KaBoni Bailey Capstone

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in Capstone - Thompson - Wed on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:43 pm
The world would go crazy without music, and would become a centerfold of straightjackets. My love for music is unkempt, being as though it's gotten me through a majority of harsh times and has never failed to leave my side. For my Capstone, I decided to give back to music by making it (Also showing the early process's of my production career). Through this process, since November of 2014, I've had a flirtatious relationship with music production, giving it attention on-and-off depending on what it looked like to me that day; resulting in many unfinished (Drafted) projects, and time well spent. Throughout this Generic EP, I wanted to regurgitate what i've been fed in my life, on no set scale. Any artistry passes on the aura of it's owner, and I wish to portray myself as best as possible given the time being.

Mixing and mastering is an essential when It comes to music production. The fine tuning and quality of music is based off of the engeneers (for the most part), mixing and mastering skills. This tool usually takes a good deal of time to spring about proficiently, and knowing that I've taken it upon myself to learn, and at the least, comprehend the main circuits of Mixing and Mastering.

"You only go as far as you know" Taking knowledge and all possible options of realization into consideration, this site was epic in the formation of my perception as time elapsed. We are what we eat, as they say, and that goes for brain food as well, and everything transfixed on altering my timeline, will affect my musics timeline, as it has with every artist before me.

I grew myself up on hip hop. Boom bap to be specific, and knowing/understanding the roots to the music that shaped me and my generation (and the one before us) has a large deal to do with wanting to know myself as a whole. I do not know the whole picture of myself, and that viewpoint is not mine to get, so I accept that, but nothing plays too far from it's roots, no matter the differences.

One of the future (sooner than later) goals is to create a studio in the basement I room in. An in-house studio, a but good quality in-house studio. This musical feed is an escape... a route.... a way out of the past tense and into a better future for my unborn. This website aided me in converting my thoughts to more concreted beliefs, and a better realization of what steps I wanted to take first.

Q1BM. Book Review – Artemis Fowl [ & series]

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in English 3 - Rami - D on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 9:35 pm

Book Review – Artemis Fowl (series)

KaBoni Bailey

Author: Eion Colfier

There so often comes a book series that you can glue your eyes to and read over and over again. In my experience of the many books I’ve read, the Artemis Fowl books are definitely on my top ten lists of best book series. Given the witty banter, high intelligence and focus that this book emits; it’s simple to say, ‘give it a read’. Weather it’s from the point of Artemis’s Butler, who happens to be one of the worlds most dangerous bodyguards, or from Captain Holly Short’s (A fairy who trifles with Artemis and his schemes) point of view, you will always get a great third-person understanding of the story. As well, Eion Colfier’s style changes depending on the main character of the chapter/section; when using Butler as his center piece, he tends to be more aggressive and specified on action, when on the other hand, writing about Artemis’ situations seems to be more theological and intrusive to the mind. It leaves you questioning his intentions and wanting to read to the next page.

Adults will even fall captive to the fictional inclusion of Fairies and their battle to remain hidden from the Mud Men (Humans). Taking it from there, the story all begins when a teenage kid decides to kidnap a fairy for buttloads of gold in order to fund an expedition to find his father, who has been missing for several years. Some would compare this book to The arm, the eye and the ear by (Search author), or The amulet of Samarkand by (Search book/author [Nathaniel]); both of these books presents a writing style not generally known and/or understood by people who read regular book after regular book.

D’arvit!, a expression that the fairies use to designate a censored cuss word. Eion Colfier uses this word perfectly, as no one knows what it means in mud men language, yet we, the readers, know that it is bad enough word to not be deciphered by the readers. Showing up more than several times in Artemis Fowl, in stressful situations, this word is one that is used precise enough to give the hint, something big is going on, or is about to happen.

It may seem as though this book is prefect and would eliminate every other book made, but like all books, there are some flaws. Because these books are so intellectually simple yet complex, there may be the need to re-read pages, even chapters to understand a specific action and/or concept in the book. When I first read the books, multiple times I had to go back and re-read up to two chapters of what I previously read to understand the parts of the climax. Along with that, small details that most wouldn’t pay attention to are very important for a majority of the books. Seeing as though Artemis is a mentalist and likes to toy with his unknown subjects, it is somewhat understandable that his books makes the reader go deeper into their frontal lobe for comprehension, but sometimes, if not most times it is unnecessary to confuse your reader to the point of frustration (I’ve been their before).

