I was sitting at a table with my friend and said ,
“Yo u hear about that jawn who was rumblin”
“Naw but who was she rumblin and why?”
“Man you kno how girls always fightin over the dumbest stuff but i
dont really know why she was mixin”
“Oh trizz but yo you heard bout jawn that was bout 2 get jumped”
“yea thats crazy”
This would be how i would talk to my friend at a public place and
this relates to my life because when i go out to public places i have to switch
the way i would talk and act if i was with my friends. Also this goes for the
same with adults if i am talking to an adult then i won’t talk like I’m talking
to my friend and sometimes its hard to switch between these. When I’m outside
walking somewhere relates to my life because i have had problems
with people trying to fight or jump me and my friend or friends because we say
the wrong thing and it doesn’t have to be directed at them at all.
In my life I use many different ways of speaking and i code switch
a lot. For example If i am outside with just my friends then i will joke around
curse a lot and basically just have a good time and not care about what I’m
saying and hardly ever speak proper, but if I’m in public like at a restaurant
or something then i will still joke around but not curse because I’m in a
public place and if I’m talking to my friends I would use slang but if I’m
talking to an adult then i would talk properly. If i am in my neighborhood but
I’m walking somewhere i don’t talk a lot because that could attract attention and
people would then try and mess with me and my friends or start a fight if i say
the wrong thing or if they don’t like the way i talk or the way i sound. If I’m
at home and my mom is home i will not curse because then she would probably hit
me because I’m not suppose to curse around adults, if I’m at school in a class
i wont curse but when I’m in the halls or at lunch i will curse because i would
be with my friends. When i talk to adults i talk to all adults with respect
because that’s what i was taught to do by my mother and i don’t use slang
because I’m suppose to speak proper to adults. This matters because if i talk
to a certain person the wrong way i could get hurt or in trouble and i could be
looked upon differently then i want to be looked upon and how my family is
looked upon.
This also relates to code switching because depending on who i am
talking to depends on the way i talk . For example if I’m talking to an adult
I’m not going to be cursing or yelling or cutting them off or being
disrespectful because that would be wrong, I would talk to an adult like this
“hey”
“hi”
“how are you”
“good and yourself”
“Fine thanks for asking”
“have a nice day”
“ok thanks you do the same”
If I’m talking to my friends i will curse and joke around and
things in that nature like this.
“Sup Fam”
“yo my ni**a wats good”
“YA MOM”
*laughs* “that doesnt make since” *jokingly*
“Yo u did that nut a** homework”
“Naw motherfu***a i was jus gonna copy jawnski’s”
“true that gucci my ni**a”
If I’m outside and I’m walking somewhere then i wont be just
saying anything i want because if i say the wrong thing it could start trouble
and i try to avoid trouble as much as possible. When I code switch i don’t like
it because i want to be able to talk to everybody the same way but if i do that
it could end me up i trouble. For me code switching is like a good skill to
have so then you can know how to talk to different types of people and would be
able to accept more people or to be able to withstand people that others might
not be able to because of there personality or something. To me the way a
person talks could be how there personality is and if you don’t know how to
code switch then you might have a hard time accepting other people for who they
are and might have trouble in the work world so that’s why i think that being
able to code switch is a good skill to have.
For example of a reason you need to know how to code switch in my
neighborhood one time
i was with two of my friends Rondel and Survon and it was a hot summer day and
we were walking to our friend Juniors house. When we were walking we walked
pass edmonds which is a playground where there is a basketball court at in my
neighborhood, and there were 3 boys playing basketball. Then the boys started
walking toward us after we were at the end of the block and one of them was
yelling "COME HERE" but we didnt know the boys so we kept walking.
