For my CapStone, I  built furniture for Science Leadership Academy Middle School at the public workshop. The Public Workshop is an innovative participatory community that works with me and other volunteers in local communities. At the Public Workshop, I am taught how to use various hand and power tools to design and build projects while developing my woodworking skill, By doing this project I too learned how to use and function various tools that I will use in my engineering career that I plan to pursue. This Capstone enabled me to provide the middle school with furniture that so that the students would have a place to sit outside. In addition, I created furniture for inside Science Leadership Academy Middle School.

A Whole New World

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 3 · Pahomov · B Band on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 11:08 pm

Beep Beep Beep,  Beep  Beep  Beep,  Beep Beep Beep. The alarm clock informed me that it was 7:00 in the morning, the first day of school. When I first heard those few loops from my alarm clock I was really frustrated not because I had to go to school but more because of the fact that I was up all night because I was nervous yet excited for the first day of school. I finally got out of bed at about 7:10 and got dressed and of course I had to wear something nice or agreeable because I wanted to make a good impression. I was done changing, brushing my teeth, etc. Due to the fact that SEPTA was not something that I enjoyed for a way to commute, my mother thought that it would be a nice idea to drive me to school because it was the first day. I lived less than a mile away from school so the car ride was going to be short. As we were in the car I thought about how will it be different from my middle school, and if the teachers will be less strict. For example, I thought back when I shadowed SLA the teachers seemed to be more friendly than the teachers at my middle school. Although I did not know if some of them really were or if they acted like that because I was a shadow. When we got closer towards the school on 30th and Market, I began to get a weird array of mixed feelings. The feelings that I began to develop were both excited and nervous feelings and this combination made me not know how tell what I was expecting. Before I knew it, we were a block away from school and I had to grab my bag and get ready to hop out of the car. I was then right in front of the school and the car stopped, my mom wished me luck and I opened the car door and was by Science Leadership Academy. I walked toward the entrance of the school and then opened up to doors to my new school and a fresh start.

I went to middle school at Girard Academic Music Program which is also known as GAMP. GAMP was a school that went from grades fifth to twelfth. During my years at Gamp I made some new friends and met pretty chill people. I enjoyed how everyone seemed to all be friends and not cause that much problems amongst each other.  For example, in seventh grade the whole grade had a fundraiser to help children in Uganda achieve a better education and I found that very interesting and a great life experience. Also every year GAMP would have a Talent show, musical, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert due to the fact that it was a music school.  When it was time to decide if I should stay I knew that GAMP was not a good choice for me. Starting off, GAMP was a very small school because it had only had about 60 students per grade and I did not enjoy that at all because you never meet new people and it made my social life in school less diverse. In addition, GAMP highs school was just like the middle school. It had two groups that would stay in the same classes as each other and it had no electives. Lastly, GAMP was a music focused school and I was not interested in music.

The whole transition phase from middle school to high school started in a way that I remember it very detailed.  I remember the time that I found out that was accepted in SLA like it was yesterday. It all started when I was with my 8th grade class on a tour bus for a trip to New York. On the bus ride my mother was my chaperone and she then gave me the news and sad “Hey Jamal I was just talking to the principal of SLA and he said that you were accepted!” I was very pleased because it was my number one choice of schools to go. In addition the fact that I was waitlisted to ⅘ of the schools that I choose including SLA made me even more happy because I was very lucky to get that waitlisted spot. During the long bus ride to New York, not did I only feel happy that I was going to go to SLA but I did not really express the fact on how grateful I was. Reflecting back on this particular moment really questions who I really was back then because deep inside I felt very happy, but I on the outside i just treated this moment not as a big deal and made it seem like it was a minor moment of my day. Although I was very excited and happy about the fact that I finally had the chance to leave middle school and start my high school experience.

