Q4 Globalization Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Globalization - Laufenberg on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 9:12 am
During the fourth quarter of globalization we had to depict the themes of globalization thus far with pictures from our society. The most challenging aspect of this was connecting things back to globalization as a whole. It was hard trying to justify how this interconnects with the outside world. In having this trouble I had to map out the different themes & places I wanted to go. For example the theme security I went to 30th street station where it services a lot of diverse people. My favorite picture out of the entire project is the security picture of the officer & his dog patrolling the station. It shows security at its finest while protecting the good people of Philadelphia and people from other countries. Ultimately globalization is very evident in the city of brotherly love there's an abundance of cultures, religion and much more that are represented in the city. Mostly every corner you look there's adversity on a greater scale.

We Need to Move On...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm
Dear high school,
I've found someone better. Its been a incredible 4 year relationship but, I've grown & moved on. Hopefully you can let me go while I make this next stage in life although I may fall and stumble on my way I know you've helped me get here. I think its best if we stop seeing each other for, like, ever. Ok, see ya in 5 years at the reunion.
Love,
Rae

Thus Far...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 2:19 pm
The end of the school year is approaching so fast these last couple of days are summing up my high school career. Its a very surreal experience

Wednesday my sister & I had a lunch date it was nice. It seems lately we don't hang out that much but its nice when finally our schedules match up to one another.

Storytelling class has become so painfully awkward
that its a car crash slowly happening and you can't turn away from the disaster but stare gawking at the catastrophe.

Extra Credit Assignment

Quarter 4 Benchmark: Study Guide
"Favorite project"

During my senior year in statistics the most memorable benchmark was the last one, which was the study guide. This benchmark is my most favorites due to the fact that it’ll help me in the following year with the endeavors that I’ll be taking on. They study guide applies past math courses to my future thus ultimately helping me and creating a guide throughout the class Math 101.  Since the class entails statistics the math in the guide was based off of stats and the combination of some algebra.  The statistics part consist of the following Probability & Simulations, Chi –Squared, Real number, Logic, Equations, Correlation & Causation, Bi-variate Data and Observational Studies.  I learned various tolls that I once did not comprehend such as the correlation and causation. Once introduced to this term I was still unsure what this actually meant until practice questions and mini quiz I found that Correlation is like domino affect one thing has to affect another to have a correlation or relationship. In having to do the benchmark and applying what I know all comes back to the core values SLA set up inquiry, research, collaboration, presentation and reflection.  I researched my future college and what course I’d be taking and what concepts I’d need to grasp in order to make my study guide. Collaborated with my peers to exchange some ideas to help my Q4B with the math tools needed for representation. Presentation I did I n a regular word doc instead of any other applications because I wanted the raw math to be displayed instead of a picture with some fragments a clear explanation was needed. Reflection was overall me just looking at my work with some feedback in my meeting with Thompson and actually looking over what I’ve done thoughtfully in my high school career.

Catching some cover....

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:52 pm
While catching cover from the rain underneath the Ross store on 8th st I stood next to these two guys who was having the funniest convo. So these guys were talking about the rain right but like the speech was kinda slow & fragmented.

1st guy "Man this rain is killing me
2nd guy " I know (long ass pause) man
1st guy "I wish girls wore white shirts when it rained"

I swore it took them 10minutes to say this it was hilarious so I looked at my phone to act like I got a text message because I didn't want tto laugh in there face.

So Far...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 8:48 pm
Today was a mellow day started off bad but ended on a good note. I guess it didn't start off that bad since I woke up this morning to have another day on this earth but, after that it sorta went down hill...I woke early this morning to prove to my friends that I can make it someplace on time & not be an hour or more late. While in the mist of getting dressed I stepped out on the porch to check the weather & shut the door behind me so my dog won't run out while doing that I locked myself out. Its raining on & off locked out no ones home & I have to wait for an hour to get back in thus making myself an hour late & having to rush to the school to hand my note in. After that I met up with friends & had a great girls day with except of Cody. I did some last minute shopping but didn't bug anything & need to push it all tomorrow. At this moment I need some last minute determination to get my work done in the last stretch of my high school career. I need to really bake on my Capstone & benchmark for Caitlin this is really killing me I'm so unmotivated.

