A Day In the Life of an Australian Child.

Australia was very easy to do in a way, because​ they really relate to the western part of the world. A lot of the customs Australia does mimic what America does. An Australian kid can sit down all day in play video games, watch the new episode of his favorite show and go on dates like a normal child. I expected all of these things because my previous knowledge of Australia that why it is big on tourist sales. They do have indigenous Australians, who like the natives, have the same equal right. I would expect them to treat them different, but because Australia is such a happy place they are huge on equality. They have one of the best healthcare system some people in America could have. They are a peaceful place and raising your children in Australia is the best bet for them to have a wonderful life.

A Day In The Life : Austria

Kids who live in austria have pretty similar lives to those of the U.S.. They get up in the morning and do the daily morning rituals. Well for some of us that is. That includes waking up to brush their teeth, fixing themselves up in the mirror, then putting clothes on and gearing up for the day. They then partake in eating breakfast which consists of usual breakfast things like cereal or toast, eggs, Oj, and bacon. Afterwards they grab there backpacks and they head for the bus stop. They travel to school and their school day officially begins. After classes until about 3 they make their ways home. Thats when the real fun begins. (:. They watch TV, play games, and get into child like stuff. Of course this all happens after homework is done. Then they have diner with the family. Finally here comes bedtime. After a good nights rest they get up and do it all over again. 


Reflection

Doing research on how the kids live in Austria it didn't really surprise me how similar there daily lives as a child were to ours. When I was there age my life was pretty bland, well not bland but expected. The whole daily routine thing, and since I didn't go out like I do now it was really a routine thing. Being 40 in Austria I feel like there life would be pretty chill. They don't give off the hint that you need to be extra this to have this kind of job or anything.

A Day In the Life Of... A Kid in France

A french boy or girl goes to school on a regular basis. French schools are very socio-economically diverse, and racially diverse in some areas. The children get out for a lunch break to go home then go back to resume their classes in the afternoon. 

The French have a high standard of living, and the same goes for the children. They eat well, as they are known for their abundant and exquisite cuisine. They enjoy high end clothing, as Paris is the fashion capital of the world. You can find even a 12 year wearing the latest trends from that year's Paris Fashion Show. 

The children definitely have a higher appreciation for art than American kids in my opinion, just because of the artistic culture infused in France. Most kids engage is some sort of sport, soccer is very popular among boys and ballet, which was invented in France, is popular among females. 

France is a very advanced nation, so the life of a 12 year old there wouldn't be very different than that of a 12 year old American, the values maybe slightly different but the overall layout is the same. 

Reflection: I think that I lived in a similar fashion just because of where I'm originally from. Algeria is heavily influenced by French culture, so growing up there and being raised with those values there are many similarities between me and somebody raised in France. I think that the French have a good standard of living. Things are much simpler there. When this child is 40 they will probably have a good job, a nice villa, and a nice car, which are luxuries the French view as absolute necessities. 

4th Quarter Benchmark Description

Globalization 4th Quarter Benchmark

Big Idea: Evidence of globalization is everywhere in our day-to-day activities.  All around us, the influences of global factors drive decisions, impressions and understanding.  In order to internalize this influence and impact, we look to our familiar surroundings for images that represent the different topics and themes we study in Globalization.


Basics:

  • Take 10 original photos that represent a different aspect of the globalization curriculum – reference the course outline for a list of the themes and concepts
  • For each of the images, write at least two paragraphs that explain the connections between the image and the globalization theme.  These paragraphs need to draw clear connections between the theme, Philadelphia and reputable resources.
  • A 10 source bibliography (not annotated) MLA format
  • Choose a presentation tool that best represents your ideas (this are just a few ideas, there are many, many more)

Suggested Use of Time in Class:


Week One:  Brainstorm a list of images/scenes that you would like to capture and tie each of those to a theme from the Globalization course outline.


Week Two: Research each of the themes, looking for a reputable source to support the ideas you would like to represent in each of the different images and corresponding paragraphs.  When you write your paragraphs, you should specifically cite these sources in the paragraphs.


Week Three: Write your paragraphs and complete your bibliography, pull together the images, paragraphs and bibliography into a published format.


Outside of class homework: Collect images and finalize any requirements not finished in class.

