That’s exactly how I imagine people listening to my final project - walking through my neighborhood, each house and episode holding a new story. I’ve learned a lot through this year in both technical aspects (editing audio, sharing podcasts, recording) and in storytelling (asking questions, casual interviewing, forming a narrative) but the lessons from my interviewees have been by far the most meaningful. I truly believe that each and every listener can benefit from what my neighborhood has to share. My short series covers ordinary people of my community but their lives and life advice are truly extraordinary. Each episode examines everything from The American Dream to the LGBTQ+ film industry and the monumental life lessons we can learn from it all. I’m Kate Kopf. Welcome to my Stomping Ground.

Advanced Essay #4: Seventeen
Introduction:
For me this essay was a chance to explore street harassment, learn more about it, and address it through a different lens. I've always found dress coding interesting and after reading more about street harassment, I saw similarities in the way students acted and how punishment worked. I wanted to use this essay to draw parallels and bring to light something that I don't think is addressed enough. I definitely learned a lot myself and was shocked by some of the statistics I saw. I really hope that this essay shows people who don't know much how societal sexism can affect young bodies and be very detrimental as a woman grows up in this environment. Overall, I think this essay turned out well. I had a few bumps in the road trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and trying to smooth out kinks in the essay, but fairly smooth overall.
Essay:
Seventeen. The age at which a majority of women have experienced some form of street harassment (stopstreetharassment.org). The age at which women learned to walk faster when they see a group of men. The age where they learned to always pack pepper spray. The age where they learned to always have 911 on call before they stepped outside. At 17 girls learn that their bodies are for your viewing pleasure and they hear from those very same men that the advances were their fault or to not take it so harshly or to just chill out or to enjoy it, adding one more pane to the glass ceiling that prevents gender equality.
This glass ceiling, built from panes of lewd comments, lusty stares, dumb blonde jokes, and condescension comes included in the box set women are given at birth. Even before 17 girls learn to be pretty, fragile, and quiet, their minds suppressed in favor of highlighting their bodies. Even rules like dress codes, designed to protect them and their peers, are biased against them. Dress codes are the precursor to street harassment, the demo version before you unlock the real thing. In a similar way to street harassment, girls are taught that their outfits invite sexualization. They’re taught that their short shorts or cut tops are permission for their bodies and minds to be reduced to a distraction. Even worse, when a girl is dress coded for showing bra straps or wearing short shorts, she’s taught that enjoying her body in the way she chooses is inappropriate. Improper dress coding like this tells boys they don’t have to control themselves or stop from sexualizing women's bodies and tells women they are the one who have to change to prevent this sexualization. Dress codes fortify the already sexist environment women are growing up in and make catcalling seem ok and even natural for men to do.
As they grow, it only worsens and intensifies. Hair pulling and name calling in school upgrades to groping and wolf whistles. Yet, despite the violence worsening, it’s still not addressed seriously. Senator Malcolm Roberts corroborated this in his interview with ABC Radio, stating, “Some girls think that that is wonderful, they, you know, they smile…Is a wolf-whistle harassment? It depends upon the person…” Maybe it does depend on the person, but if the person you’re asking is one of the millions who have been violated at any point in their life, I’m sure their opinion would differ. Men effortlessly devalue street harassment as compliments or small infractions, only acknowledging it if it becomes physical. “Unless it turns physical or violent, the guy was “just giving you a compliment”, so it kind of becomes your fault for not being chill about it,” say Barine Barud, a Mexican woman and frequent victim of street harassment. Comments like that or people who say women are asking for it, are a born from improper dress codes. As women are taught certain attire is sexual and distracting, men learn that when women choose to wear that they’re asking to be catcalled or ‘complemented’.
The victims of dress coding as young girls and street harassment as young women are the victim of a larger overarching issue: societal sexism. It’s a systemic issue, present in a system built and filled with men. Men effortlessly devalue street harassment, dress codes, and the glass ceiling itself, jumping from excuse to excuse, anything but actually addressing the issue. As a result of that, not much has progressed systemically, so in order for us to truly move forward we need take a new approach. In order to progress we need to destroy the roots, burn down the tree that that grows into societal sexism until nothing is left but the ashes of what was. At 17 most women have experienced street harassment, but every year before that girls and boys are reinforced with the ideas that build up to street harassment. If we really want to fix societal sexism, the answer isn’t attempting to fix the wage gap right now or telling fifty year old men not to be discriminatory to women, it’s building up boys and girls as powerful equals.