The earliest memories I can recall about my transition in Science Leadership Academy was the Summer Institute where it is a few weeks before school and I am already being asked to participate in it’s activities. I do not know anybody here which starts to annoy me even more. As I walk into the building all I can think is why I am here. When I finally get signed in I am asked to take a seat anywhere on a side of the cafeteria because the other side was for SLA Beeber.  When I sat down there were two types of people in the room. In the cafeteria there were people that wanted to make to friends that were talking to others. On the other hand, there was people that were on their phone who distanced themselves from everybody else. I was on my phone because I figured that I really don’t need to make friends because I will make them when school actually starts because this is just the summer institute. Before I get a chance to get a good five minutes to sit down and look around, I am told to get up with the rest of the SLA students. We are told how to play a game and I vaguely remember how it went. Although, I remember that we were told to pretend that we were animals who evolved and it was very weird. We had to make weird noises and move around crazily like as if we were told if we did not stop moving we would die. When the game was finally over the student instructor told us to move on told our next activity in a normal tone as if what we just did was completely usual and not odd at all. At this point I then knew that events abnormal and strange as this one will be ordinary during my next few years at SLA and they were.

Getting back on topic, a lot of important moments took place on the first day of school. As I was walking through those two glass doors a person greeted me at the front desk. This person informed me what room to go too which was my advisor’s class in the library. When advisory started in the morning we did not need to introduce ourselves because we all met each other at the summer institute. We were then given our rosters and  informed what classes to go. I was then introduced to my stream where we had our first class together. Our first class was Bio- Chem and I already could tell how different it was compared to GAMP. Every student was not wearing the same uniform which made the environment not seem negative and grey but rather diverse. The curriculum that was taught during class was more hands on and we had more freedom due to the fact that we're not in single desk divided in rows. During lunch I met up with a couple people in my stream that I recognized from my baseball league and we talked for a while. From here things got a little interesting. Me and a few people from my stream that I met were walking downstairs and in the stairwell we met up with people from another stream. I do not recall why we were staying there be was began to do so. We were joking around then somebody threw milk at somebody else. “Yo bro, I did not think it was going to bust open! I'm really sorry” I did not possibly know what was going to happen next. Would there be a fist-fight or even food-fight? At first the person who had milk on their shoes was pretty mad but then we began to laugh and today we are all very good friends and look back at this moment on how we all met each other.

As the first few days of SLA went by not only did I experience a new education, but a new social life. Everyday after school me and the new friends that I made would have something to do. The was a big change for me because in middle school after school I would just get on the yellow school bus and go home. My life after school went from the same boring routine to a more collective and thrilling afternoon. For example, after school me and my friends decided to hang out. We all did not know what to do as usual but the one of my friends shouts “Comcast”! I was very confused and did not know what was exactly in the building it was at the time but I agreed that we should go there because it would give us something to do. The reason why I stated this point was because I am the type of person who always has to be stimulated in some sort of way and by giving me something to do rather than nothing was a pleasure. When we arrived at the Comcast building I said to my friends “So where what exactly are we going to do here because it seems to be a play that is not for the public.” We then walked downstairs where there was a food court and it all made sense. We got some food and joked around then from here we got bored and did not know what to do. I do not recall why by we then  though it would be a great idea to go to Chinatown afterwards. Due to the fact that I was new at public transportation, I let my friends lead the way to the  regional rail train to Chinatown. The fact that we took the regional rail train shows how inexperienced my friends and I were because it would have been much easier to take the Market-Frankford Line. We all began to notice that the train ride was taking oddly long just to got to Chinatown so we  I began to have feeling that we took the wrong train and we did. The train exited the tunnel and I heard “You have arrived at Temple station”. All I could think is that we messed up big time and how to get back to Center City. Once we found out by one of the conductors that we just have to take the train in the opposite direction to 15th St we began to laugh. This moment really was a wake-up call that the school life that I will be living after school will not be as simple as it used to be and that I will be experiencing my social life in a new environment. In addition, I will be experiencing it more independently than with a bus driver and a bus full of middle schoolers.

When coming to SLA the largest alter that I had to get used to where the academic class. In middle school homework was pretty light and rarely was up past 10:00 doing homework. Although at SLA homework was pretty complicated. We had to submit it on a website called canvas and we did almost all of our work on the computers that we were provided. The class that really made me realize that things will no longer be like they used to was Geometry. I was always not great at math but Geometry really frustrated me because I was put in that class even though I was not academically prepared and I was supposed to be in Algebra 1. I remember saying to my advisor “Mr. Ames, I really think that I need to be with rest of the average ninth graders because I am not advanced in math and happen to struggle in it.” He mentioned that it was just a phase for starting high school and I will eventually overcome it, but I did not. The challenge of math in SLA refined my whole my entire mindset and it is something that I still struggle with today. For example, due to the fact that I fell behind in geometry, I was not prepared for Algebra 2 which leads to why I am so weak in Pre-Calculus. This is an example of how even my transition from middle school from high school is over its impacts to this very day.

