For my capstone I wanted to create a business that I could further build upon as the year went on. The idea started as a blog, but grew slowly into something much different. I was interested in writing articles revolving around productivity, topics such as how to invest, how to get better sleep, how to be happier. I enjoyed doing those things, but eventually I felt like I should pivot to a different idea.
My new idea was to create a business that revolved around the idea that most small business owners are not using social media to its full potential. The service that I am offering is much more than just creating and managing facebook, instagram, and twitter. The service I am providing can actually create customers for small business, and because of the untapped customers that most small businesses are overlooking, It will be worth it for them to continue to pay for my service. I bought a domain for my LLC and named it netvision marketing.org. I am posting articles on how to further establish your social media presence weekly, and I am also in the process of being certified as an expert in social media marketing.
WEBSITE NAME: Netvisionmarketing.com

EXAMPLE OF AN ARTICLE: For most, waking up in the morning is a pain. You wake up drowsy, and waddle to the alarm to hit the snooze for those valuable last 5 minutes of sleep. But what if it did not have to be that way. How can you make sleep more enjoyable and satisfying? Find out by reading this article.

First, if you really want to start getting better sleep you must first prioritize it. If you say you are going to sleep, actually go to sleep. A growing problem for society today is actually putting the phones and computers away when it is time to sleep. It is hard to stay away from the bright screens when the late hours come, especially when your smartphone is also your alarm. What you might not know is that smartphones actually suppress melatonin. If you are unfamiliar with the term melatonin, it is the hormone in your system that regulates sleep and wakefulness. Therefore it might be a good idea to read a book before you go to sleep. I would strongly suggest reading before you go to sleep because not only is reading the key to success, but will also not suppress melatonin and most likely help you fall asleep.

I think we can all agree that there is not that much that trumps great sleep. Feeling refreshed and ready to go in the morning is the best way to start your day. But getting good sleep is not just about those 5 minutes before you go to bed, but the process actually starts at the beginning of the day. The best way to get good sleep is to have a routine throughout the day, and make sure you are providing your body with the right nutrients throughout the day.

Another great way to enhance your sleep is to have clothes designated for sleep aka pajamas. From experience, I can recommend bamboo pajamas, they are seriously the most comfortable pants of all time and my sleep is way better because of it. Having comfortable sleep helps your body recover from tough workouts, so finding what you like is recommended.

Although it is a small facet of your life, it is a very important one. By turning the knob, you can make your body experience different temperatures, which leads to different results. I will use this source to provide facts for the productivity section of my website. I will also pair this with other sources to enhance the information.

This source is one of the most important sources I have evaluated during this whole process. While this has been a long process, I have gotten a ton of good information from this book. I feel like I have learned a ton about myself through reading this book. I will use facts from this book, and evaluate if other sources say the same thing. Obviously this is a book so I have not gotten every single thing from it, but with a deeper analysis. I believe that productivity is a key to being successful, and that is why I am using this source.

This is another really helpful book about learning to invest. This book is really helpful because it covers a large amount of information with a few basic lessons. A theme of this book is philosophy, and how different outlooks on money will determine if you can create wealth or not. An example of this is the way people look at the home which they live in. If you have a poor man's mindset, you will believe this is an asset, which is an investment. A rich man would look at his home as a liability, and while this is a small example, the results usually correlate. Rich dad Poor dad speaks about how you can become rich from your mindset and how you manage wealth.

This is a beginners guide to learn how investing works, through three different methods. The methods include the Stock market, Bonds, and also Real estate. The book takes you through different situations, and how building wealth is not a talent, but a lifestyle. It is not contingent on how much you earn, but how well you save and how smart you spend. It is important to learn all of these methods for my new website, and I believe that the information I learned while reading Learn to Earn will be extremely beneficial for the people interested in learning to create wealth.

This again is a beginners guide to real estate. I am going to use this source like I used a lot of my other sources, but the difference is that they have different tips and methods. Because my website is going to be an accumulation of all these methods, I am going to have to go through a lot of repetition to get all of the contrasting facts. I am motivated to find all of the ways to invest which actually work, but repetition is going to be a factor. I need to keep in mind that I must avoid saying the same thing more than once.

Most of my sources have common traits, so I am really learning how to analyze them. One limitation to this source was that it was not that long, but I have other sources about productivity that capture a deeper look into traits of productivity. I think this is an obstacle which all young entrepreneurs encounter at some point in their career, so overcoming this obstacle is tough, and reading this book is a good step in that direction. I also will give this book as a suggestion to anybody who wants to really go in depth in their learning.

Vegetable and Goat cheese quesadilla.