Hopefully some day soon 17 will be defined by women scientists, educators, and artists, not victims.

How We Get By: Life Lessons From a Grief Counselor
Introduction:
I interviewed my neighbor, Heath Williams, a grief counselor to learn more about her workplace and her world. Through the interview, I learned about her childhood and how she came into the job. I learned about how she connects with her clients and the amazing times she's had. However, she also disclosed the difficulties of counseling and toll it can take on her physically and mentally. Through her experiences, Heath has learned a lot about death and life, through her, we can do the same.
Reflection:
Throughout the process, It was hard to narrow my focus. I wasn't sure who I wanted ot interview or what about. Even after I chose Heath, I wasn't sure what I wanted to learn or what my larger idea was. It turned out, that was the best thing. It allowed me to learn from what I had and build on that instead of trying to force preconceived notions onto the interview. After listening through and spending a long time editing and refining I feel like I learned about podcasts, myself, and life.
Advanced Essay #3: The Paper World Of Social Media
Intro:
With this essay I really wanted to address how social media affect us both online and in the real world. Social media has a lot of benefits, but it also has a lot of detrimental effects to our personality. I think a lot of the time when people write about social media they focus on similar issues and I attack some of those, but I also bring some new arguments to the table. I think that social media and technology has become much more present in everyday life and the real world which has increased its affect on us as a whole. Social media has really changed how we define and build ourselves and that's something we need to acknowledge and address.
Essay:
As a kid, I built people from numbers. From lists and characteristics that I believed would somehow craft a real person to bring life to my stories. I thought that knowing how a character took their coffee or what their favorite movie was would build me a real personality. Looking back on that, I almost laugh. Laugh at how short I fell from creating a real person. What I was scratching out with my ballpoint pen was a lifeless replication of the intricacies of humanity, a paper person that couldn’t even begin to comprehend the complexities of reality. Yet, what I laughed at is now an ever present and inescapable factor of our online world. Social media and the increased availability of brisk online communication have caused us to relinquish our authenticity and embrace the distortion of our personalities.
We see social media as an advancement of culture and connection, but we ignore the effect it has on our personalities. We ignore the fact that so many users signed away their personality when they signed off on the swear of conformity hidden deep in terms and conditions. On social media, the mass of users have created an unspoken rulebook filled with expectations for every profile (Heitner). This hidden rulebook begins people’s journey towards the conformity and is the start of them adjusting themselves for the online community. Users start with tiny adjustments that they believe are impermanent and unimportant changes to fit in, but as time goes on and expectations grow, they change more extremely to continually receive that popular reception.
Users get sucked into the popularity contest because of how incredibly evident it is online. Every second you’re on the program you see likes, follows, retweets and it begins to have this immense power over users, rather than prioritizing fun and community. Once people can see what gets the most attention, they begin to pursue those posts, activities, and events. They begin act not for themselves or their entertainment, but to get a leg up in a immaterial world. They calculate every part of their day and each post to ensure it adds exactly the right detail to their image. Elisabeth Camp argues that “Who [you are] is given by the story [you] tell” emphasizing how much power we have to alter and “better” ourselves online by being able to control what we story we tell and what character we allow people to see (Camp). Every time you scroll through someone’s feed, all that you see is the carefully curated characteristics and picturesque personality they want you to glimpse. It becomes a game to see who can become the most produced, but appear the most authentic.
Social media embraces this suppression and illusion, and because of that it hurts their users as they fall prey to the game. They begin to lose their personality and integrity online, but eventually even in real life too because of the advanced tech of our phones. Our phones have become an ever present part of our life and they affect our personality immensely, illustrated by Sherry Turkle, “Our phones are not accessories, but psychologically potent devices that change not just what we do but who we are” (Turkle). As users check and log onto their phones constantly through the day, they begin to unconsciously bring their pattern of facades and lies with them even after they log off or shut their phones. They do this unconsciously, but also consciously as they see the success of their lies and begin to crave the success and false happiness they found online. Because of the positive reception and the increased time spent online today, as users wipe parts of their personalities away online, they can eventually reach a point where it’s nearly impossible to return to or ever retrieve themselves. What they were becomes a distant memory soaring away as they immerse themselves more and more into the binary of the digital world.
