Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz Capstone

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in Capstone · Hernandez/Hull · Wed on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9:56 pm
For my capstone, I hosted a Day of Diversity. The Day of Diversity celebrated all forms of diversity within the School District of Philadelphia. I wanted to host a Day of  Diversity because I believe that the diversity within the school district is very unappreciated and I wanted to celebrate and show the importance of diversity within schools. The actual creation of my capstone was a long process that took me most of the year to thoroughly plan out. There were a series events that went into planning my event. The two biggest essential questions that I constantly come up when I was planning my capstone were ¨what does it take to host a successful event?¨ and ¨what do I want people to get out of this?¨. I hosted my event at Greenfield in the courtyard because I did not want a capstone that people felt like it was a chore to go to. I wanted it outside because it was an activist event with a fun twist. At my actual event, I had a series of fun activities that people were able to participate in, water ice, an open mic, and music! I had a great turn out and I am very happy with how my capstone turned out!

  • School District of Philadelphia, Demographic Information, South Philly High School http://webgui.phila.k12.pa.us/schools/s/southphila/information-about-us/demographic-information

When I first came across this source, I first believed it to be not useful. I thought the dates that were presented were too outdated for me to be able to use them. I am able to use the demographics of this school from the past and I can compare them to more recent ones. There is also shows how the demographics have increased and decreased throughout the years in this one particular school. With that being said, this source is in fact useful for my capstone, I am now, with this source, able to use the historical demographics of this school and see if anything has changed.

  • “Main Menu:” The School District of Philadelphia, www.philasd.org/.

I selected this source because this source is the entirety of my capstone. My capstone revolves around the School District of Philadelphia therefore, I need to use the School District of Philadelphia´s website. This source gives me access to all of the School District Schools. It provides the necessary information I need about location, demographics, school population, etc. Though this source provides me with most of the information I need for my capstone it does not provide everything. This source does not provide some information that should be easily accessible and on the website and it is not so I am able to use that as a key part of my capstone.

  • “Your next great diversity job awaits you.” What is Diversity ?, www.diversity.com/page/What-is-Diversity.

I chose this source because it provides a universal definition of what diversity is. This source gave the definition of diversity but not in the way we mostly see it; they provided a definition that did not only have to do with race but with all sorts of differences. They gave the definition of diversity that I am going to use in my capstone. In my capstone I am not only going to speak about diversity in the sense of race but I am going to speak about religion, sex, socioeconomic status, etc. I am going to speak about the diversity in the School District of Philadelphia as a whole.

  • “Pennsylvania School District Demographic Profiles.” Click for info, proximityone.com/pa_sdc.htm.

I chose this source because this source provides information about the demographics about multiple schools in Philadelphia. This source is very useful to my capstone because it provides demographics in a universal sense. They not only provide race demographics but they provide demographics relating to socioeconomic status which is a crucial part of my capstone. Diversity in schools relates to school neighborhoods and school neighborhoods have to do with socioeconomic status. My capstone shows how diversity shifts throughout schools and neighborhoods and this source shows all of that. -

  • “How to Host a Profitable Educational Workshop.” Www.ideafit.com, www.ideafit.com/fitness-library/how-to-host-a-profitable-educational-workshop.

When I first found and read this source, I did not think that i related to my topic at all. This source talks about how to host engaging physical fitness and health workshops. Even though this source speaks about hosting physical fitness and health workshops it still provided the necessary information to host engaging workshops. For my capstone, I am hosting a Day of Action which is just a day filled with workshops. Because my entire event consist of workshops I need to know how to properly host workshops that are educational and engaging.

  • “Data Dive: How Do Demographics Affect Performance at Philadelphia Public High Schools? WHYY, whyy.org/articles/data-dive-how-do-demographics-affect-performance-at-philadelphia-public-high-schoolms/.

When I first found this source I found it immediately interesting. I thought that  something that I need to add to my capstone,. This article speaks about how the demographics of Philadelphia high schools affect student performance. This article just strengthens my capstone idea about how important diversity is and how we need to appreciate it more. The basis of my capstone is celebrating diversity and bring about diversity awareness. I want to show the importance of diversity and this article is a direct source to that; this source directly shows how diversity affects students and their performance in school.