Then the 3 boys caught up to us on the next block and one of the boys said to
Survon
"watsup"
and he said "nothing much chilling"
then the other boy said " i dont mean watsup i mean watsup wit a
mix". Then Rondel said "we dont want to fight we dont want no
problems" then the boy said "i didnt ask you that but wat if i wanted
a problem" so we kept walking and they kept following us until we got up
to st raymonds which is a school/church in my neighborhood and thats when the
boys were next to us so we were trying to get away from them. Then the boy said
to Rondel "yo rumble me" and Rondel said "why u wanna rumble u
dont kno me and i already said i dont want no problems" then the boy said
"i dont like you cuz i dont kno u so rumble me" then Rondel said
"why dont u and one of them slap box if you wanna rumble so bad" then
the boy said "cuz they like my bros" and the other boy said
"WHAT!" to what Rondel had said. then we just kept walking and they
left us alone because we were going to west oak lane and the gang BI is in west
oak lane and 1-4 is in mt airy and they dont like each other so they didnt want
any trouble really. In my neighborhood if you dont
know how to code switch then you could end up in trouble because if you are
from a different neighborhood then you might talk differently then people in my
neighborhood. If your not from my neighborhood and you dont know how we talk
then most people are going to want to fight you so code switching is good so
that you dont get into trouble in unknown places to you and so you dont get
hurt, you could also end up in a scene like me and my friends did.
To me the way i speak influences a lot about me like the type of
people i hang with and type of music i listen to. In the future i will have to
understand how to relate to may different personalities so that i can get and
keep a job because if i dont like my boss i will still have to just deal with
him or her and the people i work with.

Supreme Court Case Preso
The State charged the defendant in a 17-count
indictment with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated
robbery. On February 10, 2000, 22-year-old L.J. worked until 8 p.m. as a cashier
at a clothing store in Chicago. On her way home to the south side of the city,
she purchased items at the store for her mother and went toward her home. As
she passed an alley, the defendant came up behind her and forced her to sit in
the backseat of a beige station wagon, where he told her to take her clothes
off. The defendant then vaginally penetrated L.J. The defendant also contacted
L.J.’s anus with his penis, but did not penetrate. He then pushed L.J. out of
the car while keeping L.J.’s coat, money, and other items. After L.J. ran home,
her mother opened the door and saw her in tears, partially clothed with only
one pant leg on. After L.J. went into the bathroom, her mother called the
police. Shortly after 9 p.m., Chicago police officers arrived at the home and
found L.J. in the bathtub. She had not yet washed her vaginal area. After L.J.
told the officers what had transpired, the officers issued a “flash” message
for a black male, 5 foot, 8 inches tall, wearing a black skull cap, a black
jacket and driving a beige station wagon. An ambulance transported L.J. and her
mother to the emergency room. Whether a state rule of evidence
allowing an expert witness to testify about the results of DNA testing
performed by non-testifying analysts violates the Confrontation Clause, when
the defendant has no opportunity to confront the actual analysts.

Ms. Hull told us to take 200 photos of everything and anything we wanted. I focused my theme on my friends, and my self. I had fun taking photos, and I specifically tried to be as creative as possible. The reason for taking 200 photos is to edit 5 photos, and publish them. I was nervous because I don't know how to work photo shop. But after Ms. Hull taught the class I became expert. So I took five of my favorite photos and edited. I had one photos and cropped and added a colorful back ground. Most of the other photos i changed the tint, blurred edges, black and white, and other things.Mi Reflxión

The first step was getting the makeup. I printed out a color copy of the painting and made a list of all the colors I needed (white, green, light pink, dark pink, etc), plus whether I had them already or not. I used my own lipstick, lip gloss, pencil eyeliner, liquid eyeliner, plus some old foundation and blush I had from acting I did when I was younger. Needless to say, I don't actually use them anymore. Then I went to Rite-Aid and bought eyeshadow in white, brown, green, blue, and a trio of purples.
Making the actual painting was a lot of fun. I spent about two class periods outlining the figure and filling it in with makeup. The shadowing was tricky, but I used a combination of green and blue and I think it turned out well. It was also fun to make the flowers, because I got to improvise a little, like with using an eyeshadow pad to draw in blush, or making a little flower of dots using the lip gloss.
