Keith Moody's Q4 BM Difference between then and now

Posted by Keith Moody in Storytelling - Rami - C on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:54 pm

  • What did you set out to do?
  • I set out to do multiple interviews then pick out 2 of them in which explained, the questions that I was asking in detail. These residents were giving their personal insight on what used to be. I also set out to find a couple of residents that were mainly born in the 20's and 30's so that we can see the history.

  • How does your work incorporate the art of storytelling?
  • They tell their own stories through the interview. There are many people who would love to get their stories out and these residents were happy to do so.

  • What do you hope your audience gains from your work?
  • I hope the audience gains a sense of feeling to the old days of life and be able to compare to theres. Even though things were cheaper life was a lot harder.

  • What did you gain from doing this work.
  • Gained a sense of confidence which allowed me to help guide the residents through a series of questions.

Keith Moody's Capstone

Abstract

Throughout the year many students need school supplies, there are many times in school where the person does not have a proper writing utensil or something to write on. With this project I was able to help students come prepared for the next class. I thought to myself, well why stop there. So I began fundraising to help finish off the payments of Liverpool. Liverpool was an wonderful experience for  a lot of people, I am glad to now be a part of it by putting money towards. After making prices and having a set profit, I began selling the items that were most used throughout our school.

These are the items that were picked out from staples.

Successful Telemarketing

Stone, B., & Wyman, J. (1992). Successful Telemarketing. Lincolnwood, Ill., USA: NTC Business Books.

The source explains successful telemarketing and how to be successful with selling things. Also shows how to sell things. In the book it has many different way that a person could make over 90% of profit by using a technique. For telemarketing the idea of producing a substantial amount of money iso need because it insures the most valuable profit for what the person is marketing.

Staples

"Staples." Staples. Staples, ic. Web. 31 Jan 2014. <http://www.staples.com>.

Staples offer school supplies that are discounted. These supplies could be used to at low prices. There are a variety of different items and materials that students use to help them achieve in school. The more supplies that are discounted, the more supplies are able to be bought at once. Staples normally sell items more than one at a time because multiple items are on sale.

Effective Fundraising for nonprofits

Bray, I. M. (2005). Effective Fundraising for Nonprofits : Real-world Strategies That Work. Berkeley, CA: NOLO.

This tells people how to effectively fundraise. Fundraising is normally to help other organizations and not oneself this is because Fundraising is a non- profit organization. It talks about bringing in new supporters and how to keep givers giving.

Book Keeping

"Bookkeeping for beginners." Bookkeeping for Beginners. N.p., 25 May 2011. Web. 31 Jan 2014. <http://www.bookkeepingforbeginners.com/>.

This website shows how to keep note of financial transactions. This also to help with financial growth and other transaction regardless of materials. This is not only business that this takes into, you can keep track of how much of something you have.

Educational Supplies stores

"CBS." Philadelphia.cbslocal. CBS Philly, 21 Sept 2010. Web. 31 Jan 2014. <http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/guide/best-educational-supply-stores-in-philadelphia/>.

This gives an idea on what to sell inside of a store a a school. Although the things at this store, most likely I will not be seling. I am only selling school supplies.

I don't usualy take selfies, because I don't like pictures. I do not know why I don't like pictures just don't. When people attempt to take photos of me I tend to hide my face, unless it's a special occasion then I feel that it's okay. Other than that I don't care for pictures

Hamlet Close Reading

Posted by Keith Moody in English 3 - Rami on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 8:50 pm

There are many ways this could be analyzed. In the beginning It is being stated as if he is waiting on a decision. There is a lot to be waiting for by allowing time to go past means that time is being wasted. The more he focuses on what the Objective which means that he is able to conquer more than he would have. He knows for a fact that he is not going crazy he is being sure that all is for the right and the more he does wrong the longer it will take for such a job to be done. He believes that he may not being making sense in his own mind. In order to test that theory he must talk to him self which may seem worst but it seems that by doing it that way he gets what he has to say out and un noticed so it won’t draw to much attention to himself. That is the last thing he wants to do at the moment

