Summary

The senior capstone was stressful, exciting and went well. My original plan for my capstone was creating my personal capstone but since our ultimate team had a lot of tournament. It was an option that opened up and I was allowed to become a director of an ultimate tournament. I had to spend lunch and after time with Mr. Lehmann. Overall, we spend a lot of time figuring out how to get the following items like trophies, food, and water Jugs. We had ask a lot of favors from Pada ultimate organization. There were 18 teams from D1 to D3 and Girl, the boy division. The tournament raised 2,000 dollars for SLA ultimate community and the teams had a lot of fun. The varsity boy had a very successful weekend with making the finals. The capstone was a great learning experience for sports management which would be my major in college. I want to give thanks to all teams that participated in the tournament and also Mr. Lehmann and Jereme Mason

Episode 1:
In this episode Sydney, Avi, Jahan, and Hamidou will discuss the recent events that take place in Khaled Hosseini's award winning and best seller book, "The Kite Runner". We discuss the relationship between the main character and his best friend and explore the complications of a young friendship in Afghanistan. We give a quick summary of what we've read so far and discuss different points of view that are introduced.
Evidence:
Chapter 1-10
-"One day last summer, my friend Rahim Khan called from Pakistan" (1).
-“They danced high above the trees on the west end of the park, over the windmills, floating side by side like a pair of eyes looking down on San Francisco, the city I now call home, And suddenly Hassan’s voice whispered in my head: For you, a thousand times over. Hassan the harelipped kite runner” (1-2).

-“I can still see his tiny low-set ears and that longed stub of a chin, a meaty appendage that looked like it was added as a mere afterthought. And the cleft lip, just left of midline, where the Chinese doll maker’s instrument may have slipped, or perhaps he had simple grown tired and careless” (3).

“-Hassan never denied me anything. And he was deadly with his slingshot. Hassan’s father, Ali, could ever get” (4).

Q4 Art Work

Posted by Hamidou Doumbia in Advanced Art · Hull · y1 Band on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 7:07 pm
The last quarter of the year was fun because we had a different type of drawing. I had seven different type of drawing. Week 1 was figure drawing and I was excited to start the quarter well so I put a lot of work into this drawing. I wanted to draw a person figure drawing. At first, it was difficult because I made the head very huge but I work around it and made a nice drawing. Week 2 Line drawing I put a lot into drawing a nice line drawing when I was searching for line drawing and found a nice picture. Week 3 Digital Drawing was different from another drawing since it was online. I have already drawing online so it was very fun. Week 4 Illusion Drawing was kind difficult but fun because make it look 3D. Week 5 Practice Texture Drawing was difficult because we need a lot of detail. Week 6 Value Drawing I had to make sure it had different type shade to make it nice. The last drawing Element drawing I wanted to use digital editing and drawing to make a masterpiece for my last drawing. Overall I have enjoyed art class because it was different from other class.

Screwing with the Relationship?

Posted by Hamidou Doumbia in English 3 · Pahomov · B Band on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 10:33 pm

Comparing “Taming of the shrew” to “17 Again”

Taming of the shrew is a play that Starts as Lucentio arrives in Padua. Lucentio hears that the merchant Baptista has two daughters. One daughter is prettier and respectful but she cannot be married until Katherina the second daughter and the oldest gets married. Blanca is the youngest daughter that Lucentio wants to marry.

In the film 17 Again Mike O’Donnell is a high school basketball star, but he has a girlfriend that he really cares about. Scarlet has some shocking news to tell Mike before the biggest game of his life. Twenty years later Mike’s has married Scarlet. Their relationship has been rocky and failed that Scarlet filed for divorce. He has a chance fix his past by transforming back into a teenager in high school.

17 Again and Taming of the shrew have a different but similar idea of what is a relationship.  Lucentio and Bianca have a vitalized relationship because Lucentio and Bianca love spending time together and also have a common vision of what they want in the relationship. While Petruchio controls Katerina in the relationship because he believes the only way a relationship works, is if one partner takes control. Mike and Scarlett’s relationship is similar to Lucentio and Bianca but Mike wants Petruchio’s type of relationship. Scarlett wanted a relationship like Bianca’s relationship, which means she wants Mike to spend more time with her and the children, and also wants common need.  The play and the movie show that men are still interested in basing the relationship off of control. However, the play and the movie are also different because Petruchio has control of his relationship, but Mike because his relationship to fail. This reflects the audience’s belief that vitalized relationship seems to be a healthy relationship but true relationship depends on the Personality of the couple.