All of these factors between the hidden rule book, the popularity contest, and constant conformity create the very same paper people that I myself used to build. Users log on one day, then another, and then every day. Each time losing a small part of themselves until they are fully paper and it’s impossible to return to who they were before. Digital literacy today is more than understanding the internet, but understanding who you are and how not to lose that. Digital literacy is about acknowledging both the strengths and the weaknesses of our’s and the digital world. We are not a world of paper people, we’re an incredibly complex world of diversity, disagreement, and depth and there is no follow, like, or retweet that should convince us to leave that behind.

Advanced Essay #2 [The Expiration Date of Our Education]
Introduction:
When I began writing this essay, I had no idea what I was doing. I had no idea where it was going, just that it had to do with film. Yet, as I began writing, I realized that it all lead back to SLA. SLA was what allowed me to discover and explore my interest in film, vastly changing my world. Even more, SLA has allowed me so many opportunities that I never would have even tried before now. The reason our school is so special is because it embraces all kinds of literacies and talents. As I registered how special SLA was, it made me disappointed in our other schools. Why couldn't our education system follow this model? My essay is all about the issues with our current education system and how inquiry and curiosity needs to be embraced in order for students to thrive in schools.
Essay:
INT. NIGHT - FELIX’S HOUSE
His feet pounded down onto the bloodstained floor, his stomps ricocheting around the desolate hallway. All around him lights flared and sirens shrieked endlessly, a visual symphony to accompany his impending doom. Shadows encapsulated every part of the room, yet his eyes still darted around, attempting to find any sign of the incoming danger. He sprinted into the confined box of the elevator, the walls around him hugging him close as if to say he would be safe here. He slammed his hands against the flickering buttons, drops of blood sliding down the metal as he punched it again and again. Seconds passed, each one ticking by ever so slowly, battling his increasingly fast heartbeat. The once welcoming walls began to close in on him, tightening around him and offering no escape. Suddenly, the beast-
Felix paused the show and suddenly make-believe was over. “Do you guys see the coloration? The greens and the yellows perfectly emulate the Upside-Down later.”
"Yeah, and you know the Dungeons and Dragons scene? That’s like perfect foreshadowing for what happens to Will,” I replied. I couldn’t help but grin as we discussed the show. Even the subtle details like coloring and lighting took on a whole new meaning now that I knew what went into making a movie. Even better, for the first time, I felt like I could actually contribute to the conversation, be a valuable addition to our film analysis.
“Let’s keep watching,” said Felix. “I want to keep analyzing it though, pausing whenever we want.” He pressed his finger on the remote and suddenly we were launched back into a land of fantasy, mystery, and the Upside-Down.
Cut to Black.
Watching Stranger Things for the second time in my friend’s basement would seem like a nondescript memory. Yet, to me, it meant everything. As our discussion continued throughout the whole night, I realized how much I relished these discussions. I admired everything the show was doing, but even more so, I wanted to be the one behind the camera. This seemingly bland Friday night made me finally realize my passion for cinema itself and the learning and analysis that went with it. It felt like, after two years of filming and editing, everything clicked into place. This was what I was meant to do.
After that, everything in my life lead back to movies, my love for it only growing as I continued my digital video class. There, at SLA, I felt like I had more than just a school, I had a support group. A collection of people who I knew I could count on to help me succeed and learn. Before I went to SLA, the idea of staying at school any longer than required was something I had never considered. Yet, by the end of my sophomore year, you couldn’t find me anywhere else but the editing room, typing away at a computer until I was kicked out of school. No class had ever made me want to stay at school until the last possible minute. No subject had ever developed a curiosity in me that burned for years. Without SLA’s encouragement of inquiry and exploration, I would have never been where I am today.