  • “2018 Most Diverse High Schools in the Philadelphia Area.” Niche, www.niche.com/k12/search/most-diverse-public-high-schools/m/philadelphia-metro-area/.

I chose this source because it is a list of the most diverse high schools in Philadelphia. I want to show the correlation between diversity and schools. This source provided  the most diverse high school in Philadelphia, the thing about all of most of these high schools is that they are magnet schools. The rest of the schools are public neighborhood schools. At my capstone I am going to have a panel of speakers that brings up the topic “should we keep magnet schools?” This is important to my capstone because it seems as though the only diverse schools are magnet schools but if we get rid of magnet schools then maybe neighborhood schools would become more diverse.

Does Honesty in the End Truly Matter>

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 3 · Pahomov · B Band on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 10:47 pm

Play: The Taming of the Shrew

Movie: Two Weeks Notice

In the play The Taming of the Shrew there is a lot of deception throughout all of the relationships. Lucentio lied to Bianca about his identity because he wanted her to fall in love with him and Petruchio lied to Katherine about an arranged marriage because he felt like that was the best decision. In the movie Two Weeks Notice George lies to Lucy about a community center he plans to tear down because he does not want to hurt Lucy. In the movie and in the play the characters lie to their ‘partners in the relationship’ because they believe it is the right decision. In the end every single relationship ended up together even though they lied to their partners.  The similarity in all their actions shows that audiences believe deception does not have a long standing effect on a couple in love.

In the play The Taming of the Shrew honesty and deception play a big role. Throughout the entire play every single relationship had a lie but in the end everyone had a happy ending. Petruchio, a man who wanted to marry for dowry and happiness, lied to his wife Katherine. He deceived her into marriage.

Quote 2: Act 2 Scene 1, pg 95, Petruchio is talking to Katherine, line 282 “Marry, so I mean, sweet Katherine, in thy bed. And therefore, setting all this chat aside, thu sin plain terms: your father hath consented that you shall be my wife, your dowry ’greed on, and, will you, nill you, I will marry you. Now Kate, I am a husband for your turn, for by this light, whereby I see beauty, thy beauty that doth make me like thee well, thou must be married to no man but me. For I am he am born to tame you, Kate, and bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate conformable as other household Kates.”

In this quote this is what Petruchio is saying to Katherine about their “arranged marriage”. He lied to her about having to be married, he only wanted to marry her because he wanted dowry and a wife. He told her that he and father made an agreement and that they will be married. This causes Katherine to believe she must marry Petruchio so she does. She obeys her father and proceeds to try and have a functioning marriage.

In Two Weeks Notice, George, the face of a company, lies to Lucy, his ex-lawyer, about a community center.

Screenshot 2017-04-21 at 1.00.41 AM.png

Here is when Lucy finds about the tearing down of the community center. The community center is where Lucy spent most of her childhood and George’s company plans on tearing it down. The community center was the deal between George and Lucy, if the community stayed unharmed then Lucy will be George’s lawyer. Because George was unable to keep his promise Lucy feels as though George just lied to her the entire time and that she got played. George did not want Lucy to find out about the community center because he did not want to hurt her. This compares to The Taming of the Shrew because in the play and in the movie the men felt that their lie was best for the relationship and their partner. In the Taming of the Shrew and Two Weeks Notice the men in the relationships told lies to protect the females in the relationship. Even though they were lied to the women stayed in the relationships.

In The Taming of the Shrew, Lucentio, a man who fell madly in love with the beautiful girl Bianca, lied so that Bianca would fall in love with him.

Quote 3: Act 1 Scene 1, pg 47, Lucentio is talking to Tranio, line 243 “And not a jot of “Tranio” in your mouth. Tranio is changed into Lucentio.”

In this quote Lucentio is telling Tranio his plan about disguising themselves as one another.. He did this because Lucentio, dressed as Tranio, would be able to become Bianca’s school teacher. Lucentio needs to do this because of Bianca’s overprotective father. Bianca is not allowed to marry until her sister Katherine married and because Katherine was not married and had no suitors Lucentio decided to pretend to be a school teacher to get close to Bianca. Bianca and Lucentio end up falling in love but their entire relationship is a lie. Their entire relationship is a lie because Bianca does not know the true identity of Lucentio, she believe he is a school teacher when that is not the case. She does not know that the only reason he is her school teacher is to get close to her.

