When it comes to taking a selfie what mostly matters is who I’m taking it with and what mood am I in. My selfies show my personality and especially what my personality is like around certain people. If its someone who is my friend and I can feel comfortable with them then I most likely to take a silly picture. If its someone I love like family I’m more prone to take a selfie that shows my love for them, etc. The way I present myself to the world shows me as I am. I am the type of person who wants to be known for who they truly are, I can say that I’m as clear as a vase. I’m an open book and I try to portray that.

Keith Moody's Q4 BM Difference between then and now

Posted by Keith Moody in Storytelling - Rami - C on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:54 pm

  • What did you set out to do?
  • I set out to do multiple interviews then pick out 2 of them in which explained, the questions that I was asking in detail. These residents were giving their personal insight on what used to be. I also set out to find a couple of residents that were mainly born in the 20's and 30's so that we can see the history.

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
  • They tell their own stories through the interview. There are many people who would love to get their stories out and these residents were happy to do so.

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
  • I hope the audience gains a sense of feeling to the old days of life and be able to compare to theres. Even though things were cheaper life was a lot harder.

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
  • Gained a sense of confidence which allowed me to help guide the residents through a series of questions.

Q4 benchmark Storytelling Joseph Tartaglia: Interplanetary Travle

Posted by Joseph Tartaglia in Storytelling - Rami - C on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:13 am

  • What did you set out to do?
What my original plan was to make a very visually stimulating video based off the hit song "good times" by chic. and it turned out being partway that, i wanted a story type of feel to it, so what i did was rapped a story over the good times beat, than introducing the conflict of the alien, i was making this thinking that a lot of people would enjoy it and i believe they would

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?

They way it shows storytelling is because the conflict of the story comes from two people that are from different places and have different experiences they argue at first but it turns out the way you look at it is that although you are from somewhere else, you can find something in common, and the way it came to a similarity is that they are both not from earth, and that is the conclusion of the story as told

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I hope that they enjoy the video as well as the point i am trying to make in it and that is every body should get along, no matter the differences. and i want them to understand that the first time watching and not have to watch it three times to get the point

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
I gained experience with music, video editing, writing, song writings, my speech developing from rapping as well.

Benchmark

What did you set out to do?

I initially set out to use mentor texts to develop a new definition of power and compare power to leadership with examples in today's society. Once reading the mentor texts I had learned so much and had more to write about simply what I learned from the books. I set up a small collection of ideas and theories I learned from each text and how it could be applied to a social enterprise.

How did this work incorporate storytelling?

This work incorporated storytelling in the sense that it highlighted character development. The process of how an individual can enlighten themselves through education and use this information to make change is a story. Though not in the traditional sense, as it is an unfinished story and will remain that way until the "main character" dies. It is a reflective story

What do you hope your audience gains from your work?

I really hope that my audience can see that there is education beyond traditional school and in this new age where everyone is getting degrees it is important that you have an intellectual edge on the competition. I also want them to see that even if they don't go into business, that they should still keep a business, or entrepreneurial, mindset going about career matters.

What did you gain?

I gained a lot of new information and reflection time on myself. I go further into the things I learned in the actual text.

Chapter11-AfuneralDraft1

  • What did you set out to do?
Initially in my benchmark I planned to make a multimedia video that explained the process I went through in writing my first novel (which remains a 200 and something word work in progress). I wanted to explain to people how my writing grew and reflect on it, but unfortunately my camera was broken so I instead decided to write a new chapter that was not planned, which is about a funeral. It was inspired by the movie Harold and Maude.
  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
My piece is a story, and it is a story that may be confusing to some who don't know about the cartels, but I think life and death are interesting concepts that people don't think about too much. My piece incorporates the art of storytelling because in this chapter, I intend to make something beautiful out of fear which in its own sense is art. As someone famous once said "Art is supposed to make those who are too comfortable, uncomfortable, and those who are uncomfortable, comfortable.

