The Passage that I have created below is a passage that I have written and feel that could have partook a role in the plot of this book. It examines the man and the boy talking briefly about the mother, but it dives more into the symbolism of her leaving them, and

The man was beginning to drift off to rest.
Papa?
Yes.
What was she like?
Who?
Mama.
The man was silent.
Well…?
Why do you ask?
I heard you mutter her name when you were resting.
Go to sleep.
Okay.
The man woke up before the boy. He salvaged what was left of the fire to prepare their breakfast. The boys eyes creaked open only to find the somber beach he drifted off on.
Papa?
Yes?
You never answered my question.
The man handed the boy the boy his meal. Here eat this.
The boy stood up frustrated. He slapped the food out of his hand. Why won’t you tell me?!
Damnit. The man shouted. You really want to know about her!?
Yes. Shouted the boy.
She was a quitter! She left us for dead. There are two kinds of people in this ashen world we live in. There are the people that have hope and don’t.
Okay.
There are people that aren’t afraid to fight for what you have. Those people are the ones that make it. All you are is a hopeless wanderer trapped in the obscurity of the never ending grey shadow of the bezaleel. Do you understand what I am saying?
No.
What I am trying to say is never give up. You’re the last of all our hope. Always carry the fire. You’re the last of the good guys.
Okay.
What about you Papa?
What?
Are you a good guy?
I don't know.
Okay
Rationale
So, what I decided to address the theme in this book of “Good Guys, and Bad Guys” and the idea of “not giving up. I chose to address the idea of good guys and bad guys specifically because I felt like I would be able to achieve that from the scene where the man remembers when he was dreaming about his wife. This scene stuck out to me because I wanted to write more about the man’s wife just because I felt like she wasn’t mentioned enough in the book, but I chose this one specifically because it was closer to the end, and there had been more controversy that had occurred in the book, and the father had built up a relationship more with his son that the reader would be able to see and understand some of the references that I made in the passage. The scene from the book that I wrote about was right after the scene of the boy and the man on the beach and the boy had gone swimming. He comes out and they are sitting by the fire. This scene was supposed to be a “don’t poke the bear” scene. For the majority of the book, the father had managed to keep his cool with the boy, but in this one I wanted it to show another side to the man. The boy asked his father a couple of questions about his mom, and the man sent him signals not to ask, but the boy still asked.
I chose several motifs to represent this book, in my passage because the book itself is filled with them and there are so many juicy ones that you could choose from and honestly I couldn’t decide between them. Since this scene is happening between the father and the son, I wanted to use the motif “Okay” because that is a common word that is used a ton between the two of them when there is simply nothing else to say in conversation. They have become numb. “Okay” is symbolic of how they communicate. Another motif that I choose to write about was the one that was addressing the greyness that surrounds them. Mccarthy throughout the whole book is always addressing how neutral and gloomy the world is, and so I thought it couldn’t be a real scene from the book, if there was no “grey” reference. And in all of this grey, there was the fire which is supposed to be symbolic of hope. This is what the boy is supposed to be carrying inside his heart, and he should never let it sizzle out (words from his father)
There was one word that I specifically chose to use which was “bezaleel”. This word means chief architect of the tabernacle. I worded this sentence as another motif/theme to make reader question if there truly was a God not in our world, but their world. Since the reader is following the mand and the boy through the book, we tend to take their side. The man has lost his fire or hope in all religion whatsoever and he is not going to let the boy lose his fire in hope for survival.English BMQ1
Cultural Fabric
Our album covers many different themes of the problems that we have encountered today. The album, comes to terms with the issues of the world. It faces the facts, and overall has a very good acceptance with who we’ve become. The songs insult many different aspects of society today. These songs, however are not saying that all of this stuff is bad though. It is just accepting all of these problems and saying that these are all livable conditions. All of these problems were relevant in the past but over time have been more and more problematic in our present day.
The first song about Donald Trump’s hair is just there to be funny but it serves a very good purpose. Many large media companies have tried to pass off these jokes of candidates such as Trump as serious contenders for the White House. On all forms of social media people have been bashing him and others like him for his joke of a candidacy. While all of those funny they aren’t well put together in a form which will leave a great impact on them and will gain any serious attention in the media. Having a majorly publicized album gains this satire major attention and leaves a large impact on voters. The way this song gets attention makes it easier to see that in order to win in politics you have to gain the most attention. This song is a representative of what everyone is saying on social media that doesn’t gain much attention.
Political correctness has also been a major issue of today. People in the news tend to be critical of the very small things that people say such as joking by saying a racial slur. They do this especially to famous people and even more so to those who they want to be bashed such as those who share contrasting political opinions to them. Satirical shows like Southpark have pushed the boundaries of how far it is okay to go. The majority of the show makes fun of current events and inputs real people with extreme caricatures. The song is very similar to what shows like Southpark are trying to do. The song is essentially saying there is no harm or foul in crossing the boundaries since no one gets hurt by it. The very fact that people who aren’t politically correct get bashed more often than those who commit serious crimes against others is why this song is correct. This song draws attention to those who criticize those on things they say that don’t hurt people but are more light on those who commit serious offenses.
