Amy Chen Capstone

Posted by Amy Chen in Capstone - Best - Wed on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:20 pm

Abstract:

As a child growing up, I thought losing friends to guns was the norm because it happens very often. However, after attending my first Gun Violence Prevention summit in Washington, D.C, I realize that there are people who have faced similar situation as me and it motivated me to used my skills in advocacy into bringing awareness on gun violence in Philadelphia and pushing for better laws across the country.

The goal of this capstone is to give people the feeling that I had when I attend #Fight4AFuture summit in Washington D.C. I want to motivate youth and leaders to make a change by organizing and bring awareness through education. During the time this event was plan, the primary election was ongoing and I thought it was a great idea to educate voters on where all the mayoral candidates stands on violence in Philadelphia.

Capstone

This book is a very useful book for my capstone because it gives me a insight peek on a person named Canada, where violence is used. They promote violence because it is part of the culture that they are raised in. He spoke about how parents encourage their child to solve issue through violence and threats, often time through fight. Canada spoke about how the younger generation are affected by violence. The younger generation started carrying weapon to school, which started a trend where small crimes become big crime. With this book, I have an idea on violence in other place. But also the reason behind it.

Webster, D. (2013). Reducing gun violence in America: Informing policy with evidence and analysis. Baltimore, MD: Johns Hopkins University Press.

Reducing gun violence in America is a great book that also give me knowledge and statistics on gun violence. The main focus of the book is learning ways to reduce gun violence in America which is establishing better laws such as; the universal background check. The universal background check help make sure that whom ever is purchasing a gun have no criminal record or mental illness. The book included an analysis of the constitutionality of many recommended policies and date form the national public opinion poll that reflects support among the majority of Americans-including gun owners- for stronger gun policies.

Giffords, G., & Kelly, M. (n.d.). Enough: Our fight to keep America safe from gun violence.

This is a story of a heartbreaking couple who wife was shot in the head and magically survived. The book is very inspiring on how dedicated Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford and her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, share their impassioned argument for responsible gun ownership. With the shooting, congresswoman Gabrielle is more eager to bring better laws into the country. The journey and the obstacle that she face to try to bring laws to protect the Americans from guns. At the end of the book. I am more knowledgable on what to bring to the summit and the obstacle that we will face one day.

Gilbert, E. (2014). Thunder in the Mountains: A Personal Journey Through America's Gun Culture.

Author Craig K. Collins wrote a book about his personal life on the role of guns in American Culture. He explores the meaning of a history – of his family’s and his country’s – that is infused with the culture of the gun. The story begins on a hunting trip Collins took with his father and brothers in the early ‘70s, when he was accidentally shot with a high-powered deer rifle at the age of 13 near the top of an isolated peak in Northeastern Nevada. He tells a personal story of a childhood in Idaho and Nevada, where hunting is a way of life and guns are revered – often with fatal and unintended results. He recalls friends – past and present – whose lives have been forever shattered or altered by the explosive force of a bullet. This book is a great use to my summit because it talk about the danger of guns.

This website provided me the recent update on the actions that organization in Philadelphia are taking to address gun issues. Not only does it provided me these information, but also incident that happened in Philadelphia. This article will help me to keep these young people in the summit updated on the crime rate that is happening in Philadelphia. This is a great source for me to look at daily for any update compared to books.

An average of 33 American get murdered by guns everyday and fight4the33 is a campaign that is run through generation progress. #Fight4the33 is a campaign that bring awareness to people to start taking action to address this issue. I am going to promote this campaign at the summit and I hope that people will be more educated with #fight4the33 campaign. Since my other mentor work with me through Generation Progress, I think it will be very useful in the long term run. Which mean recruiting people to organization and as a regional organizer, I can create a bridge of connection.

This source provided wonderful information and fact on what states have establish a stronger law to protect guns. It also keep people updated on the NRA action which is beneficially to the people who are planning actions. This can help strengthen my summit by actually having information and facts.