So many schools don’t understand students or the importance of a free environment like SLA does. With the style of learning that is widely used today, we force one kind of literacy onto students. We decide for our students what should and should not be valued. We decide that a boy who is literate in music is less important than someone who is literate in math. Our education system attempts to squash literacies that lean against their ideals. Sherman Alexie's’ Superman and Me addresses this very issue in Indian schools: “They struggled with basic reading in school but could remember how to sing a few dozen powwow songs. They were monosyllabic in front of their non-Indian teachers but could tell complicated stories and jokes at the dinner table.” Alexie shows how the Indian children prosper in the environments that support them. Where their family and friends are, they can recite song and story, yet where they’re individual literacies and talents are rejected, they fail. These systemic issues create one set form of literacy and learning, where those who do not succeed are ostracized. Our schools allow tiny inked letters based on tests ignorant of your history to determine your future.
I recognize these issues as both an insider and outsider. As a white student from a good neighborhood, I have never had to go to a school where I was expected to be stupid. As a straight-A student and decent test taker, I have never had to spend hours studying just to end up getting a C. Yet, as a student and a teenager, I have seen mine and others’ education slaughtered by a lack of funds and lack of thought. I have seen my best friend get an F on a test and turn it into a mural on the very same page. I have seen all of these things, but I haven’t seen change. Our learning and our literacy both stem from inquiry and questioning, yet our schools reject it. Learning is driven by the passion and inquisitiveness behind it, where students are persistently and restlessly fighting for answers. It’s only through inquiry and expression in schools, that we find ourselves and our passions and we discover the world.
Advanced Essay - Kopf
I’ve had the same best friend since I was two years old. From diapers to directing films in high school, we’ve grown up and changed together. Ever since I was scrawny toddler dressed in my mismatched clothes, I’ve had him beside me influencing and affecting who I grew up to be. He and I had been thrown together as kids, an unassuming pair as a result of our parent’s friendships and out of pure luck, we happened to click. Evidence of our fourteen years of friendship hanging half-haphazardly from tacks shoved into my walls years ago. Each print, a mix of pixels and colors displaying various moments from our childhood.
When I look through each picture of us looking embarrassingly idiotic I can’t help but picture the nights spent together as kids. The two of us sitting there, huddled together and murmuring to each other, our voices the only sound resonating in the miniscule room. The pitch black space erupting in white light as our chubby fingers flick the two flashlights on. The bright light suddenly illuminating our scraped-up faces. We would recount ghost stories, read comic books, imagine we were the rulers of everything in the world. There was no end to what we could do, to what we could imagine inside our fantastical minds. Everything when we were kids seemed so utterly magical, all I had wanted to do was explore it all.
For my six year old self, the most incredible thing I could imagine in real life was the Philadelphia Zoo. Forty-two acres of asphalt, water, and grass filled to the brim with seemingly thousands of animals. We peered out the tinted windows of the rusting car, ignoring all else as we tried to glimpse the enormous zoo before us. Unable to contain our excitement we leaped out of the car before it’s dirt covered wheels had even stopped spinning and the zoo seemed never ending. Pictures of ferocious lions, cuddly koalas, and creepy insects plastered the walls of the zoo. In each direction was a new source of awe and wonder. We howled at the monkeys, roared at the lions, and tried to coax the snakes out from their dens. We scampered around the zoo attempting to emulate the very animals we saw. They sat majestically, only inches of crystallized glass keeping us from our potential playmates.
The zoo was every dream of ours brought to life. A mix of myth and reality that filled our minds to the brim with wonderment. We wanted to be as fast as a cheetah, as strong as a rhinoceros and as tall as a giraffe. Yet, even the marvels of the real world couldn’t compare to our greatest idol: The Amazing Spiderman. There was nothing like him, he was everything we dreamed of being and here was a chance. An opportunity to don the red and blue and become our hero. After 30 minutes of squirming in our chairs and our strongest attempt to ignore the incessant itching as our faces became caked with color, we emerged as two Spidermen. We came out proud and new, under the guise of someone else. The difference between us and Spiderman melting away with each stroke of heavy blue paint. We stood side to side, our pose perfected and our eyes serious. In our minds, we had placed the mask upon our faces and had become super. Then, in a bright flash, it all ended, captured forever in one 8 by 10 print.