As you can tell, these books have their ups and downs, more ups than downs but some downs non-the less. Which is expected of any author, for an author with no errors isn’t an author at all.

Eion Colfier, the author of the bestselling Artemis Fowl series published book number one on April first, 2003; which slowly but surely became his best seller. This 316 page paperback anthology is still, in 2013, a force to be reckoned with. Considering the mix of genre’s that reside in the book, ranging from Sci-fi to young adult to fantasy, Artemis fowl has many features that leave it impeccable to the publication world and young minds alike. Yet, as well with anything else in this world, it’s not a perfect piece of writing, but everything that you expect in a good book is present in Artemis fowl; cleverness, strategy, action and great emotion. Whatever flaws may be present in this book, it still does not affect the overall theme of the book and objective: to give the reader a good read.

How Does writing help you connect?

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in English 3 - Rami - D on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2:09 pm
Writing helps me connect to the ... inner me, if that makes sense. It's like, when i write, i lose the outer part to myself and become indulged with the art of writing; like a second brain. The same goes for poetry: I get into modes where writing becomes my aura everything. Writing helps me connect to memories as well. For example, I was trying to remember the name of a book, so I wrote out a past memory of me cleaning my bookshelf and BOOM, I remembered the name of the book.

Humanities Final Portfolio 2013

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in English 2 - Block on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 1:28 pm

In the beginning, God created Heaven and Earth. Then, he made a bunch of other stuff that shaped who we are today. And once he made the first human, he incorporated morals and knowledge into the human. Over the eons of generations of humans born into this world, these two important qualities have wilted and died just as old plants do. On the aspect of life, there are certain groups of people that maintain and understand these two core values, and puts them into personal perspective. When this years English class first started, I was … naive to the world and its issues but more of a subliminal ‘idgaf’ type attitude. But as the year progressed, and we began to learn about the more current issues made by our hierarchy; I realized that past events shaped today’s world in terrible ways[1] : when It came to learning about colonization, we realized that past affects affect us firsthand-subliminally. When it came to current events and the movements of new age, we realized that none of this would have happened if it were not for corrupt governments.

One key moment wheres reality set in about our … thought process and how we have been brought down was when we began to learn about human mental interactions, and how the mental clocked everything around it. Over the course of one quarter, I have learned that humans are all the words in my word art; good and bad, despicable and tolerable. Humans are nothing but a stalemate that cannot pick a side. Let us take freedom for example. When you hear Freedom, what do you think of? Do you think of American flags and the Ramparts Red Glare? Do you think of Army soldiers and unchained Negros? This is what I wrote a few months ago to describe freedom:[2]

“Freedom is being secluded from all mankind and hierarchy’s because even if you aren’t in shackles, you are still mentally bonded. Does a driver stop at a red light? Yes, because his mental is still on lockdown.”

Let me help you a second to analyze that; what I am saying, on a basic level, is that freedom is being without worries, cares, or dependence. When you have any of these feelings or verbs, you are not “free”. Yes, there are certain cases where you can be somehow freed: If you’re bailed from jail you are… semi-physically free, yes? I then go on to say,

“Freedom is more of a word than a practice. It is like the word “love”; Thrown around carelessly, like a tiger does with a carcass. “

When you realize that my words are not life lessons, but affiliations with life, you will see how disastrous our human kind are/could be. Now, I am not saying that we should be contained in any form or fashion, but we do need to know when to hold ourselves back. The human race does not credit itself with how far they have came; with what was done, so much more could be accomplished that it even scares me. At one point, our class wrote prompted poems and one thing that I stated that stood out to me was,

“I was raised by peer pressuring blocks and hammers that stayed hot. Where another man getting shot was like a pebble being kicked by our socks; at times we had no shoes. Rubbed down souls decreased our rubbed down sneakers until all that was left were our toes.”