The demographic shift within Alma Center, WI is best exemplified by these side by side signs.  Over the past 20 years, the number of Spanish speaking immigrants has grown dramatically in this small, rural farming town.  Interestingly the long settled families of this area match many of the cultural and societal norms of the new immigrants settling in the area with a focus on religion and families.  Prior to the recent migration of Latino immigrants, the predominant cultural backgrounds were from Northern Europe.

When it comes to that contract that your about to sign 
Everything will be better once you've written your name
You hands feel sweaty, and your heart is beating fast
The person next to you to smiling
Telling you everything will be okay
But look at it closely
All the lies will come to view
The info explaining on how this contract won't make things better
That would even make a demon shrill
So take a breath, but don't hold it in to long
Because by reading between the lines
You may be stopping yourself from making a big mistake

Rigoberta Menchú es una activista de Guatemala.  Ella luchaba por la igualdad de las mayas en Guatemala y ganó el Premio Nobel de la paz.  Martin Luther King era un pacifista también, quien luchaba por derechas civiles. Los dos hablaban mucho sobre las problemas en sus países y eran víctimas de mucho violencia.  Luchaba con sus palabras.


Son diferentes porque Menchú está viviendo, pero MLK estuvo asesinado. Además, King era de la menoría en los E.E.U.U., pero las mayas son la mayoría en Guatemala. 


Menchú no se incluye en los textos de historia porque ella es una mujer y no es de Europea. Nuestra historia estuve escrito por los hombres de Europea.

 R. Menchu es un activista quien luchara por los derechos civil en Guatemala. Ella organizarió a los indicios para que se defenderian contra la violencia del gobierno. Ella se escapó de la respresión del gobierno de Guatemala durante las décadas de los 70 y los 80, cuando muchas personas murieron, inclyuyendo miembros de la familia de Rigoberta. El otras activista es Martin Luther King. Martin Luther King es concio en E.E.U.U. por lucha el racismo en E.E.U.U. Los dos tienen (como común) activista, y luchó por un pais…y los dos estan personas (jaja). Differencias estan, Mlk luchó por E.E.U.U. y, R. Menchu luchó por Guatemala. No se por que el gobierno eliminado los textos de R. Menchu de historia. Pienso que tal vez el gobierno no quiere al actions by her ser remembered

3. Ambos luchan en los revoluciones. Tambíen, ellas luchan de dictadores en países.

Escogí a Las Mariposas, tres hermanas en la Republica Dominicana que luchaba contra Trujillo [el dictador].

¿Qué tienen en común?
Los dos son mujeres que luchaba contra un Dictador, los dos tambien eran torturadas.

¿Cuáles son unas diferencias entre los dos?
Rigoberta Menchú viví en Guatemala, fue exijilada, aunque no pudria leer escribio un libro y gano un premio Nobel. Las Mariposas vivian en la Republica Dominicana, fueran encarceladas, rebelio activamente, [una hermana] era una abogada y eran asesinada.

Rigoberta Menchú es una persona de buen corazón y es cariñosa. Ella es bien famosa por sus actos y decursos por los derecha de la gente. Nació en Guatemala, un país a lado de océano Pacífico y el Golfo de México. Habla quiche y ahora sabe hablar el español. El otro pacifista que escogí fue Martín Luther King. El también es una persona de buen corazón y cariñosa quien nació en Alabama. 

Los que tienen en común es que ellos hicieron discursos, actos de no-violencia, escribieron libros, lucharon por el derecho de las gente, querían paz, y ganararon un premio Nobel de la paz. La diferencia entre Rigoberta Menchú y MLK es, Rigoberta Menchú luchó por el derecho de los hispanos en Guatemala y Martín Luther King luchó por el derecho de la igualdad entre negros y blancos. 

Creo que no incluyen Rigoberta Menchú porque creen que el devenir de América y la lucha por la igualdad de derechos es más importante. Todos en realmente que aprendimos  a la largo de K-12 es la historia de negro y los fundadores de América. Todo de eso son importantes, pero son otras personas y lugares que deben obtener el reconocimiento como Rigoberta Menchú.

