Cindy's Home Network

Posted by Cindy Nguyen in Technology - Freshman · Hull · d2 Band on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 9:28 pm

How my Home Network or how all of the devices on the Internet connection is would be, first all of the internet materials is at my house. Next, we attach the bottom surface for the modem/router to stand up. Then, we plugged in a wire from the modem to the ont box and the ont box is plugged into the wall. After the ont box is on and the modem green lights blink and stayed on, that means we have the internet now. So we get the internet username and the password from the modem and type it from the wifi section to get the internet acess to our devices.

What I learned is that for the past few years, I had never know what is the white box called until I found out this year, it is called the ont box.

I would tell the other people that the internet I’m using which is Verizon is a good use and fast internet. It’s also cheaper than the old internet I used to have at home.

  • Explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection.                                 The devices on my internet connection include my phone and my computer.
  • Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned.                                                                  What I learned about the network is that everything is connected to another, wifi doesn't just exist, it comes from somewhere.
  • What would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?                       I would tell other people that they should be careful in choosing for a provider because a lot of providers can be sneaky. A person should research before choosing.

. So my connection comes from the internet to the router which is  ( Verizon ) to WIFI media selective .then the internet source to the tvs and next devices ( phones ) , computers ,ipad and also the bath connection is good .
. What was interesting was that all of this stuff comes from such a small thing but it's so much more . I don't know what to tell that all of the things they use all come from the same source .

explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. On my home network I have my iPhone, my mom’s iPhone and my sister’s iPhone. I also have my school laptop and my mom’s laptop. And finally we have a shared desktop computer hooked up to the network. reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned. I learned some really interesting things about my network like how everything we search is put through our router before it loads on our devices I thought that was super cool. what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network? I would tell people that it is good to look far into what type of network you have and what will work best for your household and setup.

-Explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. My Local Area Network has many devices connected to it and different wires connected to it. All of the devices that are on my internet connection are, my ipad, computers, phones, TV, and printer.

-Reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if not write about what you learned. What I learned about networks is that, an router is the central device of a home network into which you can plug one end of a network cable. Also, a modem is a device that bridges the Internet connection from a service provider to a computer or to a router, making the Internet available to consumers. Last but not least I also learned a modem is supplied by your ISP. I had an OMG moment when I found out that Wi-Fi and Internet were two different things, OMG.

-What would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network? That A router acts a central point of contact between every device on your network, and the Internet connection provided by your modem. Also, the Internet is a network of networks. Your home network, if connected to the Internet, forms one small part of the entire Internet.

Shaheed's home network

My L.A.N. network is connected to my router which is provided by Xfinity. My router gets internet from the world wide web. Since my internet is wireless, the phones, computers, and the xbox one are connected to the router and gets internet from it. Connected to the router is the cable box with an ethernet cable. An ethernet cable connects the cable box and the smart tv. Bluetooth devices are connected to the phones, tv, and computers. I never realized that everything in my house is connected to a single router. What I would tell others about their home network, is to know what's connected. You never know when a hacker can ruin your life.

My Home Network

I learned that one modem gives connection to all my devices in my home.  My modem is a phone jack and we always have a phone number.  The wifi gives connection to most of the things in my home.  I also learned that the placement of the modem doesn't give me good signal in my room because it doesn't travel through concrete walls very much.  My modem is a dull band modem, 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz.  I also didn't know that the coaxial cable gives my modem a signal and converts it to internet.

  • explain your L.A.N. Local Area Network - all the devices on your internet connection. I have numerous things connected to my internet connection such as 3 smartphones, 2 laptops, 2 smart t.v's, air purifier, cable box, and roku device #2.
  • reflect on what you learned about networks, did you have an OMG moment that you learned something new and interesting? if now write about what you learned. I absolutely did have an omg moment. I had a handful but the one that really made my wheels spin was that if I use someone's wifi that they can actually see what I search! I searched how to make my mean family member feel comfortable, this means my cousins saw this! that's why they were asking all of those questions, lol.
  • what would you tell other people that they need to know about having an ISP/Home network?  BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SEARCH WHERE YOU SEARCH!