For eleven years I’ve kept that print hanging on my wall, accompanied by an addition of crazy and fun memories of the past. Nothing seems to have changed between the two of us. Time didn’t matter between us, we always got back into that same groove. We were like two puzzle pieces, we could always slot back together and get into our old ways. Growing older with him has helped me become a better person and I’d like to believe that I did the same to him. We had never really been cool, more of a pair of awkward outsiders, but we had always stuck it out together and helped each other become the best versions of ourselves.
We spend so much of our life around other people, that it becomes essential that we choose to surround ourselves with the individuals that care about us the most. Your circle affects your personality tremendously, regardless of whether you spend five, ten, or fifty years together. What’s most important isn’t whether you have the most or the coolest friends, it’s whether you have the right friends. The friends who care about you the most. The friends who will be there when you’re a jerk and help you when you’re down. Find your second spiderman, the rhino to your cheetah, your partner in crime. Think about yourself as a puzzle piece waiting for the right partner, if everything’s right, you can come together and create an amazing picture.

ILP 3.31.16
So far I have been enjoying and progressing with my ILP very well. I no longer have to commute to and from places because my ILP is at school which is very nice. So far, we have most of the schedule for the club ironed out, we will start with graphic design in a digital format and then slowly work or way bigger with industrial and then maybe even city planning. All of this will educate and enhance the life experience of the students who join our club. We are also working on how to begin the club, trying to organize the right activity and how to make sure the club feels fun and loose, not like a class and super structured. Another thing we are working on for the ILP is a logo for challenge week and that is also going well. Right now we have three solid ideas and are trying to improve and refine those designs, as well as make sure they show both community service and Philadelphia.

Kopf ILP
I am working with Nat on creating a design club at SLA where people can learn about various fields of design. We are currently trying to set up the structure and content of the club and who we can bring in. We have been talking to other people in the school and in Philadelphia who have experience in design to see if they have suggestions for the club or availability to teach. So far we have been working out the schedule and trying to make sure everything flows smoothly. Recently, we talked to Leo Levi, as senior at SLA, about how he could help teach the club about programs like Illustrator and possibly Photoshop. We have also been planning activities to teach to the students about how to think about the world through a design lens and how design is present throughout our daily life. My homework is to watch the Helvetica documentary and see how we could use it for the club.

Esta niña es una niña muy bella y inteligente, pero también ella es muy complejo. Ella tuve todo en el mundo pero ella no fue feliz. Ella fue una bailarina muy exitoso y muy famosa el año pasado, pero ahora ella es muy triste y pobre. Ella perdió todo y ahora ella tiene nada más que lágrimas. El año pasado ocurrió un accidente y ella estuvo arruinado. Ella ya no pudo bailar y ya no pudo caminar. Ella fue muy cansada y no tuve una idea de qué hacer con su vida.
Después de mucho tiempo, ella recuperó su vida. Ahora, ella es muy contento y tiene un novio y dos niños que son muy feliz. Ella puede caminar ahora, pero ella no puede bailar. Ella va a ser una profesora de baile, así que ella puede enseñar otros niños. Ella es una buena ejemplo para los otros personas con vidas muy difícil. El pasa su tiempo cuidando de los animales y el cree que los animales son las cosas más buena en el mundo.
En los años él aprendió mucho sobre los animales y él trabajó mucho para aprender más. También, él visitó muchos refugios de animales y allí él supo todo lo que necesita hacer. El se llama Pedro y el solo tiene diez años. El es de guatemala, pero vive en Filadelfia con su nueva familia. El es adoptivo, pero conoce bien Filadelfia y es muy contento. El visitó Guatemala el año pasado y tuvo mucho diversión! La visita fue solo una semana, pero el hizo muchos cosas. El fue a muchos lugares maravillosos y tomó muchos fotos buenos. La viaje fue fantástica y el quiere mucho ir a Guatemala una vez más.
El le gusta practicar béisbol para muchas horas así que él puede mejorar más. El juega béisbol para su escuela y el es un buen jugador. Solo que él quiere ser es una jugador de béisbol profesional. Su equipo favorito son los “Philadelphia Phillies” y el ama ir a los juegos. Su héroe es el sorprendente Ryan Howard y él quiere jugar en el equipo una día.

