Abstract:
Throughout the years in SLA, I have been shadowing major
artist and doing a lot of free music performances and free videography for
people. Dying Breed was a positive movement we started which sets in the areas
of Philadelphia, and Delaware. What we focused on was creating music, doing
videos, and contributing to community events. I choose to make a promo of the
video until the video was promoting crazily and then I would create a release
date and see how much promoting actually helped. I never got to actually work
on a video project on my own and be a director of it and keep everything
original to my expertise, and this is my chance to do that. This project is
more then just a music video for me, it will teach me a lot of material I would
need to become better in the future. Such as being a better director and
becoming more comfortable in front of the camera.

1) http://www.mademan.com/mm/how-direct-movie.html
This source is effective in providing me with information on
how to be prepared to direct a film and not follow common mistakes. Looking
over this post I learned hat making a film starts off with making a good theme
that would go with what I like. I think that this will come more handy for me
because I can’t have a sad song play on happy and bright footage, it just would
work right. Even though this source isn’t much but tips, it is in fact helpful
considering I never really did anything as such before.
2) http://lightsfilmschool.com/blog/how-to-shoot-a-music-video/37/
This source is effective in providing me with information on
creating a music video and a lot of tips on how it should be. Looking over this article I learned that the
song goes first when creating a music video. That everything has to be based on
the song no matter how much you want that to change. This article really gave
me a good step-by-step process on how making a music video should be. This will
really be helpful for me when I start filming and get stuck and not know what
to do next. It’s a really good preparation article for me, as I will need it
before I start creating this music video.
3) http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may10/articles/makingmovies.htm
This source is really effective in providing me with
information that I need. It talks about the start to finish process that I
would be going through and how I should touch upon doing so. Of course music
videos starts with the song first, then comes the video based on the song. This
article told me about everything I need to get this job done and done well.
There was a lot of information about the minimum needs which is what I needed
considering I don’t have a lot of professional equipment to get this done.
4) http://socialtimes.com/get-more-youtube-views_b43153
This source is really effective because I want my video to
be great and amazing, and what’s creating a great and amazing video if not many
people will watch it. It tells me a lot about ways to get your YouTube video
out there, which will be my website of choice. It lets me know that I have to
be able to create a video that people can relate to and a song so they can get
attached to it more. Also it tells me ways of promoting and ways that people
can run across the video easier.
5) http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/final_cut_pro_x_the_good_the_bad_and_the_ugly.html
This source is reliable because it gave me the idea of using
Final Cut Pro X to edit my video. Know I could have used much other software to
make this video, but this article convinced me that this would be my choice. Comparing
this to software’s such as iMovie and Sony Vegas pro, this was the best fit for
my knowledge and me. This article told me the good and bad things about Final
Cut Pro X and most of the bad things are just basics things I can easily
ignore, which is great for me because I can always work around the cons.
6) http://www.lafcpug.org/Tutorials/basic_fcpx_tipstricks_10.1.html
This source is really effective for me because I have never
used Final Cut Pro X before, only the older versions, and I know its really
similar but I don’t know a lot of the shortcuts since it is a updated version.
This article gives me the ability to learn more about the shortcuts and new
cool things I can do with Final Cut Pro X that I never knew about.
7) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1OTWCd40bc
This source is really effective for me because “The Weeknd”
is really going to be my inspiration through out this whole process. I like the
idea of a dark video theme because it creates more of a art piece. The way this
video was directed felt amazing to me. Its simple but at the same time its not.
The video of is simple but the song makes it not simple, and I like that
because it makes me feel like I’m looking through a photo book as the song
plays in the background.
8) http://kimlajoie.wordpress.com/2011/03/21/dont-make-good-music-make-amazing-music/
This source is really effective for me because it tells me
more about the musical side to a music video, you can’t have an amazing video
with a horrible song, it just doesn’t work. This article told me about what
should be said in a song and what shouldn’t. Know even though I have been
writing for a couple of years, I still get sidetracked easily and start to lose
the message of the song in my lyrics. This will help me by reminded me my
purpose of writing this song and creating it to how I want it.
9) http://www.musicthinktank.com/blog/11-reasons-why-your-music-self-promotion-isnt-working.html
This source is really effective for me because it tells me
about the reason why people wouldn’t want to look at my music video and gave it
a chance. It tells me what the viewers want to see, and since this video is
only going to be shown on the internet, people on the internet only look for
certain things. If that is not given to them they would care less about the
video. It also tells me that I have to make the video appealing. I have to know
what people want to see, not what I want to put out.
10) http://www.videomaker.com/article/7980-light-source-in-the-mood-creating-mood-with-light
This source is effective for me because it tells me how to
create the mood of the video. It tells me how to not have people laugh and be
happy about the video when its supposed to be sad. Lighting is one of the effective
ways to do that, but I can’t just put a light anywhere and expect it to matter.
I have to utilize lighting to my advantage to make my video duskier. Lighting
matters a lot when it comes to mood and this article tells me how I can use it
to my advantage into create the perfect mood for my video.