When I recite this out loud, it makes me think of the way that our government/higher officials make a community. Why is it that suburbs are funded more than those who actually need funding? When I had the epiphany from Mr. Blocks class that we are half messed up on purpose, It broke me down and gave me another reason to strive: One of my goals is to not be labeled as a statistic, just as I stated in another poem on the wiki,

“…Regardless if I seen the world as realistic I made a promise to myself one day to not die in Philly labeled as another statistic because being black in America is not only a blessing It is artistic…”

In another instance through the year, we spoke about language and the problems/connections that language can have on people. Here’s a quote,

“I learned quickly how to adapt to my surroundings, language-wise…not just the language of verbal, but the language of clothes, hobbies and act.”

Now, I do not wish for a New World Order, but I question why we are so separated and when it comes to these questions, not even The Bible can truly answer. And I am going to connect history to the point I am trying to make. Several months ago we learned and spoke about various religions and problems that religion has placed upon us. Technically, the world is a hypocrite; using religious text to try to make a point/religion valid when the you either A) don’t practice your preach or B) Can’t Fabricate it anymore than it is.

Personally, I am a Christian… or, was a Christian until I read half of The Bible (NIV). Now, I have read enough of the word, and learned enough from those who know more than me, to come to a conclusion about my God and myself. What I am saying is that every government thinks that they are correct about their religion, when they don’t even know the words, and can’t even come to a honest conclusion about what to teach/uphold to the general public.

Going off of that, listen to this video and think about who we really are:

Reflection

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in Geometry - Thompson on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 9:42 am

-       How does this project relate to the real world?

-       This project is based on methods that real world archetects can use in their work. It is also a useful way for a corporate/building director to establish his point of building height.

-       What was the most exciting portion of this project and why? What was the least exciting portion to this project and why?

-       The most exiting part of this project for me was the calculations; I am not a large fan of math, but since I have been paying more attention and been more focused, I understand and enjoy the concept more, with that being said, the calculations was a good way for me to express my knowledge of math so far.

-       What did you learn from completing this project?

-       Everything can be done one way or another, don’t give up.

1) Who was in your group?

Temperance Moore, Saundra Monroe, Jordan Randall

2) What did you personally do well on this project?

I executed my measurements very well

3) What could you personally have done better?

I could have helped my teammates more than I did; I was too focused on the individual work.

4) What is something that each of the people in your group contributed and/or did well on this project?

Jordan: Energetic and good in helping understand the concepts given, Saundra: Lively and great at calculations, Temperance: Cherry and did very well to keep the group organized.

5) Please describe any issues that you had while completing this project (as an individual).

At one point, my verification was very off point and that took me a while to realize my mistake; crazy how one number changes everything.

6) Please describe any issues that you had while completing this project (as a group).

I felt as though I worked at a faster pace than my group (not saying it was any less right or wrong) But I felt as though they weren’t taking it serious at fir

7) Please describe what you learned from doing this project, both in terms of content and in terms of process.
Most importantly, I learned about formulas, solutions and a different method of teaching. Besides that, I learned what works better for me in math so I can be at my full potential.

Language Autobiography 2013: Adapting to language

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in English 2 - Block on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 12:26 pm
In Mr. Block's class, (English) we wrote an experience we had where we had an incident with language; good or bad. In my story, I wrote about being forced to change your language. I learned through my work and reading that everyone has had a bad experience with language.

When I was a child, around eight to ten years old, I began to see the differences in language. My home language was a completely different dialect than those used by my schoolmates; others alienated me. At my home, I spoke “Proper English;” I spoke with “correct” grammar, proper subjects and predicate, and knowledge in my words. When I was in the fifth grade, I learned quickly how to adapt to my surroundings, language-wise. Around a month after school started I began to realize the way that my classmates spoke and the tone and stressing of certain letters and words used. To me, at the time, it seemed completely irrelevant to speak in that manner. But, in need for friends, I tried to adapt to the language . Not just the language of verbal, but the language of clothes, hobbies and act.

I began to scope out the words that were used more than others such as: Dawg, nigga, yo, chill, damn, bitch and more.  I also taught myself quickly how to dismember someone mentally. I started to watch sports more often so I could talk about it with others. I also began to use language with girls jokingly that I would never use near an elder.