As a regional organizer through generation progress, I have the source to help other on recent update through generation progress network. This will benefit my project because it is very important that when young people enter the summit they have the source and the need to make the action happened in the future. That’s why the source through generation progress is very useful in future need. Due to the large role that generation progress play in the society and in the white house, Generation Progress can help me make my summit more successful. This is a source about president Obama state of union statement on putting stronger laws to protect people form guns.

This is a good source because it provided all the information and statistic on gun violence in the United States of America. This organization have chapter all over the State, such like Philadelphia, PA. In the summit, I want to introduced people to this organization because it is a wonder organization that people can connect with and create a bridge of communication and working relationship. Overall, it is always great to have a source on just statistic in the United States of America.

My digital story is focusing on how the community of your school can change who you are. My goal was to tell a story on how once upon a time, I was a bad kid because of my community. My community was raised on violence and fights. I wanted to tell a story on how coming to SLA changed who I am, for the better.

I accomplished this goal by showing small clips of my community and small clips on event that I attended at Chicago. I also think that my narrating help because it spoke about how SLA changed me.

I want my audience to know that it is possible to change for the better because I did.

This quarter in physics, the junior class was assigned a project hat applied their knowledge of forces and Newton's Laws of Motion to educate a selected audience about how they could use this knowledge to their advantage while taking public transportation. Our group decided to give advice to other people who don't like to come in physical contact with those around them on the bus. We came up with three specific scenarios and supported our advice using Free Body Diagrams, System Schemas and acted out skits. We hope you enjoy our video and gain some insight into the physics of SEPTA.

When I first enter Mr. Block’s class, I struggled with language, identity, mask, boundaries, and relationship. Throughout the year, I develop a deeper understanding. I used to view language as one specific language such as slang, or dialect. I used to follow what everybody else thinks, but now I realized that I have changed a lot compare to the beginning of the year. I have my own point of views. I have my own identity and my own voice this year. English class and History class had brought me out of my shell. Reading book after book, and building connection with the book. It helps me create a better understanding on why the author wrote this book. After going on trial as the Aztec and the corporation, my point of view has shifted many times. It’s also wonderful to start the class with a journal entry because I am getting a chance to hear other people responded to the questions, especially challenging ones.

In the beginning of the year in English class, Mr. Block started with something small by practicing how to write a descriptive essay. He built us up from scratch and helps us work our way up. When I first started, I had many negative comments about how my scenes are not filled with enough details or how it doesn’t make senses. I will stare at the image, trying to find the right words or phrase to describe it. After having a class discuss on what to look for when writing a descriptive scene such as: the smell, the texture, the color, and the touch. Though enough practice, my skills improve. (Descriptive Essay)

On journal #3 when I had to describe a trip by being descriptive. I always have trouble thinking about my surrounding, but after many practices, it had become my strength. I started of describe every little details and how it feel. One example that I used was, “ I can feel the cold breeze shivering down my neck to my leg.”

Throughout the year, the language essay opened me up the most. I was able to express myself through words. I also learned so much by describing my experience on being Asian American. I discuss a lot about how I adopt to my second language, English. Also my experience as being Asian American while English is my second language. It was hard for me at first because I don’t usually express my hardship. So for me, it was a little personal, but it felt good when I express everything in words. “The struggles of language bring out the negative image by doing negative things to fit in” (Language Autobiography.) I used to think that in order to fit in, you must hide your identity and put on another mask. This quarter help me reflective on how much I change throughout times, but the end of this assignment, I realize that I had accept my identity.

When Kate, from the Philadelphia young playwright came to SLA to help us with our play, I was having trouble thinking about a topic, however, on the next day, I flash back into my language essay and I was so motivated on writing my play basic on language. Through this play, I put in some of my personal experience into it. When some scenes were perform, I was so proud of myself and I love how the audience loved my play. I was being really creative with my play by adding character that speak three different type of language, Mandarin, Cantonese and Foochow. I was so fascinated with the effort I put in, and how creative it was. The actors that I choose was having many problems trying to pronounce the words right. But it is amazing to get them to speak my language with a short amount of time.  I decided to give my play the title called, “Manipulation,” because people can get manipulated base on what people tell them.

