Airport Security
Planes are a form of transportation that is very popular. This has led to security having to be enforced on planes in order to keep the passengers safe. But, sometimes safety goes too far. Sometimes those that are supposed to protect you are the ones that make you feel unsafe. The topic that I am talking about is Airport Security. Since Airports are a very big and populated space it is only right for their to be security. But security is too much at times. There should be less security for the main fact that it is a invasion of privacy. No person has the right to pat you down and scan your body. The whole point in wearing clothes to provide privacy, so therefore by patting someone down they no longer have any sense of privacy and it is as if they are not wearing clothes. Then you have body scanners. These scanners can make it seem as though the person being scanned is naked. Therefore the person being scanned has absolutely no sense of privacy anymore. The guard that you have never met before has seen you naked.
A airport security guard.
There are better methods that are more efficient. For example metal detectors. They can be used to detect any form of metal. Since metal is a thing that is found in most weapons it will be a very smart move to install extremely strong metal detectors. Now for the dangerous objects that are made out of materials such as plastic you can use dogs. You see since dogs are able to detect drugs then with the proper training they should be able to detect any dangerous chemical found in dangerous objects. A dog simply sniffing a person is much less invading then scanners that allow you to see people like they are naked. A dog simply sniffing a person is much more comfortable than a person thoroughly patting down another person. By patting someone down your are invading their privacy and feeling them. By a dog simply smelling someone they don’t even have to make physical contact with them. The dogs just have to be close enough that they can smell the dangerous chemicals. Another method is having a machine that only detects dangerous threats. This machine will scan the person but instead of giving the viewer a naked view of the person they will simply only see the dangerous chemicals. This method shows no invasion of privacy whatsoever and keeps all people at the airport safe.
People getting patted down.
The reason why I feel so strongly about this topic is that it has happened to me before. I have gone through a body scanner that made me feel shameful afterwards because the guards had then seen what my clothes hided. This experience has made me very passionate about airports being able to keep passengers safe without having to technically harass them. Therefore I want to educate the public on the belief that we should not be forced to go through harassing security measurements.

The brain is the most important part of a human body, it helps us learn and gain knowledge. By the help of forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain, we are able to do activities and focus on our regular daily basis. The brain also controls all systems of the body and is the key of every access of a human body. Imagine how our lifestyle would be without being able to do certain things. Brain Lesions is considered as one of the worst cases that is able to block brain structures and their functions
Brain Lesions are spotted to any type on the abnormal tissue, they can only be seen throughout on a brain imaging test in a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). They appear as small to large parts of the brain, which is a minor of life threatening. Lesions are caused by damages from an injury or diseases. As well as infections, problems with the immune system, exposed to certain chemicals, and many more. The symptoms are changes in eye vision or pain, nausea and vomiting, strong behavior, headaches, fever, seizures, and confusion. Brain Lesions are compared to brain tumors, the causes are usually unknown but are very complicated to handle. Such as, leading the way to deadly cancer and having high chances of suffering from trauma.
The brain is responsible for every process of the body. The two types of cells that forms the brain are neuron and gila. Most diagnosis of brain lesions are affected to a human by family background history or physically harm. It is to know that not all brain lesions are the same. Apparently, there are two different types of lesions called Abscesses and Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM). Both not similar to each other but are part of the causes in brain lesions. Abscesses are the infections in a brain tissue that includes pus and inflammation. It affects the areas near the ear, sinus, and even dental infection. Also, they present after an injury or surgery onto the skull. It’s uncommon to be affected but definitely very dangerous to handle. The Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM) begins in an early development. When arteries and veins grow in the brain, it becomes connected in tube structures that are called fistulae. Since the arteries are not strong as regular arteries in lesions, the veins are able to enlarge because of the flow of blood that directs itself through the fistulae. Overall, AVM can cause vessels to be fragile and may leak brain into the brain. Therefore, it would be unable to function and likely to create seizures.
Overall, It is to know that there are different types of brain lesions. Most treatments are different, depending on the case of the brain. As a patient, one may want to find a cure and to be treated. Going through a situation of being diagnosed with brain lesion, it’s not a pretty picture. The human body as a victim, will react to the uncomfortable feeling of being affect by different medications and attending visits to the hospital. The treatment goals are to cure, improving length of life, and relieve the symptoms of lesions. The way brain lesions are treated with an chemotherapy and radiation therapy, only for the lesions that are cancerous. The use of medications to treat brain lesions are antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs. They help to smooth and calm the immune systems but also to make the system react differently onto the body. It would be the only ways to prevent from brain lesions, unless if the lesions are strong, brain surgery must be performed.