Mankind's Defeat by Meat

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 3 · Pahomov · B Band on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:27 pm

Farmers have past down the farms to their families for generation which is a normal for most areas in rural United States today. Over the past centuries in the U.S. farming specifically animals has been prevalent and it is considered to be traditional . Although, as time passes so does the economy and need for a higher profit. Factory farming plays a huge role in impacting the condition of mankind. Farmers are making more efficient and more cheap ways to sell their animal produce. The way can lead to deforestation, air pollution, water pollution, fossil fuel, carbon emissions, and monocultures. When these farmer do this the tend to treat the animals with less care and humanity. This often leads to a lot of controversies and on farms of the treatment of animals but because of the more efficient and more cheap ways of getting animal produce which is factory farming.

Over 90% of the United States meat come from factory farms according to The Huffington Post. But are on the human scale, how much of an impact do the have of the health of people? Scientists have stated that noxious chemicals that are found in animal waste and preservatives can lead to the development of neurological problems and even birth defects. Furthermore factory farms can cause bacterial infection to the human body. For example, more than 50 percent of employees from Delmarva Peninsula in Maryland were infected with campylobacter, which is a type of fatal bacteria according to Dr. Ellen Silbergeld. Overall, most animals are treated very unsanitary which is unhealthy to the human body.

Even though, humans are impacted by factory farming in the ecosystem and depend on many animals for a source of food, animals also have a role in the ecosystem too. Without other farming animals such as cows, pigs, and chickens humans would remain to be vegetarian and would eat more healthy. For this reason, these animals portray why animals are impacting humans in the ecosystem. According to sustainabletable.org most animals from factory farms today do live not even up to 2 years. For example, pigs live up to 10-12 years in average natural lifespan but in factory farms they only life about 4-6 months, egg laying chickens live up to 8-12 years in average natural lifespan but in factory farms they only life about 18 months, and cattle lives up to 20-25 years in average natural lifespan, but in factory farms they only life about 12-18 months. Eventually, most animals factory farmed will develop stronger antibiotic resistant bacteria which will lower the population of a lot these animals in the ecosystem. These statistics mean that the animals that tend to be born and live factory farms in the United States have a lifespan the are impacted negatively due to the fact that the lives of the animals are almost quartered. Therefore, factory farming also reduced the lifespan of a large population of animals in the ecosystem.

In conclusion, factory farming plays a huge role in impacting the condition of today's ecosystem. Overall, the impact of factory farming has a negative impact on the mankind. While factory farming does save time and helps farmer gain a profit easily and would financially benefit from factory farming. Although, the animals in factory are treated very unsanitary which is unhealthy to the human body which harms the human race a lot in the ecosystem. In addition, humans that are impacted by eating the animals from factory farms which also impact the animal. Due to the fact that humans purchase and consume the animals, this causes company to make more efficient and more cheap ways. These methods of factory farming lower the lifespan of the animals.

When it come to reading, Quran is pretty neutral. He slightly enjoys reading but also really does not care for it. For example, if Quran was asked to read in his free time it would not be something that he enjoys, but he also would not mind it. Just like most people Quran does have a known weakness when he reads. At times he reads over the words in the book and does not comprehend what he is reading.

Quran is a gifted reader and does not have a problem ready any type of book, except for the book ‘The Life of a Slave Girl’. This book is the worst book Quran has ever read he even would like to throw it out of a window. On the other hand Quran still has a sympathy for books. Quran loved the book green eggs and ham when he was younger and still does till this very day.

I have an ILP at ACE architecture. So far it is going pretty great. At my intership we are working on a park in south philly with architects that work for the city. Also, we are making template designs of the park with the other students.

Reflection Perfection

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 1 - Giknis - X on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 6:27 pm

I did my you and the world project on animal abuse and neglect. I wish that I would have found a lot more because I did not find at much as I planned to find. One thing that I wish that would found is more information about factory farming because it came to me at the last minute and I did not have much time to work on it. Also, I wish I found at least eight topics on animal abuse because I only found at five topics. Another point that I to mention is that I want to know more about why animal abuse is not taken as seriously to most issues in the world today.