The most fun part was that it never gets old for me to write about language or do something creative that involved language. On journal #25, we had to find different types of boundaries. One boundary that pops to my head automatically was Language, once again. As a class, when we listed all the boundaries, we had to be creative by creating a podcast about one of the boundaries. Of course, I chose language. I had so many people in mind to interview, but when Mr. Block came up to me and said you can interview your mom. I hesitated a little because my mother spoke broken English, but at the end of day, I chose to interview my mom and my aunt. I tried my best to get my mom to speak in English, but it wasn’t working at all. So I told my mom, just speak in Foochow and I will translate it. It was super hard for me to find a creative way to translate it, because I don’t want to make it boring or confusing. When I interviewed her, I did a small voice over her interview when she spoke each story. It was incredible difficult, but I manage to pulled it off. (Crossing Boundary: Language)

Language Autobiography 2013: The Journey

Posted by Amy Chen in English 2 - Block on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 2:07 pm
Introduction and Reflection:

This unit, we had been talking about how language affects us. How people view slang, how accent are different in every country. We were given a project to write an essay about how language is related in real life. We had to write an autobiography of how language affects us. A lot of people view slang differently; some people thought that slang is for African American people. Other views it as a way that people talk around their environment. I learned that language is an obstacle that I had to face and it took a part of me and it gain a part of me. I also learn that language can also be stereotype by different race.

Overall I could have done better because I could add more powerful descriptive scene. However, I believe that this Language essay open me up and make me thing that my story is finally being told. Also I can put this story as something people can learn from. It makes people realize that bullying someone because they have an accent can really change them. It also makes them reflect on their action. Thinking about how powerful language is, it really can bring out the negative image. The hardest part of this project is the “Reflection” because they are so much to be told but a limited on how much can be told.

The Journey

I was born and raised in New York, Brooklyn. I was taught to speak Chinese first and English second. However, throughout my journey as I grow older, I was quadrilingual. I learned how to speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Foochow and English. When someone asked me, “How am I doing?” I can answer in Mandarin “wu hao” or Cantonese “wo ho” or Foochow “loy hall.” I have an accent when I speak English and I used to get bullied due to this problem. Every time a word came out my mouth, people would say, “I don’t understand you, what the hell are you speaking?” and they will go into making racist jokes. From my experience, I view Language as an obstacle that everyone has to face because the struggle of language brings out the negative image.

During third grade, every time I tried to talk to someone or ask a teacher a question, I would hear giggling behind my back, people whispered, “What is she saying, does the teacher even understand her?” I start to stutter as words start to come out my mouth. My voice will slowly echo away, until my teacher says, “Amy! Speak louder! I can’t hear you!” At that moment, I nodded my head and stayed silent. Sometime I would get so angry and grip my fist under my table because I’m not fighting back. The smell around my table smell like sour sweat, sour feet sweat, and rotten apple. Sometime I wanted to say, "Why you stink?" I wanted to fit in so I started to talk more often and made fun of other people. I would say stuff like, “why is your head so big? You stink, you need to shower, your stupid.” Sometime when a teacher asks me to stop talking, I reply, “No, shut up” and go straight back to talking.

I started to help them by helping them on homework, letting them copy, and allowing them to cheat on my tests. I know these things were wrong to do, but they guaranteed a friendship between them and I. This fat kid said, “Amy, go punch that kid,” I was hesitating, I wanted to back up but I couldn’t, I went and punched that kid. I heard cheering behind my back and I felt proud. My mouth suddenly open and my smile got bigger. I walked back to my table feeling proud. I realize that I’m finally fitting it. I’m finally not alone. Ever since that day, I started to sit around these kids, laugh and joke around. Sometimes they will make fun of my accent but will soon say, “Amy, you know I’m joking.” Throughout third grade, people will come up to me and say, “Amy, you changed, what happen to you? I thought you were a good kid, not those kind of kids who will hang around people who gets into fights or even got locked up before.” I didn’t know how to respond to that because I thought I wasn’t doing anything wrong.