Key Word Maybe

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 4:39 pm
I have a shit load of work ahead of me and undetermined to get any done. I keep saying that I'll do something but can't force myself to acquire a sentence let alone open an assignment. Its funny how when your at the end of your high school career you have no desire to do shit but enjoy the ride. Surprisingly I'm not failing any class & receiving higher then a D. Oh well back to my mundane sunday with one tree hill all day maybe i'll muster up enough enegery to get something done key word maybe.

First you need to know how to french braid IDK but, white girls love a french braid. You need to have these skill down & be ready for a "Hey gurl can you french my hair"

Second be ready if your a minority to have you named shorted & doubled

I'm so glad that I woke up another day & I'm extremely blessed. I put in my college & housing deposit so that's a weight off my shoulder. My prom dress was shipped out today so I'll get it someday early next week. College is taken care & Prom is sorta done. I need to upgrade my winter clothing because Minnesota gets cold as shit, I still need prom accessories. After I get my dress try that bad boy on then I'll purchase my shoes I may then can order it offline if I have time. I   still need a passport for Costa Rica this summer so much to do so little time.

Morning Bus

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 1:59 pm
Everyday since school begun I've taken the same bus at the same time give or take a few days. In staying in this pattern of life I've come to see regular bus goers. There's this guy that takes the bus mostly all week hes missing an arm but seems really cool. Every time he gets on the bus he uses his nub & hand to text it's really fascinating. He looks like a generic white guy but just so happens that his right arm is missing thus leaving a nub. From my observations hes married thanks to the silver band that's placed on his ring finger. Mostly all the time I see him he receives a text on the 7 block radius of his bus duration. I believe its his wife because one day  I looked over his shoulder to see a naughty text I'm way too nosy.  Other then that hes sensible due to the same pair of shoes he wears & on occasion I'll see him in flip flops. He shops at trader joes when I catch the late bus hes there getting his grocery on.

Next Stage In Life

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 3:29 pm
Its crazy how every step we make in life we have to start at the bottom like real shit. Your born so from there you gotta morph into your own person which is a killer. Then you have elementary school so your moving up from there once you hit 4th grade BAM middle school so you gotta start from 5th grade then High School you gotta start from 9th grade, College is just a whole other topic you don't wanna start. Basically you have to keep starting from the bottom & working your way up. Life is actually bitch in that aspect boy so your working your whole life in different stages of the shitty bottom.

*The Read say Killer BAM Bitch Shitty sorta funny.

Q3 Benchmark

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Art - Senior Art - Hull on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2:41 pm
During the 3rd quarter we were assigned various drawing assignments. In this time frame we had to go from charcoal pencil drawing to large scale drawings. I feel the large scale drawing was challenging because instead of every line being small they had to be enlarge which changed the format of everything. In having a larger scale the details have to be exact in order to capture the image to look similar. The portrait of myself & kim was also very challenging because I had the hard task of drawing what I thought I saw instead of what was there. Overall the 3rd quarter was full of high/low points that made me become a better artist.

A&A; Q3 Globalization Benchmark

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Globalization - Laufenberg on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Here Is My Benchmark

Reflection

During the 3rd quarter benchmark I deiced to do Austria & Australia because I thought the double A

would be clever. Coming into this I wasn't too familiar with these two countries besides fun facts so I

googled my butt off. The CIA factbook came in handy with getting an overview of different categories

of the countries.  Then I'd go in further on different subtopic of the main topic so I could elaborate

more on it and offer more info.  The climate change was actually surprisingly easy to gather it

straightforward info. Environemntal demage was hard because then you had to go into the country

dissect it and it was a pain. Also actually ratting it was hard because I didn't want to be too easy on

it then I forgot is 10 was great & 0 was bad. I would love to have done a video instead of pages

but I'm not that artistic enough to convey a good imove presentation.  I'm kinda nervous about the

whole plagiarizing thing so no I'm gonna go check to cover my butt.

The Weekend...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 1:38 pm
Friday
On Friday my sister & I decided to stay in and do the whole pizza/movie thing. It was mellow since we haven't really hung out that much due to the fact we both been busy.
Saturday
Saturday I couldn't sleep in which sucked so I did the whole sex and the city morning with my coffee. Then my sister & I did a sister day with manicure/pedicures. It was fun with some lunch & drinks. Oh I also got a cute bracelet at H&M I like it so much that I'm getting leeann & dyamond one.