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar in Science and Society · Best · E Band on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 1:34 am

A) Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced white onion

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • Pinch of Salt

  • Pepper

  • 1 tortilla

  • 1/2 cup shredded hard goat cheese

  • 1/2 large sliced tomato

  • fresh basil or sage

B)Directions to make Vegetable and Goat cheese quesadilla.

  • Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. You can add toppings such as unions and sauté until translucent for around 5 minutes. After season it with salt, and pepper. Remove onions from pan and set aside.

  • Using the same pan, lay the tortilla flat on the pan in medium heat. Sprinkle cheese evenly on top. Top half the cheese with cooked onions, tomato, and herbs. When cheese begins to melt, fold cheese-only side of tortilla over. Cook for another minute. You can repeat this process for larger crowds of people such as a whole classroom. Each person will want more than one, but it is healthy and taste very good and is also quick.

c) Analysis

Goat cheese is easy to digest for people who are lactose intolerant. You can use a whole wheat tortilla which has fiber. You can also use veggies for toppings which are extremely healthy and have antioxidants.

This is the beautiful thing about making a meal that is from a country like Mexico. In Mexico, most of the ingredients you will find are grown locally and are very fresh. What this means is that the food that you will be eating will most likely not be processed. Goat cheese also contains whey which contains protein. If you are going to the gym a lot, you might want to think about creating one of these healthy quesadillas because you can fuel your gains. Furthermore, you can also eat the veggies from locally grown markets, or you can buy bad veggies. Either way, you know that it will be much better for you than a processed meal.

This meal should really cost less than 10$. If you are buying all of these ingredients in bulk than the price of each quesadilla plummets. If you are just planning to make one of these for yourself, than you might want to think about saving some for friends because you will have a hard time buying the ingredients in a small quantity. In comparison with fast food, you are getting not only a better deal but a healthier deal with these quesadillas in comparison with Taco Bell. The people who make money off of this meal are local farmers who are just out here attempting to connect people with great food and healthy lifestyles. It is a beautiful thing that large corporations/ businesses are not involved. If you go with the large companies, you might not get as much flavor or nutrients, but it might be a little cheaper. In this case we will definitely go with the healthy and local market route. ENJOY YOUR MEAL!

Quarter 4 Blog Lukas Supovitz-Aznar

For my last blog of the year I started off with doing two drawings of a sculpture of a man. He is naked, so I just eye balled it at first, but did not really like the drawing so I gave it a second look. For the second look, I was more detailed in my drawing, and tried to capture the whole sculpture including all the details. For my 1st 4 hour drawing, I created a rainbow version of the sculpture. I really enjoyed my depiction of the drawing. It reminded me of a obscure, and abstract sculpture. For my second 4 hour art piece, I painted spongebob, using a lot of colors to try to draw him correctly. I did not really like my first attempt at drawing spongebob, So for my third 4 hour art piece I attempted to re-do the painting. For the last 4 hour art piece I got all of spongebob's details. From his tie, to his strips on his socks. I am very proud of what I created this year in art class, and feel like I have grown as a artist, as well as a art consumer. I am better

ARTIST STATEMENT:
When making my art for quarter three, my goal was to just have fun with the art. Through the past two quarters of art, I have had themes. But what makes art unique is its individuality. I took each art on as its own task, and what I made fit my feelings at the time. In my favorite task-Week 3- I chose to make three different drawings, one being a turtle, another being flowers, and the last being pots. It was very relaxing to draw these, because all I had to do was color in the lines. For week 4-5 I drew a self portrait, one that Is extremely interesting. I drew the self portrait with detail, so it looks a little bit to real, and as a result a little scary. For week 6-7 I drew windows logo because that was the first thing that came to mind when it came to value. This was an interesting lesson for me, and I find myself using value often when making art. For week 8-9 I drew a Calvin and Hobbes scene, which included basic shapes, and made the drawing intricate on a basic level. For the last week I drew the dog,  and learned a valuable lesson with the shapes that you can draw anything with basic shapes.

Advanced Essay #4

When I first started this unit about war I was immediately intrigued about the concept of why we are so involved in war. My first thoughts were that their has to be a method to our madness, but the more I learned the more I felt mislead. While writing this essay I wanted to lead the reader to a more knowledgable reason on how recruitment goes down. I tried my best to keep my opinion out of this topic, and just write with factual content. I think I did that, but still provided interesting content that would make the reader want to keep reading more. In synopsis I am happy I picked this topic because I was enlightened myself.

Hundreds of men stand in front of our flag, pledging their allegiance to this country. This photo is a powerful, yet common photo of a bunch of young men showing their dedication to the country; the same country that betrays them in many ways. In the background is the American Flag, and it shows that they will all fight for the cause. Sometimes the cause is not identified but these men are still willing to risk their lives. This has been a trend, where men who are mislead by their country still are loyal and extremely proud to represent the country. Throughout history, war has been an important topic for all countries.