At home, I feel comfortable with whatever I speak because no one judges me. Most of the time, I speak English with my siblings. Most of the time when I am having conversation with my mom, I would speak English and she would get pissed and reply in Foochow, “loy meohite new gon se mal. New soon gon se mal. New á bit loy meohite loy me tawn enou.”  (I don’t understand you. What are you trying to say? I don’t know English that well.) Soon my mom will start to lecture me that when I go to china, it’s a bad influence on us. It shows shame, you need to speak Chinese at home and English in school.

“Language is the sources of misunderstandings” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery People misunderstand basic on your accent. Sometime they fail to understand you and make fun of me. Many people misunderstand me because my pronunciation is not normal due to my accent.

In my neighborhood, people who are Chinese, look at me like I’m an outsider because I’m hanging out with white and black people.  They say that Chinese people need to speak Chinese and hangout with Chinese people only. Language influence the way I am, the people who I hang out with, and how others view me due to the group I am with. It makes me insecure of my identity.

Language affects the way we are today. It takes and added a part of who we are today. While losing and gaining these part that make us today, your race start to view you differently too. For an example while I was gaining a part which I never had before which was doing bad things that I knew that was wrong such as calling people names, talking their stuff and hiding it, people around my neighborhood who are Chinese are afraid of me because they believe that I will bully their child. They start to stereotype me basic on the people I am hanging out with.

The struggles of language bring out the negative image by doing negative things to fit in such as bullying others, hanging out with the wrong group and talking back to teachers. I noticed that people who have stronger accent are often bully and made fun of because they are not view as normal people and they are also view as weak people.

Language Autobiography 2013: My Journey

Posted by Amy Chen on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 11:02 am

This unit, we had been talking about how language affects us. How people view slang, how accent are different in every country. We were given a project to write an essay about how language is related in real life. We had to write an autobiography of how language affects us. A lot of people view slang differently; some people thought that slang is for African American people. Other views it as a way that people talk around their environment. I learned that language is an obstacle that I had to face and it took a part of me and it gain a part of me. I also learn that language can also be stereotype by different race.

Keystone XL Pipeline Monologue Project

Posted by Amy Chen in World History - Block on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 12:22 am
Introduction:

This project is about creating a monologue on whether should the Keystone Pipeline should be built or should it not be built. We have to choose three characters or made up character that talks about the keystone pipeline. The keystone pipeline is a pipe that travel from Canada to Texas. We gather quotes from websites and videos to support our monologues. During class, we had a class discussion on what mades a monologue strong.
For an example:
- Setting
- Object
- Tone of voice
- Staying in character
- ETC.
I did my monologues basic on three type of characters that are involve in this Keystone Pipeline. One of my character agree with the Keystone Pipeline. The other one disagree on the Keystone pipeline and the last one is deciding whether he should disagree or agree. When we finalize our project, we have to created a video for one of our monologue. From this project, I learn that this Keystone Pipeline should not be built because it is damaging thousands of people home. Also, it will increased health problems from breathing unhealthy air. Health problem can lead to budge. Budge can lead to thousands of people forming together to takes down the Keystone Pipeline. Another way of saying this is when they build the Keystone Pipeline, more people are going to try to take down the keystone pipeline and when they take it back down it's a waste of 7 billions dollars.

Monologue 1 (Bill Mckibben)

(Holding a mic)
Obama!
If you can hear me.
I’m outside the white house.
Pointing.
Do you see me?
You hear this sound.
You can tell how much we want this pipeline destroy
It’s not just me
It’s US
Look us in the eye
And tell us that you will not let them build this pipeline.
You can make a change to the earth!
A pipeline that travel from Canada to Texas.
I pretty sure that no one want to breath this toxic air.
Unless,
You want to die.
Listen!
The rise in the ocean will beginning to slow and the planet will begin to heal.
I want snow again.
I don’t want to suffer the rest of my life in a hot environment.
Wait wait wait.
I think I miss the part when they discussed the Arctic is melting.
OH THAT!
If you can hear me in this mic!
STOP THE PIPELINE NOW!
Let the earth heal!
I won’t stop until you stop this.
I believe in you.
I will continue to vote for you.
So help us
We are not going to let Mitt Romney to become president.
We need you.
So help us and we will continue to believe in you.
This pipeline is damaging people’s home.
Hundred.
Thousand.
Look.
Even the chemistry of’ seawater is steadily becoming more acidic, as the ocean absorb carbon from the atmosphere.
Poor earth.
I can hear the animals howling for help.
Help us and we will help you.