My original research went bad but also good in a way. The reason why I say this is because my goal was to gather  how much my school knows about animals abuse. Instead, I gathered how much my school did not know about animals abuse because the majority of the people who took my survey failed. Although, I did find out how many people were not educated which informed me and that is a good thing. One that I would make change is the difficulty of my survey because it might of been to hard. Also, I would of interviewed someone who works at the ASPCA instead. I would of done this because now it seems more easier and informational than a survey.

I actually had more of an impact that I expected. I thought that nobody was going to bother to look and visit my website but instead a lot of people did and it educated them. Just look at my website blogs for example. I received comment that “It was a very informative website. Before entering this website I thought that animal abuse was simply just pet owners hitting/starving there pets. Now I am aware of the different types such as animal testing and circus abuse. In addition, I hoped for people to get educated and from my comments I learned that a lot of people did.

My Insight of the Website

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 1 - Giknis - X on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:42 pm

On my first blog post I basically described what I chose for my You and the World is the issue of animal abuse. I chose this topic than any other one because I have a lot of history with understanding animals that were abused and I want to educate the public about the topic. Also, I see animals as living creatures just like humans are living creatures.  Animal abuse is simply when an animal gets harmed, neglected, and/or a does not care for an animal responsibly by a person. In other words, to hurt or to be cruel to an animal would be against the law no matter what.  This the significance of the public being aware of the issue is really serious.

On my last blog post I described my survey for my original research and why I did it. I collected data on a survey so I can educate the public about animal abuse because my main goal was to educate the public. Unfortunately, the results helped inform me on my You and the World issue because this research show how uneducated the public is about the issue of animal abuse. The average person would fail my survey! This added to my understanding of animal abuse that a lot of people do not take animal abuse seriously. When I was done my research I had some strong personal opinions on how people did on my survey and I was disappointed. For example,  the average grade for my survey is a failing grade. One thing that I was still wondering about was why my community is so uneducated about animal abuse.

In my research,  one thing that has been done raise awareness of your issue and to elicit positive change was making a website like the one I did. I made this website for my school because when I did my survey the majority of the people who took it failed. The point of it was to educate the public because it contain all kinds of facts about animal abuse. Another thing that has been are currently being done yearly to raise awareness of  my issue is animal abuse awareness month. During the month (which happens during april) you are asked to wear bright orange to grab people's attention and when they ask you why you are wear a bright orange shirt you say that it is for animal abuse awareness. My opinion on these ways on change are agreeable but wearing an orange shirt it not going to be the only way to change. In my opinion wearing a orange shirt will make people aware of the issue but it will not lead them to make change. For example, if a lot people went to government building and demand for stricter laws for animal abuse then that would probably get people to change.

As I said earlier in the blog for my agent of change I pursued  to make a website. The reason why I did made this website  was because when I sent out a survey to my teachers and classmates about animal abuse and the majority of the people who took the survey failed. Therefore, after that I came up with the idea to make a website to educate the public about animal abuse so my peers in school would be more informed about it. My website contained to inside and outs of animal abuse. This website informs the reader about topics such as factory farming, dog & cockfighting, animal testing, and circus abuse.

This is a screenshot of me working on a software to create my website.

My change has not been so big but I at least informed so people about animal abuse so you could say that I have made multiple changes. Just look at this screenshot of these comments for example. In addition, these comments made me feel great through this project I learned that I not only made a website to inform people but to make them more aware. As I was making this website I learned that if I put in a lot of hard-work and time that things can get done the way that you want them to. Also, I learned that now some students in my school are more educated about animal abuse than ever before. One thing that I feel like I could have done better was to start the website earlier because it could have looked so much more professional. For example, I could have found more research on different types of animal abuse. One thing that has to change is how seriously people take animal abuse. Although, there were many people who learned a lot about animal abuse, I noticed that people still do not take it as seriously.

Educate the Uneducated!

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 1 - Giknis - X on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 7:24 pm

For a recap the project that I chose for my PIC is the issue of animal abuse.