It was lunchtime; so as we were at lunch, this day I sat with Dede, Christian, Nelly, Jose and Brandon. Brandon and me were already friends; Jose was like a bodyguard to me. I helped Jose in schoolwork, and in return he watched my over back. Nelly and I rarely spoke, but because he was husky like Jose, I decided it was best for us to be friends. Dede and Christian were the two most popular kids in fifth grade and I would have preferred them as friends than just voids. I was not that unpopular in my grade, so it wasn’t a big deal about where I sat, but I wanted to get in deeper. As I sat down we began to speak, let me remind you, this is one of the first times I used this “Slang”,

“ Wat up KaBoni?” Jose asked

“Nothin’ bruh, chillin. How are you doing?’” I replied.

“I’m on my grind, cuzzo.” Jose said.

“ Yo, big head KaBoni, you saw da Eagles game last night?” Christian asked.

This was my moment to prove my worth in language, so of course I was nervous. As the words of bliss left my lips, I mentally smiled with glee.

“Yo fat ass, you know I saw da game yesterday. McNabb: booty cheeks yestaday’ but McCoy, dat nigga fast as hell; he run like a fat bitch chasin’ em!”

As the sound of cheerful laughter from the kids filled my ear drums, the sound of acceptance entered my heart. I was accepted by the other school kids as the funny kid and the class clown. At the time, this didn’t seem very major to me, only that I was in the clique. From that point on, I began to tell stories and tales that would make other laugh. I would talk about someone to get respect and props from individuals. From that point on, I began to dress like them. We had a school uniform, but I would start to sag my pants a little, let my jeans flow past the anklet of my shoe and wear head attire in class. We all thought it was cool at the time, but little did I know that it was only slowing me down.  What was realized later on was that I was only halting my mental and language capacity. The more that you adapt to language, the less you will be able to as you gain age.

To this day, I still preserve the language that I learned in elementary school. It is helpful in situations where I am not familiar with the crowd and if I have to adapt to new environment. In high school now, I still use this language with certain crowds when it is necessary to code-switch. For example, I will speak a certain way with Nadir and Richard then I would when I speak to Ronald and Stephen, even if I do not mean to. It is “Proper” vs. “Irregular”. But it is a different kind of hard to put a label on the way that people speak; you cannot just say that there is a proper language because there are many languages/ways to speak and to express your opinion. So with that being said, speaking in any way is just . . . expressing who you are. As an individual though, I was subjected to adaptation. If I did not adapt, I did not fit in.[4]  It is an incentive for many to fit in so they feel like they belong somewhere in the “World” where you are alienated. It is the same reason why people who don’t smoke cigarettes would start smoking to get in cahoots with their boss. It is a way to make things better than the norm.

What I happened when I learned to adapt in middle and elementary school still follows me to this day. Without intending to, I learn how to mimic the acts and language of others easily by taking out key words and incorporating them into my own language. But there is always a cost to substituting yourself. A piece of me is now missing; the piece of me that was myself. [5] Everything changed when I adapted to what was not myself: I lost the part of me that was raised with my mother for 11-12 years, I lost the part of me that took what I like into incorporation before others. Changing or adapting your language has a very high price, regardless if you realize it or not, you will change. It takes a real man to look inside of himself and say, “I’m different, how can I find myself again.

Keystone Monologue Project

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in World History - Block on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8:25 am

What makes a good monologue.

  • Feeling/Emotion
  • Dialogue between you and others
  • A different point of view on things than the known
  • not force thoughts or opinion on onlookers
  • Natural way of speaking
  • One speaker
  • Unfolding/Developing monologue
  • Bias and prospective
  • Objects imaginary

My Name is KaBoni Bailey. I am a sophmore who has recently learned about keystone XL and we as a class are wrighting monologues to express our opinion on the matters at hand. We made monologues from different point of views to express the difference and forethought in many opinions and expressions. The monologues that you will read, will show a side from our personal to your mental. zyou will also witness videos of the monologues that you will read. Thank you and I hope you enjoy it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Tamir Ma’ar

Setting: From libya, came to America in 2008. He is at home with his wife, talking about pipeline that he works at/to self.

Objects: Grill cheese, child.