Monologue 2 (Transcanada “Corey Goulet”)
Oh,
This seat is comfortable.
Too bad this desk is too big.
I have been staring at Bill Mckibben twitter for hours.
Complaining and Complaining.
Just shut up.
Aright.
Not trying to be mean
But.
We need oil.
We can’t away rely on Mexico.
In the last decade,
Their oil had fallen to 600 thousand barrel
Our pipeline is safe.
We will make sure that it is built correctly.
Okay?
So why don’t you just back up.
And let us build this pipeline.
It’s that simple.
It’s cheap.
And a reliable energy.
Duh!
Saying no to this brilliant idea.
Must mean you are stupid.
Did you see our record Bill Mckibben?.
It was stated that.
Transcanada claim that it’s building the safest pipeline ever
And plus.
Why are you so concern?
If there is a leak.
Our system will stop this immediately before it reach the water.
Or should I say.
Before a drop of oil met the water.
That’s why I said.
(click, click) (computer mouse)
Dam,
Here is another complain.
Gosh.
You know what.
Keep on complaining.
It’s ain’t going to stop us.
Let me just say that.
Let us build this pipeline.
And let everyone be happy

Monologue 3 (Federal Government (employ in state department))

(On the phone)
Hello?
I’m Busy right now.
I have a meeting to attend in 2 hours
maybe, next time?

(Clicking the mouse)
(took a deep breathe)
The budget is not getting any better
What am I'm going to do?
This pipeline sure do sound a lot of money.
I mean like.
You already know that we are in debt.
7 billions dollars!
WOhhoo!
This hell lots of money
But….
then..
on the other side….
it does help us too.
Like,
Okay,
SO think about this.
If we do build this.
Then this mean that our oil will becoming cheaper.
I play over 50 dollar a week just going to work and back from work
Save me so budge!
Wait,
but
then
there is
cons
lots of them
Like the pipe will leak and causes damage
and that’s another thousand
or maybe
millions of dollar
to fixes again
Why can't we be rich?
Thanks to bush!
We are in some much debate.
What is today date again?
agh!
OH!
it's october!!
Next month is the election of the new president.
Secretary!
Bring me so water please!
And get these data done!
No buts or its
I don't care.
I don't give a dam and leave me the hell alone.
This pipeline had destroy my life!
What should I do.
BUilt it or….
don't build it…
Build it..
or
don't build it.
I don't even know!!!

(On the phone)
Hello,
who is this?
This is Mitt Romney. Sir,
I would like you to approve this proposal and allow us to build this pipeline from Canada to Texas

(Hanging up the phone)
Beeeeeeeeeeppp
(Drink the water)
Dam, Mitt Romney give me some SPACE!
Do I want to approve this method?
Or
do I?

Appendix:
- Causes Health Problems
- Creates more jobs
- Reliable energy
- Create more Co2 for the earth which can damage the environment even
   more
- It's dirty
- Leaks and damage can happen to the pipeline
- Clean water supply could decreases

Descriptive Essay: A Weight Have Been lifted Of my Shoulder

Posted by Amy Chen in English 2 - Block on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 12:12 pm

A few months ago, I had just received an invitation for a scholar program called The National  Society of High School Scholar. I scan the envelope from back to front, I was so curious. The envelope texture was so high quality. The golden color, the rough paper which felted so smooth, the envelope looked so thin. I tumble up the staircase into my room to grab a scissor to cut the edge off smoothy. Slowy I remove the letter from the envelope and the first word that came directed to my eye was, “Congratulations!” I was even more curious on what the letter was about, I slowly read through the letter making sure I read every information. I was so excited on what the letter said, I immediately went to my dad, asking can I join, I was so hype. I believe I was talking so fast that my dad didn’t really understand me.

