Children are the future and as such should be treated with the utmost respect and guided with discipline. However this is a difficult task. Children are changing but the methods of which they are dealt with have not. Schools aren’t as stimulating the minds of the youngsters nor are the extra curricular activities provided.
In relatively recent years access to information has rose exponentially. What a child can get from a teacher, a text book, or even his or her parent is only a mouse click away. This can can and has caused many children to develop authority issues. With children knowing more than the people set to teach them there is very little left for them to use to differentiate themselves from adults. They start to see themselves as equals to adults and some times police or other law enforcement officers.
There are many small groups that share similar ideas for better schools, although some for different reasons. All of them are equally important however it would be nice if there was a single figurehead to lead the movement in solidarity.
I chose this topic because it is a widely misunderstood provision of the constitution. What I liked about doing this project was the interview process. It was almost enlightening to hear the thoughts and opinions of other kids my age on the topic of gun laws. However the most interesting occurrence in the interview was people saying they feel safe knowing almost anyone could be carrying a gun at all times. I see this project growing. I feel like this is a topic worth investigating on my own personal time. In the future I plan to interview people well above the age of purchasing a firearm and maybe some owners of shops that sell guns and other weapons. The biggest problem in my plan was timing. I set aside too much time for planning and not enough time for shooting and editing. I was rather upset when I wasn't able to get one of the smaller cameras, which in tern slowed the process further in forcing me to take a few days to capture the interview footage to my computer. However on a relatively good note I was able to get amazing interviews that were very diverse in opinions and backgrounds alike.
The ruling on the curfew law is rather sensitive at the moment Because of the flash mob attack on south street and other heinous acts during the summer, teens are being viewed as violent and sometimes criminal. The nature of the media and news reports of the event caused a form of dehumanization of Young adults. However there was only a small fraction of the teens in the city there partaking in the actions on south street; and although there were extremely awful actions taking place, for the amount of people there there was not a strong percentage of young adults present at the event doing horrible things. It would seem that in their act of highlighting certain portions of the event that teens would be put further down just for having the capability to do such things. In retrospect I can see why the curfew was in acted. What is more troubling is the fact that if you are caught at all you can be arrested and what;s more is the fact that police are given the power to question any one who appears to be under age. This treatment can only be combated by the teens if they carry some form of identification with them when they are going to be out. This is similar in fashion to the treatment of people in Arizona durning their time under the law that allowed police to arrest people who couldn't prove their citizenship. The public has been put in fear of the situation and because of that fear most will see the curfew as a good thing. Most adults if asked will say that there is nothing wrong with the curfew at all. They see it as a way to keep children in order. However there are some more conservative families that believe the government as no right to make laws about how to raise their children.
The bureaucratic process in which we chose was the block party permit application. It is a simple, yet somewhat expensive process in which people who wish to plan and hold a block party must go through. The process only requires two sheets of paperwork and and varying amounts of money depending on the day of the week and the number of streets blocked off.
Our process was rather simple. It only took two days to get everything together and we were able to get everything else edited within the remaining in class time given. On the second class I counted the amount of students in the class and got the signatures of three quarters of them them which was the proportion needed. Beyond that the paperwork was simple and very straight forward.
If I had to change one thing it would be the fact that you have to pay more money of weekdays. I would also make the time needed to reserve the space longer as to give more time for bus routes to be informed. This would in term lower the prices of block parties by a significant amount on weekdays.
RLSD The recreational lands Self defense act that's me Giving the right to bear arms Even in the presence of bear arms Was born in Arkansas Appealing to the masses Give a man a gun and he's sure to have some fun Take the gun away someone's gonna pay.
As the bill names implies. The bill will give citizens the right to carry concealed weapons on property owned by the federal governments. Including, but not limited to, national parks, and land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers. The bill was introduced on September 21, by Senators Jim Webb and John Boozman. The bill it pretty straight forward.
There are many animals in the forest Many men may attest. He is afraid of them more they are of him some protection is needed When warnings are not heeded Death will ensue If a bear is staring down at you.
Although animal attacks are a rare occurrence, the fact that they happen at all is scary enough to prevent a lot of people from visiting national parks. The main pushing force behind this is the protection of the 2nd amendment right to bear arms, and a push to get more people interesting in visitation of national parks.
Come to our park Stay here after dark Plan a camping trip Make some coco Take a sip Relax and have fun After all the hiking's done Should this bill be past Forever the fun shall last
I chose this bill because it was was dealing with allowing citizens to carry weapons on national properties. I felt as though people should be able to protect themselves no matter where they are. Personally I believe all things are avoidable and in the circumstance that one would be attacked by a bear or charged at by a deer, or elk should be able to fire a couple of warning shots, or at the animal, only if it is still hostile.
I did not chose this format. It was chosen for me by my computer. iMovie decided that I had done to many videos in my time at SLA so it crashed. Since I was already working on a sing for another class I just decided to continue the poetic juices. I was able to write the lyrics above fairly quickly. However My house was too noisy to actually record any of it.
As I stated above I lost all my work and had to redo, basically, the entire thing. It was also hard to research information about the bill, and when I would find something it wouldn't make any sense. Sometimes dates wouldn't match up and I would be forced to discard it and move on.
I would find a simpler way to do it. I would get it all done in one shot and actually start early so I could use class time for peer editing.
Its all a blur now honestly. After I lost my work I kinda shut down for a bit. I was simply too upset to try fixing it. So during the research process it being just as bad, and difficult as the the creation of the movie, some of it was shut out as a way to forget it and come up with the song lyrics above.
The process was only hard because of technological failures. In essence from the beginning the project was enjoyable and fairly simple. However as I said before, the second iMovie crashed it all went south and got harder as I was now starting again after the due date had passed.

I participated in a drum circle over the weekend and thought to make my analysis on all the different drums that were present. Some were hand drums and others had sticks and other tools for striking the head of the drum.
A drum is played by striking the head of it with either one's hand, stick or other relatively hard object. On some drums its impossible to change the note however on others, specifically hand drums, the player can place their hand on the open end to distort the waves on the inside and increasing the pitch. Hitting the drum at different distances from the center to the rim also changes the pitch, the center being the lowest and the rim being the highest.
Different drums are shaped differently and thus have different sounds, however the basic design is a cylinder open on one end and covered with an elastic material covering the other. Some drums have strings attached to the elastic head, that when tightened increase the pitch of the sound produced.
While observing and experimenting with all the pitches I was able to make with the drum, I noticed it was similar to the slinky lab we did on Friday. When the drum head was pulled tighter by the strings attached to the side there was less space for the same amount of energy to travel. Similar to the slinky when it was pulled for a long distance and shook the waves seemed long and slow, however when the distance between start to finish was shortened the waves shortened and seemed faster.
