The reason i'm going to use this for my capstone is for understanding of comedy, i've created a way for just about everyone to understand the science behind laughter, and using this method will help us construct better story lines, scripts, and jokes, knowing the a secret to comedy really does improve you're way of thinking and you're understanding of what really makes us laugh. i created this system after a series of times studying the way i react to laughter.

gilly, richard. N.p., 24 08 2003. Web. 31 Jan. 2014. <http://www.openculture.com/2009/10/ira_glass_on_the_art_of_story_telling.html >.

Now this is a source i'm going to use as an example to the people in the group, i'm going to show them the videos on the website and expand on the information on the videos with our own creative way of writing the stories, using our idea combined with this information on the site/video, will help us improve our way of story writing, because there are stories that are good and stories that are bad, and they are head to know sometimes (especially when you're the one writing it, sometimes you're ego gets in the way and you don't follow the structure, but that doesn't mean all stories have to be the same, all I'm trying to do with this info, is try to make the videos/films move with the story more and more perfectly as we create videos/films

http://www.imdb.com

(A website used to give information, nothing specific yet)

To give information about certain movies because this site gets really deep with actors, films, directors, producers, etc. anything to independent films to popular films, Imdb could gives us clips, photos of behind the scenes, and personal pictures that the actors/director puts on the site them self.

http://www.meetup.com/

(A site used to find people, no information but information on finding people with common interests)

could use this site to find people that are particularly good at one thing involving a movie and use them for that par, (probably going to switch out these types of people ever video, besides people in the main ILP) It's going to help by learning to work with different people, getting people inspired to do it, and make people feel creative changing the way their wired so they can be more confident within themselves.

Scottman, Ron. Truth in Comedy: The Manual of Improvisation. Las Angeles: independent, 1999. Print.

Although learning a script is important, it is more important if the actor feels natural saying it, saying the script exactly could make an actor nervous, but giving them the freedom to say what comes natural but get the point across, it can work, but not in all situations, but it's important if they can improv so this book is good with that.

Brigade, Upright. Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual. newyork: newyork times, 2004. Print.

I want to have this as another source of improv because this book has different methods and newer methods to add on to the truth in comedy but i believe that they are both equally important to the independent film group.

Straczynski, J. Michael . The Complete Book of Scriptwriting. Cleveland: penguin, 1997. Print.

This book will help me format a script better and it will show us all different types of writing we could do in that sense, i will also learn more about moving a story forward instead of having a bunch of pointless scenes i could have a really good steady flowing movie. so i don't have to cut out scenes after i shoot them i will just have all good scenes

Zemeckis Robert. Back to the future

Movie. 1985. Universal studios

I'm going to make everyone in the group watch back to the future because i believe that it's a perfect movies to the last detail, when it comes to imagery, and scriptwriting and story telling, it has all the elements of a perfect movie, and the group will watch it and i'll explain how the scenes are set up and how there are deeper meaning to great movies.

wilson, Jack. N.p., 4 11 2008. Web. 31 Jan. 2014. <http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~candace/basics/shooting.htm >.

I believe that this site will teach us the right shoots we should use in certain scenes wither its a close a medium or whatever, this site will inform us on the shots we could should and shouldn't use. as opposed to one shot scenes which won't make the movie interesting. and more theatrical.

jake, shmitt. "information please camera shots." camera shots. N.p., 7 4 2011. Web. 31 Jan. 2014. <Pearson Education>.

I believe it is very important that we get a better understanding on the sounds and audio parts of the editing process, the audio is very important, i could make, or break you're film, and if you are sloppy with it, no matter how good the camera shots are, all together the film will be bad, so we must study this more

Q4 benchmark Storytelling Joseph Tartaglia: Interplanetary Travle

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Storytelling - Rami - C on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:13 am

  • What did you set out to do?
What my original plan was to make a very visually stimulating video based off the hit song "good times" by chic. and it turned out being partway that, i wanted a story type of feel to it, so what i did was rapped a story over the good times beat, than introducing the conflict of the alien, i was making this thinking that a lot of people would enjoy it and i believe they would

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?