I'm proud of how the painting turned out. I didn't capture every detail, but I like it. If I could change anything, I think id' have erased the pencil lines I made before doing anything else, or I would have skipped using foundation. There actually isn't any flesh tone in the painting, all her skin is illuminated white or green.

First Amendment: Freedom of Religion Alsardary Q2 BM
Ms. Laufenberg,
Sorry its on YouTube, I'll talk to you in class next time I see you.
Here it is!
Here's my Work Cited as well!
Reflection
To start this reflection off, I chose the topic "Freedom of Religion" in the First Amendment because it honestly means the most to me. It plays a huge part in who I am and if I was not able to practice the religion I wanted, my life would turn 360˚. Religion makes me, and the point that I am allowed to practice my religion without any judgement or doubt is really a true blessing that the US has. It is why it is so multi-cultural and diverse and that is what makes the US the land of the free. Also, since I can really relate alot to it and share my own experiences and thoughts, I thought it would be a great topic of choice. I liked this project because it was actually really interesting and fun to do, and it wasnt like a paper or anything, it was something visual which helped in my wanting to do the documentary to perfection. Also, there was a great amount of time for us to finish as well. As for some of the most challenging things, I had only one great and super hard challenge: Procastination/Time-Management. I really had a long time to do this and I always put it off to other days to the point where when I started when I got back home I would be tired and fall asleep. I finally put myself together in midst of turning it late, but I really do believe when I put my mind to things I can get them done really well.
The most interesting fact/event that I investigated was the point of view in which I would turn up if the freedom of religion did not exist. This project was fantastic, well put together, I would not change really anything. The only trouble I ran into was the procastination, but I finally got over it. Something that went well in this project was the way it was designed just like a documentary. If I could do this BM over again I would definitely make earlier decisions, get my footage earlier, and not procrastinate AT ALL. I really did like my topic, so I probably wouldnt change it. I learned alot about my own life and the blessings I have, and I really gained a good experience expressing my thoughts and feelings on the topic and its impact on my life.

Blog post #4
Patriot Act:
As most of you know the Patriot Act was made in response to the 9/11 terrorist attack. It was written to reduce restrictions on law enforcement agencies ability to have access to different things like telephones, email, medical records, financial records, and so much more. This, of course, created a uproar within the American people. Many people were haunted by the fact that the law enforcement agencies could track all types of communications and get their hands on whatever records they wanted. There was no privacy and they felt that this was extremely unconstitutional.
Ever since the Patriot Act was written and passed, just a few days after 9/11, a lot of people have gone on strike and have done many other forms of protest against this Act. So, many things I would do and set up wouldn't be much different then what they have already done. Though there has not been much change of the act in favor of the protesters, other people have become more informed of the situation through what the protesters have been doing. So I think the best way to keep people informed and communicate our problem is to keep the protests going. I would possibly hold a walk where there would be a point A and point B. People would start at point A and walk to point B as they hold signs and such, just to let people see this is a problem and we are fighting for it.
Now on a more personal level I would definitely write a letter. Even though he is not president yet and may not become president, I think the best person to contact would be Ron Paul. During his republican debates he has made it very clear how he feels about the Patriot Act. He says, and I quote, "I have a personal belief that you never have to give up liberty for security. You can still provide security without sacrificing our Bill of Rights." Though he might not be able to change the act himself, if he supports us, it would give us someone higher up within the government to speak for us, and get others on our side.
"Rolling Brownouts":
To try and fix this budget problem within America, the government has targeted firehouses and firefighters. The government has closed down firehouses across the country in many different districts. Which has resulted in many citizens protesting against it. By taking away firehouses in different districts it has put many people out of work, but mostly in danger. The firefighting company places firehouse in different districts, far enough from each other where they could help out each other but close enough to their own district so they can be the first ones there. But with many districts and towns loosing their firehouses, there have been many incidents where the firefighters have not been able to get there in time since they are traveling twice the distance they would have to if there was one within the district or town. This has effected not only the firefighters but everyone else to. Its a huge safety hazard.
