This is a mural at Hahnemann University Hospital. It seems to me this mural portrays the different kinds of patients that come to the hospital or that study there. It is to show that all are accepted and will be helped no matter who you are. It portrays the different stories and lives that all of the patients there have.

This mural is not located in my neighborhood, but it is located around the same place one of my family members live. "Aspire: No Limits" is a mural created by Ernel Martinez of Dr. Shawn White, who was also called "Air Smooth". This man was a community leader, and HIV/AIDS activist. He grew up in South Philadelphia, and got his Ph.D. and started studying HIV in African American males. He then became an awareness speaker of the topic, and in 2009 he became the co-chair of the University of Pennsylvania's research on HIV prevention.

​Este mural cuenta la historia (story) del terremoto de 2010 en Haití y la cura de conversación para el comunidad haitiana. Mural arts se trabajó con los sobrevivientes y comunidad haitiana en Germantown para hacer esto mural. También, este mural honra Le Negre Marron, un combatiente de la libertad simbolizando los esclavos haitianos que lucharon por la libertad de Francia.

Voa Nu, Pwisans Nu significa "Our voice, our strength."

Este mural aquí es de 22 y Catherine, así que no es necesariamente la vuelta de la esquina, pero está todavía en el sur de Filadelfia. Representa Bernie Sanders, un hombre que fue para arriba como candidato presidencial antes de que él terminó encima de caer hacia fuera. Sus ideas para el país eran un poco irreales, pero eran ideas que muchos americanos hubiera gustado ver a tomar lugar.

Estas cuatro personas son muy importantes debido al papel que habían desempeñado en el Civil Rights Movement. Son inspiradoras que nunca había dado encima de lo que creían.Individualmente cada uno de ellos hizo heredero propios logros que son verdaderamente increíbles. Para ejemplo, Frederick Douglas había sido el primer afroamericano en una posición de alto gobierno.

​This is the location I chose in chestnut street due to how it is a very visible location where it is a very busy road. So anything that I paint will be seen and capture the attention of the audience immediately whether it be while they are driving or walking. The location is a central location so there are multiple people around to see the work. So this is why I would put my mural here. The mural would be something meaningful to the community to remind them we are a whole.

Hecho por el artista Michelle Angela Ortiz. La importancia de este mural es mostrar el impacto de la inmigración en las vidas de los jovenes immigrantes mexicanos en South Filadelphia. Aqui y Alla, que se traduce en "aqui y alla" se refiere a los jovenes de Filadelfia y Mexico. Hay muchos mas murales en Filadelfia con la importancia de la inmigración que es el mensaje.

Richard Allen
Richard Allen was a former slave who led a documented civil right effort at St. George's Church. His actions started the rise of black churches. Richard Allen also started a walkout against segregated seats in churches that lead to the formation of the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas and Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. He also formed the Free African Society, a society that helped fugitive slaves and new migrants.

Este mural es un colorido retrato de obispo Richard Allen. Nació en 1760 y vivió en Filadelfia toda su vida. Trabajó como ministro, escritor y educador. El obispo era también un líder importante en la comunidad negra. Fundó la primera iglesia episcopal metodista Africana en América.

Nadia Hironaka y Matthew Suib ayudaron a hacer el mural. Los estudiantes de escuela secundaria Sayre también ayudaron con el mural. Los estudiantes aprendieron sobre la historia de las fábricas en Filadelfia. El mural muestra la historia de la fuerza de trabajo en Filadelfia como derechos por los trabajadores en cerca 1940 y 1960. Los estudiantes fueron los trabajadores en el mural.

Tribute to Edward “Chick” Davis is a mural created by John Lewis on 15th and South. This mural is to pay tribute to Edward Davis who was a local pool player. Edward Davis was a well known pool player in Philadelphia. When he started playing pool it was during a time of discrimination. A lot of the time he was not allowed to play or contribute to the game of pool. Instead of playing at this discriminatory places he opened up 3 pool places. This mural is near one of the sites of his pool places. It is painted in muted browns and blues and has him playing pool which is what e=he was known for.

El mural elegir para esta tarea se llama mi Filadelfia del norte: Kensington. Este mural se encuentra en la Avenida de Kensington 2461. Hay varios acontecimientos importantes en este mural, sin embargo no se centran en una persona específica. Algunos de los eventos mostrados en este mural son los hombres que trabajan en una fábrica, los niños jugando en un parque y hombres promover sus carreras en el béisbol de grandes ligas. Al echar un vistazo más de cerca en el mural, puedo ver que hay una bandera de Puerto Rico. Creo que esto podría representar alguna relación entre Puerto Rico y las personas que están presentes en estos eventos. Tal vez son de herencia de Puerto Rican o estos son acontecimientos que ocurrieron en Puerto Rico. Esta hipótesis tendría sentido, ya que del norte de Filadelfia es un grupo predominante área hispana. Además, al mirar la soucre en http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/08/13/philadelphia-s-kensington-avenue-heroin-prostitution-and-no-police.html pude ver que este mural muestra el lado positivo de Filadelfia del norte. Esta es una oportunidad agradable para la comunidad ya que las noticias generalmente lo retrata en una mala luz. Esto también da a los ciudadanos un sentido de esperanza y un buen encontraron aprecio para la ubicación de la ciudad que viven.

Esto estaba destinado a mostrar a los niños que no todo tiene que terminar la forma en que comenzó. "A través de los talleres, los artistas querían enseñar a los estudiantes a ver el obstáculo como una oportunidad", dijo Perry. "Los cientos de imágenes creadas por los estudiantes durante el verano se incorporaron directamente al mural".