“I will be Master of what is mine own. She is my goods, my chattels; she is my house, my household stuff, my field, my barn, My house, my ox, my ass, my anything. And here she stands, touch her whoever dare.”

(Act 3, Scene 2, line numbers 235-239)

In this quote, Petruchio describes himself as domineering husband and take control of the relationship. He makes it seem that Kate is his property. Once married, women had no legal right to their own.

In 17 again the connection of Mike Petruchio has been shown

In the early scene from “17 Again” Mike and Scarlet are having a dialogue about how their relationship has been ruined. Scarlet is changed her yard but Mike told her “Yeah, Well, the divorce isn’t final for another two weeks, so you have no right.” Isn’t Scarlett given “Really? So I’ve spent the last 18 years of my life listening to you whine about the things you could’ve done without me, and I have no right?” This prove any answer of why their marriage has failed.

“Why, gentlemen, you do me double wrong To strive for that which resteth in my choice. I am no breeching scholar in the schools. I’ll not be tied to hour nor ‘pointed times, But learn my lessons as I please myself.”

(Act 3, Scene 1, line numbers 16-20)

Bianca describes her relationship by saying that she does not control by anyone. Bianca knows that Lucentio is actually suitor trying to prove his love to her. She believes that a relationship should be controlled by one partner.

A vitalized relationship is caring about a person

Naomi is trying to Persuade Scarlett to start dating again. Scarlett wants to her men to tell her that she is beautiful and have a common connection also respect. This proves that Scarlett wants a vitalized relationship.

“Well, I say no. And therefore, for assurance Let’s each one send unto his wife, And he whose wife is most obedient To come at first when doth send for her Shall win the wager which we propose.”

(Act 5, Scene 2, line numbers 67-71)

Petruchio has made a wager with Lucentio and Hortensio about who the wife is more obedient. The plan was to call each wife into the room. Whoever wife that come in the room will win the wager. Hortensio calls his wife in a nice way but she said no because she has something do. Lucentio calls Blanca and she said no because she was with the other wives. Petruchio calls Kate and she walks in the room ask him for anything he wants.

Each relationship need a happy ending

Mike is giving one of the heartfelt speech about his relationship before Scarlet divorce him. “Scarlet, before you go through this, I want to remind you of September 7th, 1988. It was the first time that I saw you. You were reading Less Than Zero, and you were wearing a Guns 'n' Roses t-shirt. I'd never seen anything so perfect. I remember thinking that I had to have you, or I'd die... then you whispered that you loved me at the homecoming dance, and I felt so peaceful... and safe... because I knew that no matter what happened, from that day on, nothing can ever be that bad... because I had you. And then I, uh... I grew up and I lost my way. And I blamed you for my failures. And I know that you think you have to do this today... but I don't want you to. But I guess... if I love you, I should let you move on.”  The speech has proven that he should try to listen to Scarlet.

In the 17 Again Scarlett want a husband who compliments and shows love to her. Also, she was happy with both partners. A vitalized relationship isn’t for every couple. In taming of the shrew Kate relationship was different because in the book Kate has a change to adapt to her relationship by being control by Petruchio. The ending of the film Mike and Scarlett give another chance at their relationship.

Quarter 3

Posted by Hamidou Doumbia in Advanced Art · Hull · y1 Band on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 9:50 pm
This quarter might have been the longest quarter yet. We had five different type of art pieces. We create a bike, optical Illusion, Shaded form, draw an eye, and make a mandala. The bike project was different because it was hard trying to freehand draw a bike. It didn't turn out to be the nice bike in the world but I proud that I did something new with a copy from the internet. The optical Illusion seemed to be hard when I first tried to choose the optical illusion online. I wasn't that proud of my Optical illusion I thought I could do better. The shade form I had this one three time over and over again. My first time it didn't look right at all because I'm horrible at shading. My final product was very nice I thought I did very well on. The eye drawing might be my best drawing this quarter. The reason I believe this because detail I put on eye made a lot different. Mandala was a successful project with the cool picture all over the website shown that this might be the hardest to draw I found one I really like and we you add color it changes it so much.