Further on in the scene he explains that it is reserved for a quantity of choice, this means that it is up to him either he will follow through with the plan and succeed or he will not. When that much pressure is put on someone it makes them feel a totally different way so that they will ensure that all the fear is shook out of them. Attempting not to have time so that he can continue his long talk to his self before the big finally. The reason why I am calling it a finally is because there are more to the situation then we may think. In order for it to be a finally it means that this could actually be the end, so when you count your footsteps and wait for the perfect you know that the chance of you actually messing up are little to none.

He mentions that the devil is what may be holding him back or what could possibly be interfering with all he has to do. He does not want to believe what has been done to his father but time has quickly caught up and he know the time is near that there must not be anymore things that stand in his way but it seems that he is going numb from all this dram he says “Eyes without feeling, feeling without sight”. To me he is stating that he has no sense of direction he has no where to go with this all he knows is what he has to do to avenge. As we all still know he has to wait for the perfect time.

He is now trying to make sure that he toughens and realize that this is reality everything that he does from now on matters, and counts. There will be no sadness only justice to prove something. He still cannot believe what he has seen but he know after the lies and the wrongfulness that this may be the only wait out the situation that he is in. No one want to be stuck with a conscious in your head nagging you to do something definitely not if a ghost told you. When someone asks why you did what do you say do you say a ghost did it or do you hold it to your own state of mind and say you had a feeling. You were sure 100% by a feeling that he has killed your father and if thou may be wrong it may not end well. Who know if this is true but of course there is only one way to find out.

Reflection Push/Pull

 Reflection

With your blogpost, include your reflection related to:

  • What surprised you most about this information?

I was surprised that the historical events that happened cause immigrants to either come here or go away.

  •  What seemed quite obvious about explaining this data
  • set?

That there were going to be a lot of pull's because people explain America as a place of Freedom and Diversity, saying it would allow more jobs and stuff.

  • Looking at the overall trend and incorporating what you know about the US presently, predict and defend the immigration trend for the next two decades.

I think that because of the economic tax cuts that would bring them close but at the same time prices rise so the I believe that it would stay at a steady rate until a new president is picked.

  • Describe how you made a decision on how to visually represent the information.

We chose to use the timeline feature and a keynote feature.

  • What parts of group work were challenging?

There were not that many challenging parts except uploading our information online.

  • What would you do differently if you had this project to do over?

I would just get more research on my push and pull's

Humanities Portfolio 2012

Posted by Keith Moody in English 2 - Block on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 12:30 pm

At the beginning of this year I was given an idea about a descriptive essay. In order to be descriptive you have to study the object or scene and say each part using the five senses. This year in general has been a great experience it helped me figure out that everything is not handed to you. You have to earn what you can’t have. In order to be accomplished in life you must work. My teacher Mr. Block is both my english and history and he helped me understand a lot about both courses.

Throughout the entire year my work has been hard to understand. I wasn’t able to comprehend the new information that I was learning. So through the months I used deeper analysis. This analysis allowed me to  help understand things that we never thought were possible. Later in the year we learned about the renaissance, we has to discuss renaissance art and one statement I remember is, "Art existed just not on paper". This quote shows that If you think about art, art is something you can explain deeper than you thought you could. Even though a person could name colors or what’s on it, you can say how the person feels you can relate the picture to something in real life. An assignment that also stood out was Lord of the Flies. Leadership had a lot to do with the book. “A leader can only be one person but you need people to help you further”. Basically this quote shows what a leader is. A leader can not be multiple people. There could be different Leader(s) with an s. The reason why I say that there can only be one leader is because it does not consist of more than one person. The other people that you may feel is in power could be assistants but not at the same rank as the LEADER.