People should be aware of brain lesions, it takes many forms and make a huge impact of a human being. The average of United States population of having brain lesions are 700,000 and 14,000 who are battling brain tumors. The most common ages of male and females to be affected are the ages 20 years and older. It would be best to decrease the rates and statistics. If a person have any more questions or can be related to the symptoms should contact their doctor or research more information online. Together, we can live a better lifestyle without any pain and suffocation.
Something that is a bit confusing to my audience may be the lincoln after death photo. The reason I chose that picture is to show that long after his (or anyones) death his legacy will live on and the way that they made people feel will have an everlasting affect.
I'm so very proud of all our amazing filmmakers for their achievements!

I am choosing animal abuse because there are a lot of people around the world abusing animals. There are too many people using animals to take advantage of them just because they may make one small mistake.
In “The Taming of the Shrew”, honesty and deception play big roles in the relationships between the characters, especially Petruchio and Katherine, as well as Katherine and her father, Baptista. In the 2012 movie “ Silver Linings Playbook,” honesty and deception are even more important — almost every important thing that happens is rooted in honesty or a lack thereof.
Pat Solatano, Jr. is a diagnosed bipolar who has just been released from prison following his beating of his wife’s lover. Tiffany Maxwell is a recovering sex addict whose husband has recently died. While the relationship between Pat Solatano, Jr. and Tiffany Maxwell can be compared to Petruchio and Katherine’s, the genders should be reversed. In “Shrew,” Petruchio uses very manipulative tactics to eventually end up with Katherine’s love. Likewise, in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Tiffany manipulates Pat, making him think that her end goal is something completely different from what it is. In contrast, Pat Solatano is not aware of Tiffany’s goals until almost the end of the movie, while Katherine most likely knows Petruchio’s plans from the beginning. Both of these stories show that, while manipulation is not always moral, the results can be good for both the manipulator and the manipulated.
Petruchio: Come, come, you wasp, i’faith you are too angry.
Katherine: If I be waspish, best beware my sting.
Petruchio: My remedy is then to pluck it out.
Katherine: Ay, if the fool could find where it lies.
Petruchio: Who knows not where a wasp does wear his sting? In his tail.
Katherine: In his tongue.
Petruchio: Whose tongue?
Katherine: Yours, if you talk of tales, and so farewell.
Petruchio: What, with my tongue in your tail?
(Act II, Scene I, 207-214)
In this scene, Petruchio and Katherine are first meeting. While on the surface they are insulting and trying to intimidate each other, they are also hinting at the physical or sexual attraction between them using innuendos. This represents deception and manipulation, because they are hiding their true meaning behind clever words.
Pat, Jr. and Tiffany also have a strange first conversation:
In this scene, Pat and Tiffany are meeting for the first time at Pat’s friend Ronnie’s house. Pat remarks that Tiffany looks nice, and soon after asks about her dead husband, which spurs an awkward and somewhat hostile conversation between the two. However, during the conversation, they are both giving each other somewhat heated looks. When Tiffany leaves the room, she gives Pat a sultry look, implying her unspoken intentions, just like Katherine and Petruchio.
Thus in plain terms: your father hath consented
That you shall be my wife, your dowry ‘greed on,
And will you, nill you, I will marry you…
Here comes your father. Never make denial.
I must and will have Katherine to my wife.
(Act 2, Scene 1, 261-272)
In this scene, Petruchio has recently spoken to Baptista, Katherine’s father, and gotten his consent to marry her. This was a very deceptive act, because Katherine thought that her father would at least talk to her before doing such a thing. This is incredibly dishonest, of both Petruchio and Baptista.
However, in the long run, this might have been good for Katherine; she ends up seemingly happy and “tamed” at the end of the story.
In this scene, Tiffany shows Pat the envelope that supposedly has a response from Nikki in it, but says that he cannot read it until he nails the dance they are working on. In the end of the movie, it comes out that Tiffany actually wrote the letter. This was an incredibly dishonest and pretty manipulative thing to do, but in the end, seemingly caused Pat to fall in love with her.