In this unit, I have created 5 different types of art creation. We start off with Blind contour is when you look up at something in a draw without look down on the paper. This was very hard for, because usually I won't make my line and curve nicely by a look at it. Then we had to add color to the cantor. As right now I was disappointed the way I color the cantor. The cantor has helped me understand how difficult an art has to work. Then our second assignment you had to Choose your own painting and I recreate a nice painting of Boohbah from my childhood so it was a great connection. It turns out to do nicely, but painting was very hard because you want to keep in line. After a look at the painting I know this was going to be great have a great connection. Recreate an art piece I wanted to do something that inspires everyone and I remember our first black president has great inspiration because how he has carried himself. President Obama has inspired me since I was a little kid. I member watch t.v hoping he was going to be our first president. Illustration from a piece art I choose one my favorite album born sinner from J Cole. The album helps me go through hard loss basketball game. Born Sinner has a true story behind every song. It a story of J Cole up and down in life. This might be my favorite assignment to do in this quarter. Photo editing our last assignment for the quarter. I didn't understand the connection between the art and photo editing. But as my editing it has a lot because you have to fix the color contrast and make people really look at one part of the photo which is call depth of the field. This assignment will help in the future because I want to go into Photography. Overall, I have learned a lot of about a turn assignment in on time. I also have reflected in my art. I have learned it's not easy to just believe in skills. Most of the art I create I have inspiration from my childhood because I can remember the good time when I use to go home and watch t.v. Then I have a conversation with my friends who gave me ideas.

Is Basketball Interesting

Is Basketball Interesting

In west Philadelphia around the year of 2009, I was a 7-year-old student. I attend Martha Washington elementary school and I lived around the corner. Martha Washington was only attended by inner-city children, mostly around West Philadelphia because it was a neighborhood school. The school wasn’t Fancy like the other school. I was in second grade when I started to notice students playing sports around the area. I hated most sports during that time I didn't like basketball because It seems to not be interesting to me with an old man who was commentator are boring. Every time my dad watch the game I went to my room. I didn’t understand why my dad was watching these sport. In my mind, all I could think about was old people must love the boring stuff. But every morning I found out all the students in my class start to play basketball. Before basketball was into cartoon and cars like every little kid.

Although my second grade I wanted to become a spy or secret agent like the movies I usually watch after school. Codename Kids Next Door and movies like Agent Cody Banks was my favorite film to watch after school every week. I thought becoming a spy would get all the girls in my class. I believe that becoming an agent will be so cool. These reasons force me to love wearing suits and tuxedos. After that year I noticed I didn’t get any girls most girls were the boys who played the sport. But I felt like the kids in my class will change would make any difference because basketball is boring. The school year was about over.

During the summer my cousin that I was very close with came to my house over the weekend. He told me that basketball might be a fun sport. I argued with him that it wasn’t fun to watch. So how could it be found?

Hamidou: When I watch basketball games with my dad it seems to be boring. And mostly old people play the sport and old people are boring.

Cousin: I played with my friend and It was fun.

Hamidou: Look, bro, Secret agencies get all the girls and have more benefits than basketball players.

Cousin: How? You don’t even play basketball.

Hamidou: I going be rich and working with the Secret agent and every girl will love me.

Cousin: Watch believes me that won’t work.

After the argument, we made a bet that I would get more girls act like a secret agent than playing basketball. Now as I writing this story I was a foolish second grade. So I bought a  toy gun and fake badge. When he left my house I made a promise that I will put my life and sweat in of being a secret agent. After weeks I start to found out that a lot of girls was going date most the kids who play basketball. Then the school year has ended and I lose belief in being a Secret agent.

In third grade the began of every morning more kids in my class has played basketball. Most kids believe they would make it to the professional league like the NBA.  While everyone else was playing basketball I and my friends will play cops and robbers it was game that acclimates the fight between bad and good guys. I always want to be a secret agent because I always want to save people. Then one day one of friend kidnapped a girl during our game. I took him down then I believe that girl would give me a kiss. She looks at me like I was crazy. Because I was ready. I had my lip out believe that my dream would come true. After that, I felt sick that she didn’t kiss me. So when she asked what was I was doing. I lied and told her my lips were dry so I was trying a new method to fix it. The whole day I tried to keep a low profile.

