Net Neutrality

Many people don't really know what Net neutrality is.The definition of Net Neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. Many people feel different have opinions about this. Their will be many problems if we eliminate Net Neutrality.

In my opinion Net Neutrality is important. Without it getting internet service would be very difficult. Honestly Until this point I had no idea what Net Neutrality is. Now that I do I think more people should be made aware of it. We have to stop the FCC from manipulating our data.
I think specifically teens should be taught about Net Neutrality. Media plays a big role in teens lives. I believe if would be beneficial for them to know about. They should be educated on it in school. SLA is a role model for other schools.

Net Nuetrality

Net Neutrality is the principle that internet service providers and governments should treat all data on the internet equally. Net Neutrality is important for teens to know about because teens lives are on the internet. Every likes fast internet speed but its especially important for teens. Teenagers have school work, social media and other needs that requirement the web. It may not seem like a big issue but it is.

We have to protect our right as people to access what we want and how we want on the internet. If bigger companies that use the internet to promote what they sell have faster internet, than everyone else is slowed down. Including teens internet service. If the government doesn't act soon about it then net neutrality will soon be to an end. Computers will slow down and websites will load slower.

If companies paid money for faster service, it will disrupt many things because everything revolves around technology today. Teens need to know that just because it isn't exciting, its still important. Equal web access for everyone is crucial to life. Equality on the internet has been fine so it shouldn't change. Its important for teens to know about net neutrality because it result on their life

¨Why breathe?¨ The point of this slide is to show people my true passion. I enabled a catchy title to enhance the attention of my readers and added bold pictures to tell a story without actually having words. I used minimum space for my wording so that my pictures could be big enough you would see it without having to look so hard. I made my slide have a little contrast by making the whole background black with bright colors added on top to pop out at the audience. This slide not only expresses who I am without portraying actually me, it makes people think deeper and actually have a feeling towards it.

Slide #2

Express yourself
I chose to make my slide like that for many reasons. One reason is that I chose to use large text and I decided to manage my space so it wouldn't be too crowded. I also made some of my pictures bleed off the slide because not the full picture should be used. I wrote "Express Yourself" in red because I think that it would catch people's attention if it was on a billboard. It contrast with the white background which catches the eye. The pictures that I used expresses some of the things that I like. I like keeping things simple, but meaningful so I decided to make my slide not too flashy. I sing and dance at church, so it became a hobby for me. I like working and helping out little kids, they're always make someone smile. I love chilling/hanging out with my friends and watch movies. Music and shopping is just my thing! I love music because everyone can relate to them and shopping is always fun.

Technology (1)
I made several changes in my slide, many changes where difference in color and text. I was given a lot of advice to switch out the background for a more calm and desired color, not a loud red. I was also criticized for the eraser being a different color, so I swapped it out as well. I then added even more variation within my text, making more words bold and larger than others to make it much more appealing. I learned that even the smallest switches in color and boldness can make something a thousand times more eye capturing, even if a color is slightly off it can cause boredom and lack of interest.

With my second slide I didn't really change much because all the reviews I got were great. The only thing I changed was the quotations because they were different. But it was a very minor change. What I learned from this keeping it simple is the best thing ever. You don't want too much on your slide because it will take away from the big picture. I'm very happy I listened to that advice because it really helped me in the long run.

Net Neutrality and Teens // Nadya Negron

Net Neutrality

What is Net neutrality? Net neutrality is that Internet Service Providers and the government have to treat all Data on the internet equally. Not discriminating because of the user, website, application, etc. Net neutrality protects us from ISP’s treating traffic differently. Without Net neutrality you can forget about youtube, netflix anything online you can forget about it. If the ISP’s get control of that you won’t be able to do anything like that.

I think it’s important for teens to know about Net neutrality because in the future in can be in jeopardy and since we know about it we can do something about it. Right now Net neutrality is in danger and I think it’s because not many people know about it so they don’t care. Us teens are the new generation we can fight this. WE can make a difference just by having this knowledge and sharing it with the world how important it is. I don’t people understand without Net neutrality the internet would be a completely different place.

I also think it’s important for teens to know about net neutrality because our generation lives off of the internet. All most teens know is that the internet works fast. They don’t know why the internet works fast or what some people have to do to fight for our internet rights. Soon they will want to know when the internet isn’t working fast anymore. But we don’t have that type of time. So that’s why I think it’s very important for teens to know about Net neutrality and what it does for us.

Net Neutrality

Teens need to learn about net neutrality so that we become better adults. If we learn about net neutrality we will be able to not make the mistakes that the fcc is making by thinking about getting rid of net neutrality. We also need to learn about it so we can spread the word.
Net neutrality keeps everyone happy. If it didn't exist we wouldn't be able to use the internet. Net neutrality means that every website us treated the same. If it's gone companies can treat websites differently. This means that websites like Facebookwill be hard to access. If you want to access them you will have to pay more money.
In conclusion we need to learn about net neutrality so that we understand that it is a good thing that keeps us happy. We also need to tell more people about it so that people understand that we need it.

Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality is important for teens to now. For an analogy teens would want to know that if they would they are living in an equal world or not. Which leads me to my statement why would they not need to know that their internet is not beginning distributed to them equally. Teens should know when the are getting ripped of and not. In addition, this makes me question why would companies want to give us less internet for more money.

For many Americans has become so much a part of the lives. Whether it is Using it on their computers ,phones, ipods/mp3s, gaming consoles , and more. About 84.2% of the population (2013) used the internet. A portion of those people are teens. Most teens use the internet mostly  on their video game consoles and smartphone leads me to my statement. Teens need to know about net neutrality because if one day the randomly want to go on youtube and they have perfect connection and suddenly their I.S.P decide to slow their internet down they need to know what their I.S.P is doing.

Teens today are growing up and they are hitting the age where they can speak up. They should question why is this website blocked if I am paying for it. Most teens in America know that they have freedom of speech in America in a way. So which means we should also be allowed to say what ever we want on the internet because we are paying for our I.S.Ps and this is America. In addition, teens need the internet to learn and whent I.S.Ps slow down and block websites on the internet that just make learnig harder for them.

Net Neutrality

Net neutrality is the process in which major internet companies have a direct connection to the use of internet that goes to customers of major companies who need access to internet. There are certain amount of rules and regulations put in place to protect the system. The people in control of this are the FCC. They work to try to promote fairness and equality for the internet companies and distributors. At the moment they are working on regulating the rules so that everyone agrees and benefits from them.

At the moment there are significant discrepancies between the ways things should be run and the way they are happening. There are two sides to the system that is net neutrality. One being the people in control of the internet flow, and the others being those trying to sell or give internet to their customers. The problem is that one side feels that they are being unfairly forced to pay for a service that should be given. Companies like Comcast can if they want can slow down their internet services to companies like Netflix if they feel like they are not being paid enough. This obviously causing conflict.

The unfair way of the system has caused each side to fight with the other. Because there is conflict, everyone is looking forward to the new rules to be announced soon. Tom Wheeler, chairman of the fcc, is going to make a new set of rules. This is known supposed to fix the issues that are currently taking place, so they both sides can be civil. It is going to be a step in the right direction in net neutrality.

Net Neutrality is an important debate that is you need to know about. "Debate? That has nothing to do with me! Why do I have to know about this topic that doesn't even relate to me?"  It has more to deal  with you than you actually realize. For Net Neutrality will change how you use the Internet forever.

Net Neutrality prevents your Internet Service Provider charges you more money to view certain websites. Right now we currently have Net Neutrality. This is how, this is proven. Want to watch a YouTube video? Go right on ahead. You simply go on the website and *BAM* video. This is because we have Net Neutrality. But without Net Neutrality you are no longer able to do this without paying extra.

This is a BIG deal. Your internet service provider wants to change your internet was forever. They want your money and that's exactly what they are going to get if Net Neutrality gets removed. You might think that this is grown-up buisness that has nothing to do with you but you are wrong. SO WRONG!

Net Neutrality

Net neutrality is a principle that everyone who uses the internet is treated equal. Net neutrality stops the slowing down of your internet by your ISP and helps stay as fast as everyone else's no matter how much you pay for it. People like Verizon want you to pay extra out of your pocket for your Internet to stay fast. They also have the power to slow down your internet, or tell you what you can or cannot use. That is not fair at all.

With teens not having net neutrality could really mess things up. Teens use the internet more often, and if Net Neutrality is abolished we'd have a hard time functioning in everyday life. For our school, we use internet everyday. Slowing down our internet speed, could slow down our learning process. If our learning process is slowed down, we will be behind the everyday world.

I think we can all come together and make net neutrality stand out to our ISP. If we push the fact that not only are people like Verizon taking things away from our children, they're taking things away from them too. We need fair treatment of internet in our life. Companies like Verizon should not stop us from having that.  We need net neutrality !

Why did you make the slide look the way it does? What infulenced your decision making?

I made it look the way it does because I really like this quote and I think that it says alot about myself because I try and be somebody I'm not and its ok to be different. Nobody is perfect everyone has their flaws and difference and thats what I think makes us who we are. What influence my decision for this blog is that I can relate to it so that why I choose to write about something that relates to me and my problems.

Net Neutrality

I agree with net neutrality.  At first, I was skeptical, because I thought ISP’s should be able do what they want, plus since we pay for internet it must be a product.  But then I learned that by creating high speed lanes, they are slowing down many peoples internet, which is not okay.  Furthermore, the internet is so essential in today’s world, so even if it is a product, it is also almost a necessity, like water and light.  I don’t think it should be treated differently, and don’t want to have to worry about slow internet speeds, because I don’t have the money to pay for fast ones. This would probably negatively affect the majority of people who use the internet.  It could negatively affect schools too, that can’t afford the best internet fast lanes, which would affect students learning.

Moreover, without net neutrality, ISP companies will decide what you can and can’t do and how fast your favorite movie on Netflix loads, or if your YouTube video buffers or not.  The internet should be a free space, and I don’t want my free time affected negatively, because ISP companies want more money.

I learned that on February 26, the FCC will have their monthly meeting, as well as make their decision on net neutrality.  I know Obama is a strong advocate of Net Neutrality, and has tried to regulate ISP companies. However, ISP companies have resisted.
