l Necesita Saber...

I put a lot of digital art there and it is starting to expand rapidly. This is an important part of my life because I hope to use this as a mean to bridge out to the professional art world. I just added the visual art portion of my life, but I also am trying to branch out to the musical strata in the form of an E.P I am working on.
I like the show “Adventure Time” and draw things about it as well as
the art for the ipad app:“Sword and Sworcery”.
The art I do is not exactly for the game but I have come into contact with the creator and he has commented on my art and added it to his blog.

About Me: Hello my name is Jiwon Choi. Some of my hobbies are playing on my piano and oboe, reading books, listening to music, and going on my laptop. I made this slide look the way it does because it stated that there should not be a lot of words on the slide and the words should be in big letters. Therefore, I made the words big and put little words as possible. I made the music notes on the staff bleed on the slide because I didn’t really want it to look like it’s fitting on the slide. I thought if I made it bleed, it would capture people’s attention more. Why did I put the music staff on my slide? I put the music staff because most of my hobbies are about music. For example, like playing my piano, oboe, and listening to music. Also, my hobbies are in different shades of blue because I wanted it to contrast with the background color. My name and the word “hobbies” are in green because I wanted to contrast it with the green patch on the top.
I made some changes to my slide because my older slide has too much words on it. I changed it into a black background because it looked more simple. I still have the music staff in there because my main theme for my slide is music. The music staff also bleeds because I didn’t want it to fit onto the page. I made my name stand out more because I wanted my name to stand out more. The font of my name is not playful anymore because I wanted to make it look more formal.
Aaron Block's Slide
Colors: For my color scheme, I tried to stick with yellow and red. The yellow pops out with the red behind it making it eye catching and easy to read.
Size: I tried to make the text as large as possible. I also tried to keep the size the same. Unfortunately, sometimes I could not fit text of that size into the slide.
Placement and angling: I made sure that the text and pictures were lined up as best as possible with one another. I also angled the heading text.
Repetition: I am most lacking in repetition. It was only one slide so there was not a lot of room for repetition.
Reflection
I learned that lots of the time, pictures are better than words. I also learned that having less stuff on my slide makes it look less cluttered and more neat. I also learned how to use bleeding to my advantage to create a slide that flows well. I kept the color scheme the same but changed the font to match the rounded edges of the notes.

Hello, my name is Michelle Friedman. Here you see several
photos of things that I particularly enjoy. The first thing is a picture of a
piano. I have played piano for 8 years and I still love it. The next photo is
up top, in the upper left corner. This is a photo with Benedict Cumberbatch and
Matt Smith. These are the men who play Sherlock Holmes, from Sherlock, and the
Doctor, from Doctor Who. Finally, the third picture is one you all should
recognize. It’s the Science Leadership Academy Logo. I also have three words in
the center: Hard work, friendship, and family. These are three big values that
I have in my life.
That is basically what my slide looks like. But why did I
choose to make it like that? Well, presentation
zen and slide design for developers
taught me to use colors that contrast. That is why I chose bright orange fonts and
darker pictures. My pictures also have a border of bright orange to tie it all
together. I made the background one large picture to make everything bolder and
make the res of it stand out. I learned this from Presentation Zen.

Slide Design
Hello, everyone! These are my goals in life (shows slide). Now, the first thing you may be thinking about when you see this is the colors or even the funky doctor. The colors are not a pattern, even though you may think it is. I chose to make the colors that way to depict important words. The red words are the important ones, while the blue ones are not as important. You may have also realized that the blue words are slightly smaller as well. This way, even if you were in the back of the room, you’d still be able to read my slides perfectly.
Why did I put the picture of the doctor? I put it there because the audience would be pretty bored if slides were just consisted of words. I put visuals in my slide to keep the audience entertained and awake. You can probably call it my trump card.
Something that influenced my decisions is Zach Holman’s post about slide designs. I was able to look at some of the slides he created and how they were visually appealing. He was able to get his point across clearly, while keeping me awake. He made use of different colors/fonts which made it exciting and fun to look at.
Reflection
I found that my original slide was pretty good. After my presentation, I thought otherwise. One thing that I needed to change was the text style. I had two different text styles for the words, which I didn't notice. Another thing that needed to be changed was the pictures. The actual pictures themselves wasn't the problem, but the white background with them was. To fix that I'll have to use the "Alpha" tool to remove the white background and re-arrange the pictures. Last, but not least, remove the bullet points. The bullet points gave the slide a look of formality when it was intended to be fun. This is my new slide.