After the disappointment, I finally decide to play basketball for the first time at the playground. I understand some part of the game but not the whole. I remember that shooting makes you win. So we played a game called rise and shine in the afternoon. It was one vs one and who every score first get one point then you play another person. The game went up to 11 and I know that was going to lose and might not have fun but I had to give a trie. Lunchtime was ending so everyone was just throwing up a shot that was very hard so they catch up with their point. One of my friend who played every morning won the game had 11 but I thought this sport isn’t that bad. I still didn’t understand why girl fell for a basketball player. So next period we had computer class and he gave us free period. I research advantage of a basketball player and one thing that pops up was money. Most NBA player makes million dollars than I started to understand why a lot of urban kids play sports. Then I research to the advantage of a secret agent Low-cost life insurance which I don’t understand during that time.

I had to make a choice between basketball and a secret agent. I felt I need spend most of the time on one thing. So I made a pro and con list of both. Basketball will help in the future and you get a lot of girls. But Basketball is time-consuming so it hard to different things. While secret agent has advantage to wear suits and they are heroes. The secret agent makes as much money as basketball players. This going to be a hard decision but I felt that this decision will help in future.

In fourth grade, I decided to work on my game. I was going to challenge myself to be good enough to see if I could get the girls and be one of the popular kids. So at began of the year I studied the sport by watching the game every night. Also waking up early to play basketball before school. Eventually, I found a passion for playing basketball.  I learned that you can’t judge anything by its cover. The saying was true because if I didn’t give basketball a chance then I won’t have so many fun experience. It has a huge impact on my life. I’m a starter in high school and also a captain.

Hamidou's Art Work

Posted by Hamidou Doumbia in Advanced Art · Hull · y1 Band on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 4:24 pm

Artist's Statement:

During the first quarter of Advanced Art, I know it was going to be challenging. I never believe that I should drawing or even making art. My art piece has improved as we had a new project.

Our first assignment was ceiling tile. I didn't know if I would be able to create a nice ceiling tile. I didn't even know what art was going be on the ceiling tile. I had drawn three different ideas which I didn't like. So I thought about my favorite hobbies which are basketball. So I tried to draw the N.B.A logo but I didn't like how it turns out on paper. So I had a choice to make between two of my favorite players Lebron James and Stephen Curry. I choose Lebron James because he was inspired me to watch the N.B.A for the first time.

Our second assignment was fall wall hanging. I want to draw something that remembers me about fall.  So I created a pumpkin house with scare ghost and apple tree. Halloween had big part why I choose a pumpkin house with scare items around it. I don't celebrate these holidays but my friends do. I draw things that inspired my friends and their holiday and what remind them of fall.

The last art assignment was a self-portrait. I was having trouble to start the drawing because I didn't know how to draw a person's face. This assignment I wanted to push my self because everyone else was tracing off the board. So I freehanded my whole drawing because I believe it would help me become a better drawer. I even draw the pore on my face to give it more detail. The final product could be better but I learned so much.

Overall, I have learned so much as artistic in advanced art class. The tool for success is pushing your self into an uncomfortable situation. Also, you need a creative mindset and use the thing that inspired you as a person to create a wonderful piece.

Drugs Vs Moneys

There are hundreds of sports that people love to indulge in one of most popular sports in the world is baseball. But what does it take to succeed at the sport? The majority of baseball players want to become successful at the sport, but their desire to become a star in the league needs to come with strength, power, and intelligence. Baseball athletes have an addiction with P.e.d, p.e.d stand for a performance-enhancing drug which helps athletes improve performance most athletes use anabolic steroids which is a form of p.e.d. Although it is illegal, baseball players still use performance-enhancing drugs because the potential to earn more outweighs the danger of getting caught.

Also, using drugs can benefit the player to allowing them 162 games continuously because these medicines provide the adrenaline to do so. P.E.D has a huge effect on the player’s body. Baseball players have gained a lot of success in their career in a short amount of time due to these drugs.  The thought of the player taking care of their family and trying to spare enough time to go to the gym, the practice can really affect a human mindset. The effect player using P.E.D in major league is huge.