Since the beginning of the United states, we have always been very involved in all different kinds of war. Recently war has come under attack, specifically by the United States recruitment system.  Army recruitment happens all around the country, and these recruiters come to thousands of high schools to get kids who are not yet ready to sign up for war. An important topic to note is that most recruitment goes on in towns of poverty, or where not much goes on. Kids are often lured into a lifestyle that they are not yet ready to live, and the recruiters know this but it is necessary for them to do to keep the strongest military in the world. According to the New York Times article “Army recruiters say they feel pressure to bend the rules” it states “He has been bending or breaking enlistment rules for months, he said, hiding police records and medical histories of potential recruits. His commanders have encouraged such deception, he said, because they know there is no other way to meet the Army's stiff recruitment quotas.”  This shows that recruitment is often unfair and this idea of a quota to sign people up is wrong. Although some recruits are not interested in serving for the country, others are. “By the Army's own count, there were 320 substantiated cases of what it calls recruitment improprieties in 2004, up from 199 in 1999, the last year it missed its active-duty recruitment goal, and 213 in 2002, the year before the war in Iraq started. The offenses varied from threats and coercion to false promises that applicants would not be sent to Iraq. Many incidents involved more than one recruiter, and the number of those investigated rose to 1,118 last year, or nearly one in five of all recruiters, up from 913 in 2002, or one in eight.” To be sent to war in an unfamiliar country without actually having any motive to do so is unjust, and one out of eight is a pretty large portion. Yet still many kids grow up with the dream of joining the military, and that is something to be proud of. The real crime is the lies that the recruits are told, such as “College will be payed for”- New York Times. This is very unfortunate, and for many they end up resenting how they served in the military because they were lead to misconceptions through the recruitment process. For a promise like college being payed for to be broken is very tragic, so most suggest to get everything in writing before actually signing up for the military.

The larger picture is how do people get away with the lies that they tell to these high school students. What tends to happen is that the recruiters have a quota to meet, so they have to get a certain amount of people to join. But it would be completely untrue to say that all recruiters lie to get more people to join, because some are totally honest. Most agree that the best way to get more people to join is to be completely honest. But some are not honest, which is a brutal reality of the war. What should be pride in serving our country turns into a sales tactic. All recruiters are put through sales training which impacts the people who they recruit. It feels like an injustice that people have to be sold the military, and it is not just of free will. For something as serious and harmful as war, it is scary to think that a teenager can make such a large decision without knowing the consequences. People are legally allowed to risk their lives at war before they are allowed to drink. Children start being sold the pride of being a soldier before they are able to speak.

Podcast English- Lukas Supovitz-Aznar

Lukas's song #2
In this podcast I wanted to get to the essence of what makes a person tick. I feel like it took a little bit but I finally scratched the surface when I spoke to Ella. I found our conversation to be really intriguing because she was honest, which was all that I could ask for when I was interviewing her. As the interview continued I really started to get a sense of how I would craft my podcast. My goal was to make my podcast as dramatic as possible, and I think I accomplished that goal with the help of my music. I took all factors into consideration while making my podcast, including how the story would flow and when my climax would be introduced.
When I was crafting the podcast it was hard to find parts that I wanted to use and other parts I did not. Two factors hurt my project; her voice was not clear and was a little hard to hear and also there were some random sounds which ruined sound clips. This was frustrating but I learned to just deal with what I had, and had success with it. I learned to not use a computer that is given by the school because the recording is pretty terrible. Other than that I learned that music is really important when crafting an emotion that you want to give off to your audience. My favorite part was putting in special music so I could control the flow of the podcast.

Q2 Advanced Art-Lukas Supovitz-Aznar

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar in Advanced Art - Hull - a1 on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:03 am
Throughout this quarter of advanced art I wanted to focus on a specific theme throughout my artwork. That theme was happiness in the mind of a child. I think that being a child was a much simpler time, so when I was given the opportunity to express those thoughts in the form of artwork, I did. For my art collage I had a boxer who was thinking in the piece of art. In the fighters thoughts were things that I thought of as a child such as Calvin and Hobbes, Aliens, and Dwarfs. For week 6 and 7 I edited a photo of the SLA baseball team winning a playoff game, and the pure happiness which followed. The reason I did this was because I think that it showed what I thought about as a kid, which was baseball. For my final piece of artwork I picked a poem which spoke about happiness, and then drew out what I thought happiness looked like to me as a kid. The theme of being a child carried out through the whole quarter and brought me back to my roots of what truly matters.

Advanced Essay #3 + [Finding yourself vs. Creating yourself.]