They way it shows storytelling is because the conflict of the story comes from two people that are from different places and have different experiences they argue at first but it turns out the way you look at it is that although you are from somewhere else, you can find something in common, and the way it came to a similarity is that they are both not from earth, and that is the conclusion of the story as told

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I hope that they enjoy the video as well as the point i am trying to make in it and that is every body should get along, no matter the differences. and i want them to understand that the first time watching and not have to watch it three times to get the point

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
I gained experience with music, video editing, writing, song writings, my speech developing from rapping as well.

selfie

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Storytelling - Rami - C on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 9:54 pm
I decided to draw all of my Selfies because i wanted to express my creative side, i feel that a picture couldn't help me express what i needed to get though, so i drew one based off of one i saw online, it was very interesting and it defied the laws of logic where the sheep are floating and so are the bricks to the building, i also drew one that represented a struggle i have had in my life, with this witch i have been battling since i was a child, but only a month ago was i able to defeat my enemy, it was a huge impact on my life, so i decided to drawl a selfie of it, the third one shows my love for nature and trees, by drawling a world 100% ran by tree people, making my self in this one, part tree, i got the idea when i was taking a picture of myself near a tree, and i thought, instead of using this picture with me near a tree, why not one of me being a tree. so this is where these self portraits came about.

Food project

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Science and Society - Best - E on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Ingredients:

Light cream

Grated Cheese

Chicken

Artichokes

Pasta

Garlic

Oil

Butter

Directions:

Cut chicken into fourths

Heat butter and oil and garlic

add cream after a while

add grated cheese

Boil Pasta

MIX all in bowl

cook artichokes

Add them to bowl and mix

Completed

Nutrients:

All together a serving would be up to 200 calories, it's not the healthiest foods but it's all natural, we use the freshest cream they have in the supermarket, the cheese added is only 20 calories

The artichokes we buy fresh and cut up i'm not sure the calories but it's fresh and not from a can

The chicken we get the breasts and nothing else and we get the fat out of it with a knife and we cut them into fours and and taking out the fat gets rid of 40 callers from the 100 calories from the pack so the chicken lis only 60 calories

Analysis: What iv'e learned is that it doesn't matter how many callers something is to be healthy but where it comes from, i'd rather have a 200 calories home cooked meal than a 70 calorie Mc Donald's burger, because of how un natural it is and what it's made from, so even though my food is technically more un heathy, it's not because it comes from a legit place.

10/31/13 Capstone: Sound effects

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Capstone - Miles - Wed on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 9:04 am
I discussed how to use microphones and what type of microphones are good for what type of audio, I showed them how to create a sound that could sound like somethings else (for instance banging on a locker really fast sounds like gun shots through metal)

We also edited a sound effects track together and i showed them how to mix sound effects into each other so it would sound good, and not a mess.

Jtartaglia writing day

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Reading, Writing, and Rising Up - Rami - C on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 1:15 pm

writing helped me connect all sorts of ways from writing stories for people top read to sending messages to update each other, writing helped me in compunction, it helps me figure out different words to use in social conversations, such as stases on face book to oral presentations in class. Writing is a big part of my life, although its not always productive or educational i use it in my everyday life. writing helped me learn how to read, because i learned how to write first, so while writing i learned more, its a gateway experience that is useful to just about everyone, its one of the greatest manmade thing there is out there.

Position Paper: High school Dropouts

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in English 3 - Pahomov on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 9:07 am
What my group did was we made signs that give detail on dropping out and we also made interactive signs that you can pull a slip off of like one of thought guitar lesson flyers with the number on the little tab, we made QR codes on our flyers that lead us to our website. We placed these flyers all over the school in places that we assumed that people would look and we also got pictures of people reading our signs. The website has great detail on high school drop outs and reasons not to drop out with out, the website is nicely designed i believe but that is just my opinion, everything on the site is convenient and everything is where it's suppose to be, and all the links go to the right places.

Another thing we have is the survey, the survey asked important questions. asking if you know some one who dropped out or if you did drop out what grade where you in. the survey I believe made a big impact because i sent it to every one in my gmail list and I posted a link on Facebook, twitter, and I made sure people saw it. I also posted a link to the website on those sites i've just mentioned. The survey was well organized, there wasn't any spelling errors, the design wasn't too bland or too popping, it was a standard design nothing too spacial about it.

The slogan is what i made i made a couple of them than i picked the one i liked the best witch is "If you drop out of school, you're dropping of your future" I like this one because it's inspirational and i thought it was more thought out than the others, and it makes sense. The quote is in one of the interactive flyers at the top of the page, in a nice font that is big and noticeable at the top of the page, so it catches your eyes. it's long and short i have to say it looks kind of skinny but besides that, it looks good, there are no misspellings on any of the flyers, and there isn't any spacing errors either.