A lot of my work has been expressing how I feel. In order to express how you feel you need to know what you feel and telling that is  a challenge. Expression is used to show how a person feels without saying it. It’s like reading the mind but this time you read the body. This means expressing yourself without words could be stronger than expressing yourself with words. I wrote a letter to my parents about how I felt at times. "Certain things you say to me hurt my feelings throughout the day". This was to show i felt, but this was stated in words when I could have showed it. Certain are not meant to be shown because it makes situations worse. Anytime you express your self make sure it is meaningful so it makes a change. Back when my class did the French Revolution Role Play we began to thing people were cruel and that they showed respect for the cruelty. “he showed honor”. Honor, the way honor is expressed it to be bold out going showing your boss that you could do what no other man/ woman could ever do. To show honor means that you give respect not to earn but because you honor that person. it is possible that you look up to that person. The more honorable things you do the more respect it given.

Screen Shot 2012-06-04 at 10.34.34 AM

Mr. Block taught me a new way to write and speak and I think the effort that I put into the work really helped me. The only thing I had to do was try. Trying new things allows the person to feel accomplished after doing what they thought they couldn’t. In the beginning of the year we did some trial work like a court case and I quote that I have picked up from it is "But we would have also been imprisoned". Speaking on this quote, this could have been a new thing tried. Not everything your friends do is something that you have to do. It could get you in some trouble that you are able to get yourself out of. Back in 2011 Mr.Block gave us  a paper to do and it was the Language Auto Biography. I knew this was new to me because I actually got to discuss where my mom is from and how she speaks. “you feel the rhythm in the words coming out of your mouth”. This quote shows that you notice new things to. If you have never written about a different accent or dialect try it because it makes you want to speak in a way that everyone could understand. The only way to do that is to feel that rhythm in the words that are coming out of your mouth. Then you have to remember that rhythm.

Language Auto Biography

Posted by Keith Moody in English 2 - Block on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 12:10 pm
Reflection and Introduction

Through this paper it expressed my family and me. Basically the more I read this paper I see what really happens in my life. I never really noticed it but I think I do now. When I go home I see more and more of family and the way I talk. I no longer correct them because that's just them. I wouldn't want anyone correcting me on something I said correctly. Well in my opinion it's only wrong if it's spelled wrong. You can't say it wrong you can only spell it wrong. This means that if you see a word and you say it, you didn't say it wrong you spelled it wrong. In your head it looks differently. My strong points were the dialog it really brought out my moms voice. I though I did bad on research and information.

Language Auto Biography

- Home language

“snip snip” the sounds of the lips going back and forth, Spacing between each curve in a way that cannot be defi ned. Imaginary it must be, not being able to understand the new language she has brought in this house. “You don’t want ta listen to me you know.” Foreign, it must be; this isn’t English. What is this? Training as the time goes on, the peers get used to it and try to learn it. They understand what I am saying . “I am tinkin about movin.” The strange talker says. As the speaker continues, we learn to understand the dialect. Morning rises, only the kin are around the change in the dialect changes. Code switch it ay be called but how. How can you change what you sound like in an instant like a whole new person. I wonder how that happens to a person. Now I feel different wondering about this situation. Lingering the words slur as they are still correct. One chance to change ones dialect and it happened. Tick tock fortifying with greatness. You now know the difference between languages. Ding dong “hello”. Conversing back in forth they are. Once again the dialect changes I don’t understand the fast speaking the horrid.

No holding back the foul language coming out my mouth, talking as if I don’t know English. Friend laughing and joking around waiting for a joke with that French word of justice. When around my family the French word is obsolete. As if the word never existed the loud talking the distant hearing of the parents. Walking outside getting my code switch started. A friend comes up and now it’s on the code switch is in. Finally I’m free. Don’t under stand why It’s like this but it is. Can I change it I don’t know. Depending on how I feel during the moment, sometimes.

Throughout all the times a friend speaks to you do you ever wonder if they always speak that way. Maybe they just speak to you that way.

In school i always try to make up lines that would make people laugh. My most recent line was “chew the gat” although many people don't know what it means that's a good thing. If they did I wouldn’t be here. Sometimes people laugh sometimes they don’t. When I’m around other people tat line doesn’t come up in my vocabulary. I try not to just randomly say it.