Harassment has evolved passed physically harming someone. With anonymity becoming easier with the advent of the internet people have resorted to several different types of bullying. They tell others to kill themselves, encourage others to bash them online, and leak nude photos of them onto the internet for others to see on social media websites. Harassment to the point of suicide is a major cause of death in adolescents. The song goes through the different reasons for why the person wants to commit suicide to emphasize the current amount of reasons there are for people to commit suicide these days which have only been amplified by the increasing accessibility to the internet.
Racial tensions has also been a rapidly increasing theme of today especially in the last year due to the shootings of unarmed black citizens. Many news organizations such as FOX have misconstrued the public's agenda and say there is a war on cops. People are too focused on fighting each other that they don’t see the importance of coming together and finding the issue. The song talks about how people are so focused on fighting on both sides of the issue that they can’t accomplish anything.
The album tackling all of these themes in its unique way is in itself also attempting to address the current day crisis of lack of originality. This album clearly doesn’t want to be like any of the generic pieces of music in its generation and wants to stand out. It’s trying to bring back the originality that used to be so common for albums back in the sixties and seventies. The artist looked back at music from those decades and saw that it takes someone who is willing to include controversial issues in an interesting way in their art to gain attention in order to have a successful original album. People today try to be original in many different forms of media such as videos and books but are unsuccessful because their work isn’t polished, cohesive and doesn’t gain attention. This work solves all of those problems and makes itself an original piece of art that deserves to go down in history alongside other landmark albums.
Review
As you have probably heard, David Fricke, a very commendable senior journalist from our magazine has passed. He has been with us for 30 years and was one of the best journalist we have ever had pass through our hands. Writing for us, he has reviewed Led Zeppelin, the Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, The Ramones, and many others. The list just goes on to demonstrate how creative this man is in his reviews and interviews. David Fricke has mainly stuck with Rock entrees but he has also ventured out into many other genres. He often complained that after the new millennium came he didn’t have many more great albums and most of them were garbage. He wanted to see something original and landmark like the great albums of the sixties and seventies. He would have loved to see a work such as “Untitled” by Paul Wright. I feel as though this is a work the David would have very much appreciated and would have felt similarly as I do to it.
The first song on this album “Fair Hair” stands out from any intro song, on any album that I can remember. It starts off with an upbeat acoustic guitar riff that plays throughout the song. The song then goes on to describe someone’s weird hair with political terms as if to humanize the hair. The hair is made out to be a politician who tries to stand out by doing outrageous things, gains popularity among voters, and ends up winning his candidacy. The song is obviously a reference to Donald Trump and his outrageous hair. The song makes clear references to him where he sings, “The hair has no liking for anyone who's mexican or doesn’t share his same complexion”. He obviously wants to get his agenda across that it’s ridiculous how Trump is gaining popularity with all of the controversial things he said. The song takes a funny attitude toward the whole thing and makes it sound like some kind of children’s story. The style is reminiscent of the song “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” by The Beatles in how they are very bright upbeat acoustic songs. What sets this piece apart and elevates it from that is how it manages to keep that style while also getting a serious agenda across.
The song then fades out as the acoustic guitar turns into a distorted electric guitar. The song “Minority” is heavy and completely contrasts to the more child friendly “Fair Hair”. It uses several racial slurs and shows it’s clearly not afraid to be criticized. There was no care to censor the song in anyway. These slurs are not said in an offensive but rather in a casual way. The song makes it seem as though these slurs are casual and are only offensive when used for an offensive purpose. After listening to the song multiple times I have found that it has numbed me to the offensive meanings of those slurs and has turned them into casual words one would say with their friends when joking. For example the Jokes about black people doing drugs and being lazy are just laughable and are made to be seen as unrealistic caricatures which hold no merit. After the song goes through the different minorities it comes back to white people and makes fun of how they insult all of the previously mentioned minorities in the song but try to be like them. It repeats the phrase, “but who cares throughout the song” to show that it doesn’t matter what he thinks if he does nothing with it.
The rock song then slows down and turns into an acoustic song with piano. “A Day in Suicide”. The song is obviously sampling the song “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles. It even starts off with similar lyrics, “I read my feed today oh boy” which is reference to his social media feed. He goes through the several different ways in which he is bullied online such as being told to kill himself and others making fun of his physical appearance. He tries to kill himself everyday but can’t pull himself together. The song makes sure it goes into every detail to the listener feels as though they are there with him if not that they are him. It follows the same style as “A Day in the Life” up until the point where the song reaches its climax and is about to change style to the happier portion of the song. Instead after the suspenseful build up from the horns it stays in the same depressing style it was in and says, “and there’s no relief for me”. The song makes you feel as though you are trapped in a rainstorm with nothing to shelter you and every drop is an insult. The ambiguous ending which leaves you wondering as to whether he lived or not really makes you feel for the character to emphasize that people can and should feel sympathy for others in a similar situation to the character of the song.