What I learned during this project is that most of the people who drop out of high school, usually are 9th graders, I don't know what it might be because of a big change, meeting new people harder work, it all depends on the person. and not a lot of people drop out there senior year it's the most early and the least late.

Joseph Tartaglia "Podcast"

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in English 2 - Pahomov on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 9:00 am
My Granddad's hard But charmed life and stories that he told me about getting by, He crossed a lot of boundaries ass a kid, and some as an adult.there is a bunch of life lessons and what you should and shouldn't do situations

PODCAST:  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12879970/interview.mp3

Reflection

The experience of doing interview, well in my podcast I interviewed my grandfather, twice. Once like earlier in the year, and the other time last week, there are two different interviews that I did some of them are old ones and most of them are ones from last week, I though in the old ones because some of them had a lot to do about crossing boundaries. Like stealing shoes, or stealing anything for that matter, I thing the main part or the crossing boundaries part is mostly about stealing things to survive, in the 1940s.

Editing was a lot easier then what I thought it would be, because the music I chose just went perfectly with the interview itself.

My weakness was about the volume itself, like the music was too loud while the voice was too low. Nothing I can’t fix though.

I agree with the comments my peers gave me because they are right, and honest about their feedback. Also they tell what, and what not to edit and they like most of the editing anyway.

J-tartaglia Daily Routine

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Spanish 2 - Gierke on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 9:53 am
This is my daily Routine

  Intro
This is basically my morning routine of what i do to get ready for school every day. I enjoyed finding the funny pictures.

   Reflection

I learned more about how to say you did stuff and how to use the words right in different sentences. The skills help if i ever need to talk to someone in spanish and I need to say the right meaning. I would change the fact that i used pictures instead of videos.

J Tartaglia benchmark G-Father

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in English 2 - Pahomov on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:42 pm
Joseph Tartaglia                                               1/4/12                                   Benchmark

“Ey yo jojo come ovea here.”

“Yeah pop?”

“I need to carry dis box indo tha ay whats it called ay, store.”

“O.k”

What is presented is conversation with my grandfather, the convection always starts out with me talking with right words until we get into a deeper conversation, and then I just start to pick up his accent. I start talking the same way he does, and sometimes I don’t realize I am but most of the time I do realize that I’m talking like him, and I don’t know why I do. Sometimes the accent stays with me for a couple of hours. I don’t realize that I still have the accent. When I still have the accent, people sometimes don’t take me seriously, and it gets annoying. At those points I know how my grandfather feels when we laugh at him, but it’s not his fault, because he never really went to school because he grew up poor, and that’s another reason that people don’t take him seriously.

There are also situations where he would say a whole sentence wrong. he would say something about a door like “Because of dah wood bottom.” when he really means “the bottom of the door is made out of wood that is the problem.” He would also curse a lot, which is a form of his personality not really a part of his accent. He would say “Joe can you stop fuckin aroun all the time, anded lisin to what I’m tryin to say?”

“Ay Joe, pass me them screws?”

“Yeah, sure gimmie a minute ight?”

“ight”

This is the point where I start to talk like him sometimes. I would switch on purpose, but there are times where I switch totally by accident, and I can be stuck in that accent for hours. I would do it to make fun of him but then I can’t control they way I talk after. It’s almost like karma because I to have the accent to make fun, and then I’m stuck with it for a couple hours and it usually gets annoying.

One time I was stuck in the accent in school, and the teacher called on me, and I got in trouble for using the accent, and I said it wasn’t my fault, the teacher said I was be obnoxious, but I wasn’t. It also is obnoxious  when someone calls my granddad annoying and dumb just because he doesn’t have proper grammar. I understand why people might think that but it doesn’t make it right to say it out loud, I only have the accent for a little while he’s stuck with it. All I can assume is that he makes fun of himself also, because all of his friends talk like that too.

“Ay yo Jo Jo.”

“Yeah?”

“Ahh when are goin to the uhh the, gym?”

“Tomorrow why?”

“I just wanted to know.”

The are also times where he would not know what to say or forget how to say something or not be able to spit it out, and sometimes I do that to, It’s not about the accent it’s that some words he doesn’t know too well and, he kind of get stressed over it, and sometimes it pisses me off knowing that he’s not able to talk a well as others but at least he tries and the fact that people don’t take him seriously is a big deal.

I guess it’s just a family curse.