In this scene Lucy walks in on George and June, a woman who wants George. George and Lucy are currently undressed and under the influence of alcohol.

Screenshot 2017-04-21 at 6.57.36 AM.png

Throughout the movie June seemed to be jealous of Lucy. June was the replacement for Lucy when resigned but June was very flirtatious with George knowing that Lucy and George were forming a relationship. When Lucy and George had a fight June decides to intervene and ‘comfort’ George. They end up kissing and participating in some sort of sexual activity. Lucy end up going to George’s house to resolve their issue when she sees June and George together. George lies to Lucy and tells her nothing is going on even though they are both clothesless. Once again the man in the relationship attempts to lie to protect the woman in the relationship.

In the play and in the movie every relationship has lies but it never truly mattered in the end. Society’s attitudes towards dating and relationship show that honesty and deception do not matter when the couple is in love. In The Taming of the Shrew both relationships end up happy and in Two Weeks Notice the relationship ends happy as well. The couples seem to be more in love if anything else therefore if the couples are in love it does not matter if someone lies in the relationship.

Unapologetically Latina

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 3 · Pahomov · B Band on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 8:44 am

Dear SLA community,

… I need you to hear a few things

My first day of highschool was suppose to be one of my greatest memories, but it was the day that I realized my word would change. On my way to school I caught the el, a train that I was terrified to get on. It was the way to my new life. The el was this huge clunk  of metal with blue seats inside. We sat down and I sat next to the window. As I look out the window I can feel the anxiety bubbling inside of me. She hugs me and says it will be okay. She was someone I was comfortable with. I’ve known her for years, it was already like she was a part of the family. “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine, it’s honestly a great school.” She was a junior at SLA, the best coincidence. On our way to school she was explaining to me the “unique” dynamics of my new school. I remember her telling me all about SLA and how I am going to love it. “It’s pretty diverse in a way but you will be that token spanish friend.” Those words stuck with me, I never thought that they would be so accurate. I was wrong.

As I walked into the building I watched her as she scanned in. The cafeteria was made of windows which I loved, I thought it was so cool. There was a hole in the ceiling which was strange but it didn’t seem to matter to me. The cafeteria was filled with people I did not know what to do.  I was so nervous, it was if I was a mouse in a world filled with giants. Everyone looked the same. Someone yelled out her name “Melissa, come here!”, she ran to her and hugged her. I scanned the building as I waited by Melissa as she hugged all of her friends. I am glad to see the same walls I saw from Summer Institute. I couldn’t help but look up at what, at the time, was missing part of the ceiling. I saw people poking their heads down and waving to people, that seemed so strange to me. Melissa finished saying hi to all of her friends and walked me to my advisor’s room. She gave me a hug and said “Have a good day, text me if anything.” As I walked in I sat next to Emily, a girl I remembered from Summer Institute from the previous week. I looked around the room and all I saw was white. There was some color in the room, but barely. I put on a brave face hoping no one sees my discomfort. We transitioned to our first class, and once again I saw a lot of white. I have never been so uncomfortable in a place that I am supposed to love. I see a girl I went to I knew. As I sat down and looked around I saw of white people sitting together and I knew we didn’t know each other yet, but I wondered as to why they all sat together. Fast forward three years and I am sitting in my history class and it has even come to a point where our history teacher said something. “It seems like all the white people sat together and all the black people sat together.” That’s crazy I thought, even our teacher notices it. Everyone laughs...

My life at SLA has been pretty great, better than most but I sometimes feel ostracized by just looking the way I look. I cannot deny the fact, even if I tried, that I am Latina. I look just like a typical Latina girl. I have caramel skin, brown eyes, brown hair, and I am short. I am filled in a school with giants. These giants vary in color, but all the same they are giants. I never see any caramel skin giants. I really miss seeing similar faces. I miss people being able to properly pronounce my name. My name is meant to flow off the tongue Elani Belen Gonzalez-Ortiz. It took me a long time to come to love my name and SLA has made me hate it. Whenever I tell someone my entire name they tell me that it is too long and they are going to call me something different. Then when I tell them, “No, you will call me by my name,” they look at me as if they are offended. I have come to accept the fact that people are just going to butcher my name. Also by coming to SLA, I have realized that I am that one token spanish friend. Melissa was right. Everyone came to me with questions asking if I could read over their spanish essays or if I can do their homework. Then once again, they get offended when I tell them no. Like I do not have my own things to worry about. SLA has honestly made me just want to forget the fact that I am a Latina. I have heard people butcher my language and not even wanting to fix it. They also like to point out the fact that they are giants like I already cannot tell, that I do not realize that I am not one of them.