The issue of animal abuse does not only have negative impact on animals but it does a negative effect on humans. When someone abuses an animal they may be an more likely to cause violence. Also, if a child witnesses animal abuse they are at greater risk of becoming abusers themselves! Moving on, if you think that think that animals were only abuse in the one physical way you obviously never heard of the brutal acts of factory farming and Circuses. 99% of the food that come from farms are from factory farms which are focused on getting money, what is easier, spending the least amount of money at the price of the animal's’ life. Also, another example of heartless groups are circuses because the beat, whip, sometimes denied food and water, all to force them to learn their routine. This leads to diseases, damage, injuries and death of the animals.

As seen in the image above animals are forced to do tricks that there body is not meant to do.

For my original research I planned to collected data on a survey so I can  educate the public really is about animal abuse because my main goal is to educate the public. Unfortunately, according to the survey I took not that much people are informed of animal abuse. For example,

  • 10/23 people got question #1 right

  • 9/23 people got question #2 right

  • 3/23 people got question #3 right

  • 21/23 people think that animal abuse is a big issue.

  • 17/23 people are aware of factory farming.

  • 5/23 people are aware of animal testing.

Survey Results

The results helped inform me on my PIC issue because this research show how uneducated the public is about the issue of animal abuse.  The average person would fail my survey! Which brings to help out the issue of animal abuse and you have to educate the public so that they know what they are dealing with. This added to my understanding of animal abuse that a lot of people do not take animal abuse seriously.

Now that I have done my research I have some strong personal opinions on how people did on my survey. First of all, I would like to say that I am more disappointed than mad. For example, somebody really had the nerve to say that dog and cock fighting should not be banned because it has been a culture for many years and that would be horrible if it was banned. Also, the average grade for my survey is a failing grade. One thing that I am still wondering about is why my community is so uneducated about animal abuse. In addition, I still need to find more information on what drives a person to abuse an animal. I am thinking of of making a website for my as my Agent of Change part for Blog #3 because I know how to make one and it can easily educate the public. Furthermore, for my website I will be interviewing some employees at the SPCA for a page for my website.

PAWS … That is Not Right!!!!!!

Posted by Jamal Hampton in English 1 - Giknis - X on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:24 pm

PAWS … That is Not Right!

Many people think that animal abuse is just when an animal gets harmed by a human, then person gets charged and everything is fine. Well, that is not how things are. Animal abuse is way more detailed than a person just harming your pet. Therefore, throughout this project I will be informing the public that animal abuse is a way bigger issue than our community views it. I am interested and prefer to use this topic than any other one because I have a lot of history with animals that were abuse and simply to educate the public. Furthermore, I see animals as living creature, humans are living creatures, in the end I view most animals the way I view strangers. I am also interested because lately overheard people talking about a dog getting brutally abused by it owners and the person talking did not know what to do at all.

This picture is a picture of a circus elephant get chained up tightly and forced to stand against its will.

Now lets get to the bigger and more general picture. If you never heard of animal abuse or just simply do not know what it is it is when an animal gets harmed, gets neglected, and does not care for an animal responsibly by a person. For instance, a if person was cruel and took their anger out on their own pet that would still be illegal and inhumane. Also, To hurt or to be cruel to an animal would be against the law no matter what.

This shows how big of a difference between the dogs life when it was neglected and saved. Notice how grateful and happy he or she looks!

This the significance of the public being aware of the issue is really serious. The issue of animal abuse does not only have negative impact on animals but it does a negative effect on humans. When someone abuses an animal  they may be an more likely to cause violence. Also, if a child witnesses animal abuse they are at greater risk of becoming abusers themselves!  Moving on, if you think that think that animals were only abuse in the ways I you obviously never heard of the brutal acts of factory farming. When you buy food products from an animal such eggs, milk, and meats 99% of the time they are from factory farms. Factory farms are focused on getting money, what is easier, spending the least amount of money at the price of the animals’ life because they are heartless and greedy. For example, they genetically alter animals’ bodies so they can grow extra limbs. Another example is that  some animals for meat are chained up inside so they can never see the sunlight and there bones are so weak the literally can’t stand up. In the end, I just want to put out there that animals abuse is so much more to me and this is only the beginning.

This images show how bad factory farms are because they keep multiple animals is a little lot.

As I am wrapping this up I am still thinking a lot.  Would people still look at animal abuse as a useless topic to push away and forget about or would they look as it really informed and serious now. For example, would a person who thought the world had bigger problems now look at animal abuse as a serious issue that we need to fix. I am hoping that I could talk more about the topic because I know so much more types of animal abuses such as animal testing, puppy mills, slaughterhouses, circuses and so much more.