“ Yea sweetie, yea. uhh,  No, no I wan’t the grilled cheese like my little soldier here. Yea the craft, babe. The Cheese babe.  Ok, Ok. So, you want to hear about daddies day at work? Well, you already know I work for the pipe place right? (wait) Yea, the pipeline co.  no, ‘Co’ stands for ‘company’ honey. uhh, No ‘co’ doesn’t stand for Corporate office. Wait, Babe, does ‘co’ Stand for ‘Corporate office’? Well i guess no one will know then. Anyway sweetie, heres what i do, you ready? I uhh, go to work right, ok, now heres the real kicker, I mop the floors! Isn’t that nice honey? No. Well, thats why mommy put that dollar under your pillow last week when you lost your tooth, huh. No Babe! She’s to old for that now anyhow. Six is too old babe! Anyway, the people, huh, there’re making an uhhh, stop crying and listen to daddy complain please honey. OK, So they’re making a pipe that will go all over the US to give us oil. But i don’t like it. It has to many bad things. First if all, it looks U-gly (uge - ley) The people making it don’t care about anything other than the money they’ll be making and . . . Fine, if you want to cry, go and watch some tv. Some spongebob hon, i think the bubble episode is on. Uhh, thanks for the grilled cheese babe. As i was telling our little soldier over there, the bosses only care about their paycheck and not about the environment they harm. What do i mean? I’ll tell you what i mean. The pipeline would add two mega . . . megatron? (Pause) No a Gigaton! Yea, gigaton of Carbon dioxide into the air. Yea babe, a Gigaton, Thats like a gig---and a ton of gas, you know. times two. You care enough to listen, you don’t love me! Go and walk away then, like you always do! No you don’t! (Mumble) Whatever. ( talking to self) But, what i really want to do is try to stop their production. Yea, stop it, as in sabotage the boiler room and watch it explode! I have access, I could just turn up the thermostat and turn off the cooling valves and wait a week then, BOOM, goodbye mops. I’m serious though. (Pause) I mean, i wouldn’t go that far; just far enough to make my job easier but this job pays well. I need the money. And I don’t think Obama Cares that much, the paper said (Sarcastically), ‘Obama Should approve the pipeline.’ But in another paper it said, ‘ Obama most Definitely not approve keystone XL’, I Guess ‘most definitely’ beats ‘should’, huh. Anyway i want, no no, i WISH that I could stop them, but what am i going to do against a whole company?”

Monologue 2

Name: Artemis Fowl

Setting: On a Playdate, talking to other child about the gasses and asthma. (Thoughtful and very smart child). The other child has little to no recognition of the current situation. He’s rich.

obj: Doll, Monster truck,,

“ Your hair looks better. Yea, No. Hand me that Monsta truck over there. No the red one please, thanks. why do you girls play with dolls all the time? Isn’t 10 too old to play with dolls? I  guess ten years old is too old to play with monsta trucks too, huh? So, my mommy and daddy were talking about, about a pipe. No a pipe. A pipe! A PIPE, like . . . the potty; pipe. Yea, well it goes ALL around the world..  (Pause)   I know thats a lot. (Pause) Well I looked it up on my iphone. (pause)  Google. (Pause) Cause we’re rich. So, the pipe makes stuff for the stuff, then brings it here; but the bad part is that  i’ll have to use my inhaler more, daddy said. (Pause) The asthma doesn’t bother as much as it did when i was little, but it still happens a lot. mommy and daddy say it’s from other cars. I don’t think it comes from our hovercraft, It uses water, i think. Anyway, hows home? (Pause at every question) How are you feeling, is the stuff working? Thats better than last time, i’m . . . i’m proud of you. How are your Mommy and daddy feeling about it? Still crying? Well, where does cancer come from? It’s just there? Maybe it comes from cars and stuff, like my asthma. I guess that it comes from gas, like carbon-drain-oxide. I don’t like gas that much. I love passing it but getting it is--(shakes head). (exited) I like to play soccer and baseball. And I LOVE to play tag. (Serious/sad) But, then i loose my breath sometimes and i can’t play anymore. Why do people make things that are bad for kids, like bad stuff for my asthma and give you cancer? Do they hate us? Yea, i guess you’re right. Well look, we both have problems but for now, we’re kids, so lets just play with these monsta trucks and your (makes nasty face) Barbies. So . . . lets, enjoy the, the umm, little time we have left. . .