I tried to be friends with the giants, and I was for a while until I met people with color. They weren’t caramel, but all still the same it was color. Don’t get me wrong, I am still friends with the giants, but the creatures with color understand me more. They sympathize with what I am going through, they try and try to say my name but it still isn’t the same. Everyday I wanted to come home just so I can be reminded how beautiful being Latino really is. That our caramel skin is beautiful and that my brown hair is not dirty but vibrant. That the curls and frizz in my hair is not nasty but lively. No one understands it though, the giants, the creatures, and not even home.

Home doesn’t understand what it is like to constantly be asked questions about your culture every single day, just so they can get a good grade not even for them to understand. My mom understands though, she is in the same world I am. These giants and creatures don’t seem to understand why questions suck. It sucks because it is as if I am an animal in the zoo, like if everyone wants to constantly take pictures with me. I wanted to be normal but I couldn’t with everyone always wondering about me.  Why being constantly pointed out because I am Latina is annoying. “Yes, I understand I look different but you can stop pointing it out thanks”, I thought all the time.

I miss my old life. Once you meet another Latino it is as if you are instant friends, you automatically have something to bond over. Latinos are a very tight nit community and I was pulled from that. I remember everyone always being able to say my name correctly and I never felt strange about my name either because all of our names were sort of similar in a sense. No one ever questioned me in my old life. I was just the average latino kid just like everyone else was. I never felt like an outsider in my old school. We all spoke spanish and all came from the same place, it was diverse in the sense that we had all kinds of latinos but nothing else.

Science Leadership Academy the best innovative school for the kids who don’t think like your average teenager. We are diverse! Everyone will love it. SLA is a non-Latino school. We are diverse, but not diverse enough.

Sincerely,

A proud Latina

Reading Profiles J'lynn Matthews

J’lynn does not find her happiness in books. Reading is not her favorite thing to do. She does not find an interest in most books but when she does she can never get enough of it. J’lynn’s favorite book is Hollow Went Down and she described it as turkey meatloaf. She said it was like turkey meatloaf because you can’t just have one bite, you need more. J’lynn wanted more of the book, she couldn’t get enough of it.

J’lynn tends to abandon books so whenever she finishes a book completely she is proud of that read. She doesn’t feel pride when she abandons books because she knows that she can finish it she just doesn’t have an interest for it. If she could throw a book out the window it would be the Hunger Games. She hated the way that it was over glorified because she found the book to be very predictable and that “the plot was trash.”

J’lynn loves the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. That book was the first book that that she was really expoused too and it was just a large part of her childhood. Her reading happy place was really anywhere but especially on the trolley on her way home. She said it is a nice way to end the day.

ILP Blog Post

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in Advisory Sophomore - Hull - adv on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 7:38 pm
My ILP is at the School District of Philadelphia in the Gear Up Office. I am an intern for one of the people who runs Gear Up. While interning at the Gear Up office I learned a lot of stuff relating to internships. While working at the the office I met a lot of influential people and I learned a lot about the schools in Philadelphia. In all my ILP is really influential and beneficial.

ILP // Gear Up office

I don't remember exactly the day I first went to my ILP but I went twice. My ILP is that I am an intern at the Gear Up office at the school district building. The first time I went was a meeting and that went really well. It went well because before the meeting there was a me when each team was collaborating and the team that I was in wanted to hear my opinion and wanted me to participate. I am looking forward to keep going to my ILP and to really learn what Gear Up does. Something that stands out is how open people are to hear other people's opinion. It is a very friendly environment. I think it is important that young students learn about college and the opportunities that are given to them.

What I learned

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 1 - Giknis - A on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7:54 am

For my You and the World project I did Stereotypes and Discrimination with Work and Education with a Disability. In my blog post #1 I just introduced my project. In my blog post #2 I talked about what I did for my original research.

