society reacted to them receiving their freedom. The Caucasian southerners did not want the slaves to be free and how they often threatened slaves who said they were free. The slave standing in front of the mirror is supposed to be free however he is shown as a slave because that is how the society portrays and classifies him even though he has his freedom. As he looks in the mirror he sees himself with land & wealth. According to him that is what a freed man should have. But since he did not have this he did not feel free, and even though he had his freedom slaves still were not allowed to even own or rent property.

This matters in my opinion because not many people paid attention to how the ¨freed¨ slaves actually felt. Most people assumed that since they got the title of having freedom that they received what free people got and they didn't. It was also interesting to find out how some of the ¨freed¨ slaves felt because some of them were happy about getting freedom, some were upset about getting freedom and some were confused in what freedom even was. Some slaves were at first happy to hear that they were going to be free soon but after that they were feeling upset because they did not get treated any different from some people because they still were forced and ordered to do things. Some of the slaves were upset because being a slave was what they knew and they were already adapted to the slavery and did not agree with change at all. The other slaves that were confused did not want to be free because they did not know what freedom was. They also would not know the next step after that. They would also be forced to find their own living arrangements, food and way to make money.

When creating this political cartoon I tried my best to leave the audience thinking and to also make sure that people had questions after observing the cartoon. I did not want the cartoon to include too much text because the audience would not have to think too much about it. But if you observe the cartoon closely and open up your mind the message is within the text…...

Something that I could change if I was to redo this project again is add more details to all my objects. For example show the blinds on the window. A drawing on the wall I think was successful is Deja Harrison's project. I believe it was successful because she had a lot of objects, & you could tell that she took her time. Something that I learned about one point prospective is that all depending were you sit in the room objects will appear differently.

¨DONT JUDGE¨ By: Jaszmine Randle

Behind A Slide

The significance behind my slide is to prove against judgemental view points. Before children even can decide what they want to be in life they get categorized as the kid with the big head or the ugly child because of their appearances. You cant make a stereotype about a child that is unknown. You should not do that to a child since they are not known in the world yet. For example people judge ¨Blue Ivy¨ & ¨North West¨ because of their parents backgrounds & their appearances. No one even knows what they're going to be in life.

The way I designed my slide was using ¨MAKE TYPE BIG¨ I made sure that my text was big on my slide. I ¨MADE IT VISUAL¨ because I made sure that my quote was visual and I got my point across with a few words¨. Creating this slide helped me learn the different ways to create a billboard. A billboard can be as detailed as you want  or described in 3 words. Presentation is the key to a good billboard because however you look at the billboard unless its well designed you can't’ get your point across.

Home Network, Randle

mind mapping software
Explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. Take this from the 1st assignment, when I sent you home to list the parts of your network.

-The devices that are connected to my internet connection is 1 tablet , 4 computers, 2 xbo 360 , 1 wii console, 4 phones, 1 smart tv, & 1 printer

Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if so write about what you learned. what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

- Something that i did not know about home networks that if you are using school internet you must use there internet only no other hotspots or interne connections.  Something that i would teach people about there home network is that everything is connected and nothing can be delted. Even though you clicked the delete button it still can be pulled up and effect your future