My friend in school says some pretty wierd stuff, he says ”what are youuuu talking about” then he like repeats it in different ways. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t say that around his parents.

I actually like code switching how you feel the rhythm in the words coming out of your mouth. You feel you coming out. You can feel your mind spinning as if you never heard anything before it feels so new. When you talk to your guardian most of the time your actually talking to them in a way that won’t get mad at you. Hopefully that gazing eye upon that word which cannot be named because it has not been thought of. That word your gazing looking upon finally opens up depending on you your around with.

The more time you spend thinking about that word it’s hard to decide weather to use it or not. It’s basically an unsolved mystery until you have to say the word.

Conversations come differently. When you converse with someone they feel as if that you, they feel that is how you speak. People tend to speak proper at placed they feel are proper. Like Balls, business offices etc. I actually like code switch because it show me how many of “MY” languages I actually know. People don;t know my language only because they don’t code switch the way I do.

Sometimes my mom doesn’t even realise she says “tinkin”. When I do bad on my report card and I’m always on my laptop. She says that I’m not “tinkin” that I’m not tryin. To her family it’s a lot different  when they tinkin and then at the end of the sentence it “you know”. That’s their way of speaking and I can;t change that I also like the way they speak because in a way that shows my mom has a language that is English.

Dialect brings an important factor into this. Not all the time a person speaks with an accent. Even though they know the accent and It’s heavy, they also try to “lightin” it in front of other people just for them to hear.

Keystone XL Pipeline

Posted by Keith Moody in World History - Block on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 12:43 pm

I'm sweating so badly, I have never sweat like this before. I’m so scared....I have this big interview coming up in a few minutes its weird. I wonder if I could just leave and do this tomorrow because I don’t think it’s going to happen today. I don’t think that it is possible to just go out there without fear. Like I don’t know if I can deal with the fact that I’m singled out on that stage in front of a billion people. What am I doing talking to myself pacing back and forth? I feel like I can’t do this. I’m leaving. I have to leave now I’m starting to feel sick. No I can’t go back, I have to go out there and face my fear. I have an oil company to defend and I need to defend it today. I need to stand in front of those environmentalists. I am not going to look like a fool, I’m going to march in that room and everyone will know what I am talking about. There is nothing standing in my way of being a boss doing my job. No one can take that from me because I am me. Ok so in there I go. Oh my gosh who am I kidding I don’t have the guts to go and there I didn’t even prepare my questions and answers so I would know what to say just in case they ask me that question and then I would feel lost .

Like who doesn’t know about the pipeline are they insane. Even though it causes a lot of economic problems. It’s also the reason why you guys are here today in the building full of electricity made from the oil that we are pumping through. From Canada to the U.S we are not using those solar solar panels we are using easy transportation. That oil makes Jobs an with those jobs, the environmentalist good get a job cleaning up the environment. Instead of getting arrested.

Hello ladies and gentleman, we now must welcome the oil company representative for the day. He will speaking kin favor for the oil company. Now for you economical people we would like to please silence your booing or anything to make this man not speak. We want him not to be nervous as possible. We don’t want to mess up his beginning speech now before the interview. Ok guys we have some bags to give out some for Eco and some for Oil Company we have them all everyone should get one. It doesn’t matter what you take just make sure you allow the man to speak on his behalf of that company. Now ladies and gentleman we have some problems back stage with him, he’s a little nervous. Our crew is trying to get him out that room now. Ok guys we might have to do this tomorrow because it doesn’t look like we can do this today I’m sorry for bringing you guys out here to see something that might not happen. I am so sorry guys I’ll be back. Damn it why would he just chicken out like that what was he thinking. He’s supposed to be a good representative for what he believes in now he’s gone. All because he can’t handle actually speaking in public or something so stupid. Arrghh. I am so mad at him like WTF. You know what I’m going to go out there and tell the people to come back another time unless he come back. At this moment he won’t be coming back.