Finally, when I received my membership kit I was so excited that I ripped the box open. I flipped my laptop open, logging into the website to see any scholar available. As soon as the page loaded, I saw a event on August 3 at Washington D.C on their homepage about their 2012 Annual Scholar’s Day Event. I register for it immediately without think. I felt so conflicted with the idea of my parents letting me. So I told myself that I will tell them 2 week before the event start.

Two weeks later:
Me: “Daddy, can I got to an event in Washington D.C for the NSHSS?”
Dad: “No, it’s too far, who is going to take you?”
Me: “I will take the train there and stay in a hotel for 1 night or I can stay over uncle house at Washington D.C.”
Dad: “Ask your mom?”
Me: “Well it can help me in the future and I get to met famous people like Claes Nobel and it will even look good when I apply for colleges.”
Dad: “Fine, okay. You can go.”

That night when my mom came home around 9 o'clock. I told her that “Mommy, Daddy said I can go to Washington D.C for the annual for the NSHSS.”
My mom immediately responded, “No, it’s too far and your dad just called me saying to stop you from going.”
I grip my fist up into a ball inside my pocket and I felt like I had just been stab in the chest. I felt so hurt. I responded saying, “No he didn’t! He said I can go and I’m still going! I don’t care! I plan out everything already! You never let me go nowhere! All you care about is trapping me at home!”
She yelled at me how stupid I am and how I don’t know anything. Without thinking, I walked out the house sitting on my swing, refusing to look at her or to speak to her. I felt like my heart just skipped a beat and my chest felt so tight from all this anger. That night was cold so, I balled myself into a ball while sitting on the swing to keep myself warm. I rubbed my two hand together to create some heat for my body and started rubbing my forearm. I heard the door open and it was my mom. She said, “Get inside the house.” I ducked my head under her arm so I wouldn’t slam my head on her arm. I skipped two steps up the staircase to get away from her.
I shut my room tight and tear started to run down my face. I can taste the salting tear drip down my face. I wonder to myself thinking that Why can’t I go? She never let me go anywhere. She always get to choose what I have to do, this is so unfair. Sometime I wonder, why don’t parent believe in their child on making the right choice. Why can’t they believe them on the path they choose to take. More and more thoughts came to mind. I know I have a path that I want to take, I want to become a doctor. Can they really compare me to other people who they never met, or are they just want me to take their path, a path that they never took and want me to succeed that path.

People like me have their own dreams and goals and no one want to live of your parent in the future. Yes, there are time when I play around and act stupid but when it comes to education, I am a competitive person who like to stand out and succeed with my own acknowledgment or power with something that I earned, not from the power of my parent.

I flipped my laptop screen open again, logging back into the NSHSS home page and stared at the screen. I was debating on should I unregister or should I disobey her and do what I want to do and what is good for me in the future?” My tear stop running down my face and when I blink, my eye burn for crying and staring at the screen too long.
One week later, my dad, my mom and I drove off to Washington D.C to pick up my brother and sisters from my uncle house. I had a whole row open for myself and I layed down, relaxing until we arrived. During dinner, we celebrate and sang a Happy birthday song for my sister, Cindy. Suddenly my mom bought up the situation about me going to washington D.C. My uncle immediately said “why don’t she stay here? I can take her there since I live here.” I felt like a whole weight had been lifted of my shoulder and I was so relieved. I body felted so light like I was floating. I thought to myself, “how come only my uncle could understand me but not my mom?” My mom said, “okay to my uncle,” and I was so happy that I just ran up my cousin room and started jumping on her bed while playing the mini guitar.
That night, I layed in my cousin bed thinking. Why was my mom so worried about me getting lost? I am grown enough. I also soon realize that I was wrong. My mom was only worried and denied that I can’t go because she was concern of my safety. But still I think that we as her child have the right to make our right choice then living under a circumstance of their rules.