Tell us a bit about your digital story, what did you set out to do?
I set out to make people think about what they overlook.
How did you accomplish this goal?
I want to accomplish my goal by making this video and pointing out the things I noticed about myself.
What do you hope your audience gains for viewing/listening your piece?
I hope everyone takes a second to think about what they overlook.
Hello I am Asher Swartz, creator of the fictional "The Confederate Life" newspaper. This is a fictional newspaper set in the Reconstruction period following the American Civil War. A brief overview of the contents of this fictional newspaper (brief disclaimer: I do not inherently agree with the viewpoints expressed in these articles and this newspaper. They are merely fictional ideas I wished to express.): It is called The Confederate Life (as I'm sure you understand by now) and it features two main, one age long each articles. One is titled “Dirty Carpetbagger” (carpetbaggers were northerners who moved to the South after the American Civil War to benefit financially) and the other one is titled “Honorable Gentleman”. These are articles written by someone very mad about the American Civil War and Reconstruction in general and is venting their anger by writing newspaper articles promoting Southerners and bashing Northerner carpetbaggers. They each contain quotes from a main person. The Northerner is Marshall Harvey Twitchell, a Civil War veteran who lived in the South, a self proclaimed carpetbagger. The Southerner in question is Edwin H. McCaleb, a supporter of the Confederacy. The quotes are from an autobiography for Twitchell and a letter to a friend for McCaleb. The articles use these quotes, and the author rants on about this that and the other thing. End of summary. Now, there may be some points that cause some form of confusion for some readers, and I would like to clear these up. First, there are only two main articles. Everything else is for context. Secondly, once again, this is purely fictional. Everything besides the quotes themselves is completely made up. To finish up, I will tell you why this is important. Even though this is fictional, it is a representation of something that might have existed. Its just an example of how people might have thought.
How did you accomplish this goal?
I told my story...my unique story. Hopefully one or two of my viewer's could relate.
What do you hope your audience gains for viewing/listening your piece?
I don't want anyone to gain this new hatred for valentine's day but I do want people to think about how interesting it is for certain relationships to die off or have things die off on you in a short matter of time.
The message that I attempted to get across was the idea that there will always be two opposing sides in EVERY situation. That being said, I also tried the emphasise the fact there can never be in any form a way of successful equality. In fact the closest thing that we have to being equal is fact that we are all mammals. Another lense that I attempted to look through was this idea on an “equalizer”. By this I mean leveling the central rights between both sides during the reconstruction era. And It may sound like a little much, but connect this topic to a more relatable instance in our modern society where something that is greater is being changed by an equalizer. The problem isn't whether or not it is unfair for the thing that is greater. The real issue is that fact that it's problematic on both sides because they are being equalized. So then what do we consider it? Is this really a reconstruction for the better? After doing this project I realized the radical perspectives in literally everything. In a sense it was almost troublesome looking at different situations and noticing the shift between good and bad (As cheesy as it sounds).
On top of that I’ve noticed that something that may appear to be confusing is the history behind my idea. The whole point of my magazine was to not only highlight the opposing side, but it was more of a thinking activity, and less of a learning experience if that makes sense?Artist Statement:
This is a newspaper that was published on the day after Lincoln’s funeral. To be clear, Booth escaped and was tracked down on a farm in Virginia, and that the police who were suppose to protect Lincoln was in a nearby saloon with Lincoln’s coachman. This is suppose to be a newspaper that would teach people about what happened. This newspaper includes how Lincoln was killed, what are the elements of this tragedy, how people mourned the death of our great president Lincoln, and many more. It also talk about the problems Andrew Johnson faced as the president at the time of period. Lincoln was a great man, he had done a lot for Black peoples, he signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the slaves, and he end the war of slaves too. He also start the reconstruction right after the war, giving every African American forty acres of land and a mule / 100 bucks to build a house. He affected the African American, and his death affected them even more. His death stopped reconstruction basically. Andrew Johnson was the president after Lincoln, he didn’t care about reconstruction as much as Lincoln did, and he have lots of stuff to deal with. Like the southerners protesting about the African Americans, African Americans in the congress and etc. Anything He done could have affect the African Americans’ position in society, not only in the late 1800s, but also in the 1900s, and now a day. If the issue was take care of even more properly, may be here won’t be as much case of white cop shooting or killing black peoples for basically no reason, like how it is now.