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar in English 3 - Block - E on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:46 am
In my advanced essay #3 I wanted to drive home the idea that finding yourself is just a man made concept. I thought I would go against the grain on this essay and think about it totally different in that hard work is what makes your "self." The reason why I wanted to think of it like this is because I believe in concept that hard work can trump anything other people have naturally. I think I did this really well through good execution and finding supporting evidence for my thesis of creating yourself.

Finding yourself vs. Creating yourself.

I often hear people say “Throughout childhood you spend most of your time trying to find yourself.” They say this is the reason that childhood is so hard, but to that I disagree. To me, the idea of finding yourself is synonymous with a having a destiny. I believe that you spend your life creating yourself and your future, it is not found, and you are not born with specific purpose. There is no short cuts in doing that because creating and molding the person you want to be takes hard work. Naturally you are born with a certain amount of personality and talent through genetics, but success is created after you are born, not before. The search for real self is fiction, your personality is not waiting to be stumbled upon one day. If the search for true self was reality, when it is finally found you would become static, without any real reason to be ambitious, because anything out of that comfort zone would be considered “Not being yourself.” Although having your own opinions are unique to the specific person, having a destiny is not real. Everyday you create yourself with thoughts, actions, and dreams. It is a life experiment to mold what you like and what you don’t like. The rest is up to the person, and the people who influence that person. The people that influence you play a extremely vital role in creating yourself. What is considered as finding yourself, is misconstrued with having society’s restrictions define you. The influence that society has on a person's spirit is stronger than anyone would like to admit, and even the broadest categorization of humans are made by our society. This is shown in the article from The New York Times "Race and Racial Identity Are Social Constructs.” The article states that:

Race is not biological. It is a social construct. There is no gene or cluster of genes common to all blacks or all whites. Were race “real” in the genetic sense, racial classifications for individuals would remain constant across boundaries. Yet, a person who could be categorized as black in the United States might be considered white in Brazil or colored in South Africa.

This proves the idea that society has created broad guidelines for people's lives. I believe that these constrictions make people afraid to overstep boundaries for fear of “not being yourself.”

The concept of creating yourself is driven by self perception, and believing that you can, or cannot achieve something with hard work, and not being naturally gifted. Will Smith, a extremely successful actor once said “I've always viewed myself as slightly above average in talent. And where I excel is ridiculous, sickening work ethic. You know, while the other guy's sleeping? I'm working.” Will smith sums up my thesis of creating yourself by implying that he was never given a particular special talent, but because he worked hard and believed in himself he created a legendary career. This correlates with creating yourself because he was not blessed with a destiny, and did not wait to find himself, instead he worked hard to make his average talent great. When you are old enough to think for yourself, you began to challenge all ideas. The drive to experiment with things is created, and you begin to judge what you do and don’t like. I believe that society constructs people's feelings of identity and belonging by years of watering down what is normal. Society holds a lot of power in some people's eyes. But no matter who you are, there are repercussions of the opinions of others. Some people choose to fit in and just be normal, because that is easier. Others choose to go down the road of resistance where you experiment with things and decide whether something is for you or is not. These societal pressures are shown in The Great Gatsby "His nostrils turned to me in an interesting way” (p.71).  I understand you're looking for a business negotiation." The juxtaposition of these two remarks was startling. Gatsby answered for me: "Oh, no," he exclaimed, " this isn't the man." "no?" Mr.Wolfshiem seemed disappointed. "This is just a friend. I told you we'd talk about that some other time." " I beg your pardon," said Mr. Wolfshiem, "I had a wrong man." This shows that Nick did not fold to society pressures to do something that he did not want to do. It is not that he didn’t take the opportunity because it wasn't his destiny, but because he had created his morals, and was emotionally strong enough to deny society’s pressures.

Advanced essay #2

Real life must be taught.

By Lukas Supovitz-Aznar

In schools throughout the United States, most writing skills that are taught are not useful for careers. The skills that are useful post-high school are left unclear on how to integrate into a student's future. Although creative writing is important, it is a form of literacy that is overrated and often useless in most professions. Kids should learn how to write professionally for business fields such as persuasive writing, emailing, templates, and sales pitches; which are geared to excel in. These fields have obvious connections to real world material so they would be beneficial to our success. The skills that are useful in schools are the basics, however kids are not taught how to apply it to the real world so these topics are rendered useless.

I have always been open to learning about the different ways of writing throughout my English classes over the years. Unfortunately the curriculum for English seems vague and weak, so it is up to the teacher to help their students excel. Each year the English teacher is a new one, so the tools we learn are often repeated. The product of this system is students having very little “real life” skills. The important topics that are taught are not explained on how to use. For a student to actually apply the skill, the teacher has to put the tool in the description. If the student is not blatantly told to use this skill, it is useless to them. According to Kyle Wiens, a CEO of a software company “I hire people who care about those details. Applicants who don’t think writing is important are likely to think lots of other (important) things also aren’t important.” Coming from a CEO of a very successful company, this shows that kids are not taught to use tools when they go out into the world. In other words, when kids leave school they fail to understand that the tools that are learned are not exclusive to that assignment.