                                                    Descriptive Essay

Do people just write to write, does that make that person a writer. How can you just wright something random like this paper. If people just wrote because they felt like it would everyone get published or would only certain people get published. I believe that to be a writer your story has to be a person not just a story. Which means that your story must have human characteristics. when you give a story those characteristics it allows it to connect to people. The writer must make his/her story have emotion, rules, looks. Anything that will connect with the reader bind with the reader. The reason why I say this is because a story without feelings is a story with no problem. Most stories have a problem even though you can’t see it it’s there because in every ones mind they think differently. What a person sees as a problem is what a person sees.

I wonder can I be a writer can I really?. I think not. The reason for that is because I don’t have emotion and good grammar in my writing and that's one of the key points in books that are published. To just publish a book must feel wonderful so everyone gets joy and every connects.

On the surface there is a bunch of leaves, tree leaves. There is a car above those leaves, red car. It's like a Lamborghini. In the background area there are two trees. That tress is very bushy so it covers most of the background area. The car is like an inch away from both sides of the picture. It's outdoors of course. The front of the car is flat. The leaves are small and mostly brown. The light beaming down on the car coming from the bright and powerful sunlight, striking once again to prove that no other light can be brighter. The oval shapes of these leave made the surrounding feel a lot different then it used to. Where did that car come from? It’s just there out in the wilderness all by itself taking up all the tropical breezes and rain, but still no damage done as if the car cant be touched. It’s rare not something you see everyday a stranded car not need for rescue, but what if the car need that rescue no one would care. When you see a car you knew that 3 ton metal on wheels. People always expect a person to be there. Not today there isn’t there is just a car.

One day I got a present it was very important to me. Red ropes and Black ropes they all were there. That ring they fight the one where all the dirty mess happened hand to hand combat, foot to foot combat. It’s weird how you can lose one of those ropes in just a blink of an eye. It was there i tell you it was there i remember it and up to this day I wonder where it went. I cant believe I lost that rope now all i have a hard mattress for those sweaty men to wrestle on. I looked for that rope forever I couldn’t find it, but i wonder where that rope would've gone. The picture of that ring was not complete without that rope it didn’t make sense to have that piece missing. With all the digging and searching I’ve done for that rope. Boxes and boxes i went through looking. When you can’t find that missing piece the set fells empty the present feels empty.

Did you ever get a present for Christmas? Then it broke that day, how did you feel. Let me tell you about my gift. Wrapped in red and green paper so fragile. First the tape then the wrapper off it went flying. into the air floating to the ground. A bright light shined out of the box. I dug my hands in there and took out that bright light. The light dimmed down and I saw it my present 4 wings custom paint it was there. I wondered what did I do to deserve that gift. I also didn’t want to argue with it. a box with an antenna was used to control as it hovered into the area. Of course I didn’t know how to use it so it hit the that hard floor above you. SMACK. My mouth dropped just like my gift in my eyes it fell so slow like a movie when they make a dramatic scene. SWOOSH and that was it. I tried to fix it, tape I thought to fix those four beautiful wings. Once i was finished I felt success. An eager smile went across my face.

First the tape then the wrapper off it went flying, into the air floating to the ground. Of course I didn’t know how to use it so it hit the hard floor above you. SMACK. My mouth dropped just like my gift in my eyes it fell so slow like a movie when they make a dramatic scene. SWOOSH and that was it. I tried to fix it, tape I thought to fix those four beautiful wings. Once I was finished I felt success. An eager smile went across my face.

Something Interesting: This was man made.

When I read about my element radioactivity came to my head so I tried to make my design radioactive.
The steps I took was to make a earth with a satellite that gives off a signal with waves.
I really like my project I think my picture looks cool and the information about this element is interesting.
I would just make a better picture or choose a different element.