Bleeding straight out of “A day in suicide” it then goes into the next song that goes by “Fine Fettle”. This song is similar to the “Cup song” from Pitch Perfect. The cup song begins only with the beat of the cups and with some vocals on top of it. “Fine Fettle” starts off with a beat. The beat consists only of a snare drum and the bass drum. These two are kind of toying with each other instrumentally. The beat that they are doing almost sounds like a ballad, mixed with a marching beat. Then comes the vocals. The vocals are three different pitches. It is completely an a capella song. The different pitches of this song are the bass line, chord pitches, and the melody/lead of the song . This song is focusing on the health care aspect of today’s society. It tells a depressing story of a man that cannot afford healthcare in today’s society because of how expensive it has become. The last line in the song says “Debt higher than my eyes, and when you don’t sympathize, I’ll creep off to Sleep, as my doctor says he died, nobody's gonna miss me when I’m gone”. This lyric alone is somewhat similar to the cup song but it really talks about the health care aspect.
And Finally, the last song is bleed into through the last line of “Fine Fettle”. This line is focusing on how black lives, in today’s society are under appreciated, and how it is not acceptable for everybody. We must change the way that everybody in the nation lives. There can’t be any racism in our society for our nation to fully change, and that is the issue that this song is facing. The song itself is a slow blues acoustic fingerpicking, slide song that is an extremely deep and emotional song. This song is called Grey Asphalt. One of the main lyrics of this piece that really caught my attention was “walking down the corner where the streets connect. Racial integration needs to be our intersect.” This song is very similar to Crossroads by Robert Johnson. Cross roads talks about a man that is standing at the crossroads trying to hitch a ride. In Grey Asphalt, it talks about the streets all connecting just as all races do.

Taming of the Shrew vs. SIlver Linings Playbook
The Silver Linings Playbook, of Taming of the Shrew
In the essence of The silver linings playbook, anybody that watches it, sees it through the eyes of a modern love story that was written recently, but on the contrary, the movie is based off of many key points from the original play written by william shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew. Whilst there are many different aspects to this movie, the overall image given from this movie is based on the same grounds. Parental guidance is a very present view in both of these forms of medias. Both of the medias allow the parents in the scripts to allow a very clear influence on how they live their lives.
This first example is in the taming of the shrew. In this scene, hortensio is communicating with baptista. He is basically saying that bianca is his treasure and that he needs to get his treasure back from baptista, even though he never had her. “Tarry, Petruchio, I must go with thee, For in Baptista's keep my treasure is: He hath the jewel of my life in hold, His youngest daughter, beautiful Bianca, And her withholds from me and other more.” - Act 1 Scene 2.7 This scene connects well with the filter of the fact that parents control many aspects of their childrens lives because it is literally him saying that the father of the girl that he “loves” owns his daughter and he has to get her from him. This relates to the silver linings playbook because a very similar situation happens in that movie. The one thing that is different is that instead of Pat saying that he loves tiffany and talking to a friend, he is talking to her parents and there is another man that is saying that he “loves” her and he wants to date her. Pat and her parents are the ones that are standing up for her and keeping the creep away from her. This is on the same grounds of the taming of the shrew but it is not exactly the same.
“Quote 1: Silver Linings Playbook
Jordie: Hi, guys. How's it going? Hey. Is Tiffany home?
Tiffany's Mother: Go away.
Jordie: I know her. I know her, we've dated. We still date.
Pat: What are you doing here?
Jordie: I've called her, I've texted her.
Pat: [to Tiffany's parents] Do you know this guy?
Jordie: I still haven't heard back. We used to work together...
Tiffany's Father: Just get the hell out of here...
Jordie: I just wanted to give you my card to give to her.
Tiffany's Father: Another rude creep.
Pat: Listen to what he's saying. Listen to what he's saying.
Jordie: What's he saying?
Pat: He's saying you're being rude.”
This next quote relates to the idea of parents controlling relationships and just simply their childrens lives all together. This next scene, from the taming of the shrew, is of tranio. He has to find somebody to be Lucientio’s fake father so that way he will be able to seal the deal with his wedding. He has to have his parents approval in the process.
“I see no reason but supposed Lucentio, Must get a father, call'd 'supposed Vincentio;', And that's a wonder: fathers commonly, Do get their children; but in this case of wooing, A child shall get a sire, if I fail not of my cunning.”Act 2 Scene 1.12
This is another clear example of the fact that parents back then used to be involved in relationships and this next quote proves that it still goes on today. In this example, Pat senior is freaking out because he just lost a ton of money on a bet and then he starts blaming it on Pat junior because he was “messing up the Juju”. SHortly after, Tiffany walks in yelling at Pat Junior because he was supposed to be with her for the day but instead he blew it off so he could be with his dad and go to the eagles game to fix the juju. Instead he got arrested for fighting there. Pat senior starts yelling at Tiffany for messing up the Juju and she snaps back at him completely proving him wrong. She turns everybody who wasn’t on her team, onto her side. Right after her smooth ending, you her Pat senior say that he likes her and that he approves of her.
“Tiffany: You think I fucked up the Eagles' juju, don't you?
Pat Sr.: Ever since, ever since he was with you, ever since...
Tiffany: You think that I'm why today's happened?