J Tartaglia Monologue

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in English 2 - Pahomov on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 12:59 pm
Monologue Draft

Well doc it all started that one-day when I was patrolling the corner of 12th and Rooney I was just getting off my shift. I sat down in one of the out side seats and had my self a cup of coffee. I remember because I ordered a medium and, I got a small, so I made her send it back. If I only knew what was going to happen next I would have kept the coffee, and would have not have gotten mad over it. So she was on her way sending the coffee back.             I lit a cigarette, and start to smoke it.

All of the sudden this man with a ski mask come running out of a bank with a bag of money, runs into the coffee shop and takes everyone hostage. I sit there in a shock, my cigarette drops from my mouth into the coffee. The only thing I can think of is what is this, man, this psycho going to do to these people in this coffee shop. So then next thing I do is stand up and call for back up. But before I could call backup waitress make a run for it but as she got to the door the man shoots the waitress in the back of the head. She fall face first out the front door. She just was lying there with a hole in her head, and covered with her own blood. This is the first time in my career that I have seen any one get shot like that. I was sick to my stomach and was about to puke but I held my head up, and took it as it was. I yelled at him saying “come out with your hands up this is your last chance for you to give up or it will be by force.” Then all of the sudden the back up comes. I turn around to explain the situation, and I got shot in the arm from the guy, blind shooting out the front door. A tear comes running down my face. I start to think about my wife and kids, and all of my accomplishments vanishing into thin air. I start to black out and I feel numb, is this death? I was thinking to myself, or am I still alive. The next thing I noticed is a bright light and I think I’m in heaven because I see my kids and wife, but I focus more, and I’m is a hospital, I turn on the news, and the anchors said that they caught the bank robber, and that was my moment of peace and the feeling of accomplishment.

#WhyIWrite. Jtartaglia

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in English 2 - Pahomov on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1:14 pm
The reason i write is so people can understand any thing that I can't come up with on the spot. Like if i need to explain something to some one i could just write it down and they could read it at their own pace instead of me explaining it too fast to them and them not getting the right idea and do something wrong. Because you can all way look back at what someone or yourself wrote down. You might forget the things you sometimes say but if it's written down you can read it and remember to do something like take the task to the curb, or take the dog out for a walk. but writing isn't just for when yo need to remember something it could also be for if you have no other way to express how you feel you can write it down and it would relive the person's stress. writing also can be for entertainment reasons like for a play or for a movie you write for just about anything. you write in every class you are in. you write to keep notes and and keep track of score

ware house joseph tartaglia

Joseph tartaglia

“Oh, wanna go to South Street?”

“Naw, that’s not a good idea. We do that all the time.”

I was walking down the street with my friends, all of us board.

All of the sudden I had a bright Idea.

“Hey there’s a ware house on front and Washington we should go and explore it and see what’s up.”

My friends give me a weird face

Alex responded with “I don’t know man, it don’t seem like a good idea”

I responded to “Come on guys we should go do this it might be gone someday and we

will never get a chance, come on we only live once.”

Alex agreed “your right we do only have one life to live let take it to the limit”

We headed down to the warehouse to see that the door and windows where covered with wood panels so we tried to pull the off but it was no use. So we went home and decided to try tomorrow. We went back and tried again and we knocked the board down, and walked up the stairs, but all there was up there, was a broken window, and open walls that were broken down.

“Wanna go to the basement?” Moe asked

“Sure, up here is boring me.” I said

we made our way to the basement and found ourselves a set of stairs that lead to another basement that had a twisty staircase that went to the basement, and had no lights that lead us down so we decided to get fireworks, and a flashlight at the corner store. To buy such things and it got too dark out so we decided to do it next weekend because we had school the next day and it wasn’t worth getting in trouble over skipping school, so we were talking in school all week about what we thought was in the basement

“yo, dude if there is a dead body I’ma jet outta there” said Moe

“moe you can’t run if there was a Twinkie across the street” replied Alex

we couldn’t wait any long we decided to skip school on Wednesday and went to the ware house we where all nervous about if the teacher would find out or if we get caught, and get arrested 1000 things was going through my head and I couldn’t think straight and I was getting to the point of just not going into the basement at all I was at the erg of giving up and going to school, but I went through with going into the warehouse. Even though they won’t admit it my friends were as nervous as me.

we made our way to the basement and there was a man with a 2 by 4 ready to hit us with it, so we ran and right before we ran out the door i stepped on a nail