Major League Baseball has a policy about the use of P.E.D. The penalty for a first-time violation is being underpaid during 80 games, which can increase. The second violation is 162 games underpaid, meaning an entire season. The third violation is a ban from M.L.B. All of this data can be found on NbcSports under M.L.B, a news anchor website that is filled with facts and analysis. The effect of the day’s a player is suspended depends on how many people take the drug and the strength of the drug.  There are tests that can be taken to figure out about what kind of  P.E.D has been used. Their two methods that use urine cup and blood collection.  After taking these tests, it can be determined if a player used the drug, and then judge to defined the suspect. Also, a player can argue their case to make the suspense smaller or even win. A baseball player shouldn’t use these drugs because of all these rules. You have a risk of having these consequences that don't benefit you.

Ultimately baseball players usually care about gaining money more than playing fair and equal for their fans. Houston Astros paid Roger Clemens, a pitcher. Roger Clemens was very good at the base and was almost inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Due to P.E.D helped his performance, he would make 18,000,000 dollars and $25,00 in bonus money. This is referenced by nytimes.com news outlet. When so many players use P.E.D to gain more money, most players already have to use the money before sign the contract. Then not playing for few month doesn’t really affect if the player already has their life-saving.  There are a lot of players, even Rafael Palmeiro, who was an extraordinary player, who could have been in the hall of fame if he didn’t violate the policy.  This can be from the pressure that comes with financial needs. Developing a new idea to overcome the issue of M.L.B players is money because money is the overall majority of issues in America. Money makes people involved in thinking of how much they are going to spend taking care of their family if they are in a different situation.  Depending on how the player going use the money can affect what will they’re willing to do it.

If the M.L.B player stopped to think about it, they would realize that P.ED is not just about helping the player gain more money, but it affects the player body long term as well. There are a lot of risks the only to stop P.E.D to continue in M.L.B. M.L.B needs a  rehab center to clean sports player. If rehab is included with the suspense policy then it helps a lot of players to clear their mind. This one of the many activities that help player personally. Trying not play so much game or cover a certain amount of player financial issue. Thesis idea could save a lot player from using unnecessary reason to use these drugs.

Macbeth: The least Tyrant King Rational

My partner and I chose to do a board game. We chose a board game because we both have a lot of good ideas for a good board game. We don't have any good ideas for the other choices. We also chose this project because me and my partner Antonio love playing games so we want to create our own game for everyone to play.

Our board game is going to have one route to the end. The end is going to be who can kill King Macbeth  first, whoever does that, wins the game. Players are going to start at the part of the play when Macbeth meets the witches, and when he starts to go insane. People can only play as Donalbain, Malcolm, Macduff, and Fleance. Then you will have a card with a question, if you land on a question spot on the board, and you will have to answer it.. The card will have a number on the top left hand corner, and after you answer the question, you check if it's right. If you’re wrong you go back the number of spaces it says on the card. The board will be decorated with the theme of the medieval era/scenes from the story.

Our board game will have a spot for the cards and a little square for the characters to move spaces. On the board you will be going through the different acts we read.  The question card will also state the act so you will know where we got the question from and it will have a question mark on the card. On the board it will be questions mark on the board if you land on the questions mark you will have to answer the question card. Also if you think the question isn't hard then you can try the Life or death cards. Life cards have a cross on the front and the death card has a skull. It is random so if you chose one card then you can go back if its wrong, if its correct you go up an act but death cards you stay at the same place or go back. You will get a personality card because thatt is how your character is decided. If you make it to the end you are the new king of Scotland and take the crown from the former king, Macbeth.

This is a picture of our card creation process and how we got our information.

This is our Brainstorm for the board and we created a spot where we will place our cards and the design which will fit our board game.

This is part of the board, a little example of the project. We also created pictures for each  acts.

This is our final product.

I hope you will like our board game we really put a lot of time into this project. Me and my partner Antonio like our final project. This project took about two weeks to finish. Most of the time we worked on it was in class, home, and sometimes at lunch. It was really fun to work with my best friend Antonio DeRock.