Pat Sr.: That's right, you are why today happened.
Tiffany: I'm the reason why today happened?
Pat Sr.: I think so.
Tiffany: Let's talk about that.
Pat Sr.: Be my guest.
Tiffany: The first night that Pat and I met at my sister's, the Eagles beat the Forty Niners handily, forty to twenty-six. The second time we got together we went for a run and the Phillies beat the Dodgers seven to five in the NLCS.
Jake: She's right, Dad.
Tiffany: The next time we went for a run, the Eagles beat the Falcons, twenty-seven to fourteen.
Pat: Wow.
Tiffany: The third time we got together we had Raisin Bran in the diner and the Phillies dominated Tampa Bay in the fourth game of the World Series, ten to two.
Pat: Oh, wow.
Pat Sr.: Let me think about that. Wait a minute.
Tiffany: Well, why don't you think about when the Eagles beat the Seahawks, fourteen to seven.
Pat Sr.: He was with you?
Tiffany: He was with me. We went for a run.
Ronnie: Really?
Pat: That's crazy.
Tiffany: There have been no games since Pat and I have been rehearsing every day and if Pat had been with me like he was supposed to, he wouldn't have gotten in a fight, he wouldn't be in trouble, maybe the Eagles beat the New York Giants.
Jake: She's making a lot of sense, Pop. That's all right on all counts.
…
Pat sr. : I gotta say i’m impressed. I gotta rethink this whole thing. I didnt trust her before but i gotta say now i do.
Pat: Oh now you like her dad?
Pat Sr.: I have to say I do. Yup”
This scene and with the way it ends is a clear example of how the image of parental approval in all relationships (romantic or not) always relies on the parents approval. This entire movie is about people with drama who are being approved by not only parents but society.
It can be determined that parents aren’t the only people who have to approve for a relationship to work out. Society has to as well. The silver Linings Playbook is a clear example of how this plays out and the Taming of the Shrew is the basis that this is based off of. This not only happens in movies but also real life. No matter how hard people try to deny it, the success of a relationship requires the approval of all of society.

Analytical Essay:
The men that go off and face war have not changed from back then to modern day today. They not only face different battles because of new technology, yet they all still love and breathe the same way. It needs to be acknowledged that love never changes and all forms of love are constant throughout life. Love always seemed to be the safety net to our leap of faith with partners in a relationship. Having that scenario play out may seem different... love might have the outer shell of being different but overall in the end, going back to the basics. It is the same as it always has been.
This scene is in the intro and is Jimmy cross giving an explanation of why he has the photographs. He goes into depth of how his love is consistent with Martha. He talks about how he thinks about her all the time. He can’t get her out of his mind. He explains the definition of “humping photographs” which means to carry the pictures around. “Almost everyone humped photographs. In his wallet, Lieutenant cross carried two photographs of Martha. At night, sometimes, lieutenant cross wondered who had taken the picture, because he loved her so much and because he could see the shadow of the picture taker spreading out against the brick wall.” (pg. 4) This whole quote is an example of the love that Jimmy cross felt for Martha as he was in the vietnam war. This is something that many soldiers did at the time. They felt that they needed to focus on love as they were over in battle. It may be seen as an odd thing to do but it is perfectly reasonable and it is needed to focus on the idea of love, not whether or not it is creepy but that it is their way to survive the war and their way of just being humans. Soldiers try to survive any way possible and this is one of the ways that they are able to. Soldiers back then all the way up to current day still use this technique. It makes them feel alive when they are in a desolate place. Love may vary for who loves who, love may vary for whether its successful or not, but love never changes. Whether love is successful or not doesn't mean where and how long they went out for. It means whether they stuck together, through thick and then for each other. A successful relationship is one that is faithful and pure.
Jimmy Cross is time flashing forward into the future. Jimmy cross is talking to Tim O’brien, and he is admitting that he still loves her even after the war. “They’d run into each other, he said, at a college reunion in 1979. Nothing had changed. He still loved her. For eight or nine hours, he told him, they spent most of their time together. There was a banquet and then a dance and then afterward they took a walk across the campus and talked about their lives. “ (pg. 28.) This is a case of love never failing. Even sometimes after the war soldiers will continue their love. Love is strange in the sense that people can pick it up almost anywhere. People tend to automatically lean to hatred so when love comes along, they try and grasp it for all their might. Other’s try and deny love. Love is all they can rely on when they are told to do the opposite. When people are separated from their loved ones that is the true challenge and test of their faith for each other. It is testing that not only will they stay loyal to each other but it is testing that they will keep interest in each other. Again, it makes them feel human. Love is an instinct for every person and it is in our DNA to love.