    • RIgoberta Menchú es una activista famosa en Ameríca Latina y pacifista.  Ella es de Guatemala, y había luchando por derechos de la clase media y pobres.  Además Rigoberta es Maya, y luchaba en contra de racismo para los indígenos como ella.  Rigoberta trabaja para informar la pública sobre su cultura, y los problemas los encuentran.  
  2. ¿Quién es (el otro pacifista que escogerion)?
    • Escogí Martin Luther King, quien luchaba para derechos civil en America entre los blancos y los America-Africanos.
  3. ¿Qué tienen en común?
    • Los dos luchaba para derechos de una cultura que encontraban violencia y racismo por muchos años.  Escribieron y hablaron al gente sobre los problemas, por informar.  Por eso, hicieron famosos.  
  4. ¿Cuáles son unas diferencias entre los dos?
    • Rigoberta Mechu era de un mayoria en su pais, pero MLK era del menoria.  MLK estuve assasinado, pero Rigoberta toavia esta luchando.  
  5. ¿Por qué crees que no se incluye Menchú en los textos de historia ni en el curriculo?
    • Ella no es de. E.E.U.U. o Europa, que están "más importante" en la educación.

Rigoberta Menchú es una activista que es de Guatemala. En Guatemala ella viene de un grupo indígena de discriminada. Ella lucha para los derechos de su patria en esperanza de un país mejor. Rigoberta lucha por los derechos sin violencia pero con paz.

 

2.    ¿Quién es (el otro pacifista que escogerion)?

 

      El otro pacifista que escogí fue el activista Mahatma Gandhi.

  3.    ¿Qué tienen en común?

 

Rigoberta y Mahatma fueron de grupos indígenas. También lucharon para sus patrias. Los dos decidieron luchar con paz y no con violencia.

 

4.    ¿Cuáles son unas diferencias entre los dos?

 

Unas diferencias entre los dos es que la familia de Rigoberta fue asesinados por soldados, pero nadie de la familia de Mahatma murió por este manera. Rigoberta fue violada y nada le paso a Mahatma. También Mahatma era de India, pero Rigoberta es de Guatemala.

 

5.    ¿Por qué crees que no se incluye Menchú en los textos de historia ni en el currículo?

 

Creo que Menchú no es incluida en los textos de historia ni en el currículo de los Estados Unidos porque no fue una batalla con los Estados Unidos y tanpoco  es de America.

~Los dos fue exilió. No usan violencia, y luchan por los derechos humanos.

~Rigoberta Menchú es de Guatemala, es una mujer, escribí un libro, vive hoy, habla Quiche primero, y fue inalfabeta antes de escribir su libro. Ghandi fue de India, fue un hombre, no escribe un libro, usó tiempo de no comer para luchar y está muerto.

Rigoberta Menchú es guatemalteca y activista de derechos indígenas de los mayas. Gandhi es un líder nacionalista indio contra la violencia. Los dos lucharon por la paz y eran inteligentes. Fueron grandes líderes de sus países. Rigoberta lucharon por Guatemala y Gandhi luchó por la India. Rigoberta ganó el premio Nobel de la Paz. Gandhi fue nominado antes, pero nunca lo recibió. Ella era una mujer y no era muy inteligente, de modo que pensó que no estaba calificado.

Una Gran pero Similar División

Rigoberta Menchú es una activista por los derechos humanos de muchas personas.  Ella viví hoy, y se continua a luchar por las personas de Guatemala. Aunque los padres fueron asesinaron, el fuerza de ella viví en su mente. Una otra pacifista es Dr. Martín Luther King jr., quien vivía en Los EE.UU. en Atlanta, Georgia. Aunque Dr. King es muerte porque fue asesinó, el legado de él viví hoy. Los dos tener un común como luchan por los derechos humanos, ellos eran muy religioso, da decursos, escribieron un libro, preformaron actos de non-violencia no esta importando cuantos personas eran matar, y los dos ganaron el Premio Nobel de la Paz. Los dos eran personas importantes en el mundo y no se olvidan en el futuro.

 

Textos de historia no incluyen información sobre Menchú  en el currículo porque ellos piensan que la historia de otras países son muy importante tan la pequeña país de Guatemala. Textos foco en las países que tienen una impacto dramático en el económico, y como el mundo es ahora.
