¿Que Hora es/son?

It is ( Numberos ) o’ clock
Cuarto
Quarter of an hour /  15 Minutes
Media
Half an hour /   30 Minutes
Menos Cuarto
Quarter of  /   45 Minutes

In order to ask the time en Spanish you say ¿Que Hora es? Or ¿Que Hora son?. To tell the time you say ¿Son Las ( Numberos)? Ex: ¿Son Las dos? This means “It is 2 o’ clock.

To say it is 1 o’ clock you say  ¿Es La una?. To say minutes past the hour you say ¿Son Las (numberos) y (numberos)? Ex: To say 2:10 you say ¿Son Las dos y diez?.

Use the word “menos” for minutes to the hour  ( to do this minus the minutes towards the hour and for the hour add one) like this ¿Son Las (numberos) menos (numberos)?  Ex: To say 2:50 you say ¿Son Las tres menos deiz?

To make it more simpler when it is a quarter of an hour you say cuarto and when it is half an hour you say media. That is how you ask and tell time in spanish.

This video shows how to ask what time it is. In this video miguel asks robert what time it is and is late for class.

When saying your phone number in spanish, you need to know how to break it up. In English, we just say the numbers like two-one-five....ect. But in spanish we group them together like, 2/15. 4/82.89/43.To ask someone for their number in spanish you simply say "¿Cual  es tü numero de telefono?" and if you want to show respect to someone (like the president) when asking for his number, you would change the "tü" to "sü" so then it would be "¿Cual es sü numero de telefono?"

Tu vs. Ud

When speaking with the President, you would speak in a proper voice. You wouldn't say "Hey dude! What's cracking" You would say "Hello Mr. President how are you today?" However you might say "hey! what's up?" to the President's daughter.

In order to do this you have to know

     1. What is formal and what isn't.

     2. Who you are speaking to.

     3. When to use Tu and when to use Usted.

When asking the Presidents daughter her name you would say "Hola! Como te llamas tu?

Tu is the Informal way of saying you. Usted is the formal way of saying you.

So when asking the president his name you would say "Hola! Como se llama ud.?