Lieutenant cross in this quote, is off in another world. He is stationed in vietnam, but his mind is afar, thinking about Martha. “Lieutenant Cross gazed at the tunnel. But he was not there. He was buried with Martha under the white sand at the jersey shore. They were pressed together, and the pebble in his mouth was her tongue.” (pg. 12) This is another example of Lieutenant Cross being faced with the struggle of not being able to be with his “girl”. He is doing whatever he can to think of Martha. He was picturing himself with her and a pebble as martha’s tongue to stimulate the emotion of actually being with her. But this is also a good example of how love stays constant. He loved Martha with a deep passion and he loved her so deeply that he put a pebble in his mouth just to feel like he was with her. He represented the love that he created in his mind around her completely with just one pebble. The ironic thing about love is that love doesn’t just come out of anywhere either. It has to be based off of something. There needs to be a spark to light the fuse. And with Martha there was no spark, but the spark that lit Cross’ fuse was when he touched Martha’s leg in their so called date.
Love has always stayed constant throughout life. It is the people who translate it into different scenarios. It is them being afraid of facing love. They are not ready for love. It is something that they are cowering from. In the things they carried, Martha is the one that is cowering from love and Lieutenant Cross is embracing it. Love is sure as hell not a piece of cake, but it isn’t that difficult to achieve. Love comes naturally. All it takes is a little bit of effort from both parties. Love is not something that can just fade out. It has it’s ups and downs but stays pure throughout the end. Lieutenant stayed faithful to Martha (even though they weren’t “together”). He kept his promise and he was able to focus on her and her alone.

Narrative Essay:
Love was never something I experienced as I was growing up. Don’t get me wrong, my parents are the most loving parents(most of the time) you could get, but when you’re a short chubby blonde kid, nobody wants be “boyfriend and girlfriend” with you. I never understood just even close to what the general idea of love. I realized in 9th grade that the idea of love is not just a specific idea. Or at least at the time, i thought love was just a bunch of crazy awesome ideas mashed into one. I lived about a year under the impression of this. And then Anna Sugrue said something to me in a conversation we were having about love. Somehow the conversation lead into the necessities of love and thats when she told me her definition of love. “Love is a complex theory. I compare love to how i love a family member of mine. If one of these family members were to die, I would be absolutely devastated and would want to die. Now of course, if the person I “loved” died, i would be disappointed and sad but only could I say I loved them if I could not love without them. If they were to die so shall I.” After she said this, I pondered over it for the next couple of days. I was honestly dumbfounded. I knew she was right, she had completely stumped me. I had said it in a previous relationship and I knew right away that I didn’t mean it. Of course I thought I meant it, but my heart didn’t mean it. It was at this point did I realize that there is a fine line between liking somebody, and loving them. In this essence, love is always constant in whether love is present or not.
As a child of divorce and remarriage I have seen love die and then form again. My parents became separated on january 11th, 2001. My parents were together for 11 years and married for 4 and a half years. When they separated, I was 3 years of age. I don’t really remember much of the separation but I remember going back and forth from house to house. At that time, and still currently, I live my life around going back and forth. My life schedule revolves around every other week. I automatically had two of everything. A common misconception that I have heard from first hand experience is that divorce is good because of getting two of everything. “You get two birthday’s, two christmas’, etc..”(-Serge) This statement needs to be put to rest. Man is not meant to go through divorce and separation. Man is supposed to be with their spouse through death after marriage. As a christian, I believe that the bond between a man and his wife is something eternal. It is not something that you can just leave and not still be attached to. I do not believe in divorce. I have realized that when you are a child of divorce you grow up in 4 different states of minds, two of which can collaborate with each other. “The lack of attention due to the divorce. 2. Too much attention due to the divorce. 3. Growing up in the state of mind that they have to keep people at arms length. 4 And the last one is to feel that they have no love and constantly have to fill that void.” I realized these state of minds when I was in 9th grade and ever since then i have tried watching kids through divorce and separation and see how they cope with it. I started to notice these state of minds because they were state of minds that I had previously lived my life through.
One of my ex’s lives through number’s 1 and 4. Though her parents are not divorced she is adopted and I noticed that through just that she started to live in that state of mind. This also affects your relationships as well. This affects your entire life. It is how you communicate to people. When we were in a relationship I noticed that she dove in right away. She is not the easiest person to be friends with because of the fact that she is always looking for love, she will end up cheating too find love from anybody that is willing to give her love, and to rehash old drama to get more attention which she would then convert to love.

English Twofer Rough Draft
If Seaworld and other aquatic prisons stopped to think about it, they would realize that orca whales being contained in captivities is not just about showboating the animals , but is deeply hurting the animals well being as well. This is something that is not acknowledged in todays world and should be addressed. Something needs to be done about this and it needs to be made more public with what is going on. They are put in these captivities against their will, and are Killer whales (aka orca whales) are the largest of the dolphin family. They are extremely strong predators. They are on average the size of a school bus. They hunt in pods with their family of about 40 whales, so if one of the whales is bad, imagine being hunted by 40 whales. Killer whales hunt other mammals in the ocean such as seals and sea lions. Killer whales tend to live in colder places. Killer whales are animals that are extremely friendly but it is needed to know that any situation with humans involved with killer whales can go south in a split second.