Concepts like business proposals are important, but are not taught in public schools. It often feels like many students are held from there potential in literacy. This is because there are two types of students; the student who realizes that the things being taught in school are to improve your future, and the students who do not see past grades. The students who do not see past grades do not have the prerogative to find out how important other forms of writing are to their future. In other words, the students who do not see past grades are ignorant or lacking knowledge. Kyle Wiens, the software company CEO states “On the face of it, my zero tolerance approach to grammar errors might seem a little unfair. After all, grammar has nothing to do with job performance, or creativity, or intelligence, right? Wrong. If it takes someone more than 20 years to notice how to properly use “it’s,”then that’s not a learning curve I’m comfortable with. So, even in this hyper-competitive market, I will pass on a great programmer who cannot write.” The curriculum is to blame that teachers teach for these learning curves, because students potential is not tapped into.

Learning is poorly defined, and often becomes foggy to students. Students often confuse temporarily obtaining information with learning information.  Now let this be clear, do not put blame on the students. The teacher’s curriculum is at fault for keeping these tools exclusive to the class/assignment. A student cannot see past grades because the prerogative to do so is non-existent. There is little real world application to the material taught, which makes the student unknowing that there is any. If kids were taught the real world applications there could be more motivation to try to learn these topics”I put my head down, why did I have to learn this? When was I ever going to use creative writing in real life. I felt like throwing my book on the floor and walking out of the room, but I couldn't because if I didn’t get good grades then I would not be able to do what I wanted in life; baseball. I knew that I had to get good grades to play baseball in college, but I felt like everything that I was learning was useless. Everything that I had done in life never led back to school subjects. I felt like everything that I used on a daily bases I had taught myself. “This is stupid!” I yelled out.” This is a prime example of a student who can not see past grades. Since there is no real world examples shown, it is hard for the student to actually apply the material to their lives. This structure leaves a majority of the classroom in a hole when they get to college.

If students had real world applications they would be motivated to learn, but the curriculum does not include that because those students are classified as useless. It is important to learn how to write in different lights and careers. If students had this, schools would be a more intuitive, and positive place for kids. CEO’s agree that many applicants do not know the importance of writing, that is because kids do not see how it can help them when they step out of school. If curriculum changed to include real life connections, the kids who are classified as “hopeless” by the system would be productive and would succeed.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
Throughout the process of this quarter I questioned what made me who I am. This coincidentally was perfect because I could create a piece of artwork on a ceiling tile. For some reason I thought of Sponge-bob, a character from a show that I loved as a kid. I chose to draw him because it made me feel how I felt as a kid, which I think is critical to utilize while making art. My favorite part about my piece of artwork was that it took me back to imagination. That is one thing that I think many people tend to lose as they grow up. My second piece of artwork was my take on a album cover that I always loved. Kanye west has always been my idol since I was a little kid, So to continue with the theme of a kids dream, I drew his album. I used a lot of what I had learned in my lesson review to draw this, by starting with shapes and then continuing finding other shapes to start with. My favorite assignment was the Pumpkin assignment. I made a despicable me minion, because I loved the look on the pumpkin. I wanted to make small shapes into something that people could recognize and I did that with this depiction of the Minion.
My final piece of artwork was my self portrait. It was very hard for me to do this because it was surprising to realize how little I look at myself. I had to recognize the little things in my face that I usually do not. I was able to do this and did a really good job of not over thinking anything and just doing my best going off of a photo. In the end I wanted to bring the kid mindset back to my artwork, with creative thinking.

Advanced Essay #1

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar in English 3 - Block - E on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10:56 am
My goal in my advanced essay was to give the reader a real sense of his/her environment. I tried to do this with detailed writing, and a lot of description of the environment. I feel like I did this very well, and gave the reader a strong sense to make him feel like they were at the same place I was. I would like to improve however the way of how I got carried away, and forgot to switch point of views. This is hard to do in one sitting, and needs more attention other than description
Advanced Essay #1
“Kanye! Kanye! Kanye!” I heard the crowd chant behind me. There were tens of thousands of fans surrounding me. It was almost scary. I was starting to feel trapped. Kanye West had trapped me in his crowd of admirers. But as I look back at that night, I find that I was not trapped at all. I have come to a new theory. I wasn’t trapped. I was just nervous because I was surrounded by people who appreciated the same art as I did. This is rare and I appreciate the conversations that I had and the information that I gathered. It is amazing to see how similar you are to people who are inspired by the same things. You tend to have the same interests. “Waiting for a package is so bittersweet. You know that it’s coming but you almost never can know exactly when. Waiting is just not my thing. So when I ordered my first pair of Yeezy’s shoes, I was excited but I was annoyed. I would come home everyday checking my whole porch after I checked my doorstep. I was a little too excited for these shoes.” The shoes represented more than just shoes to me. Obviously I liked them because they were fresh. One of my favorite things to do is look good. They say “If you look good you feel good” But these shoes were my interests and most importantly, made by my idol.