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I hope my audience grasps an understanding of why cultural awareness is important, but more importantly I hope they take with them a piece of heart in their stories. I hope anyone who reads this chapter thinks about what it means to write, and I hope they gain a sense of enjoyment, as well as some room for thought about death and its meaning relative to our world.
  • What did you gain from doing this work.
I think this chapter was really experimental for me and I gained a better understanding of what death means to me, and how to describe emotion vividly. Mainly I think what I gain from this is advice and feedback from anyone who does decide to read it.

-What did you set out to do?
For this project What I set out to do was to tell a story about two people who have been a strong influence on me and who have changed my life so much in a good way. I wanted to show that family means so much and sometimes just saying I love you or I appreciate you can go a long way.
-How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
Everyone has there own special way of telling a story and what makes a story powerful is how unique It is. But I created something that is very personal to me and that makes me really emotional. It also talks about me and how I grew up. I used pictures and music to tell a story.
-What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
From watching this I hope my audience just learns something new about me and my thoughts why I do what I do, Why they hear me say I cant Im babysitting a lot, why I feel obligated to do certain things and I want people to see how much I care about my niece and nephew and I want them to see that you should really appreciate family because in the end they are all you have.
-What did you gain from doing this work.

From this work for one gained a lot of patience being said that I had a lot of technical difficulties, but besides that I also realized that I should appreciate the people in my life because they have such an impact on me and I may not even know it.

Karly Bornstein Q4 Storytelling BM~ Friendships

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrwBFk3bquo&feature=youtu.be <---Project here

  • What did you set out to do?
I was inspired by several videos to make my own video with the topic of friendship. This topic caught my interest from seeing different types of best friends around school, and friendship is also an important aspect of our lives. My idea was to talk to several best friends and do a short video on it based off of the questions I ask them.
  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
Best friends spend a lot of time together, and stories will definitely be created from that. By making this movie, it tells a story of different kinds of friends and experiences they've had together. I think my video really demonstrates the diversity of students who have had a really close friendship for a while.
  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I want my audience to see how great friendships are and how much they shape our lives. I hope they now go to their best friend and share stories.
  • What did you gain from doing this work?
I gained some more interviewing and editing skills. I really enjoyed interviewing all of the best friends. It was really interesting seeing how each of them interpreted the questions. I learned that you can't force answers out of people, and if they only want to give you short responses, you just have to work with that and make the best out of it.

  • What did you set out to do?
I set out to inform the people of C band Storytelling about a coincidence that I noticed after watching the NFL draft two weeks ago.  I noticed that the inspection of the players and their showcasing was extremely similar to the auction block selling of slaves. I felt as though it would prove intriguing and beneficial to enlighten people of this revelation.

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
My collage allows for me to express my true creativity, while giving the viewers a chance to use their brains.

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I hope they understand the infrastructure that is older than our grandparents, yet still in play. I wanted people to see that even though they are being compensated, their treatment is still relatively the same.

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
I've gained better confidence for explaining the struggles of my people as we've struggled to maintain relevance in this world. I've also gained a sense of understanding; no matter how hard Blacks try in this country, we will never be considered equal.

Q#4 Benchmark

Posted by Jalen Smith in Storytelling - Rami - C on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:52 pm

  • What did you set out to do?
For this english benchmark my goal was to craft a reflective piece on my experience with facing challenges in my life and how that related to me becoming a diplomat in society. From my experiences I've also tied this with me going to college and how I expect my college experience to prepare me to become a better leader in the future.

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
While writing my passage I've decided to describe all of my experiences in depth. Usually in story telling authors always describe their stories in depth and also include imagery, which I have decided to include.

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
I would really like the audience to take my personal experiences with facing challenges and incorporate them into their own lives. I don't want them to take exactly the same scenarios however, I would like for them to generate there own ideas based on my scenarios that I have given them and use it for their own lives.

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
I've gained better confidence for explaining my struggles and my plans for improving my future. I feel better explaining my situation and I also feel confident that my story would help to improve other people's views on how they deal with their own problems.