Seaworld damaged the whales immediately from the start. The way they caught them was unacceptable, and sea world keeps in spaces that are way too small for mammals of their size. These spaces are unacceptable. They are not only shoving them into these tiny spaces, but they are also putting more than one animal into these captivities, and they are harming each other as well. When Tilikum was just admitted into sea land, he was kept in a very small container for ⅔’s of his life, and the other ⅓ of his life he was in a show or he was training for the show. This container was 20 feet in length and 30 foot depth water. The whales themselves are on average 20-26 feet long. While he was in the container, he was with several other whales. They would do what is call raking ,when other whales rub their teeth against the skin of one whale, throughout the night and he would come out with scratches and cuts all over his body. He was in Sea Land until he killed Keltie Byrne. Keltie Byrne was an orca whale trainer for sea world. Shortly after the death they closed sea land, and auctioned off the whales. These whales are being driven crazy. They are rebelling. The whales did not do anything to be captured and kept as prisoners in the captivities. They didn’t do anything until kept in captivities. If they were released there would be no controversy.
Conflicting with the name that they were given, killer whales are extremely friendly in the wild. This is true because the There has never been a reported killer whale on a human in the wild. On the contrary, there has been many attacks of trainers in se world and or any other wild life aquatic captivities. Sea world has had so countless numbers of killer whale attacks. Keltie Byrne was attacked in SeaWorld, was killed by Tilikum, a whale who has killed three trainers. A whale who is known for killing. Keltie was walking along side of the pool with Tilikum and two other whales in the pool. Keltie tripped and fell in the pool. Tilikum grabbed her foot and dragged her to the bottom of the tank. He drowned her. Dawn Brancheau died at the hand of Tilikum as well. He scalped her, broke her bones and drowned her. Daniel P. Dukes, a man that broke into SeaWorld at night and went for a late night swim with Tilikum was found dead the next day. Tilikum killed the man over night. He was found with countless injuries leading to his death. This is all from being kept in captivity. They need to be released. It is not healthy for them to be contained in small captivities and they also should be with their own kind. They should be able to stare off into the water and not see any walls. They should see their family and be in their presence.
These killer whales were and still are being driven to psychosis. Killer whales swim an average of 95 miles a day, but if they are in captivities they are unable to. These whales are being kept in these tiny prisons for their entire life of course they are gonna snap. Imagine if a somebody was being kept in a basement for their entire life. Of course they are going try and rebel. It’s the instinct to survive, and just because the killer whales are trying to survive, doesn’t mean that they are terrible animals that are killers. It means that they will try to survive and all of this behavior was all caused by frustration the whale was feeling. The press made these animals out to be stone cold killers when in fact they are quite the opposite. They should be respected and left alone in the wild.
Everything points to Killer whales suffering when they are in captivities. They are caught very cruelly, suffer from injuries when kept in tanks, suffer from other whale attacks, and try to rebel and kill humans out of frustration. They will never live up to their full potential when they are kept in tanks like that. Killer whales are animals with rights and they do not deserve to be kept in facilities.

Skateboarding Bias

Skateboarding Bias Essay
A bias is made against skateboarders today, from past events, planting the thought in people’s mind that skateboarding is for trouble makers. There has always been a bias against skateboarders. There are many different kinds of people all over the globe that have a bias against skateboarding. Police, Security Guards, and many more.
They have been known for being troublemakers. Skateboarding was first invented in the 1950’s. Surfer’s wanted to explore their possibilities. The surfers decided to take it to the streets. “Concrete Surfing” a.k.a “Skateboarding”. The surfers made the board out of taking roller skate wheels and putting them onto a wooden box and riding it through the streets. Skateboarding got its bad name from Dogtown and the Z-boys. Back in the 60’s and 70’s, skateboarder’s used to break into backyard pools. They would shred these pools illegally knowing full well what they were doing. They weren’t thinking clearly but that doesn’t mean that all skater’s are trouble makers from today and from back then as well.
There are many laws against skateboarding all over the world. Love park is one of the most famous skate spots on the east coast. Love park is skated everyday by skateboarders all over, but sadly it is illegal. Skaters are ticketed with a $300 fine and then they have their boards taken. People have been arrested if they aren’t a minor. It is not only a monument in artwork standards, but a monument in skateboarding. In this quote, skaters are protesting to keep love park open to skaters(when it was closed down in 2002). “Before LOVE was officially closed in late April 2002 for the redesign, skateboarders and others organized a protest on April 22, 2002. Dozens of skaters and supporters flooded the park for one last session together before police came and dispersed the skaters and the session. However, before the protest was over, skateboarders and their advocates made numerous statements to the media. Some noted the sad loss of this great skate spot, others pointed out that the loss of skateboarding at LOVE is a scar on the attractiveness and accessibility of Philadelphia to a younger generation” says UHistory.org. This quote is stating clearly that skaters are feeling the loss. They clearly stated to the media that they are feeling neglected. I don’t believe having that last skate session was he most helpful way of convincing the city to allow it but I do think that it helps the community hear about the banning of skateboarding at Love and I think it did spread the word to help support the community of skaters.