Este es una bella pareja de Filadelfia y ellos aman el uno del otro mucho. Hoy es el aniversario de el primer día que ellos conocieron. Ellos conocieron hace dos añosaños y amaron el uno del otro bastante. Su primera cita fue en un parque bella y ellos comieron frutas y quesos deliciosos. Después de eso, ellos caminaron al cine y vieron una pelicula muy bueno. Finalmente, ellos va a una pista de hielo y tuvieron un buena tiempo. Nathaniel es el niño y él va a especializarse en Artes Visuales y quiere ser un artista. Kopf ILP Update 11/2
So far I have been to two sessions of my ILP and it's really cool. We haven't been doing what I expected, but I'm still learning a lot and really enjotyng myself and my work there. The first session I went, I got lost trying to get there and was 20 minutes late and fairly embarrassed. Then once we got started I felt fairly out my depth, everyone else seemed to know what they were doing and how to operate the power tools a lot better than I did. Yet, after a while I got into a groove and helped hang up a swing and drill holes for the next swing. We were trying to build a playground for this neighborhood in West Philadelphia and I feel like a made a good contribution to building the playground and to the neighborhood.
The next session was far less interesting, but I still had some fun and don't expect the whole year will be like this. The most recent session I went to, all we were doing was packing up and closing down the Department of Making + Doing, obviously this was not nearly as fun as building a playground. We had to pack up all the tools that we got to keep and label all of the boxes that we put them into. It was really cool to see all of the things that students had made at this place, and I wish I could have been here before they had to close the place down. Next week we are starting to move out and bring tools to the SLA campuses. I think that after we finish moving everything out we will move on to cooler and more intellectually challenging things. I'm excited for what is to come.
Kopf ILP Update 10/23
Today is the first official day of me having an ILP. My internship is at the Public Workshop and Department of Making+Doing. I have been working really hard to set up an internship either there or at the exhibit design department of the Franklin. Yet, I couldn't get connected to the right people until recently, so now I finally have it set up. I wish that getting my internship set up was an easier process, but I do believe that I have learned from the complications that arose during this process.
Although I haven't actually been to my internship yet, I have heard many good and interesting things about the program and I am very excited to begin working next Wednesday. I think that this internship will really help educate me on many topics that I am interested in and assist me in pursuing my possible career goals. Even if I don't choose to continue on this road I think that this internship will teach me many things that will be useful anywhere, later in life.
The only issue that I have currently is of my conflicting schedule. I have been doing a program with the Franklin Institute for a year now and have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, both the internship and the Franklin program are on Wednesdays, and I have learned that the internship I chose starts later and can go later occasionally. Even though I am not required to stay for the whole time at the Public Workshop, I am still concerned about missing or being late to the Franklin program. Hopefully, this will never happen, but it is something I have been thinking about.
I hope everything works out overall and am really looking forward to starting a new experience at the Public Workshop.

Ku Klux Klan: The Evolution
To understand this graphic, you must first know about the Ku Klux Klan, a prominent terrorist group in our nation’s history. The KKK is famous for it’s appalling actions and violence against African Americans and may still be alive today. According to Dictionary.com the KKK is “a secret organization in the southern U.S., active for several years after the Civil War, which aimed to suppress the newly acquired powers of blacks and to oppose carpetbaggers from the North, and which was responsible for many lawless and violent proceedings.” The Ku Klux Klan has had a large influence on the entire country and assisted in changing many things for better or for worse.
Many people know of or about the Ku Klux Klan and it’s part during the reconstruction. However, not many understand it’s true importance during the time. It wasn’t just an ugly mark in our history where thousands were murdered, the Ku Klux Klan made a huge difference in our history that is still influencing us today. The KKK held the south and our country back in time, keeping them from slowly progressing and getting past their racist views. They inspired violent actions and racist views once again, keeping those opinions alive and celebrated. The KKK also influenced the government, keeping racist democrats in power, slowing down the evolution of African American rights. The KKK’s actions more than a hundred years ago are still impacting us today. Their supremacist views and action contributed to our still racist country. Both consciously and unconsciously, our country today is still racist, whether we like it or not.

I'm very proud of myself for my artwork. I know it's not the best and could be a lot better, but I have worked very hard on it, constantly working hard in and out of class. I put a lot of effort into this drawing and kept going even if I got frustrated, which I did. I believe the final drawing turned out well and portrays a lot of the parts of the wall well, on sides and walls.
b. What would you change or differently if you could do this project again?
