Cashmere Harvey’s Capstone

Posted by Cashmere Harvey in Capstone · Clapper/Spry · Wed on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 4:35 pm

The thing that inspires me most is those who advocate for firearms and gun violence to be taken off the streets. I have things that I am passionate about in my personal life but I decided to base my capstone around something that I had never talked about or expressed my feelings on rather than doing a project on a topic i had previously spoken about. This Capstone/Video will give the audience the chance to dig deeper inside the meaning of BLACK LIVES MATTER, how hurt and destroyed families become when they hear that their loved one has been taken away from them due to a bullet.

MarNae's Capstone "Philly 4 You"

Posted by MarNae Penn in Capstone · Clapper/Spry · Wed on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 10:46 am

I decided to focus on helping African American teenagers around the city by assisting them in learning that there are good things about the city. Here, I helped create a program where we got to discover a different section of the city. We organized bookbag drives, helped local law enforcement agencies, etc. There were also a few different field trips that took place. I wanted to show teens that being in a police officer’s presence wasn’t as bad as they thought. Growing up in this city many African American teens were faced with the hardships of losing close friends and family members. I also partnered with a police chief to reach out to non-profit organizations that offered therapy sessions.

Lianna's BeautyLash

For my capstone project, I wanted to do something I see myself doing in the future which is lashing. I chose this because it’s something that makes me happy and something that makes me feel good about myself whenever I get it done. Also, I wanted to go more in-depth about how lash extension contributes to today’s beauty standards because people just don’t get their lashes done because they just want it. Just like for me I get my lashes done because it boosts my confidence. I feel like a whole different person in a good way. That’s why I wanted to learn more about how to be a lash tech so I can help myself by building a career for myself and helping people feel prettier.

Sahar's Cookbook

Summary

Over the last 2 years, I have been interested in Culinary Arts. My capstone focuses on sharing new food ideas with others. The mixed cuisine that is shown in my E-book, are foods that I put together from experience working at different culinary establishments. I recently began working with a catering company that is helping me in achieving my ultimate goals of, finally getting experience in an actual kitchen, and becoming a chef. I want to share my experience from the last 2 years through food and recipes that I have perfected and learned, from mentors that have guided me with intent. As a result of this guidance, I decided on a capstone project solely based on the results of the lessons I have already learned and will continue to learn.

Jingyu Liu Capstone

Over the last four years, I’ve worked in the Chinese Youth Organization Project (CYOP) as a committee member and intern. I work with other youth and mentors. Sometimes working with people around my age is hard because everyone is so strong on their own ideas. The experience I had throughout working with others inspired me to choose Communication as my topic for my capstone. I decided to create a workshop about Communication. I researched the different types of communication and some tips on communicating. Finally, I planned the entire workshop and presented on CYOP ‘s school year events to other youths.

Before I drew the design for the school co-mascot, I had no idea of what the mascot could look like. I did research on many different spacesuits that I could use for my mascot. After my research was done, I created a Google Survey where students could select what color the mascot should be and select a particular spacesuit that they like. 4 days later, I got what everybody voted for. I didn’t know what drawing style I wanted to go for, so I tried making an accurate drawing that resembled the image, but I ended up not liking it. The more I drew, the more conceptual drawings I came up with.

This isn’t just another mascot, I want every SLA student to look up to a mascot that they can see themselves in. If we have a Rocket mascot, why not have an Astronaut mascot as well? This mascot represents self-discovery. If astronauts are able to explore space, why can’t students explore and make their own personal space?

Where I come from, the youth depend on hobbies to get them through life as they get older and a common hobby while growing up in the city of Philadelphia is playing sports. From Peewee Little Leagues, to Pop Warner for elementary, middle schoolers, and freshman, and then working on your game to becoming a bright high school football player. As you get older, the priority of becoming an athlete, being very successful at it and taking care of your family is a great feeling. So, with this capstone, What I plan to do is launch a 1 on 1 interview with a special guest of my choice, who is also a family member of mine, that will send out a message to Young Student Athletes. This Interview will be then used to inspire these Young Student Athletes, teaching them how to balance the life of becoming a future college athlete and also living your life outside of school. Pushing them to focus on the ups, downs and accomplishments of pursuing that dream.

I chose to base my capstone off of a new interest of mine, real estate. My interest is in flipping houses, and the process, from beginning to end. My dad is a self employed real estate developer who buys buildings and fixes them. Sometimes he will sell the buildings and other times he will rent them to other people. For 2 months we visited a house he was renovating, I asked him many questions relating to real estate and the process of buying, fixing, and selling a building. I chose this topic specifically because I am interested in pursuing a career in real estate. I hope you like it.

Claire Powell Capstone

What inspires me as a dancer? When coming up with an idea for this project, I wanted to dive into my passions. One passion of mine is dance. This film showcases my emotional journey through dance, while I also incorporate the history of dance to what we do now. I wanted to film my performances along with a summary of styles and techniques. I believe this will be important when watching my film because it will give a deeper understanding of why I choose to do this. This is a compelling project because it is something that I have dedicated so much of my life to. I have taken so much time out of my teenage years to perform and learn and I want to express that with other people. It is more than a sport, it is an evolution that has developed for years to come and is still changing as I type. I want to not only showcase my ability, but also the dedication and hard work that goes into something this difficult but beautiful.