Monologue 3

“ . . . What i meant is that you’ll get use to it sooner or later, and that makes the process much easier. (Pause) The first couple times that you’re in here, unless you know some homeboys, then you could be good depending if they somebody’s bitch or not. (Pause) No, (Stand up Half-angry) I don’t hear no politics or news in here, this is solitary confinement, I get a hour of walkin’ a day hoe. (Sits back down) (4second pause) From the last time i was out, four years ago, i was learning about stuff like that: Ozin layer and atmosphere and gases and things. They’re too bad for people nowadays. (Stand up, pacing) Back in 81’, when i did my bid, i heard about things heating up the earth, and i was like, ‘What’, that don’t make any sense. How can can cars and boats make the world hotter. Bad bitches make the world hotter!’  Now that i Know its real, it’s almost like, how the hell can a little heat kill everyone. But that shit ain’t no joke. In, what; a couple hundred years the world isn’t going to be here right? (Stops pacing, Pause for short answer) Something like that. But, my two daughters are going to grow up in a fog inhabited world, and how will i feel when i have to tell them, daddy and his generation did this? (Sits) And we barely hear about anything in here, so if, lets say a big ass pipe was to go all around the world for oil or diamonds or bitches or something, and it let out so much gas that my kids died years later. Or diseases are formed from the amount of heat or gas. That hurts. (Pause for question) What, Wow! I swear to god i didn’t know. Thats crazy. But all non-the-less that just proves my thought to be fact. I have connections to the outside that can rely on, so maybe i’ll look more into that and see if and/or i can do anything from this shit hole . . .”

Descriptive essay (Revised)

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in English 2 - Block on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8:22 am

I’m not a female, but I dreamt of fish that night. How could a simple dream of fish falling from the sky affect the world that was about to collapse me spiritually and emotionally? The moment was one of such seriousness that it took minutes to tell me the news. I don’t know why I felt the need to brace myself, as if a pilot was about to land the plane of drought. My mother was sitting on her bed in her room; I was doing my homework when I heard my mother on the phone. At the time I did not care what and/or whom she was speaking to, up until I heard my cousins name called.

“OK Indigo, well, I . . .”

That was all I heard from my room before my mother shut her door. As I continued to do my homework, I thought of a couple times that Indigo and me had together. When we were kids playing “Def. jam fight for new york”, dressing up for Halloween and many more. Yet, I thought of what could be wrong to the point of my mother closing the door to block out the current conversation; I pondered this while finishing the last of my math questions. Then suddenly, I heard my mothers door creak open, not fully but wide enough to hear her mumble the words,

“Kaboni, Come here.”

I walked the 13 steps to my mother’s room, anxiously waiting for dreary news. As I stepped into her room, I noticed the smell of a recently lit Parliament cigarette, and the illusion of unhappiness. As I walked in the room, my mother sat on the lower left corner of her queen-sized bed, Indian position, and phone still in her ear. My mother had her face in one hand and her phone held on her ear by the other. As she looked up, I noticed an eerie look on her figure. The look on her face was of pure distraught and disappointment. She began to say,

“Promise not to,”

That is when an alarm went off in my head and I began to get scared for myself as well. She continued

“You know Indigo is almost 18 right? So, her choices are her choices, do you know that She has to live with what happened right?”

“Yea,” I started “but what’s going on?”

You could tell by the popping of smaller veins in her forehead that she was attempting to tell me the unbearable. At this moment, I recalled from my mind that Indigo was the child that had been through so much and still wound up on top. The child, who was abused and attacked on a daily basis, at home and on the streets, was the one who survived and became top of her class, the one who rose above the rest, the one who survived.  My mother collected herself and began to finish what she tried to speak about seconds ago. She repeated,

“KaBoni. Lord. Ok are you ready,” she said with teary eyes. “Indigo had a miscarriage,”

I was speechless. There were no words that could form in my never-ending mind of wows and wonders.  As stood in awe, the scenery around me seemed to enclose on my mentally lifeless body as I grasp the seriousness of the situation.

“The baby just decided to come out and they left her at the hospital, she had to push the baby herself.”