  • a. What do you feel like you accomplished with your final drawing?  (keeping the rubric in mind. 20pts. - back wall, 20pts. side wall, 20pts. ceiling, 20pts. floor, 20pts. table/chair = 100pts.

I feel like I have accomplished with your final drawing a lot of new art skills when I was drawing. The art skills that I accomplished are learning how to draw from a person’s vision point perspective. Overall, I think that I should get a low B because I tried on the windows and wall but I did not have enough time I think could have been a little better.

  • b. What would you change or differently if you could do this project again?

If I had to change or do something differently or if I could do this project again I  would take the project home and work on it there so I could have time to do it I hopefully finish it correctly.

  • c. Find a drawing on the wall that you think is successful. Describe it. Why is it successful?

I think that Ryan’s drawing is successful it has everything that is required and for extra he even colored it in.

  • d. What did you learn about one point perspective?

I learned alot about one point perspective. First of all, when I came to this school I did not know what one point perspective was. I learned that one point perspective is a type of drawing that has a single vanishing point, usually  directly opposite the viewer's eye and usually on the horizon line.

New Slide

Posted by Jamal Hampton in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - b1 on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 3:18 pm
I changed my slide because it looked really out of  place and complicated. For example, the slide had a quote text and it also had a background text and I was told that it makes it hard to read the slide and it is very distractible. In addition to this I also deleted my quoted and the background text and made the background text the primary one. In conclusion, I changed the slide so that it can be simpler and easier to read.

Net Neutrality

Posted by Jamal Hampton in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - b1 on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 4:58 pm

Net Neutrality is important for teens to now. For an analogy teens would want to know that if they would they are living in an equal world or not. Which leads me to my statement why would they not need to know that their internet is not beginning distributed to them equally. Teens should know when the are getting ripped of and not. In addition, this makes me question why would companies want to give us less internet for more money.

For many Americans has become so much a part of the lives. Whether it is Using it on their computers ,phones, ipods/mp3s, gaming consoles , and more. About 84.2% of the population (2013) used the internet. A portion of those people are teens. Most teens use the internet mostly  on their video game consoles and smartphone leads me to my statement. Teens need to know about net neutrality because if one day the randomly want to go on youtube and they have perfect connection and suddenly their I.S.P decide to slow their internet down they need to know what their I.S.P is doing.

Teens today are growing up and they are hitting the age where they can speak up. They should question why is this website blocked if I am paying for it. Most teens in America know that they have freedom of speech in America in a way. So which means we should also be allowed to say what ever we want on the internet because we are paying for our I.S.Ps and this is America. In addition, teens need the internet to learn and whent I.S.Ps slow down and block websites on the internet that just make learnig harder for them.

JAMAL'S SLIDE

Posted by Jamal Hampton in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - b1 on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 5:59 pm
Why did you make the slide look the way it does? What influenced your decision making?

First of all, this slide has a background picture and a quote by me. I chose this background image because it represents how powerful technology can be used in our lives in a harmful way. The quote gives and example how modern day society is a affected by technology. Now I chose this topic for my slide it is affecting my life and life in general. Before everything used to be more natural and simple now things have to be complicated. For example, I remember when I could always hangout with and talk to my cousin when I visited him. Now he is always on his tablet and hardly gets off and talk to me when me and my family visit.

Technology is hands down my favorite thing. Without it I would not be typing this up now because I would not have a laptop or technology class. Therefore, the way my favorite thing (technology) affects society inspired and influenced me to make it as my topic for the slide.

Home Network, HAmpton

Posted by Jamal Hampton in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - b1 on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 9:58 pm
My home internet service provider is Comcast. Comcast also provides television and a home phone. The wire that connects me to the internet is an ethernet cable that is in my living room.  It connects to my router which distributes the wireless internet. Then the ethernet cable, goes to the third floor and connect my desktop. The wifi provides internet for 3 laptops, 3 smartphones, 2 kindles, 2 gaming systems, and 1 wireless printer. I did not have an OMG moment because I already knew all about my home network since it is 50% of my life. I would tell people that they are probably paying way to much for the wifi.