Sunday
Sunday I missed church because I had to help my dad clean because my family is in town staying at my house. They come back today after there mini road trip with my mommy. It was fun hung out did some father/daughter bonding. During breakfast we did the cofffee and church on tv deal. He also made biscuits like every Sunday and like always he uses butter & jam.  Today I hide the jam so for 10minutes he looked for it while I laughed then gave it to him he was a little annoyed. SO now I sit here at 1:43pm with nothing to do hmm maybe i'll do a benchmark.

I moved from a D to a C in STATS which is epic 10 more points till I'm a B. After school I hung out with Dyamond (best friend) did some bonding then a basketball with her mom. It was pretty hoob like grannies go in when there grandson is playing.

So today was a pretty average day nothing super exciting happening just chill overall.

In the morning I brought a cup of coffee & Greek yogurt while in line this guy ahead of me I assume had OCD because he kept correcting the unaligned candy.

This was an extremely good sale on diapers at 3 CVS so that was pretty epic got a pack for my friend Trav.

While on the EL with Oliver it was pretty chill hanging with my best friend made me gonna miss him even more while in college

Overall I'm just blessed to have another day to life this thing we call life.

I think I use the term friend or best friend to loosely. I doubt everyone is your friend but its extremely easy to refer to a person as a friend. I feel if I'm crying in the middle of the night all those contacts in my cell phone dwindle down to like 5 people and I'm just being nice. Life gets to critical man like shit really happens oh well...

i went to sleep way to early which threw off my sleeping pattern & the reason I'm up this time instead of cozy in the bed sleep. It actually is a good thing since I didn't do any homework so need i'm doing homework with tea. I'm excited about this tea its amazing like liquid goodness "peppermint tea" is a must have. I'm still waiting for Wagner to reply back which is so obnoxious come on people. There's nothing on tv at this time except porn which sucks so I guess music channel here I come. I finally saw the movie "Love & other Drugs" it came  OnDemand its an extremely good movie a little too much at times but good nonetheless. Well I'm gonna finish up my homework & then hopefully I'll get some more sleep.

Next Step In Life...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 7:36 pm
Taking the next stage in life is saddening but it has to be in order growth. They'll always be changing around us and we can't be stuck in our same stage never wanting to move on. I sometimes forget that life's full of change and you have to embrace it and yes you'll be sad but ultimately you'll grow. I'm so blessed that I can say I grew from what I use to be and my mentality. To have come from my me stage to my need to fit in stage to my complete stage is extraordinary.I'm extremely optimistic about the future at least I'll be there ready to open the door.

Life...

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 10:07 pm
It's funny how life's events and simple conversation affect your daily life. A two minute conversation or a fragment goes a long way as it weaves itself through someones daily routine making it evident as you live. I think about how every second you breath and do simple things those things are your defining moment those things make you who you are. This is sort a stream of consciousness thoughts bundled up together it's surreal. I guess life's surreal shit just gets toi critical.

5 Picture Story....Fire

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 6:51 pm
She always wondered where her life may lead as a young girl never knowing  what she wanted was right in front of her. As time went on she became intent on never fully knowing what her future had to offer and she accepted that. She accepted that she was ordinary a little less the average and bleak like her tan bedroom walls, she was fine with that. As others came into them she did not but remained the little girl sitting on the swing alone. All throughout middle school she was always the one sitting alone passing the time with literature because to her that was her friend her escape those grand Arthurs understood.  The Mark Twains and people of that nature comprehended what she went through understood that a simple girl like her felt the world pass her on. When high school presented itself in her life she walked the high school hallways as a ghost to timid to share her voice and too shy for anyone to acknowledge her. There she became friends with Maya Angelou and the Emily Dickinson’s of the world. Though the authors may of changed she didn’t just advanced her reading material. Still after so long she pondered of her purpose in the world never fully ok with the not living she now didn’t accept that she waited on the sidelines of life. She hated that she had no friends but authors with exceptional lives with power/money and most of all notoriety.   As she grew more and more unhappy she banished those thoughts not knowing who she was but bitter wasn’t one of them allowing her to see a little about whom the girl was. She laughed that still at the age of teenager she still saw herself as a girl not yet a teenager but a little girl. She accepted everything day after day she walked around and day after day she sat alone in the class while peers joked around and teachers called on students oblivious to the fact of her existence. She accepted it and she learned that her day will come and when it dose she would no longer sit one the sideline but, it will be her turn to live. No longer would she ponder the unknown but be ready to grab her life by the horns and live. One week her life would be forevermore changed and never the same this week would be her defining moment. This week was the game where nothing else mattered the few second on the clock where she had to make the shoot win or loose black or white no in-between. That week she became an official women always the late bloomer but she slowly but surely came into her self centimeter by centimeter. She was still the timid little girl who didn't share her voice but she walked a little bolder with her head slightly upright. A day after her new found strength the next defining moment would take place her call her purpose would present herself. First of all to understand this you would have to know she was very observant quiet but very intuitive in her surroundings. In the middle of the day she sat in class while others joked and were to busy with there lives she sat with her book. As she read she smelled something funny a scent of hotness. Not familiar at first with it she left the book open and wondered in the halls to see what it was. A few flights up she saw what that the smell was a fire which grew in size. She rushed to her class & yelled on the way there while no one paying her no mind. She rushed in the room in a frenzy trying to get everyone to safety but no one even noticed in a quick thought she pulled the fire alarm making everyone gather there belonging to the designated exit.  When she saw them moving out she followed them while everyone consumed with there own lives she heard a yell for help making her turn around to help once again. Someone was locked in the elevator thinking it was a false alarm with aghast of inner strength this became her defining moment the point where she came into herself. She knew what her future was but to help and save a life in a calm voice she reassured her fellow peer and began pressing the emergency exit and with luck it opened but then closed. Uable to keep it opened herself she ran and got the fire extinguisher and pressed the button once more making it open but instead of closing again jammed the extinguisher in the opening setting the peer free. Now the smoke filled her lungs and her surroundings with that last of hope fail to the ground and knew she accepted no none knew her or acknowledged her because she saved a life and her purpose was fulfilled.  As she closed her eyes she fail into a deep sleep that she would never leave. In the upcoming days there was talk about the student who saved there lives and wondered why they haven’t known her.