Thought there have been protests here and there for it, I do not hear much about "Rolling Brown-outs" towards firefighters. So my first goal is to make the problem known. Many people are willing to help out firefighters, since they risk their lives everyday for us, so holding fundraisers that could be fun for families but informational to parents could really help. There is also a thing that firefighters do every year where they go out to and walk up and down streets with their helmets and boots and raise money. We could do that but have signs and t-shirts to explain the protest. An finally writing to the government never hurts, I am not sure who exactly we would write to but a person within some power would help. Its always good to get an inside man to help out. But for "Rolling Brown-outs" I would start smaller and make my way up. If the government has not already seen the damage it has cause by taking firehouses out of districts and towns I really don't think just writing letters to them will help. We have to inform the people, and make this bigger first.

This video is about a girl who created an animated feature to discuss the 14th amendment. She wanted to get the message of the 14th amendment out to people who doesnt know about it and is living it everyday. She wanted to explore the creative side of history.
My reasoning for choosing this topic is because this is a topic that is taken lightly in the society today. We, even I myself is guilty of calling people "gay" when I feel like they're doing something out of the norm for their gender which is wrong of me. I do not mean any harm by it but I've come to realize how bad of an impact this can have on people. Being gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gender in the world today isn't easy and I felt like it'd be a good idea to make a video reminding people that they are human & their sexuality doesn't define them.
We did stumble across one big challenge which was what exactly would we include in this video. We didn't know if we wanted to base this off of one person's life with facts or not. We ended up just making a video with facts included in it. Aside from the challenges, I liked that we had to make a video and focus on a provision of the Constitution in a creative way. The most interesting fact that I came across was that a Defense of Marriage Act was passed giving the states the option of rejecting or allowing gay marriages. I felt like that law should have never been passed being as though the US shouldn't regulate who people chose to love and be with.
After watching the project, I noticed the audio was not the best and it could use some MAJOR improvements. The music was higher than the interview audio which is a mess and should be fixed. If I were to do this project again, I would start the filming earlier because we probably would have more access to filming equipment and our final product would have been so much better. Also, we wouldn't have had to use many youtube videos if we would have done so. However, I did learn about the 14th Amendment and how that second section of the 14th Amendment shouldn't be taken for granted. Me, because I have my freedom and I am a heterosexual female does not go through problems where I feel as though I'm being rejected or deprived of rights. Therefore, I take this section of the 14th Amendment lightly whereas those who are LBGT take it seriously because they are deprived of their right to live in the way they want to.
Imagination Gone Artsy: Copy a Master
This is
where my imagination went wild. I was confused at first when we were first
assigned this project because I didn’t want to spend too much time on one
project because I was still working on other things. So I googled: “famous
paintings.” And Better Days by Judi
Lynn showed up. My first reaction to this picture was BLACK AND WHITE. I went
to my art teacher, Ms. Hull, but she just left so I found the Emma, a student
teacher in our class, and she said that it was best if I had two versions so I
went home with two sheets of paper and drew two mirrored versions. This was
going to be a day and night version of the painting. And then I was starting my
first charcoal and painting project.
My
favorite material to use was the charcoal because I learned new techniques and
my aunt gave me her old charcoal kit. It was a bonding moment for us. She gave
me a few pointers on her they worked. My favorite tool was the charcoal eraser
she gave me because it could give me the different shades I wanted. I liked the
charcoal side the best and I think it turned out very well. When I say that, I
mean that I am 98% sure that it’s “hanging up on my wall” worthy. The other two
percent is adding the final final touches. And yes, I meant to use TWO “finals”
because I didn't know I was done until my painting dried and the colors faded.
I wanted my drawing/painting to mirror each other and that was really
frustrating to draw because I would end up drawing the picture instead of its
opposite side.
If I
could do it differently, I wouldn't use so much paint because that really
curled my paper and made it really wavy. I also would keep in mind that when
painting, there are different steps to do so. You need your bottom layer and
then your middle layer and then add your final touches! Then I finished!
Imagination Gone Artsy: Bike
I opt-ed out of this on drawing to focus on detailing my blogs. This is the only project I opted out of.