I was happy because I was supporting what designs my favorite artist was making and I was watching his dreams play out as I see mine doing in the future. I think it is very important to have some sort of role model as a kid. Sometimes parents do not give you all the support you need so you look to other places to mold you. You are your role models, because you aim to be like them. You are inspired by their actions and often you try to be more like them. Kanye West was a big role model for me because he always stood up for what he believed in. His ideas are never compromised by those around him who always try to tell him what to do. And I believe that thoroughly; If you have something to say, you must put it out there in the world so that it can become more than just a thought. The world can always use more ideas.

Kanye once said: “Nothing in life is promised except death.” To me this is very inspirational. What this quote means to me is that if you have a purpose in life you need to give it 100% because failure is not the worst thing in the world. The worst thing in the world is dying without having anything in your life to show your success. That is why it is important for you to work at the things you love, and never give up. The only thing that you can know is that you will die. You do not know how anything will pan out. So in this time you are given you have to take advantage of it and really live it to the fullest. This is why I always feel like I need to hurry up and make my dreams come true. I constantly am anxious that I am running out of time.

“I remember sitting in my room as a little child doing my homework. It was a rainy day and my mom had not gotten home from work yet so I busied myself with school. My dad was home but he was working in his room. Lately, I was feeling down. I was always bored and I didn’t like the kids at my school very much. We just never clicked. When I heard the door open, I started to run down the stairs in excitement to see my mom.” This is the type of excitement that I have always felt when it has came to this man’s art. It has always spoke to me. It never mattered if it were a song or if it were clothing or actual art. The amount of effort that he puts into his work is impeccable and can not be duplicated. But I aim to be as courageous and brave as he is and want to complete my dreams like he has.

I really enjoyed working on Quarter 4 art this year. It was a pleasure to do something for a grade which also enabled me to get out my creative personality. For my first project I wanted to draw a photo of one of Kanye West's most famous album covers. I did this with incorporating the same colors and photo on a bigger piece of paper, making sure I did not leave out details because that was the important part of the project. For my second project I wanted to make sure I did something that was a little bit harder to do. That is why I decided to draw a photo of Kanye West while performing. I made sure to make note of the things he does during performance and one of the things that makes him such a unique talent. I did this by taking the lights from his performances. For my final project I wanted to highlight a album that was very close to me. This was "The college dropout" by Kanye West. I drew the album artwork for the project, making sure to capture the small details that the artwork contains. This probably was the hardest of all of the projects to capture because of all of the small details in the photo. Overall I very much enjoyed these projects and if i were to do it again I would just give myself more time to work.

ARTIST statement:
In my art i tried to capture a very calm and happy vibe. I think I did just that with my Animal sketch because the dog was very calm. This was by far my favorite piece of art that I did this quarter. The reason behind this is i really enjoy animals, plus i thought that the vibe of my photo was energetic but also happy. Another piece of art that I very much enjoyed making was the basic shapes. This was very fun because you could see the shapes come together as you were doing the drawing. I ended up making a Calvin and Hobbes photo to go with my theme of calm and happy. The reason that this is calm is because it is just a cartoon for kids, which although has a violent scene still gives off a good vibe. For week 5 and 6 I learned how to correctly shade. This helped me in more than just this class because i now know how to shade for the rest of my classes and also when I want to draw in life. The shading skill was the most useful skill I learned this quarter I was also proud of my Self portrait because it was a good depiction of myself. It was hard to draw my eyes but I learned how to online.

Artist Statement

During this quarter, I definitely felt more comfortable with my artwork. I really enjoyed doing some of the artwork that was required of me this quarter. One of my favorite pieces of art work was the assignment where we were told to edit a photo and show the before and after. I enjoyed this because it gave us a chance to do a different kind of art which I enjoyed. When I was doing my college, I wanted to pinpoint something that I saw a lot in modern magazines. And while flipping through some pages I realized that most of the ads pinpointed one demographic; Americans. This was perfect for me because not only do I love the United States of America, but i felt like it would make for a cool collage. I cut out all of the things That I saw that seemed like it was being pointed towards that demographic, and I came out with this collage.