If I could do anything different, I would try to work more out of class. I could have more time to work on the drawing, and make it more precise, detailed, and overall better. More time means I could be patient with myself and really make sure every line is perfect.
c. Find a drawing on the wall that you think is successful. Describe it. Why is it successful?
The drawing I found has a lot of detail, but is still really neat and carefully drawn. It has almost all of the parts of the wall they drew and the drawing seems to be to scale, all of the parts looking right in relation to each other. If you look close you can also see that the lines have been carefully drawn and each one is accurate, going to vanishing point or being vertical or horizontal.
d. What did you learn about one point perspective?
This drawing really improved my one point perspective skills. Before this I would have been afraid to just look at something in the room and attempt to draw it, but now I feel a lot more confident and I think that it would turn out pretty decent. Overall, drawing this gave me a lot more confidence in drawing and I feel like I can draw a lot more thing in one point perspective than I could before.

Net Neutrality and Teens - Kopf
Net neutrality is a very important set of rules that many people believe should be put in the ¨book of internet rules¨. Basically net neutrality is the rules that would govern the fairness of the internet. Internet Service Providers or ISPs sort of rule the internet right now and net neutrality would govern what they can and couldn’t do. Essentially net neutrality would make sure everything was fair with the internet, no fast lane or slow lanes and no slowing down content if it’s legal. Net neutrality is liked and wanted by numerous people, including our President Barack Obama.
Right now there are a couple problems with the internet, a lot of that having to do with net neutrality not being enforced. Currently the ISPs have been slowing down certain sites and then asking if they want to pay extra for a fast lane. This type of thing happened with Netflix and it got them pretty angry. The ISPs have a serious power over the internet and without these rules they could speed up, slow down, or block content as they wanted.
Now that you know what Net Neutrality is and what’s wrong, I’ll explain why its important for this upcoming generation and the generations after them to know more about net neutrality. Teens these days and even young children go on the internet constantly and it really affects their daily life. Also they are going to grow up and have to deal with these problems. It’s really important that teens are prepared and knowledgeable about the internet and what’s going on with it. If they aren’t and the internet is still part of their daily lives they will just be affected by the decisions made and not be able to participate in fixing it or preventing bad usage. In general as long as they know what’s going on they have the ability and chance to take a stand for what will affect them in the future and now.

Kate Kopf Slide 2
My new slide, as you can see is very similar to my old slide. This is for a couple of reasons. When I presented my slide to the class and had it graded, I didn't get that much feedback. However I did fix what they suggested which was to make the image of the cube a little bit bigger. Later at the next class I tried to seek out some suggestions and one person suggested I add more words, so I did just that. If you look closely you can see that I added a couple new words such as: Philadelphia, Energetic, and Leader. I tried to think of some words that might help you understand me and my personality a bit better. The reason I didn't change my slide to much is because I got a lot of compliments on how it was already, from fellow classmates and Ms. Hull. I really think that this slide is designed well and shows my personality well, I hope you feel the same way and enjoy looking at it and reading it.

I made the slide the way it is because at a quick glance you can understand some things about me, and it is also visually appealing. I worked with a program to form words into an image, in this case a cube. I picked a cube because cubes are equal on all sides, and I think my personality is pretty balanced in its aspects like a cube. Also I made certain words bigger that represented some of my history and culture, such as myself, jewish, massachusetts, and SLA so that even if people can only look at it at a glance they can still get some idea of me. All of the words I picked represents some part of me and together they say who I am. Being Jewish is a big part of my culture, even though I’m also agnostic I still celebrate a lot of the holidays and had a bat mitzvah. I was born in Massachusetts and it’s one of my favorite places, I love the sports teams and the cities.
For the design I tried to use a lot of the suggestions from the articles. I chose the color palette specifically so it would be bright and pop out from the dark black background, I thought the contrast would look nice.Also the contrast would help you read the text. I made the text as big and used it as a main part of the design because then you can read it easily and it maintains the simple design of one point per slide. I also tried to make sure the slide wasn’t crowded, I made a simple design and didn’t make it too big. One big aspect I tried to do was to create a simple and elegant design that showed me. I feel like this slide fills my wishes.