Another example of skateboarding being known as thugs is that it is out lawed in San Francisco, California. In the City of San Francisco, Police officers are allowed to arrest skateboarders for skating on Public Property. When I say public property, I mean streets, ledges plazas, parking lots, or anything else you can think of. Police officers will always arrest you if you are riding a skateboard in San Francisco, they will depending on what ever mood they are in, so if you are skating through the streets of San Francisco and a Police officer stops you to give you a warning, don’t provoke him because he can arrest you if you set him off.
Skater’s should be awarded for the amount of effort that they put in. Most skater’s aren’t causing trouble while doing so. At least people are doing something. For kids, at least they are doing something instead of drugs or any other bad thing you can think of. And for older people skating, at least they aren’t just sitting around not doing anything. They are being active and thats all that matters. Much of today’s modern architecture is perfectly made for skateboarders. Skater’s have searched for these architecturally advanced spots.
All around the world, there is tons of police brutality with skaters. All over youtube there are videos. In baltimore there was an instance where a group of skateboarders were skating at the inner harbor. Police officer, Salvator Rivieri, stopped these kids and started verbally harassing them about skateboarding there. Then, the police officer man-handled a 14 year old skateboarder Eric Bush. Officer Rivieri grabs the minor around the neck and throws him on the ground.
There are a lot of parents that are really supportive of their kids. There are professional skateboarders all over the world that all have had supportive parents to help them get somewhere. Their parents helped them achieve their goal of making a living out of skateboarding. And its not only skateboarding, there are filmer's that make a living out of it by simply doing what they love. Torey Pudwill is a professional Skateboarder that rides for Plan B skateboards, DVS shoes, Bones Bearings, venture trucks and has even made his own line of Grip tape for the skateboards just from the help of his parents. “My dad or mom would drive us here (Skatelab Skatepark) after school almost everyday, get our homework done, or not, and just skate”. Another Skater is Nyjah Huston is 19 years old. He has been a professional skater since he was 11 years old. He was in the X-games at the age of 11.“My dad was really controlling and he did want me to skate every single day. I would say he did it in a little bit of a strict way which probably wasn't necessary because, bottom line I loved skateboarding and thats all I wanted to do anyway.” Later on in the same interview he says “If he did happen to call me anytime soon, i would completely accept him because I am thankful for the way he raised me, even thug it was very strict, it was what got me to where I am right now.”
A lot of upperclassmen think that Skateboarding is reckless and a waste of time. They believe
As you have seen, Skater’s are considered bad boy’s. This is a false term. Skater’s have been named this when it is completely the opposite. Skater’s are artist’s. They have a talent. They search out spot’s and are being creative. It is the people surrounding skater’s that attach this false baggage to them. From having a shitty day at work, the law enforcer’s make our’s worse. The butterfly effect. Some skater’s might be thugs, or “gangbangers” but to say that the all of skater’s fits that description is simply ignorant and demoralizing.

What happened? *Try to lift up hands but they are handcuffed to the bed.
Where am I? I think I’m in a hospital. I have no idea who I am and I don’t know how I got here. I’m looking around the room. There’s a tray to the left of his bed which has bloody knives. Tries to sit up
Ugh, my leg.
There’s a nurse. Hey! Where am I? What’s my name?
Hospital? What hospital?...What do you mean, John doe?
Why am I handcuffed to the bed?
The Police?! Lifts knees up to his face while obviously fighting through pain.
What happened to me, what’s wrong with me? Why am I here? He yells with his face still in his knees. No response.
He is so frightened he passes out.
Unngh... Wakes up in throbbing pain. Grunting faintly. Lifts his head slightly to see if anybody is there.
Ugh… His leg is completely slashed. He starts screaming and panicking.
AAAHHH!! UUNNNGHHH!!
He realizes he’s not able to walk on it and he starts panicking. There is blood dripping down his leg.
Hello?!?! Yelling frantically.
What’s that on the floor? Blood? From what? Looks down at hands, the handcuffs are gone. The handcuffs are sitting in the puddle of blood.
What the… Moaning? Recognizes that the moaning is not far from here.
Hello? Is anybody there. No response.
Hello!!! Still no response.
Where is everybody? Yelling furiously.
“God, please help me out here.” Tears filling his eyes
What happened here? What am I supposed to do?!”
Takes a deep breath and is in shock.
Amber! Oh No please no, let her be ok!
Amber was there. I have to get back to her. Oh no. Whimpering. No don’t let anything happen to my baby girl. Don’t let anything happen to me! She has nobody else to go to.
Stay strong John, you have to stay strong John! You have to get back to Amber!
A cell phone rings next to his bed, how could he have missed that.
How did I miss that? He yells in anger, furious with himself. He pauses, not sure wether he should answer it. He answer’s it after 4 rings.
Hello? he answers.
I need help. Please I don’t know where I... he gets cut off.
Tell me this is some sort of sick joke. He replies with a crack in his voice.
How long until the poison kicks in...? 15 minutes? cracking voice.
No, No, No!!! You let her go you sick bastard!!! He bends over and starts sobbing.Felix d'Hermillon Creative Language Essay

English BM Rough Draft
“Repeat after me Alex, ‘you’. Say it with me Alex,” said the therapist for the third time this session.