On May 22, 2012, our spanish class have a luncheon on different foods. I am a very picky eater, I enjoy most of the foods but some i didn't. I was so curious on how the food might taste like but at the same time I was scare to try it because I'm not use to eating new foods.  Just from that day, I learn a lot about spanish foods. i found their style amazing and i love how they made the chicken. When I ate the chicken I though that I was in heaven maybe even dreaming. I love eating meat and the next thing that i know was that I went up for second for chicken and pork. It was a amazing experiment. I kinda regret not trying new things, hahaha.

Negative Space

Posted by Amy Chen in Art - 9 - Hull on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:27 am

Negative space is the space around and between the objects.

In my drawing, I found my negative space by taking a look around the object and picture how it would look like with the negative space cut out. Therefore, I use my imagination to figure my negative space for both cut and stool drawing.

It helps an artist to see negative space because it creates a contrast of the image for the artist.

Yes, negative space enhance drawing because it gave me a good look of what the image is suppose to look like.

My Culture "Chinese"

Posted by Amy Chen in English 1 - Kay on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 1:57 pm

                        "LOVE HIGH"

My culture is Chinese. I use Korean music to describe my culture because many people think of Chinese people as people who study and who don’t have much fun like other race. In my culture, friendship, family’s bond and dreams are the most important things. We believe that dream is the most important thing because it’s our first step toward a goal and succeeding on becoming something. Our culture is also very big on education. My culture believes that education is the first step in everything because we believe that education leads our future. Our parent always educated us to go forward with our dream. This song called “love high” has no artist because it came from a TV show called Dream High. I found this song important because it is important to express feeling toward one another to make a better and stronger friendship and bond. In my culture we also believe that music is another way to escape darkness. In my culture, we always say, “No matter what stand in the way, always move forward toward that goal.”  Love high is a song about dream and how to always fly up. I choose this song because it motivated other people to fly up to their dream like in my culture.

Through the show called dream high, the two girl who high five each other was rival, but through music like this, it pulled them back together in a inch closer on becoming friends again. And in my household, whenever something happen we use music like Love high to sing and enjoy the time and creating the bond of the family stronger. During Chinese New Year, our family always prays through our god saying something about leading our children into the right path with their dream and let them succeed with that dream. And using that dream to created their future. That’s why I choose this music called “Love high” because it talks about dream, and dream like a key into our future in our culture.

Here is the picture of one of the person who sing it. Click here for the video on youtube. You need to watch this video in other to understand the last paragraph.
Thank  you

Querida Mariedy Bastidas

Buenos días , ¿Cómo está? Soy bien. Me llamo Amy Chen y tengo quince años.

Amy Chen

Amy Chen Q2 Media Fluency

Posted by Amy Chen in Technology - Hull on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:30 am
During my final copy
I took out the picture that are not needed
I also took the idea that my classmate gave me like make the picture bleed
I keep my slide short with using 3 major sports
I also change the color of my picture and background
I kept my text large and baby blue because I want the audience to focus on it
that is pretty much

Scripts

As you can see I change my slide
I change my color of the background
and i eliminated the picture that are not needed
I also made my words bigger
and using less word
the reason why the color on my background is tan is because i want to start to blend in with the background
I keep my front a baby blue so the audience can focus on it
I use the rule of 7 words only
because i want to keep it basic

As you can see, in my slide you see a check sign or a nike side
the reason why I put this in the middle is because it lead you to the path
when you look at the slide
you see the arrow that point to the top
well, when you look at my slide and follow the arrow
you see the football, baseball and the basketball
its like a circle so when you follow the circle
it lead you to my favorite position that i play in these sports
as you can see in baseball my favorite part is catching the ball
and in basketball my favorite part is shooting the ball
and in football my favorite part is catching the ball
another reason why i put the nike sign is because
nike is a brand with all sports stuff
and when it come to sport
i always go to nike and shop
so not does it just describe my favorite sport
but also describe my favorite brand

How to tell time and ask someone what time it is?

Before you learn how to tell what time it is, you have to know numbers 1-12. You also would need to know when to use the words es la and son las. Last but not least, you need to know the meaning of menos and y media and when to use it. The chart below it will show you all these things.