Rehab After Drugs and Alcohol [ The Longterm Save] pt. 3

Posted by Keith Moody on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 1:32 pm
After more of my research I still see that more kids each day are starting to do drugs and drink at a young age. By a young age I mean 10 and up. I don't really know why these kids do this. After researching that, I found out that most kids do this for publicity and self esteem. I also found out that children who use or drugs and alcohol is to feel old. To be older than they actually are.

I do know someone who smokes and drinks to be cool his name is Nasir he is only 10 years old he has 2 older brothers and 2 older sister they live right next door to me. He smokes and drinks because his brothers do it. He tells them that if he doesn't smoke or drink with them he will tell their mom. The 2 older brothers are also young one is 12 the other 15. Now people come around asking to buy off of them and smoke with them. In reality they are using his money they no he want buy the drugs or alcohol because they are friends. So he buys and buys, smoke and drink. It is sad to see people at a young age do these things.

I have tried talking to them but they don't listen. I don't get why they don't listen. It is for their own health, but the more their friends come around the more they buy.

I hope all of this stops not just with them but in general drug and alcohol, abuse messes up people minds and action. It makes them look different as a person and kills people including themselves.

NO DRUGS
NO ALCOHOL

Rehab After Drugs and Alcohol [ The Longterm Save] pt. 2

Ok so after my research I found out that people that smoke first hand are less likely to [pass] also people that get second hand smoke seem to pass on average more than the person that is smoking. I also researched alcohol, after drunk there are many liquids inside you head filled with alcohol, I've watched videos of people who had rehab after a car accident while drinking. When the person went to the hospital they had alcohol in their head. It was very scary :(.

Rehab After Drugs and Alcohol [ The Longterm Save]

·      This section is basically about people who survive the addiction of drugs and alcohol, People

·      To be addicted it means to be controlled by something, something that pulls you in and doesn't let go.

·      Also being addicted allows the person to have mood swings and changes without that substance. Normally a regular person gets a high from a thrill. Now people get there high from drugs, these drugs tell the person/ make the person feel like they can't live without it. As if that drug is there high. Once a person gets there high from drugs and can't be happy without it they are now addicted. As weird as this may seem the person now believe that, that drug is their happiness and most people love their happiness.

·      When you are addicted to alcohol you become an alcoholic. The reson why this is bad because it allows the alcohol to seek it’s way into the brain and can cause serious head drama. With this you may lose memory/ thought of what’s going on.

Keith Moody Orange Negative Space

Posted by Keith Moody in Art - 9 - Hull on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 8:08 am

A. Negative Space is the space behind the object. By that I mean if you are drawing an object inside a room the space behind that object is negative space.

B. In my drawing: In my cut out the way I found the negative space was by making the opposite side of the actual drawing. So opposite and opposite equals the whole drawing. I know this is hard to comprehend but thats how I did it.

In my stool drawing: In my drawing I found the negative space behind the object. This is including the holes and spaces through the object that does't count as the object itself.

C. To know the surroundings and how to fill space in that is not included in the object, that you are drawing.

D. Yes It makes the person focus on that actual drawing.

Moody Hull Art

Our whole project was to be able to draw from a certain perspective, the project was also to draw from a vanishing point. With the boxes we drew from the center of the box/paper which is the vanishing point.

The process of this project was to use exact measurements with the ruler to show that you are using more than artistic skill to draw. This process was to actually use the real items in the room and draw them.

From this project I learned how to draw and how to draw what I actually see. Not just to draw from my head. Now It's clear that I can draw what I see and put as much detail into my art work. I believe drawing from a certain perspective using a vanishing point really helps me.

One of the hardest things to learn was the measurements and detail. To draw everything you see from your perspective is hard. To draw using a ruler not only for a straight edge but to measure was hard.

Comments:

The reason why I picked your project is because you show great artistic skill; I really like the fact that you drew from the vanishing point. I also like how you put detail in the picture. When I looked at your photo then looked around the room, every detail was there, the bike, curtains, tables, and paint desk with sink. It was really good. Nice detail, followed direction by drawing from the vanishing point and had good measurements of where to put the items around the room into your drawing.