While drawing the fabric, I just really wanted to get the shading right. I think I did a really good job with that. As far as the editing of the photo, I think I had the most fun, I got to edit a photo of Kanye West and make his image seem much more dark yet stand out. I was really happy with how i toned down all of the background and pinpointed him as the main attraction. I then highlighted all of the bright colors and brought all of the attention to that. My final piece of art was a portrait of a poem. And the poem was about happiness, so I envisioned a town full of happy people. I think that it came out looking exactly how I wanted it to. At the end of the quarter I am very happy with all of my final products and I am excited to learn more and more about Art and how to make the best product that I can

My art was made with a very broad meaning, being straightforward yet beautiful. The reason that I created these pieces were because they had a very close mean to me. The art that I enjoyed making the most was in weeks five through six. I re-created a piece of art that was included on Kanye West album graduation. His music holds a very strong and close meeting to my hear and I think molded me into the person I am today. Music in my opinion a form of art, and just like the drawing it can be colorful and vibrant.
The messages that I am trying to give as a person is that the things that shape you mold you into the person that you are, and that is depicted in the art. Although I would not consider myself an artist, I can convey a strong message through project. That is what I attempted to do here. I used Various colors that were very bright and both weeks two through three and five through six. The reason I picked these drawings are because of being a cartoon is affiliated with being a kid. The message is that being yourself is alright , and in my case I feel like I will always be young kid, with the young mine. The bright colors brought out a very active and I'll be feeling to the painting.

Climate change Monoloque project

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 11:54 pm
ELLA PETERSEN AND LUKAS SUPOVITZ-AZNAR
Our unit of study was about climate change and what we are doing to contribute to it. In order to learn about how it affects certain people and how different parts of the globe are being affected, we used monologues. When writing monologues, we got to experience climate change through different perspectives and this helped us grasp the concept of climate change better. Climate change is not a simple thing and the only way to fully comprehend it we need to know the different ways it plays out in different places. These monologues helped us to realize that climate change is not a distant thing. It’s happening right now, and the damage is constantly being done.
Perspective of an Inuit
This climate change. Its been years, and the weather continues to change my life. Climate change has changed my life. Im so used to the cold, it has been like this for my whole life. But the climate change has really gotten very drastic so it is very hard for me to continue to live my life the same way as i have always done it. I am open to change but not like this. The worst part of all of this is I know that it is only going to get worse, and I keep getting these blows. First I just have to re-locate where I live. But my tribe has lived her for so long. I don't know how it is out there, all i see is it is getting hot.  In a place where it pure natural, you are alone with the winter. And every year the Autumn Freeze-up happend around the same time, but now with the climate change happening it occurs up to a month later than it should be. The spring thaw comes earlier every year, and it seems like everything that we instituted into our tribe and our culture is coming to an end. The hot weather in the summer is something that we are not used to. It is not how it is supposed to be, it melts a lot of ice, so we are not left with normal turane.
I have to start moving again, because all of the ice is getting my home damp. I don't know how long i can do this. A world leader has to do something about this, How will my kids live in this world I don't know.  Something has to change, but its the environment. I can not control what happens and that is the hardest thing to understand. My whole tribe is in a frenzy, i really hate how much this involves the whole community. Poor Uhiti, he warned all of us, but we just continued to do what we did. I guess that we will deal with it, and then we will end up happier.

Victim of Hurricane sandy
Its been three days since my home has been destroyed. I would have never thought that I would be homeless. It was just a week ago where i felt on top of the world, I had just earned a raise. Sandy they called it, what a terror. Tore my whole house apart, lucky I was staying at a freinds. But how can I be upset, Its our faults right? I feel like we did this to ourselves. This hurricane would have never happened if we just cared about our environment. If we just cared about our stupid environment I wouldn't be homeless. If we just cared about our stupid environment Scrappy would be alive. Man I miss scrappy, little fella. It seems like it really came back to bite me in the butt. But it can’t all be me, I couldn't have done it myself even if i wanted to. So it was not my fault! Our goddamn society ruined my house, my city is underwater and I lost my dog. I went to college, how the hell can i be homeless.
My life is a mess, i dont even know where to start. Where will I live. And right now, i live in a ford focus. I guess not totally homeless. But if i'm not homeless i'm hopeless, I just can't seem to see the end of this. Thank god all of my friends are okay, if they were not I don't know what i would do. Damn, i wonder how badly my house is, I saw pictures and it looks like I am going have to find a new house. I guess I will just start over, time to stop double thinking myself and just commit to something, I think it will be for the better. I just can not get it out my mind that all of this could have been avoided if we as humanity cared about our home and this planet. As much as we get from the planet, we also take it for granted. And destroy it daily, so know we are paying for it, and so is scrappy.