I Hate Mondays....Rant

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 8:27 pm
I have no idea what to write about that's appropriate to post on my daily story therefore I have nothing but, blankness which makes me shit out of luck. I wonder if its ok to use profanity in these because I've been cursing like a sailor well not really just been dropping the F & S word which is commonly used nowadays which doesn't phase the American people. When I woke up this morning my dad had a card, box of chocolates & some vickki secret lip balm hes an awesome dad he never fails with the holidays. I don't like Monday's they bum me out it means school starts & the weekend is over. The beginning of the sentence is totally from that song by boomtown rats was really big in the early 80s fun fact. I totally wish I was a teenager in the 80s it would have been epic like i'd be a kid in the candy store the music, the hair & the clothes can you say LEGIT..So I hate to stereotype but this summer all the white preppy girls would say that making me hate that word but then loved it again  when school began or I guess toward the end of the summer......huh I guess I'm done this is my story well I guess rant Enjoy!!!

I'll be the first to admit I have no sense of direction at all and i'm ok with that. Therefore when I need to go somewhere I Google map, it's my own personal survival tool. Today I was going to North Wales, Pa I goggled map like a champ so that I'll know where to go even going as far as writing don't go on the turnpike. While I follow the accurate neatly printed directions I'm lost and got on the turnpike $1.45 is the cost of my mistake and being 20 minutes late for my Costa Rica meeting.

Time of 2011 (250 Word Sentence)

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Storytelling - Chase on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 4:20 pm

In the time of 2011, where coffee is god, where 80s/retro music reinvent’s the style of spring and fall with bulky sweaters and no care attitude that takes over the airways with “fight the power of the prepster “ defining the American youth, where v necks and large words get used such as cultivate, Ablutophobia & Haussmannize are accompanied with sly insults making the normal kid say “what!” teenagers blow up the population with condescending phrases therefore making assholes born and no more traces of friendliness available in the mellow pastime of the “Cookie cutter lifestyle”, where the an average sixteen year old can respond on the changing fashions of Monet with a French dialect while cheap coffee is being sipped in the mouth of the future, where in any other circumstances a child would be worried about the latest movie but, no now time has changed; Asshole have taken over the population, where smoking a cigarette and chi tea plus not going green a stigma of pure disgrace young innocent teenage minds has morphed into the 2011 frame here I stand here eighteen years of life having a large grasp on the person I am today and where I want to be instead of frantically running around like a chicken with my head cut off I’d regained my own internal being.

Me: That's a really spiffy sweater.
Substitute: Thanks! My mom made it for me.
Me: Aw that's great. Does she still make them?
Substitute: No. She is barely living. Shes got alzheimer's. Shes also blind in stuff. Not in good shape.
Me: Damn that's fucked up.
Substitute: (Retells a story) Yeah. She used to make everyone sweaters for Christmas. It would take her a whole year to make them all. I was always the bachelor, so I always got the good ones. Haha. I remember I was at the bar one time and a women came up to me and said "I'll come home with you if you give me that sweater."
Me: Well did you give it to her?!
Substitute: Hell no! I loved that sweater. There was no way she was getting it.

