Simple Machines

There are also some really good mechanical advantage calculators that give the formula for how certain machines' mechanical advantage is calculated.

Evolution Review

Posted by Chelsea Smith in Physics - Echols on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 12:27 pm

Evolution is all about "survival of the fitness." The organisms that  begin to adapt to their surrounding and change over time are the ones that continue to survive. The ones that don't adapt or change are the ones that die off. Evolution is the reason why change happens, it causes a species to change or else it will be destroyed.

There is no actual research on Evolution it is mostly observations because it is a highly observational science. All the proof stems from seeing evolutionary change over time in these creatures.

Visual Evidence of Evolution

Fossils are the main evidence of The Theory of Evolution because researchers are able to look far back in time and not only see the difference between creatures now and then but also see how they changed over time and figure out why they had to change over time.

Embryology is the study of embryos, and in embryos scientist are able to fine evolutionary change.

The sequences in DNA are all different but in certain species the similarities can be found and certain DNA is changed around depending on the habitat so that the species can survive.

Similarities in the physical aspects of a creature is the most common thing to look at when studying the theory and is in fact how Darwin came up with the theory. This also works with the insides of creatures and how they work and where they are placed.

Probable question topics

The PSSA will most likely ask about natural selection and why these creatures change.

“Survival of the Fittest”

Physical differences.

Why are they physically different?

Pictures below:
In the first two pictures, it is showing the difference in the two fishes. These fishes are highlighting the changes that happened during evolution.

The third picture is a common known picture, and it shows the common belief that monkeys are an early form of humans, and humans came from monkeys.

The fourth picture is showing the evolution of the human skull over time.

The fifth picture is of Charles Darwin, the founder of the theory of evolution.