Making her Suffer
Watching your friend suffer is hard. Watching your friend suffer due to something that you know you contributed to is even harder.
I’ve never been a recycler, I’ve never been a nature person, and I’ve definitely never stopped to ask myself how my decisions are impacting the world I live in. When I got the call from my best friend that I had known since basically birth, she told me that her house was torn down, her mom had died and there was little relief going on in her town in the Philippines right now. This was all due to an unexpected hurricane that shook her town into oblivion.
I didn’t know what to do but tell her it was going to be alright and offer to fly her out to my house to live with me for a while. But I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of guilt for the way I’ve treated my earth.
For the past 20 years, until that moment I had been living in a fish bowl, not realizing the things that I was doing actually had consequences. All the stuff that I had put into that landfill or all the energy that I use that contributes to the burning of fossil fuels and speeds up the rate of climate change.
I’m not blaming only myself, I am just aware that I  am one of the many ignorant beings that do not understand what I am doing to my home. These natural disasters that people suffer through such as my friend, are getting bigger and bigger. For me to just stand by and watch this happen is unthinkable.
The earth can’t speak for itself. We need to realize the signs and we need to make it right. We’ve already done irreversible damage, let’s not do more. I’m starting with myself, not just for me, not just for the earth, but for my best friend. I think it’s not too late.

Complaining for a Change
For me to say that I hate climate change would be an understatement. The only reason I make money is because of the climate. The only reason I’m alive is because of the climate. Climate change is a nightmare that I am living.
I am a farmer. I work morning and night to keep my piece of land plentiful and I am also an in love with my planet. Lately though, things have been happening. I live in Florida. It’s very warm here generally but recently the temperatures have been lower than usual. This means crops dying left and right. Life as I’ve always known it seems to be falling apart. All I know is farming. I’m the best at what I do. I have never been in another profession. And climate change is slowly draining my money. I can’t sell and produce with the weather that has been going on lately.
If you ask me what motivates people to make a change, I wouldn’t have an answer. I believe that people won’t be determined to make a change until it’s too late. We tend to push things off and if we aren’t making a difference now then when will we? When the hurricanes get stronger or the tornados move faster? I can’t say, but I do know that we’re doomed as of right now.
But I guess I’m a hypocrite because what am I doing for climate change? Just whining about how no one is doing anything. I use quite a bit of energy, I don’t protest, and I most certainly do not get thrown in jail for mother nature. If I want a change, I need to start with myself.

Saving my Home
As a person living in Africa, my life has already suffered many stresses. The effects of climate change have yet to destroy my life.
Africa has struggled for many years, leaving us with a history of death, violence, but also beauty. Our land is full of exotic animals and amazing wildlife. To think that this is threatened is beside me.
By 2020, 75 to 250 million people are going to be experiencing more water problems than ever before due to climate change.
Our agriculture is at risk. Many of it is rain fed, and we will be suffering major droughts due to climate change. Africa has a lot of economic stress right now meaning that many people already are at a shortage of food. With the shortage of rain making less food, this means disaster.
What annoys me most is that I can’t really do much. I feel very disconnected from the world leaders that could actually make a difference with regard to climate change if they wanted to.
I don’t know who to turn to or who to blame but I do know that if we don’t change our ways soon then everyone including my beautiful homeland is doomed.
It starts with me asking you for help and it ends with a chain reaction. I need our earth. And so do you, for that matter. We all do.
It feels so awful to know that our poor planet is suffering due to us and our lazy, greedy, ignorant actions. I just hope that it gets the help it deserves before it’s too late. I love my earth and I love my Africa, and I can’t stand to see them suffer any longer.

  • A. What is negative space (explain this concept to a fourth grader that has never heard of it):  There are two space types in every photo, this is the base and the background.
  • B. Explain how you found negative space in 1. your cut out?, 2. in your stool drawing?: there were diffrent shading so i just cut out the shaded part.
  • C. Why does it help an artist to see in negative space?: when using negative space it makes the main part pop more and be more defined.
  • D. How is negative space useful in creating art?: So things are easier to see and it can pop more

Lukas Aznar Q2 Media Fluency

Posted by Lukas Supovitz-Aznar in Technology- Freshmen - Hull - y1 on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:43 am
The reason that i chose this picture for the slide is i believe that is had a good backing to simplicity and also it showed my view point. I belive that if you believe in something, everything that you are doing should be working towards that goal. This is shown in my slide because i have a quote by will smith that says if you have a dream, every penny of yours has to be working towards that goal.
Another reason i chose this picture is because it shows a baseball field, this is something i am passionate about. This is something that i want to work my whole life at, and put in the maximum effort that i can. My baseball dreams and passions tie into the quote because this really shows that i want to put in as much effort and money and time as i can into baseball. This really represents me, baseball and hard work. Effort and dedication is what describes my personality. My slide not only shows simplicity, but also a complex sense.
