John Winthrops City On a Hill
Anna Roman, Markia Johnson, Alaya White, Douglas Wallace
Valley girl vernacular:
Omg the only way to like avoid this problem of like splitting up is to like come together with God. and like love, walk and like talk with god, as one person, and i mean like always stay together and treat each other like you know the good way. Not only that but we have to like make sure we go through our things and get rid of anything that is last season and give them to you know like the needy. We must always stay together and love each other. We have to like to do everything together cry, put on make up, and even walk our dogs together. We have to always think of the people like around us and think about keeping the peace and if we do that god will be happy with us.
British vernacular:
You see God will command a blessing on our ways, so we can see so much more of his wisdom, goodness, and truth then we had been aquatinted with and discover that the God of Israel is with us. When ten of us will be able to face many of our enemies. Our story will be remembered by succeeding generations. AS the Lord made it for New England. That we shall be a city on the hill. Everyone is watching us, so if we are naughty and do wrong with our god in what we do, he will withdraw his present from us. We will be made a story.
Stereotypical black vernacular:
And everybody in da world gotta let the enemies talk. Let em talk! Let em talk about God and teachers and all-uh-dat. And anybody who talkin' bout praying to multiple gods and having servants. I'm like What? There is only ONE God! Forget all of them! They really need to shut up!
Sub Vernacular ( a way of speaking created by SLA students ):
Listen don't be a sub. You have to follow what the lord says in his commandments so we can go forward and bring some children into the world and the Lord won't firesub us and neglect us forever. But forreal formal we could sub his commandments. And follow other Gods to help ourselves but I don't want the boul to spaz out and kill us.
Stereotypical black vernacular:
We gotta live… So our children could live. Do what God says. Listen to him because he da only Lord and the Only way!

Our Brost on "City upon a hill" In bronacular
A brodells upon a hill.
The bronely way to brahvoid this shipwreck and to brovide for our bro-sperity is to follbro the counsel of madden, to do justly, to love mercy, to walk bro-ly with our Brod. We must party together in this frat as one bro. We must entertain each other in brotherly broffection with natty ice and madden. We must upbrold a bromiliar bromerce in all madden losses and other unbroly conduct. We must delight each brother, make brothers bronditions our brown brojyce brogether. Loose brogether, laybro brogether, and suffer brogether. Always having brofore our eyes, our bromission and brommunity in the party, our bromunity, as bros of the same frat. Bro shall we keep the bro-unity of the bro, and the bond of madden. The lord will be our bro (broseiden, king of the brocean.) and delight to party among us, as his bros, and will brommand, a bro-blessing upon us in all our games, bro that we will see bro more of his brodome, brower broodness, and bruth, than formerly we have been broquainted with. We will find that the COD of the internet is among us, when a bros worth of two six packs shall be able to pwn a thousand noobs. When he shall make us party and bro, that bros shall talk of broceeding botations, The cod makes it like Brohio; We must brosider that we shall be as a Brodells upon a hill, the eyes of all bros are on us, and… Tl;dt, broever, we shall brummarize.
All bros must bro together in the same frat in order to enjoy the broness of their natty ice and games of madden and ultimate Frisbee, the life of the bro must be always brogether, and never bropart. If a bro will work with his fellbro bros, then he shall have brocess, however if a bro loses touch with his bromances, that bro shall lack the brobility to broceed. If all bros stick together, we will have as many good parties with natty ices, madden, Frisbee, and plenty of noobs to pwn, as there are affliction shirts in brodells, hence to say, we will be like a brodells upon a hill.
City on a Hill, the Echols way
Okay, so we have these little people living on a teeney weeney little hill and they’re all “We’re tiny little people and everyone’s looking up at us and stuff!” So then one of them is like, “Praise Jesus!” and other spiritual religious-y stuff. Yayyyy, Jesus! He’s awesome. But the tiny little people have to work together and COLLABORATE, right? Woooo, collaboration! And everyone ELSE, the rest of the world, is watching them like WE’RE WATCHING YOU TINY LITTLE PEOPLE! And Jesus is watching them too like AHMYGAAAAD, I’M JESUS! So then the tiny little people have to do a good job of being nice to each other and working together or people will be like “You tiny little people suck and Jesus sucks,” AHMYGAAAAD! And that would suck, becaaaauuuse, Jesus is really awesome and he doesn’t suck! So, yeah, and now... the tiny little people have to work hard and care for each other and be a community, WOO, community! Because otherwise they’ll die OHNOOOOO AHMYGAAAAD! So, guys, like, for real, seriously, collaborate and stuff, YAYYYY!

Crossing Boundaries, Aye ?
I wonder how my 17 year old sister see's "crossing boundaries."
I also wonder how one of my younger brother see's "crossing boundaries."
I just had a brief discussion with them 2 about "crossing boundaries" and how they see it.

Nailah's and Johniera's NHD project: Navajo Indian Boarding schools
Nailah Adam

NHD Benchmark Reflection
Johniera and I chose this topic because Ms. Laufenberg suggested when we were searching for project ideas. We chose to present it as a documentary because there was an endless amount pictures available to us to show the Indian boarding schools and the affects they had amongst the students. We ran into trouble when my computer broke 3 weeks prior to when it was due, which limited us in having a lot of time to find pictures. Disregarding the stress that came along with it, the final product turned out nice. The collaboration and communication went well in our group. If I could do it over, I would add more video. I learned about the Native Americans and the trials and tribulations they went through, throughout the times of European explorers. I also learned about how their heritage was desecrated through the times because of the boarding schools.

Espaol Q3_BM
Well, after doing this project I learned that being able to speak the basic words of a daily routine from waking up to sleeping and all that in between in spanish. And that can seriously benefit me in the future, when something comes along and is somehow relevant to it.
My final product isn't all that though. I could've done some more work and added more creativity to it.
If I could do this all over again, I'd consider on adding the creativities, and some humor to it.
The project was tolerable, it wasn't that big of a pain. Overall I was ok with this.

6 word story ( Angry heartbreak )
Why do we make it seem like high school is the end of the world?
Why are putting High School on a pedestal?
Letting this "bitch stole my man"
drama cloud your judgment
When truth be told this boy isn't even
worth one drop of the perspiration rolling down your forehead
Why are putting High School on a pedestal?
Letting these childish labels like jock and
nerd mess with your head
When you know they don't control your future
Knowing that one day you might see Johnny
begging you for a dollar
And your thinking "Dang, I thought he was
gonna be a baller."
Why are putting High School on a pedestal?
Your following the head cheerleader so you can
get a status boost
While everybody knows in the real world that
Coattail riders have little self worth
So why are you putting High School on a
pedestal?
Knowing that it’s just a 4 year phase
An obstacle in your way of
Living up to your full potential
So dry your tears
Dust yourself off
Stop being a puppet
And just be yourself
And realize that everything is gonna be ok
As long as you realize that High School doesn’t
last forever
That statuses fade away
And remember to keep High School off that
pedestal
Because it’s not even worth looking up to

When you left my heart fell apart
There was no sunshine, stars - there was no reason to stay alive.
I wish I could go back in time, and tell you everything you meant to me.
There is nothing I can do now, but cry at nights when I close my eyes and see your face.
I don't know if you were a bad man or not.
All I know is that if I could go back in time, I would spend more time with you.
Well, I guess all I wanted to say is that I'll always love you dad.