As you see here, I created a slide. To create my slide, I used the concept of bleeding to the picture of the piano keys, so the viewer is left with some wonder and has to think about what the rest of the picture is. I made the type big so people would be able to read it easily, without taking their attention from me speaking. I made the slide mainly visual by making the focus the photos that I added. I created the slide so you would only have to glance at it. I used the rule of thirds to somewhat separate my photos into three columns, and added a small amount of text to narrate what I was talking about. I tried to make it as brief as possible, considering how many things I could’ve added.

Most of my design was following what it said in Presentation Zen: Make things big. I did this for most of the images, and then made the text a little bit smaller, because Presentation Zen says to make things visual. I started with the headcrab a lot bigger, but eventually made it smaller because Presentation Zen says to have empty space. I think I could have had a bit more empty space if I could do it again, though. I also made the bacon bleed a bit, according to Presentation Zen's tips. If I could do it again, I would follow the rule of thirds, because my slide seems a bit disorganized. I would also add more contrast if I could do it again.

The purpose behind my slide is simple really. I'm organized, but I like to be messy. I like to change the way my words are facing. I like to give things color and leave things bland. When it comes to the pictures: I have a sketchpad because there are times where I'm so bored that it inspires me to draw. I'll draw people, cartoons, logos, nature, whatever comes to me at that moment in time. A picture of Bruno Mars is up there because he will always be my "husband". I've loved his music since day one and am a die hard "Hooligan". He's a big part of my life. I have a picture of a present and it says "quince" inside. I just turned 15 and had my quinceanera. In the latin culture, that was my transition in life from a girl to a woman. I have a picture of a pug with the word "pugly" above it because I have 3 pugs at home and they're ugly but know how to be cute at the same time. The words I have represent me and how I am or what I like. And that's about it.
New Reflection: As I created this slide I paid more attention to the presentation zen ideas and the critiques I heard in class. This time I have a completely different slide and kept everything simple. I used the idea of bleeding with the flag in the background. I contrasted the red with with white when it came to my name (I sampled the same color from the white stripes). I have one big visual in the back (the flag) and my name would be the glance media. I also used big font again.
Media Fluency
When I saw the default font (Gill Sans) for the slide type I chose (White), it looked perfect for te type of design. I chose a puzzle-piece sort of design because it expresses ideas clearly, and looks smooth. Its coloration provides a bit of contrast between words, making it even clearer. It’s in a square about ⅔ the height and width of the overall slide. This technically doesn’t conform to the rule of thirds, more like the rule of sixths, as it leaves about a sixth on each side. It’s not quite exact, though. I didn’t use pure black, because it would be too strong.
REFLECTION
In reflection, I think I did my slide well. It had an overall "Wow!" reaction among fellow classmates. In addition, it fits everything the assignment needed.

Since creating my first slide I have learned even more about making slides. I changed my slide completely. The reason being I had way too many photos on my first slide and I did not use presentation Zen correctly. I feel as though having too many photos is not good and does not work. I learned a whole lot from seeing others present their slides. I learned a lot about presentation Zen from others presenting as well because they used presentation Zen well. Furthermore I wanted my slide to be my best work and I believe that my second slide is better than my first slide. Overall I believe that my second slide is much better than my first slide.