He repeated that sentence every time after he explained what Alex was doing wrong and how he should fix it. The therapist was a simple man. He was 39 years old, lived in Shepard's bush, just outside of London and made $120,000 a year. His father died 6 years ago. His mother moved in with him a year after he died because she fell down the stairs. He went to school for 6 years to get his medical degree in vocal therapy. This mans name was Winston Howard , named after his great Grandfather. People often times called him Winny.
“You, You, You.... Yooooouuuuu,” they repeated over and over.
“Really suck in those O’s Alex, You.” replied Winny.
“You, You, Yoooouu,” said Alex.
“That was it Alex, now try the whole sentence,” Winny yelps with joy. They were working on “You” for the past 20 minutes.
Alex was not his average customer. Alex turner was the most famous person that he has ever worked with. Alex Turner was the lead singer and guitarist for the arctic monkeys. Of course Winston loved the arctic monkeys with a passion but he hated Alex Turner. Alex Turner was the reason that his father died. Winston several years ago followed the arctic monkeys all across Europe. Winston knew everything about Alex Turner, and that was how he knew that Alex Turner killed his father. Alex Turner had a 1970 Triumph Spitfire. It was in a British Racing Green. It was in perfect condition, until that fatal night. Winny was at one of their concerts. They played at the Rubber Ducky in Central London. Winny’s dad was coming to pick him up. Winny had, quite a bit to drink, but so did Alex Turner. His dad was helping Winny cross the street, he helped him walk to the passenger side. A car comes flying down the road. His dad shut the door and was about to His dad was already at his door about to get in the car. He gets plowed through by the Spitfire. It had been declared a hit and run by those stupid pigs. They would barely investigate the crime, but he had known who it was. He told them over and over “Alex Turner, it was Alex Turner!!!” he sobbed. The pigs went to see his car but there wasn’t a scratch on it.
“Are you mine.” Alex says perfectly.
“That was perfect Alex try singing it now.” he says masking his true tone of voice.
“Are you miiiiiiine” Alex sang.
“That was brilliant Alex” he says as he lied straight through his teeth. The “you” was perfect but he hated Alex. Winny was the only one that knew he had two Spitfires. Winny stalked Alex a while ago, tapped his phone lines and he heard him say that he had two spitfire models with the same license plate and the same serial number.
“Can you sing me the song from the beginning” he grudged. Alex sensed that he had a grudge over something but he couldn’t put his finger on it. He knew that it had to do with him but he had no idea what it was that made Winston so angry.
“I'm a puppet on a string... Are you mine?” Alex sang the song perfectly with his new accent. He had hit all the notes perfectly and perfected his “You’s”. It was at this moment in time that Winny decided that he was going to kill Alex turner. He had to start planning it all out. He had to plan where he was going to do it, how he was going to do it and where to dispose of the body. He knew that he had to wear gloves, and had to be ready to leave the city or even country if the fuzz caught his sent. He knew what he had to do to end Alex Turner.
“Nice work today Alex, thank you so much for coming in. I’ll see you tomorrow at four o’clock, correct. Cheerio.” Winny said.
“Cheerio, see you tomorrow mate.” he replied exactly the way that Winny taught him.
As soon as Winny got home he went straight to his basemsent. He was going to murder Alex Turner tomorrow. His mom yelled down the stairs “Winny, dinners ready.”
“Shut Up Ma’!!!!! I’m doin’ somethin’!!!! Bloody Hell!!!!” He yelled at the top of his lungs.
He went in the next day thinking only of Alex. He had 5 appointments before he saw Alex at 5. He knew that only one of them was going to leave from that office. Alex was his last patient and then Winny would finally have the weight of his fathers death off of his shoulders. His first customer went by extremely slow. It was only an hour and a half but it felt like four hours. Winny was anxious. He was getting sloppy only in his first customer. He kept saying words that were off topic like “Kill” and “Shoot” and “Death”. He spaced out frequently during the sessions. After the first patient, he pulled himself over to the side and got a grip. He went outside to have a smoke and came back a loose and relaxed man, prepared for what he was going to do at 5. Every other patient went by much quicker. All of them were very bland. 3 o’clock, 4 o’clock, next he knew, it was time for him to call Alex into the office.
“Alex... Dr. Howard will see you now.”, the secretary said
“Thank you Elanor. Come with me Alex, shall you?”, said Winny
“Hows it going Doctor” was the last thing that anybody has heard from Alex Turner.

Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?
Its helpful for an artist to see in negative space because then it will enhance his sketching skills.D. Does seeing in negative space enhance drawings, why or why not?
Seeing in negative space does enhance drawings because it helps you focus more on the outline sketch first and then you can focus on the details later.Element Project

Final Perspective Drawing
2. Learning this technique helped me because I am now able to draw perspective and make it look like a real room that has shadowing, depth, and color.
3. If I were to redo this project I would draw the images on every tile.
4. My advice to somebody that has never done one point perspective drawing is that you should not expect it to be perfect. Not in the beginning and not at the end. You are going to do a lot of erasing through out this project.
5. The resource that helped me the most were Mrs. Hull and Kevin Courtney because they both helped me when ever I reached out for their help.