I wish that I would’ve found a graduate from the special-ed classes from Edison High School. I would’ve been cool to talk to him/her.During this project I learned so much.

I think I would have rather done another project because I finished my project really early and then I had nothing else to do. But with my project I would have spaced out my project a lot better. I don’t really want to know a lot except one thing, I would like to know how people with disabilities live, i want to know how they live life. I wish I would have done another project because my project bored me a little bit. I had fun with it but then I didn’t at the same time.

I did have the impact that I wanted because I wanted my advisory to learn about my project and they did. I think that I should have put poster’s around the school and maybe I would have had  larger impact because then the school would have known about but I had the impact i wanted.

Stereotypes and Discrimination to people with Disabilities

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 1 - Giknis - A on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7:41 am

My first blog post was about me introducing my You and the World project which is Stereotyping and Discrimination with Work and Education with a Disability. I felt as though this topic was not cared for as much as it needed to be. For my second blog post  I wrote about the field research I did at Edison High School. I visited one of the special-ed classes and I learned a lot. I learned that they mostly focus on life-skills and have the opportunity to stay in high school till they’re 21.

For my agent of change I decided to do a advisory presentation. In my advisory presentation I added most of the information that I learned and talked about the rest. I wanted to do an advisory presentation because my advisory seemed to know nothing about it. I think that I was pretty successful in presenting to my advisory and I think they learned a lot. I did not necessarily want to do this as my agent of change but I did not know what I even wanted to do as my agent of change.

I think that I changed a lot during this project. It really taught me that  should never judge or discriminate anybody. I know that it is really cliche but it is true because even I was a little biased before this project. I really enjoyed during my project. I taught that it was a lot of fun and it was a great learning experience.I think that I could’ve done better just because I sort of rushed my project. I took no time, I knew what I wanted to do since the beginning and I took no brakes. I did my project really fast. I think the only thing that is left to do is to have everybody do their research and educate themselves about people with disabilities.

Amy Zeller's Class

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 1 - Giknis - A on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 9:52 pm

My You and the World project is Discrimination and Stereotypes between Work and Education with a disability. I want people to know that words hurt for everyone. People often discriminate people with disabilities thinking that they can’t do anything but they are so wrong. In my Blog Post#1 I focused more so on the discrimination of people with disabilities. During that Blog Post is when I really figured out what I want to do.

For my original research I went to Edison Ferreira High School. They generously let me observe and interact in one of their special education classes. I had the wonderful opportunity to be in Amy Zeller’s classroom. They only had a about 5 high school students in her class. Amy Zeller is a phenomenal person and teacher. She cares about her students and treats them the way the should be treated.  She treats them with respect and never tells them they can’t achieve something.

IMG_4737.JPG

This is a picture of two students going to the garden.

I learned that all you need is patience, patience is the key to getting through to these students. Yea sometimes you might get frustrated but you have to keep trying, the students deserve it. I know that I don’t really have experience but I witnessed people with experience and I saw the patience that the teachers had. The students I were with were so nice and inspiring. They never gave up on anything and when they messed up they tried and tried until they got it right.

IMG_4735.JPG

This is a picture of a student outside.

The students have a routine.

  • Monday is the day to clean.

  • Tuesday is the day to cook.

  • Wednesday is vocational training.

  • Thursday is community outing day.

  • Friday  recreational / Leisure / Art.

When I went to visit the class it was a Friday. That day was a special day because they had a different schedule, they went to Walmart and Lowes. When I was talking to Amy she said that when they go out they teach the students how to act when they are outside in public settings. They went to Walmart to buy bags for Mother’s day presents and to Lowes for flowers. They bought pink flowers for the mothers and other flowers for a memorial. That day they also cooked. They went to the garden and picked mint and also chopped up cucumber and zucchini. The students that are in the special education programs learn life skills.

I learned that the states allow students who have a disability to stay in school till they are 21. The dropout rate for a student with a disability is twice than an average student. In Ms.Zeller’s class the students’’ age averaged between 18-20. They all plan to stay until the age 21. Why is this school different from any other school? That I do not know but I do know that the students I saw were happy. When I talked to them they said they enjoyed school. Some girl even refused to leave at home. School is their second home and that is how school should be.

