My goal for this podcast was to get an idea and view on my mother's opinion of work and what it means to have had work or to work in general. Although she does not work a paid job, I was interested in her definition and how it shaped her and what it meant not only as someone who worked in the past but even as a mother. I also wanted to get her opinions about work, wisdom, and satisfaction and how you need both to balance out each other out. During this project, there were a lot of things that went wrong and a lot of things that went well. The things that went well, was getting my mom to not only cooperate  but also her engaging answers, that allowed me to learn even more than I thought I knew about her. It was a really enjoyable thing to interview her and I enjoyed it. However, some things that went wrong was editing and that entire process. I stressed a lot but in the end I am proud with my finished product.  

My central idea was death and how it impacts people in different ways. Death can either change a person about how they live life and make them love it more or put people in dark places. In my interview I interviewed 2 of my cousins who talked about death and how it can impact a person really quickly. I had a lot of of struggles because I couldnt find a central idea and soundtrap wasnt working. After getting help it all worked out in the end !

My goal for this podcast was to go in depth with my interviewee and showcase something he was passionate about. He felt strongly about making himself a better individual. A lot of factors play into becoming a better person, growing, and changing for the better. My goal for this podcast was to show that all forms of work are important, but a job title shouldn't be what defines you. A lot of times, a paycheck or economic status is what determines a person's 'worth' or identity within society. I had a conversation with my mom about her ideas, thoughts, and experiences regarding the topic. I think the final result is great, and the process ultimately went well. 

This project wasn't very hard to follow but, brainstorming ideas for the interview was one of the challenging parts of this project. I started off well with a good amount of questions and thought of the people I'm interviewing quickly. I interviewed my first person who was one of my mentors but unfortunately, I realized that I lost the 45 minute recording after. So, I figured that I would interview my stepdad which I did. That interview went pretty smoothly and I edited it quickly too. Overall,  this project helped me practice my interviewing skills and taught me how to add narrations smoothly in every parts of the interview.

Originally, I had wanted to interview my grandfather about his life and experiences. I recorded the entire interview and it was unfortunately deleted. We had discussed his work ethic and the businesses he ran and how he was fully consumed by work in some periods of his life. He didn't expand too much on this area, even though I was intrigued what the impact of being a workaholic had on the rest of his life and family, including my mother. I was able to get this information and meat of his story by interviewing my mom. We talked about how traits in our family were passed down and the dynamic of her childhood, but then it lead to another topic of conversation. We started to talk about her experience with horses and independence as a child and the contrast with my generation. I want the audience to come to new realizations in the comparisons of past generations to how we are growing up in modern day. I learned a new way of seeing things when speaking to my mom, and she really opened my eyes to why we react in the ways we do and the large role social media places in numerous aspects of our lives, more than I had initially grasped. It was overall a great experience for me to hear about how my mom grew up and hear advice and her stories to help guide me as I grow up.

I think this project was one of the most stressful so far. Not because of the content but just soundtrap not cooperating like it should have been. Although on the bright side I definitely learned a lot about interviewing and picked up on a lot of good interview skills. I also learned to take everything slow and to be careful with the working process. My goal for this project was to make sure the interview came out nice and has a nice flow.

I looked forward to hearing what my mom had to say about her childhood and our older generation family. I learned new things felt a closer connection with my heritage and feel closer with my mom. It was also nice to see my mom excited to talk about her childhood and go back to the good things she misses when she was a kid. I was sad to hear that a lot of traditions died down because the people died off and the people that lived didn't care enough to carry tradition over. But the struggle for me with this project was trying to edit my audio. Soundtrap lost my work half way through and I finally found Wevideo to edit.It took me two days to get my editing done which was stressful but I completed it. I am grateful to learn about family I didn't met, and learn more about my mother and my grandparents.
