My element is Arsenic (AS) and its number is 33. My element was said to have been discovered by the Chinese, Greek, and the Egyptians. But, the only person on record is Albertus Magnus. It was said that in 1250 when he heated up soap with orpiment. It was then used mainly for rat poison, pest insecticides, and even cancer treatments. I chose to draw that because it reminds me of a bottle of poison. So, the "A" is the bottle and in the middle there's a skull with a cross to represent it's danger. Then, I added the "S" next to a handle. The bottom part represents a mouse trap, so it's almost like the "S" is getting trapped. After figuring out this image I then had to trace it onto a smaller thin paper. From there I transferred my art onto a plate. This plate was then dipped in ink and stamped onto a paper. Afterwards, I hung up my paint, then when dried, I gave it a border. I would have chosen a drawing with more lines because since I had a lot of negative space, it was hard to see the positive. But, I enjoyed printing my art and turning them into stamps. It was cool to see my art almost come to life and have color in it.

This is a stamp using negative and positive space. Where the negative is the white space and the positive is the pink because it's the "main attraction." It's an E, M, and a B. Representing my middle, first, and last name. The reason the "E" looks almost like arrows is because I love music. It reminds me of the play buttons on an mp3 player. The "M" is in the middle because I like being the center of attention. The middle is where you focus most on. The "B" is at the end because I was trying to make two arrows. It represented the fast forward button because I always think ahead of everyone. 
The assignment was basically asking us to show a stamp that represented us best. I started off with a drawing of an actual stamp with pretty designs, but I realized it'd be hard because of the positive and negative space. I would've had to cut out most of the stamp in order to have "empty" space, (a.k.a. negative space.) But then I figured sticking to something simple. I looked at a list of words that represented me and this came to mind.
It's important to show what's negative and what's positive so the audience can understand what's going on. Naturally, your eyes are drawn to the positive space, which is were the pink is. But, the white space is needed in order for that pink to pop, which is why that's the negative.
Overall, I learned how something as simple as negative and positive space can change the meaning of an overall photo. If I had used my other one your eyes would be drawn to many different things, causing confusion. Whereas, this is less complex, but says a lot.

Negative Space

Negative Space
Negative space is basically the empty space in a picture. For example, in the image above if you only focus on the left, then the negative space is grey. But, if you focus on the right then it's the opposite because the grey parts are the parts creating the image. When I cut the image out I kept all the pieces. I separated them so that they would be like mirror images or opposites. For example, when I cut out the house I kept the piece that had an outline of the house so that I could paste it on the opposite side. It helps an artist to see the negative space because it helps to create the image and it's like emphasising the piece in art form by using space. I feel like only viewing it in negative space is better. This is because it's more straight forward and it's less confusing.

Printmaking

​ Printmaking originated in China after paper was made. It's basically using different techniques to print some form of art. There's different ways of making it such as intaglio, lithography, and serigraphy. Intaglio is when you use wood and carve into it to create the image you want. Lithography is when you use a stone and carved into it, but this was mainly used for writing text. Serigraphy is when you use polyester and stencil. It was a new way to show art. This is what made it revolutionary. People became famous and well known by using this art. These people include Van Gogh, Edouard Manet, and Edgar Degas.Their art inspired many others to make their own techniques.

The image shown below was made by Jeremy Moore. The first thing I noticed were the different shades of black. It was interesting to see how he used a slight hint of gray and some black to show details in his face. The contrast between the white and black really gives a dark effect without having to much black in it. I wondered how he made it darker in some areas while still having it light in others. I also wondered how this print might've changed if more colors were added. Overall, the print really stuck out to me and it was a very unique way of using the 2 colors.

Media Fluency: Reflection

I learned that you should be very careful with the design. For example, in my last slide it wasn't properly centered. In this one I made sure everything was even. That's why I put the pictures where they are so it would be well centered. I also learned not to add so much text. I decided to focus on the visual aid because of this, which is why I added pictures and had less words. In my last slide I feel like the color pink didn't really fit me and made the slide more childish, so I had more empty spaces and chose white for a more mature theme. I tried to separate the colors within the pictures because 2 were colorful and the other 3 were black and white. This is why the color is more to the top and the non-colorful is towards the bottom. I did a lot of research before starting which helped me plan out my thoughts well but I feel like if I would've done more research it would've helped me to be more organized.

I focused more on “glance media.” This is why I have creative colors for the text and the background of the slide. There were many colors added, mainly bright, but I tried not to add too much and stick to a theme of colors. Also, I focused on the “text aids” so that the text is visible and clear. I made the words big enough to see so that the audience won’t struggle and ignore it. Most of the words were bigger than 40 in font size in. I sticked to “one slide and one point” by not adding so much information that’ll make it boring. "Contrast" was most important for my slide. There were certain words I made bigger than others because they were the key points of the slide. It gave the slide more emotion and excite by making some words bigger than the rest.


My Home Network

A) My younger brother's XBox is connected to the router by a ethernet cable. My phone, My mom's T.V., and my brother's laptop is connected by WIFI. 

Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.
A) I learned that if you set up the WIFI in a higher place in your home you'll have faster internet because WIFI falls over a home creating sort of a bubble.

What would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?
A) When looking for a good ISP make sure there internet is actually fast and runs at the speed of light because that's the fastest internet.

A) My phone, my mom’s T.V., and my older brothers laptop are all connected by WIFI. My younger brothers Xbox is connected by an ethernet cable.

2) Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.

A) I found out that if you set up your internet in a high place in your home the internet will be faster and better for the whole house.

What would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?

A) You should first make sure that the internet service provider is providing you with fast speed internet. That I know of Verizon Fios is the fastest internet provider.