Check out my bibliography here!

Discrimination of Work and Education with a Disability

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in English 1 - Giknis - A on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 9:31 pm

The Passion, Information, Change is the You and the World project. This project is picking a topic that you feel very strongly about and finding a way to change the world. During this project you will go through three stages, the passion which is the issue, the information which is consistent throughout the project and is where you gather up all of your knowledge about your passion, and then the change which is where you make the difference.

My passion is work and education with a disability. I want to know why certain people’s disabilities are discriminated more than others. This issue is important because some people don’t think that discrimination with a disability is still going on but it is. The laws that are put in place to protect the disabled are not used to the fullest extent.

Some disabilities are discriminated more than others. Disabilities that are more physical are the ones that are targeted the most. Someone with  down syndrome is more likely to be discriminated than someone than dyslexia. There are both disabilities but down syndrome has a physical effect and people are more likely to judge.

There are laws that prevent discrimination if you have a disability. These laws are enforced so a qualified  individual is treated equally even if they are disabled. Finding a job is hard in itself but it is especially hard if you have a disability. The definition of a disability is a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities. Everybody is different, there is no need to judge someone because of the way they learn. Discrimination means the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.

Statistics show 36 million people have some type of disability. The percentage of someone having a disability and being employed is 4.6% in the United States.

Chart with percentages of disabled working individuals:http://www.dailyyonder.com/geography-disability/2011/11/29/3619

In some schools the disabled are separated from the rest. People with disabilities learn differently and they get modified classes because of it but that is only in some schools. This should be in all schools. In some cases children even get abused in their schools. Only 36% of students with a disability take special needs classes. Special needs children are not given the proper care that they need.

Picture saying all children can learn: https://weawayne.wordpress.com/

There are even stereotypes towards people with disabilities. Some are…

  • People with disabilities are always miserable

  • Should be treated differently

  • All deaf people can read lips

  • People with disabilities always need help

  • Always confined to a wheelchair

I want to go more into detail about this issue and know more information about it. I hope by reading this people understand a little more how much discrimination really happens to people with disabilities. I am looking forward to actually making a difference in our community and making a difference.

I feel like I did my ceiling half way right and I started of my window correctly. If I did this project again I would probably change my time management, I spent way too much time on one thing. I found Jonathan's drawing, I think his drawing is successful because he meets all of the requirements and he was almost finished. Plus it looks really nice. His drawing has the windows, table, chair, wall, and ceiling. I learned that is quit difficult.

Why Teens Should Know About Net Neutrality//Gonzalez-Ortiz

Posted by Elani Gonzalez-Ortiz in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - b2 on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 8:18 am

Well first off, net neutrality is that the Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. So why is this important for teens? Net neutrality is actually very important. Net neutrality is fairly important topic and people around the world are now wanting to learn more about it. Teens are our future’s next generation and technology is becoming  huge part of their lives. Teens today need to know about the internet and how to be safe on it. Teens should know about net neutrality so they can be safe and show other hw to be safe as well.

Net neutrality is here so it can keep all internet equal. This is important for teens to know so they can figure out what side they are on. You can be on Net Neutrality or the FCC. The FCC is the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC is trying to get you to pay more for “faster” internet. But it honestly is not faster. The only thing it does is mess up your internet, It makes the stuff you are trying you do take longer to load and buffer. Net neutrality is trying to stop the FCC, even President Obama is on net neutrality side.

This is an important issue for teens because they are the ones mostly being targeted. They are the ones who are almost always on the internet, it’s their second nature. They need to know what they are doing, how they are doing it, and how is it possible. The FCC  is trying to make you pay more for slower internet while net neutrality wants to make it all fair. This is an important topic and all teens should know about it.

Well I changed everything about my slide. First I added a picture with a light background. I also added the word family because that is what my slide is about.

Family and friends are a big part of my life. “I love my life and the ones in it.” I made my slide look the way it does because I thought that it would be cool to just have one picture describe me. The image also describes me in only a couple of words. I think that just seeing the picture as a whole made me want it. In my opinion the picture itself was enough for my slide and I didn't need anything else. I decided to make the words really big so everybody can see it and I decided to have the background white so you could see the words more clearly.