Weekly Drawings

January 17-21,2011

During the week of 17-21 we were assigned a challenging but creative way to make a realistic model of your hand. In those few days we had to construct a model of our hand in various ways may it be using shapes or lines the main goal was to get a hand done.

January 31- February 4, 2011

In this week we had to enlarge our self portarit to a bigger scale streching what we thought we saw to what was actually right there. In this week my whole comfortable mind frame to shattered & pushed to the next level in this self portrait.

Q2 Art Benchmark

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Art - Senior Art - Hull on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 8:01 am

During the 2and quarter of art was the most challenging of the two semesters so far. In

the first quarter I had a clear objection and executed it well. But in going into this quarter I

had no idea what to do or where to begin. I started off with the journal to pinpoint my ideas

For my senior piece but had a string of uncertainties and unclear thoughts. In establishing I

had no idea I thought I do a complex of variations of art and see where that would take me.

With camera in hand I began taking picture after picture to find some inspiration. In taking

photos I found it and learned some Photoshop tutorials to help enhance my artwork. After

several tutorials and directions later I transformed the photos to the best of its pixels. Then

from there I transformed a photo into canvas to use model paint to enhance the texture.

This quarter I had no idea what to do in not knowing that I knew exactly what to do and

made variations of art that took me to a whole new height.

Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilarie Theory

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Science and Society - Best on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 1:50 pm

Q1 Science In Society Benchmark

“Evolution Blog Post”

Question:  How is Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire theories impact the era at the time and paved the way for future evolutionist?

Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilarie once said “Nature ... tends to repeat the same organs in the same number and in the same relations, and varies to infinity only their form. In accordance with this principle I shall have to draw my conclusions, in the determining the bones of the fish's skull, not from a consideration of their form, but from a consideration of their connections.”

Sanit-Hailarie derived this quotes from his theory on animals sharing the same characteristics regardless of an animals origin. He made several comparisons with animal’s connection opposed to their connection to one another.

Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire a profound French naturalist created the principle unity of composition. In 1772 Etienne came into this world and impacted forevermore the way we look at the modification of animals overtime.  The Herbet Spencer, Darwin, Patrick Mathew and many more wouldn’t have based there theories on the evolution of life if he didn’t pave they way.

Etienne took over the early 1800s with his theory then later Darwin evolved his theory to conclude natural selection many decades later. In giving him full credit is ignoring his early influence Etienne Geoffroy Saint-Haire who was his professor.

The concept of an animal forming the same elements sparked a controversial impact in the 1800s. In actually believing that animals shared the same features baffled the unknowing scientific world. Etienne friend Curve heated over large misconceptions that lead to there ending friendship.

R.Robinson Q1 Benchmark

Posted by Ralen Robinson in Art - Senior Art - Hull on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Bottle Cap Poster

During the beginning of my first quarter senior art class we had to make a poster on plastic bottles not being recycled. In doing this the theme of plastic bottle became the forefront of our artwork. In seeing an artist take a horrific reality of large masses of plastic caps being thrown into the water made our idea's become for awareness. In taking such a simple cap that would be discarded and allowing it to become an amazing piece of art set the tone for what we would have to convey in a poster. In making posters I decided to focus on caps not being able to recycle and society unknowingly spelling there doom.

Benchmark: Tye Dyded T-shirt
In deciding on what to do with my artwork wasn't an easy decision. I wasn't sure how to convey the theme into an appropriate piece. So after some heavy debate I thought I'd do tye dye. In doing tye dye I didn't think it was art but, then realized art is a like a straight line there's no end to what art could be.
After coming to that conclusion the sky was the limit. I decided to have the shirts mean more then just colorful array of lines. In having the meaning stand for a message was my big idea. Coming into this experience I was totally blinded so after some heavy youtubing and tutorials gained me a new tool. I became a beast at tye dying which allowed for my artwork to prosper.
I'm excited I learned this tool but wish I would experiment on press numbers. In having the mail focus the tye dye then I could go more in-depth with my message instead of skinning the surface.  Overall I'm happy with my finish piece and all the different tools gained in thinking outside the box with t-shirts.