“But she was only Four months!” I extorted.

“I know but the baby came early and they do not know why. It was just very bad timing.”

I searched my brain for any clue or figure of a miscarriage: TV, movies or anything to help clear the picture that was missing the artist. There was none. The room was a depiction of darkness that reflected on the evil spirits upon my family. It was when my mother told me next that I realized how real the world was. She stated,

“ She got to hold the baby for an hour and a half before she died . . .”

In that moment, I realized that my child hood was none. I realized that my cousin lost her child because of staff that didn’t want to do their job. I realized that the world is actually an evil place. But in that moment, I decided to myself not to be swallowed whole by the spirits of Satan or the lust of Lucifer. I wanted to be better than the people that killed my cousin-to-be. At that moment, I decided to be what I was meant to be: a leader.

Comment to me which one is better than the others.
project
The first slide that you will see goes greatly with the backround and i bled out some words because you can figure out what they mean.
My second slide is a playful version that has the "unique" in it. halve of the unique is out and the other half is insde.
My third slide is me looking like i am expressing the words at the top. the "gush & drips" in the backround are the evils and negativity that try to grasp, but we will never let them win.

The Smile

The smiles represent all the opportunities that I take from others to smile and enjoy the life that I am given and I know that I am my own being.

This goes with my slide because the “Am” is 1) Yellow. 2) It is smiling.

          The Orb

The one blue orb represents me shining throughout the darkness that the world puts out. It represents the ones who know that they will prevail.

This goes with my slide because the “I” is

1) Blue. 2) It is everlasting

          The forks

The forks represent the ones around me that try to screw me up and detain me from who I am supposed to be.

This goes with my slide because my phrase is, 1) Awesome 2) surviving

          The Equality

The equality sign/poster is something that represents what my personality is and how I enjoy it.

This goes with my slide because I believe that everyone is an equal.

Days of the Week.

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 9:31 am

If you want to know what days you’ll have to go somewhere in Spanish, then you will need to know the days of the week. The days of the week are tricky with pronunciation. So you have to pay attention.

Qué dia es hoy?-------What day is today?

days of week
days of week

In Spanish the day of the week starts on Monday, not Sunday like in America.

Important: The Spanish days of the week start with no capital letters.

On a piece of paper, write this calendar and fill out the top, empty spaces with the days of the week in Spanish…

Here are a few practice problems in Spanish asking for the day of the week that the date is on, try them out (use the calendar above) :

Qué dia de la semana es el 5 de octubré?  _________

Qué dia de la semana es el 22 de octubre?  ________

Qué dia de la semana es el 11 de octubre?  ________

Posted by Kaboni Bailey in Spanish 1 - Manuel on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 9:31 am

To have a proper conversation we must know how to..

1.)  Ask general questions(birthday, date, games ect).

2.)  How to Respond to certain questions.

3.)  How to speak in the right manner.

Here are some general questions and answers:

General questions are the essentials in a conversation. They are like the baseline to keep the conversation flowing. If you know how to have a conversation then you should know how to survive in the Spanish jungle. =).

In the case

of "Como té llamas", when using 'té llamas', you should speak to a person of a higher stature. (Ex; the President, a boss, a manager, ect.)

When using the term 'se llamas', you should usually be speaking to friends/family.

IMPORTANT; Remember not to get “mucho gusto” and “igualmente” mixed up, mucho gusto is always first.

When saying igualmente, it is pronounced exactly how it is spelled. Imagine saying Eagle and mint-e. Eaglement-e.

These are the basic terms you will need to know to start a conversation with someone, try with a friend and see how well you do.

Below is a link that will help you pronounce the words above.

About Me

My name is KaBoni Bailey (Capital B) 9th Grade: My neighborhood is unknown by most and known by the inhabitance. A.K.A the hood. Port Richmond is not what you would call paradise, its more of your personal dream until you get used to the gunshots that vibrate your ears and the beatings that bash your sleep. Because sleep is the cousin of death, we are awake most of the day; doing nothing but hoping for a change… 10th Grade: 15/16 years old is a struggle. When finances deplete, and life goes haywire, I tried to keep my head up and wits about. I failed… 11th Grade:
